Fruits & Veggies (FNV)
A JellyBean Community ROM for the Galaxy Nexus (toro)

In the words of FNV collaborator remicks:
I came up with this idea a while back and JellyBean is a perfect platform to implement it on, with the drop of a whole new operating system and the lovely new features that come with it I figured it was time to give this a try. This will be a community based ROM, there will be no "team" and there is no official "leader", I will be the voice/face of the project but the ROM will belong to the community. I will be setting up a gerrit and picking a few choice admins to monitor what code gets merged but we will accept contributions from anyone, no matter how large or small, and every contributor will be credited for their work. If you are interested in this project please post here and let me know your thoughts/ideas on it.
The dream is becoming a reality, we have test builds with minor changes (taking it slow) up for download now thanks to the efforts of this great community. Since I know people are patiently waiting to flash this I decided to post up our test builds here so you guys can join in the testing and crackflashing fun!
Please post any bugs you may find in this thread.
Enjoy,
remicks

This is a really good JB Rom. I've been running it for the past three days now, and see no reasons to switch to anything else.
It's smooth, quick, and works. I've not ran into any issues. My phone goes into deep sleep now without needing to go into Maps or use Gps Status to do the Gps lock trick. Battery life has been great (using Trinity A32 Kernel).
Give it a try, you might like it

Edit nothing to see here carry on.

Quick question... do you have the wallpaper that's in that top pic? pretty pleez?

Fruits and veggies and bacon grease? Vegans and veggies cringe...but we all appreciate a new ROM.

What's battery life looking like?

You can find it, as well as a collection of other great wallpapers, by clicking the Art link at the top of the OP.
Also, included in the ROM is a wallpaper app which will automatically update when new wallpapers are added, so you never miss out on the goodness!

Obviously, this will depend on the phone setup, but I average roughly 2-2.5 hours of screen time while staying on 4G. When I run entirely on WiFi, I average between 2.5-3 hours if not more sometimes. I've used the stock kernel every time as well. I know some others use Faux and Trinity kernels with similar results.
When I get around to it, I'll post screens for non believers. But again, this is something that varies between phones.

Great ROM
Great ROM. Thanks for putting it together.
When I restored from a backup I got an Android icon listed as camera on one of my screens and when I tried taping it, it would say app not installed. After I deleted it and went looking through my installed apps I found my camera app with the right icon and it works. Not sure why that happened.
Also, this is the first ROM since I've got my GN that the NFL app works on, so I'm really a happy man since the season is fast approaching

That's funny. The "bacon grease" ingredient in the OP is what peaked my interest lol "Fruits and Veggies? Whatev....BACON GREASE OMG."
I'll give this a flash later today. I've been running Bugless Beast ever since I rooted my new GN a couple weeks ago, but have wanted to try a more modded ROM. (Nothing against BB btw, great ROM!)

I was having issues with the LED too. I couldn't get Light Flow or the Liquid LED options to work. Going into Light Flow -> General Settings -> main
LED control and setting that to no control-default appears to enable the Liquid LED to work. Haven't played with it thoroughly, however. Nothing I
tried seems to get Light Flow working again, however. I would prefer Light Flow, frankly, as the options are more robust, but it's a minor nit for a otherwise excellent ROM.
For those of you running Light Flow or other LED config apks these types of APKs will break Liquid LED control,
Please check the above link (the issues list link right above this link) in order to determine if there is an
existing / known bug w/ Liquid LED control. If there is,please give us the necessary time to get this bug fixed. They have almost all the same features. But Liquid is a lot lighter and in turn is the smoothest and most fluent rom you will every try. Even adding all the features aokp has, its way smoother then stock or any other rom ive tried. Been running it for about 2 weeks, and when i try a different one, i come right back cause none have matched how fast it is
I really dont mean to come off ass abrasive but this question gets asked about 300 times a day so for once and for all. Stop asking about AOKP...DO you REALLY Want me to list how many roms use romans code in some way shape or form? Whats different about this than AOKP, well for starters its about half the size (in mb) is far more battery efficient, much more responsive ui (imo) has far less support for devices (in turn we focus our attention onto fine tuning/tweaking this one device) and has a completely different framework base not to mention this was coded/edited by liquid, Jbird, and a little bit of myself (not to mention the thousands of other people whos code goes into AOSP and this rootRom scene) I could list further differences but Ill let you do the rest of the work yourself...
For starters
Our code:
http://www.github.com/liquidsmoothroms
Their Code:
http://www.github.com/AOKP/
Jbird has done an immense amount of work on statusbar stuff and has worked very closely with TeamKang to reach a lot of these milestones together...anywho this is a totally different thing than aokp, as the man himself likes to say, flash it and see...
This rom is by far the best out there. Thank your for your work. My only gripe is I cannot use stock launcher which I prefer
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I am having an issue where when I have my lockscreen pattern enabled and music playing, the lockscreen music controls show up on the bottom of the screen and the 9 pattern buttons are not visable. I can still unlock the screen using my pattern by memory of where the dot points are, but this has been irritating me. This is with 1.1 flashed the day after it was released.
Is this rom built off of 4.03 or 4.04?

