Rom with Smooth UI and battery life - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this is a pretty dumb and common question but i wouldn't have asked if i didn't need to ask it badly. I am leaving leaving my place for a month and i would need a longer battery life between charges because i will mostly be on picnic outside or doing something else where the connection won't be possible. Two things i would ask is that whether the LC ICS atm has good battery life because i had stopped flashing a while ago and i don't have time to go through every rom just to record battery life. Also how is the 480p on LC ICS compared to the 720p on GB roms because i will be recording A LOT from my phone. If LC's rom isn't that stable then can someone link me to a good GB rom with smooth interface and good battery life. By "good" i mean 8-12 hours with moderate use, is that a lot? and of course more is better.
EDIT: oh yeah, Mods! please don't lock this right away xD
Thanks a lot in advance !

This gotta be in the Q&A section.
Back to your question:
I would maybe recommend cyanogenmod 7.2 or ARHD roms.

I guess that CM7.2 is your call...has no sense at all, but works great and battery life is great. Take into consideration that battery life is not awesome in this device, but CM7.2 is not bad at all...also paranoid android is awesome, but is ICS and camera is not as smooth as in GB.
If not, you can try CoreDroid V9.4 or the Energy Rom...both have great battery life and no lags at all at least for me....

Hope it helps....

The best rom I ever had in terms of battery and smoothness was Bindroid. It's Android 2.3.5 and sense 3.5.
I don't have a link but you should easily find it by google.....

[Q] What ROM would you suggest?

Helllo everyone
Just posting here to see what everyone thinks. I'm currently a CyanogenMod 7 user, and am looking to try a new ROM or two
I want good battery life, I get 2 steady days with decent usage at the minute from CM7 on my stock radio and also am a customisation freak. I love making my Desire HD look like no one else's does
Can anyone suggest a good ROM for me and why?
Also what is everyone's favourite and why?

Try MIUI, its much nicer to look at than standard CM7.

If it is not important for you to lose HTC sense, MIUI is nice in spite of the fact that it looks like too much the IOS IPHONE
CM 7.0.0 HAS a bad battery drain but its fixed in the cyanogenmod 7.0.2... now the battery works for a long time.. 24 30 hrs moderate use..
and finally if you are interested for a better battery drain try SETCPU.apk (free for XDA MEMBERS) AND configure your proccessor for a conservative work or setdown de cpu (900 mhz for example)
under my experience with the custom roms leedroid (lastest froyo 2.2.1 with leedroid kernel 2.2.9 at 960 mhz max) was provided the best battery drain AND YOU CAN TAKE the kalaga´s theme and enjoy of a great rom.
if you want a really a beautiful and fast rom you can try coredroid v3.3 with a leedroid kernel or buzz kernel (i always recommend froyo at the moment, no ported roms, but there´sa lot of people that likes gb roms!)
really you are the only one that can select the rom that better adjust to yourself! Every person looks for something different in the roms

CM7 v/s Miui

Hey ppl.. I just got the defy.. And am confused what to flash.. The famous cm7 or the much heard of miui rom??
Which one is better.. Basically in terms of performance speed and battery???
Take ur sides
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
though i have no experience in miui, i would say they are basically the same, cuz miui (for defy) is based on quarxs (the dev. of the cm7 port for defy) old sources, and they are both based on the same kernel... and battery life depends almost entirely on apps you use, so the range batteries can perform on a specific rom varies a lot... so it all comes down to which one you like better
^^^ FIRST OF ALL you should use or at least get look of both roms before making any comment on this...
well I have used both,n now settled for WakjMIUI for more refined look(iphonish) n feel on other side cm7 has better performance(for games I guess) n features, on battery front & in my case cm7 & miui(plain) didnt last for 12hrs but after WakjMIUI 1.7.22 my battery lasts for 1.5 days, I would love to give a try to quarx's next cm7 update for few exciting features i.e. touch to focus etc.
IN SHORT its up to your taste..... but try both!!!
Well.. CM7 is a bit snappier, you could tweak more, disable more of the eyecandy, ect.
Battery life.. depends. Atm I would say, CM7 is worse, but I guess that will change after RC2.
MIUI on the other hand is here and there a little choppy, but it's not too bad. With heavy calling and texting, occasional gaming and browsing, battery lasts about zwo days for me. But it definitively looks a LOT better, and the most important for me, everything is SO seamlessly integrated. Feels really iPhone-ish, with the benefits of Android. In CM7, all the apps are barely matching each other and put together.. well, with not really having looks in mind.
So, try both and choose if looks or customizability and general performance is more important to you.
Just try both and check which one you like better. There's basically stock 2.2, leaked 2.3, Cyanogenmod and MIUI. Spend a few days using all of them.
thanks for the suggestions guys.. i tried both.. cm7 was soo dull and boring all apps dont even match each other.. so switched to miui.. and boy.. what a rom.. though it is too iphonish i think im starting to like it
just that the guys there should make the scrolling more smooth
oc'ed at 1ghz and defy runs all smooth
no bugs..(for the things that i use)
okay battery life.. abt 20 hrs.. moderate-heavy use
cm7, but here I have the wifi bug, so, Im going to try the miui

[Q] Best Battery + bug free rom for HTC Wildfire Buzz?

