T-Mobile price drop to $199 at Costco... - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I was in Costco today and noticed that the T-Mobile GS3 has dropped to $199 no mail in needed. I bought two of them when it released last month. Since I was still within 30 days I was able to get it adjusted. Nice to walk out of Costco with an extra $100. Anybody else that bought from Costco should be able to do the same. Enjoy the extra cash!

Wow this is ridiculous.
Super pissed that I got it from a T-Mo retailer now...anyone know of anyways we can get adjusted?

Yeah... the costco deal finally pushed me to trash my 2-year old vibrant and upgrade.
I still can't get used to how massive the SGS3 is.

I yelled at retention for a few days, eventually they gave me a credit. First they said I could return, pay the $50 and buy it from Wal-Mart, then that didn't work so they gave me a $50 credit. Then they said I could do it in a few days "when the system reset" showing me eligible for an upgrade. That didn't happen either. Then they said they would sell it to me from customer service for 199 or I could buy it from a retail store and they would credit my account. Worked out, just had to pay a bit more up front.

Yea, this is how i got my phone about 2 weeks ago. They even had a deal where you could get a GS2 for free on another line. It should be the same at every Costco. So i payed 199 for the GS3 and my dad got the GS2 for free. So worth it. Big upgrade from my Mytouch 4G

I order one from target at 199

i just ordered one as well from loyalty dept...i was able to talk the rep down to 189 as well. plus tax...he charged me full 279 but gave me a 90 dollar credit on my account with no upgrade fee and i will pay it till my next bill so i have a couple weeks till its due. glad i waited till now to buy it. Now i just gotta wait for ups

Keep in mind that at Costco, they charge you tax on the pre-coupon price, so here in WA, where tax is 9.5% it kinda sucks. But they do have great customer service and free accessories.

This is true, but it's not being calculated from the MSRP either, it's calculated off their reduced wholesale price, which for me in CA, for 16GB SGS3 was $389.99, and that came out to $34 in tax (8.75% tax where I live.) Compare this to T-mobile who wanted to charge me tax off the full $629.99 MSRP, which would have been $55 in tax, and it's still $21 cheaper, even if you can talk t-mobile down to the $199 price.
Cheers

Ordered Tilt2 Through Retail Channel Today(Oct. 14)

Yupper.
Sick of waiting, figured I'd give the 611/Retention scheme a try and was surprised when the CSR went ahead and processed my order with no hassles whatsoever. Never even had to do the whole retention thing. Retail price was $350 -$50 loyalty discount w/ waived upgrade fee and $50 MIR(form being snail mailed she said).
Take it for what it's worth...there still isn't an "official release date for retail" and maybe I just got lucky, but there it is.

The core stores will be able to sell the Tilt 2 on the 18th of this month.
On the phone ordering now, but they have to go through their system and not the website. Through retail/611
got mine thru CSR too. ordered it this morning.
I called them, tried to get transferred to retentions but they wouldn't transfer because they said that retentions is an internal department. so I asked the CS rep if I could upgrade to the tilt 2.
I told her I would go to T-mo since they sell the phone for $50 on the win-mo website, so she dropped it to 300, then took an additional 50 off for loyalty. so I paid 250 w/ MIR.
I couldn't wait any longer. ridiculous AT&T. ridiculous.
I ordered mine as well this morning and hoping it will come tomorrow since it is overnight shipping
Just ordered mine!
$350 - 50 MIR, and the CSR was very nice -- she waived my upgrade and Premium shipping fees.
Bit miffed I couldn't get it at the prices some people were getting through Premier -- or sooner, for that matter -- but I'll live.
No one is getting cheaper than that because people are just talking since no one is ready to show the receipt

What are "core stores"? Are they official At&t retail stores and not "retail partners"?
$125 Got it today
I had already posted this in another thread.
I paid the $350 +TAX will obiously use the $50 rebate. Got FedEx next day shipping for free. Got a $175 credit onto my account to offset the cost of the phone. So my price will be $125 +TAX all said and done. It wasnt very hard to get them to work with me. Since they credited the account not discounting the device I will still get to use the MIR.
Good Luck everyone. Hope to see you get great deals!

cheaper then what? i got mine for 199.99. i'll show you the receipt when i receive my phone on friday if you want.
Some stores have already gotten tilt 2s in. And some will already sell them before oct. 18th. One store here got 4 in today when I stopped in looking for a case for mine and said they would sell them today. Granted many stores may not see them till the 18th or sell them till then. You can always call around as I did to find out. I ordered mine thru rententions yesterday (I got it today 299.99 free overnight shipping plus a 50.00 mail in rebate =249.99) It all depends what rep you get, what mood there in and how generous they feel.
For those of you who are getting the tilt 2 for ~$249.99, is this with a new 2 year contract??

