"Revolutionary"?! Your recovery should either be ClockwordMod (Cyanogen...?) or 4EXT. Where's did you get Revolutionary? Revolutionary is the software that Roots the phone for you but that's on your PC and not the phone. :-S

what should i do
im stuck here

Anyway, to install a ROM you should clear everything. Just like when you install an OS on a PC. So format your Cache, Dalvik etc etc. Then install the ROM by "installing from zip".

what ever i do
i mean tried cleaning the cache
it still stuck on the revolutionary screen
what next

It's not stuck, you have menu options, go up and down using volume buttons and choose options using trackpad.
One guy gave you the link to a guide how to do all the stuff you just have to read.

installed it by pressing the menu button previously i was pressing the power button
it says that you are not on custom hboot
and then it installed it for me
and then i installed the typical ics
and rebooted the phone
but its only showing some lines going to the centre of the screen from both sided and then forming and x in blue colour in the middle fo the phone screen
is this right how much time it takes to boot for the phone to ics
or is there any thing wrong
thanks

tried it again by pressing the poser and down and then installed from sd card
aroma installer finished....
install from sd card complete
says to reboot the phone
here the problem starts the blue lines one
ive installe this rom
[BETA 0.15.0.1][04.07] ICS for Desire[ALL HBOOTS][4.0.4]
should i try a difff rom
or if any rom you recommend
thanks

reboot the phone from the same menu
and then again the blue lines
is this normal for the phone to boot like that
how much time it takes for it to boot to ics
or am i doing something wrong

[Q] help!! files cannot be found in clockworkmod recovery.

Hey everyone. I need help here, I am still a noob. Currently I am using a htc desire. i managed to root my desire after setting the install location back to 0. Previously i did what this website ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13557827#post13557827) said, to move my apps to sd since i am still using unrooted stock rom.
Apparently, after rooting, the clockworkmod recovery was not installed properly. it says that some files cannot be found. So i end up rebooting the device.
this is what that is shown in the recovery mode.

I tried to update the fake flash for S-ON users from
udK's thread on the clockworkmodrecovery. But the same things as above still appear on the recovery screen. i also downloaded the update.zip file from leedriod and update thru zip from recovery mode. the same thing is shown on the screen. So, Can i still use the clockworkmod recovery to flash custom rom? P.S. i had rooted my desire, the next thing left to do is to S-OFF my desire, partition my sd card and flash the custom rom. What should i do next?
this is the information when i check my hboot version.

Did you try to reformat your SD card to FAT32? I suggest you do so (unix preferred, as windows isn't as tedious) and do a clean install.

no, i have not reformatted my sd card yet. was planning to partition my card after rooting. i was following the [Video Tutorial] Noob Proof Everything Desire Guide UPDATED [04/04/11][Video Tut] to root my hp. currently i stopped after the rooting step since the clockworkmod recovery is not installed properly. what do you mean by clean install??

Yes you can give that a try though, I highly doubt it has to do with the recovery itself as you were able to start CWM.
You have PVT4 device, which means CWM 2.5.0.7 won't work on it. Either use AmonRa 2.0.1 or CWM 3.x.x.x

But my desire had never been rooted before until yesterday. The only thing I did was changing the install location via pc for unrooted stock Rom. But I did not change the location back when I start to root my desire. After that I change the location back to 0 and the root was successful until the installation of CWM recovery.

I had exactly the same thing about a week ago and in the end used alpharev

Once it did its trick took about 5min I was s-off and had working clockwork

oh ya.. currently, i had burn the alpharev into my cd. but my computer wouldn't seem to boot from cd. the options i had in my setup is choose priority of hard disc ( which the cd/ dvd rom is not there. and the device to boot from, only has the hard disc and removable device. i chose removable device but nothing happen at all. what can i do ?
If you can't boot into CD then your in a bit of trouble trying to use the CD option ?
Maybe the USB option might work for you, all i had to do on my pc was F12 on boot select cd once the screen went dark plugged my phone in and followed the onscreen instructions really was that simple.
Have you actually shut down the PC rather than restart ?

[UPDATED] 4eXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9 as PB99IMG

Updated to the latest version, 4ext Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9
EDIT: No need to rename it now, just download and put on sdcard.
Edited because some people could not get it to work because renaming it was the hardest thing in the world :banghead:
All credits to Madmaxx for this great recovery....
Download PB99IMG.zip and put it on the root of ur sdcard (not in a folder) and then with ur phone off hold volume down + power. ur bootloader will look for the PB99IMG then ask u if u want to update recovery, volume up for YES, it will then ask you to reboot device, volume down for NO. Once its finished u now have 4ext recovery and just use volume buttons to navigate to recovery then press power button to enter recovery. I have tried it myself and it works, its the exact same method to install as Alpharev's hboots via PB99IMG.
Dont forget u must be S-OFF lol
Dont forget to delete it off sdcard once ur done or u will get asked to update everytime u enter bootloader

(Also u can extract the PB99IMG.zip file and flash recovery.img via fastboot commands or android flasher)

not sure what ya mean. the phone shouldnt boot unless u pressed reboot. once u have PB99IMG.zip on ur sdcard, hold volume down + power then bootloader will find PB99IMG and ask update recovery? volume up for yes, once its complete it asks u reboot device? press volume down for no then u will stay in bootloader menu and then press volume down to navigate to recovery n press power button to enter recovery. simples

I've got a problem which is similiar,
The Desire was rooted once through alpharev, custom romed and used for a couple of days. Afterwards the rom was crap and the user decided to get back to 2.2. I don't know how the user installed 2.2 stock froyo but it was up and running again.
Now Root is wanted again, so i installed CWM 5.0.2.0 through fastboot, i can access CWM but as i select a feature like for example "wipe data/factory reset" or "reboot system now" only the background of CWM persists and the blue menu vanishes.
Returning to normal mode just through pulling the battery.