Change Log:
I made this by creating a hybrid of a Crespo CM9 Nightly and Blackwing182's IceColdInsomnia build. I will be working hard to remove all AOKP left overs and making this as pure CM9 as I can. This will increase stability and functionality as well as giving you, the users, as close to ICS CyanogenMod as I can give you.
Full Change Log:
Initial Release.
NOTES:
ISSUES? Logcat them! http://www.androidinsomnia.com/learn-to-logcat-like-an-insomniac/
-Known Issues:
1. Incoming calls look strange but function perfectly. Here is what I mean. The slider button to either accept or reject the call is half way off the screen and has tracers. This is due to left over AOKP frameworks and is being worked out actively and aggressively. To answer the call, press the center button and drag right. To hang up press the center button and drag left. It works every time.
2. ROM Controls is another leftover from AOKP frameworks. This will eventually be replaced with the Cyanogen controls. For now it force closes when clicked. This is being actively and aggressively being worked out.
3. Play Store seems to not always want to download. I've seen this a lot recently ever since the Play Store was last updated. The higher your connection speed the easier this process goes. I'm trying to track down anything I can do to make this better, but it may be a Play Store "feature" not sure yet.
4. There are some random freezes and such. I haven't had anything crazy happen, but basically it's a pretty rough port. I'm learning as I go and this will settle down as A. ICS stabilises, and B. I weed out remaining AOKP code.
5. Camera. The camera (both front and back) start with having a blank screen where it should display what you are going to take a picture of. When you click the button it will successfully take a picture and will begin desplaying correctly. This resets when you switch front to back or back to front. Landscape mode is upside down. Finally, video recording doesn't work. Our top coder is working hard on the camera issues all the time. They will be hammered out as fast as we can, be patient please.
Features:
-Working camera
-Working WiFi
-I think bluetooth works, but have nothing to test it with. If not I should be able to have it working next build, just let me know.
-Everything else should work, other than what's described I've been running this for two days without major upset. Again, it's an alpha build and IS BEING HEAVILY DEVELOPED! I really hope you enjoy this as much as I have.
This ROM brought to you by JHutson456
I would like to take a moment to thank the team as a whole. You guys are all awesome and this wouldn't be possible without you all. The whole Cyanogen team and the whole AOKP team for giving us the bases for this build. I'd also like to thank cayniarb of Tiamat. You've always been right there answering questions without hesitation. It's appreciated more than you know man. The whole Infected ROMs team who have invited me into their "home" and taught me so much. SuperKid at MIUIus who has endlessly put up with me and helped me along the way, through the good and the bad. I've been able to grow a lot as a dev due to the people mentinoed above and below. It really needs to be said, "nani gigantum humeris insidentes" We are dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants.
Minus21, Brother, you will be missed while you serve overseas. Our love goes with you. "Not gone but marching far away"

all I ask is that everyone remember, it IS an Alpha build, and the incoming call thing IS freaky the first time. Now it almost seems like a drugged out feature lolz.
Stock CM9! Can't wait till this becomes stable, and thank you for all your hard work. I'm really happy for this sudden ICS boom by the developers.