Yep. That's what I got mine for. I didn't mind re-upping.
Hi,
Just ordered mine from 611/CSR.
Rep I spoke to gave no indication it was not available and I played along, I just want my Tilt2. Got it for $299.99 plus MIR (Had a $50 upgrade credit available)
So should have it in 2 Bus. days.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Picked mine up at a corporate store last night. I did not previously order one or have one on reserve, just called as asked. They said they received a few in their shipment yesterday (10/14 US, 14/10 for those on the other side of the lake).

How did you do that? Did you just ask them straight up or did you have to play some games with them? I'd like to know.
I just picked up my Tilt 2 from a retail store. The lady seemed more than happy to sell it to me. She said they got 3 in and she didn't seem to know anything about the 18th release date.
I did call numerous other stores before I ended up at the one that sold me the phone. One store said they only had the Pure in, another said the release date was the 18th, another said that they got the Tilt 2 in but was unable to sell it at the non-commitment price because they had so little in (I then asked her how long she thought I would have to wait before I could buy it at the non-commitment price, and she said 'about a month').
Anyway, i'm just glad I got the phone. I am loving it. The screen is beautiful and I haven't encountered any issues so far. Totally worth the $499 I paid.
Yay!!
I just got mine last night! I have a family member who works at one store and I know people from the CSR's up to the Reigonal Mgrs. They all have been told to say the 18th...a Sunday?? But they started getting shipments as of yesterday.
Some stores are going to have MS people setup Kiosks and show people the Pure and the Tilt 2.
Now... when to start flashing.
See ya Fuze... it was great while it lasted! 8)

[Q]best place to buy sgs2?

I'm looking to buy a sgs2 and I just wanted to see if there was any specifically good place where everyone buys them for cheap.
all I know is T-Mobile stores or calling customer service
thanks in advance
You can try Walmart stores. They will definitely be less than TMobile if they have them available. They don't have a restocking fee and have a 14 day return period. Also, Amazon is a good choice as well and will typically be less expensive if they have it in stock - http://wireless.amazon.com
Hope this helps.
Wireless Advocates inside Staples or Costco will have them on sale tomorrow and friday for only $179.99 +tax. So around $195 out the door!
Are those upgrade or new line prices?
I just checked Wal-Mart.com and they had it for 149.99 but it was for new T-Mobile customers. Upgrade was 199.99
I got mine from T-mo customer care.
Here is my price for upgrade.
Retail price $350.27 including sales tax, shipping, upgrade fee
minus 250.00 phone credit
Up front cost 100.27
minus 50.00 mail-in rebate (I'm not sure whether I will get it eventually or not)
Total cost $ 50.27
Besides, I got android preferred unlimited web for $20 monthly.
They charged me for UPS ground shipping, but actually they shipped it with UPS 3-day select. That was cool too!!
I think customer care is the best place if you are a long-time customer for them.
I've been with them for 6+ years.

No. Upfront is $529 - $250 makes it $279 - 50mir. Makes the phone $229.
Side note: Wal-Mart in the midwest still doesn't have them in stock.
I was wondering the same thing. I was checking out Amazon, but it's asking me what kind of data do I want, I already have it and it's cheaper so how would I go about overwriting that.
Can I just buy the phone w/o selecting what data I want?

Also check Wirefly if you are in CA. They do not charge sales tax (note it is based on the full price of the phone so around $50). They had a free activation last week but that is over now. If you have a BOA debit/credit card you can look for the additup.bankofamerica.com promo with Wirefly for an extra $50. Last I checked WF was selling new phones for $179 and upgrades for $199. Upgrades are hassle free on their website and allows you to keep grandfathered plans w/o calling a rep. Also can do single lines of a family plan.
If u have a fry's electronics around go there. They also price match. They were advertising for $250 but when the rep checked my total with the $18 upgrade fee was $158!!

I would always go with TMO stores. They seem to be the easiest to deal with if there any problems with the phone. Nothing better than being able to walk into a store and get an exchange on the spot.

It really all depends on how much you want to save versus convenience. For me, I'd rather save the extra $$$ and deal with return delays/wait if need be. I've ordered my last 2 phones through Amazon and never had any problems. Shipping was quick and free and the second phone needed an RMA which was all done free. Only hassle was being without a phone for a few days, but that's what backups are for and one of the reasons I am with T-Mo so I can just swap a sim card into another phone.
On the whole I'd prefer the T-Mo store too because they will give best service and of course if you need to return it's the least hassle and delay, but I don't want to pay $279 + tax and have to deal with a mail-in rebate when I can just order it online for $199 w/no tax and free shipping and no rebates to deal with.