I would recommend 4ext recovery personaly. Anyway download the PB99IMG and rename it to just "PB99IMG.zip" put the PB99IMG.zip on ur sdcard, boot into bootloader (vol down + power) and it will ask to update recovery, vol up for YES then it will ask to reboot device, vol down for NO. Then boot into recovery. Check if the rom is on ur sdcard by selecting install from sdcard. Let me know what it says.
Or u can download a new rom of ur choice by searching Desire Android Development, if u do choose a new rom let me know what coz ul more than likely have to partition sdcard and change hboots.

Thank u for the quick reply. I'll try 4ext instead of cwm, but iam a little bit confused what the difference may be.
Iam familiar with rom installing and sdcard formatting with ext partition for more space, i just cannot install any rom.zip because the recovery doesn't let me access its features.

What ROM are you using? Did you do anything just before this happened?
The best thing to do is to wipe cache/data bebore re-flashing your rom and it will be fine.
I've done this every time my phone stuck on splash screen.
BTW think about making an NANDROID when your rom is fully and correctly installed, it will avoid some problem in the future

I collected it from a friend stuck to splash screen. I can actually say what happened before it got stuck but my guesses are:
1. It was on stock ROM before it got stuck.
2. It has no recovery on it.
Kindly help me out on it.
I know seems stupid, but if it sounds unrooted. Try soft reset battery out leave a bit, battery back in switch on reboot. Any luck

Try get recovery using the
PB99IMG 4ext recovery in my sig.
Put the PB99IMG.zip on ur sdcard then boot into bootloader (vol down + power) and bootloader should find the zip and ask to update recovery? Volume up for yes. Then it will ask to reboot? Volume down for no. Then select recovery using volume buttons to navigate and power to select. Once in recovery, format all partitions except sdcard, wipe dalvik. Then u can restore a nandroid backup or just flash a new rom. If u need to flash a new rom then just make sure to partition ur sdcard to what ever the rom OP requires.

Remove and insert the battery after a minute. Press vol down and power simultaneously. Should give you an option to boot into bootloader, recovery, etc.
Use vol keys and select recovery. Wipe everything except for sd card and reflash the ROM.

Are you s-off? If yes, flash 4ext recovery. It has a Toggle USB Storage option that lets you connect your phone to your PC as if it were booted, an modify the contents of your sd-card. Put a rom, and try to boot.
If not, try using adb from recovery. It might work... I don't really know if cwm 2.5.0.7 has adb enabled. Try connecting your phone while in recovery, and write 'adb devices'. If a serial number comes out, then use "adb push" to copy a rom to your sd-card.
Another way is to find a card reader, they're always really useful in situations like this
If you're not s-off or don't have a card reader, you should still be able to mount the sd card within clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 recovery.
In the main menu, think it's "mounts and storage -> Mount sd card" or similar have a look.
Try this first, just to get your phone booting again. It's still a good idea eventually to get 4EXT recovery installed as it's much better!

Great! Thanks for the hint it did lead me to the right idea to MOUNT USB STORAGE, gave me access to my SD card again.
But since im here i wanted to ask you guys something else. It all happened when i tried to SOFF my phone. I tried using revolution but when i wanted to download the tool it said i needed a betakey and i could not generate one since my HBOOT is version 0.83.xxx and i have no clue how to flash it to 0.93 or 1.02. plus i dont know the serial number of my phone.
is there actually a hboot 0.93 for download i can use ?
I allready rooted the phone using unrevoked forever.

You could use the Alpharev utility from alpharev.nl , or upgrade to the 1.02 hboot using the 2.3 RUU. Both ways are equally risky.

Link to the 2.3 RUU.
Very small risks, but they still are there...

Pull the battery out for ten seconds and put back in then press and hold back button then press n hold power button (both same time) that should boot u into fastboot then u can get to recovery by selecting bootloader in that menu. Hopefully it will work coz windows 8 is a bollox all together with phones.
Thanks a lot !
I've managed to get to recovery, formatted the DATA+SYSTEM+CACHE and installed the ROM that was on the SD card.
Now it's working but it's old android 2.3.3 ROM
I want to install newer MIUI on it (I think it's a port of JB) named "[ROM/4.1.2] [May 16 2013] MIUI V5 3.5.10 Jelly Bean v6.2"
how can i do it ? just wipe everything and install or do i need to do something else ?

Download stock hboot from the alphabet website it and rename it to PB99IMG.ZIP make a back up of your Rom and do a full wipe and format all partitions except sd card and then after you have done that put the zip file on the root of sd card and when you turn on your phone in bootloader it will scan for that file and press vol up to flash stock hboot and then reboot device and delete that file and flash your new Rom.