F.A.Q in second post!
Hit thanks of you downloaded!
-Team Inferno-
F.A.Q
FAQ - THE BIG PICTURE
What is GB?
GB is GingerBread - One of Google's versions of Android.
- Most of the very latest phones on the market already have it installed. e.g HTC Sensation
- Some slightly older phones will eventually be 'upgraded' to GB e.g Desire, but this may be a number of months away, and promised 'upgrades' have sometimes never been delivered at all.
- If / when it does arrive for Desire it may not happen for everybody at the same time, sometimes it's carrier by carrier, and finally 'retail' (non carrier branded) handsets that get the upgrade last!
- If / when it does arrive, it will be overlayed with HTC's Sense (some like it, some don't)
- In the meantime, folks are working on getting GB on your Mytouch 4G BEFORE it's officially released for the phone, with and without Sense (giving you a choice)
So why don't some features work?
Well, the LeWaOS being used on Glacier is 'taken' from officially released LeWaOS phones that LeWa Team supports, or 'leaked' ROMS from similar phones.
However, those phones have slightly different hardware and features than the Mytouch 4G - so they aren't exactly the same. This means that parts of the software have to be 'ported' to work on the Mytouch 4G.
OK, so why is porting so difficult?
The Android O/S is 'open source' meaning that anybody can see the actual source code for themselves, and see how it all works. They can modify it and adapt it to suit their needs (good).
Phone manufacturers USE Android in their phones, but they don't have to make all their own 'extra' software open source too. They like to protect their software by keeping it secret (not so good). There are many reasons why they do this, both good and bad, but it makes porting difficult.
When developers don't have access to the source code for parts of a phone, they have to write their own!... this means they have to have highly detailed knowledge of the phone, its hardware and other software components. Sometimes they can try things by trial and error, sometimes they have knowledge from a similar phone, and sometimes they just don't know.
This is the most common issue for 'ported' ROMS. Things like Power Management, Camera, WiFi, GPS etc are the things that make one manufacturer's phone stand out from another, and therefore end up 'secret'.
This does not mean that they will never work, it only means that they take longer to get working.
Who does the porting?
The actual porting is done by surprisingly few people:
- Some guys who know 'inside secrets'
- Some guys who are just great developers but who don't have the secrets
- Some guys who can develop but need a little guidance
- Some of them are 'great guys' helping the community (and keeping their own skills up to date)
- Some of them have other motives (good and bad)
- Some of them form teams to work on different ports
Why don't all the developers work together?
Developers are people - they have all the same issues as everybody else:
- Some like working alone
- Some feel that other developers standards aren't high enough
- Some are trying to fix a specific problem that THEY want fixed
- Some teams have different goals (one team might be aiming for a port that can work on 5 different phones, whilst another team are focused on a single phone. One team may want a totally 'clean' ROM and another want a ROM with lots of customisation options built in)
- Sometimes, people just don't get along with each other
I thought the ROM makers did all this work?
You'd be wrong.
The ROM developers use the ported code to make their ROMs. Sometimes they can choose different components from the various development teams to build a ROM.
Imagine a motor car:
1) The 'developers' make the engine, wheels, steering, chassis etc
2) The ROM Makers build their car choosing the components they need for their ROM
3) The 'Modders' add custom paint colours, fancy headlights, custom interior etc
The 'developers' are not smarter than the ROM makers, and the ROM makers are not smarter than the modders. They just have different roles (and some people do all three roles!)
Q: Is this MIUI?
A: No, this is not MIUI, it is completely different
Q: Why does it look like MIUI then?
A: I don't know, ask the original developers
Q: Why are some of my apps in Chinese?
A: Because this is a Chinese ROM, developed by Chinese people. We are working on translating the Chinese...
Q: What do I Need to flash this?
A: All requirements and instructions are in the OP. Please read it.
More to come!

Love the ROM! Four initial thoughts after running it for a few hours.
1. Is it possible to add the external SD card as an option for the camera?
2. Are you planning to create a Toggle to turn off the Tablet UI in the settings?
3. Love the NAV Bar option! Could you add Google Now to it when you swipe up? I grew accustomed to it from my nexus 7 and would love to have a quick access for it on my S3 as well!
4. Superuser popups are huge. Am I missing a control option for this?

Thanks for the quick reply, you are awesome. Which kernel do you recommend with this ROM for batter life, considering this is based on 3.4.45 Kernel? I have been using the Lean Kernel in past which may not work with this because that is based on different kernel version 3.4.47.
I am loving the new GUI, keep up the good work.

I am unable to find the Vibration/Haptic Settings options under Settings. In most custom ROM's, I found this under Settings->Advanced->Haptic. This helps in setting the vibration strength for the mobile
Device specific settings will be implemented in the next update.