Hi Guys
Looking for best battery life and bug free rom...
As I am just pissed off by battery life by stock rom, i do not mind going on Aosp rom either on gingerbread 2.3, 2.2 or 4.0
hope some experienced people over here at XDA will help me to find out a good battery life and smooth rom for daily use.
Thanks
From my experience, the best rom (fast, bugfree, no lags) that i have came through is splash mod. Now for the battery, you can download easy battery saved. You can then configure it to stop some things when the phone is locked so that battery consumption is reduced. I personally use it and have my phone up for more than 20 hours
The best thing I've found for battery is to buy a spare battery and a wall charger that holds the spare battery, that way by the time my battery is flat my spare one is fully charged. As for the roms its personal preference in my eyes, splashmod may be fast out of the box but I could have a sense based rom running just as fast within half an hour so my advice is try them all and find one that suits you.

Best rom
IMO,I would say the joker rom, spalsh v1.8,and sunaabh. Ive had about 30-60 percent battery life on averga more than stock rom with the 3 I mentioned
I am curious what makes splash rom faster than cm7 since it is based on nightly 256. I think it might be just because of JIT enabled in CM7 (not sure if it is by default) while it is not enabled in splash rom. JIT might (is) causing some delay when executing applications. What do you think?

No there's nothing special about it, its because he's stripped out all the apps to make it a barebones Rom, thats all.
Not for me though I need apps like the clock and don't want to waste my time downloading such apps from the market, I'd rather have a full version and delete what I don't want myself.

For me best rom is RemPuzzleRom fast, stable and good battery life.
I have had the best battery using CM7. I remove unwanted apps using Barebones tutorial.
~20 hours battery life on CM7.
~17 hours on Rempuzzle
Splash mod 2.0 is the best, becouse there is no bugs and it is very friendly to battery
Sent from my Wildfire using XDA
rempuzzlerom and splashmod .... worked really well for me (about 20 hours of battery backup)
I still use stock 2.2 and trust me battery last for 1 to 1.5 days with constant use of twitter, sms, gtalk, call and browsing.
SplashMOD is very smooth, having no issues with it yet, been in use for 2 months. No FCs, all apps working fine.
CM7 was with me for 4-5 months. Towards the end it got very laggy, like seriously jumpy (probably due to neglect), but battery life on splashmod is no where near as good as CM7.
Maybe i just use it more. I think sleep as android and copilot rinse it, which i didnt have on CM7
Am switching to Rempuzzle soon so see what all the crack is about

Best Battery Life ROM?

Which ROM, in your opinion, has the best battery life for the DHD? Doesn't matter if it's AOSP, stock, etc.
I'm just struggling to get through a days' heavy use with Cyanogenmod and MIUI...
Thanks in advance.

I've tested many GB, ICS, and JB ROMS and so far IceColdSandwich has been the ROM with the best battery life so far, Jelly Time is also good if you'd prefer a JB ROM.

Is the speed of IceColdSandwich acceptable? As a daily driver? I tried it awhile ago and didn't like it too much. I preferred AOSPx but the battery drain was ridiculous.

The speed is good, I sometimes get random lags but you might not necessarily get those.
I'm getting only 12-14 hours of battery life using Runny Xtreme Surprise - v3.0.1
Which rom should I go for? I prefer GB because of camera, I really take a lot of photos.

I was a sense user too but ever since i flashed CM 7.2, i have no complaints at all + you have theme chooser so that you can customize a bit here and there. Battery lasts around 2-3 days on standby. You will see yourself that the battery life is much better than all those sense or other roms...Now i was wondering if i was to flash LordClockan's kernel and replace the current CM kernel, would it do any good towards performance and battery life?
CM 7.2 stable version
Seems like someone forgot to read the rules.

[q] cm9 vs cm10

CM9 VS CM10 Which Better For Gaming , Faster , Mods , Better Kernels and Bettery Life ??
i wanna ANS PLZ
i think slimbean
CM9. With Seeder v5. Using either Castagnal IT kernel or hadi's.
CM10 is not stable enough that's all. Battery lasted 3 days with wifi on.
Underclocked though~

Well, I'm using CM10 Alpha 3 now and everything I've experienced is far better than what I've experienced with ICS ROMS. JB is absolutely smoother than ICS. Try Slimbean first if you don't wanna waste time downloading just to test things. Apply forfivo's kernel v2 for jb to improve performance.
Just to be honest, even though many users are saying that there's many bugs and issues on cm10, the times you will encounter them are so minimal. And the phone is still fit for daily use. Just take my advice. Try CM10.

Have you even used it before comparing it to cm9? I doubt it so what your saying is nothing more than baseless rubbish that cm9 is better tan cm10.
Its a fact that wifi drains the battery and to keep it on all the time is stupid and it takes a really stupid person to not be able to see that cause its been said again and again and again that having it on drains the battery and then you complain that the battery drains fast when you have wifi on all day. Yea I see s a real intelligent person there.

Can you please just calm down and stop sounding like you are trying to start a fight for absolutely no reason at all, calling people stupid, everyone is just giving their own opinion, giving an answer. I myself would suggest cm9 too as not all games work properly with jb and its very stable as of now.

I'm in no means to start argument. But I left it with wifi on for three days to test for battery life.
If you don't connect to the internet much, wifi will barely consume any battery. But if you have any more to say, try having 3G on. My experience is that browsing on the internet with 3G on will even consume battery with AC plugged in.(though that is when I'm still in stock GB)
I keep my wifi on when I'm at home because file updates run better on them. (and is needed for frequent teamviewer usage too)
I did not state the fact that CM10 is worse than CM9, its just stability. And as a person who relies on his phone quite a lot, stability does come before performance.
Thanks for iBlueee and peanutghost(direct translate) for being rational