So you bought the phone off contract for $189?

Where did you get your Verizon Galaxy Nexus and how much?

Happy Galaxy Nexus launch day in the US. Let's post where you got your GN and how much the store charge you (contract or no contract)
My brother got his @ local Verizon retailer store and it cost him $675 w/o tax (no contract).
local vzw store:
(contract) upgrade $249.
Just got home from Verizon in McDonough, Ga. Got mine for $250 after using my upgrade and jumping on a new 2 year plan.
I got 20 percent off my data package, 19 percent off my entire monthly bill, and 50 bucks off my phone when I bought an accessory, which made the entire package just under 300 bucks, tax included. I chose the extra battery with the charging cradle for it.
EDIT: Local corporate VZW store, they had one set aside for me per our phone conversations yesterday.
I got mine for $225 after new every two, plus living social $25 for $50. Bought 2100 MAH extended battery, haven't opened yet. $275 out the door for all after tax.
$249 From "Cellular Connection" in Fort Wayne, IN. They are a Verizon/Dish Network retail outlet.
Radioshack was $300, Regular Verizon stores were $300.
For those of you that got their phone from a Verizon store, for under the published $299 price, would you mind sharing how you did that?
I have a corporate discount, so I walked out of there with the phone and an extended battery for $265. It would have been $50 cheaper if I would have waited until the end of the contract, but i have a family plan and had an early upgrade and didn't want to wait.
Pittsburgh, PA downtown location of Verizon wireless. $249 upgrade price because of a $50 equipment discount due to my corporate rate.

corporate discount.
not a single person who was being ringed up at the time (about 5 others beside myself) paid the advertised price.
Let's talk selling them for $229.00 on contract.
Sent from the tip of my ThunderStick on a bolt of lightning.
Walmart has em for $229 but if for some reason you go to Best Buy, they will match Walmart's price.
Local VZW store. Was free for me, but my company paid $299.
Radioshack $299 on upgrade
I went in with full intention of paying full retail price (I'm only 8 month in to contract when I got my Thunderbolt in April).
Verizon Store manager kept saying "I hate selling phones for full price and without a contract".
He offered me to extend the contract (even at 8 months in) for $400 + tax. I said sure.
Also gave me the case/protector/charger package, a white plantronics bluetooth headset, and a HDMI cable. When the person assigned to me (not the manager) rang me up, he knocked off 50 bucks off the whole deal.
Walked out with a little over $400 including tax. I think I did okay considering I was gonna go in there paying full retail price + tax.
Troy, MI..got the phone for the $249 renewal price at a Verizon store. Got a Invisi-Shield from Best Buy, a 3-pc ****ty screen protector, extended battery for 50% off, incipio double case for 20% off (from verzion)

Great deal from Amazon

This looks to be the best deal right now on an out of contract purchase:

That's pretty amazing considering what you get and beats AT&T's non-contract price by $25.
I don't know what you're smoking but AT&T's no contract price is $440 at their store. With my local tax, it's $473 out the door. If that's too much, I can goto Costco and get it for $98 out the door on 2 year contract, pay the ETF of $325 and I'll still end up with a contract free phone for $423.

You should have noted that it's a 1 day deal to avoid the confusion. Amazon now charges sales tax so even at $414+sales tax, it still costs more if bought through costco then pay the ETF.

Costco Price now $79 (cheaper than BB inc tax)

I was at my local Costco today and noticed the VZW price was down to $79 So if you've picked yours up there roll in for a $75ish price adjustment. You will need your ORIGINAL receipt in order get it.
For anyone holding out that means that the Costco price is now lower than BestBuy price since BB charges tax on retail price not out of pocket price like Costco.
Denver tax rate
BB 50+(650*.085) = 105.25
Costco 80+(150*.085) = 92.75
edit: costco tax adjusted. Is based off price of 150 not 80

Besides adding a second line and updating it? I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I'm going to pay full price for my next phone.
A lot of people should consider the gas too. I have a Best Buy 5 minutes away. Costco is a 25-30 minute drive if theres no traffic. With my big ole V8, it'd cost more in gas than it's worth

The full tax is a state thing. In Ca. you pay full tax on the retail price.
At Costco, there is no retail price so you pay based on what they sell.
I was thinking about going to Costco and getting the phone, then after 14 days cancel and pay the ETF.
Sill cheaper than going into Verizon and paying full price.
$100+tax+$320+15days service = ~$475-500.
Almost $200 cheaper than I would pay at full retail.
I only payed $3.74 at best buy.
