Spice MI 425 mods/tweaks - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi All,
***************************************** Warning ********************************
Doing any stuff mentioned below might brick your phone and
I am not responsible for that. Please do it at your own risk and
after knowing what you are doing.
************************************************************************************
Was trying few small things with the phone.
1) Tweaking the build.prop for fun.
I tried few changes with build.prop as following are the changes I have done.
A) ro.sf.lcd_density=200 changed from 240 increases resolution. but I am not sure about stock launcher as I have Go Launcher.
B) ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100 sets jpeg img quality to 100%
C) windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=55 improves performance.
......more to come soon.
Have attached my build.prop as build.prop.txt all u need is removing .txt at the end.
2) Tried boot animation and its simple by replacing bootanimation.zip in /system/media/
3) Never liked typing password/pin/pattern for unlocking the device, I used this one methode for Galaxy S2 to have security less/administrator less email. You can try it from following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117452
Alternatively follow following steps;
How to apply this patch?
1) Root your phone. Your phone must be rooted. It is impossible to apply this patch without root access. You need root to proceed. Get Java (Java SE JRE v6 or 7)
2) Get USB drivers. Most likely you already have this because of step 1.
3) Enable USB debugging on the phone (Settings->Applications->Development->USB debugging)
*must have a working adb connection.
4) Download and unzip attached patch email policy zip.
5) Run apply-patch.cmd
* Mac/Linux users: run apply-patch-nix.sh for further instructions
THANKS rustamabd from Galaxy S2 forum for this, its whole and solely his work, I have only copied his work.
Zipaligning your apps.
Here is a way to zipalign all your systems for better performance as zipaligned apps consume less RAM.
1) Unzip attached zipalign.zip anywhere on your windows machine.
2) Open cmd run command adb pull /system/app app_stock. This will copy all apps from system/app to app_stock folder.
3) Run zip-align.exe and click select folder with apks and choose folder app_stock of step 2 and click yes when it asks open output folder with .bat
4) The folder that will open will contain one zipalign.bat file, run this batch file by double clicking it.
5) When it completes all your zipalign apps will in folder zipalignedapps in same folder as of bat file.
6) Run cmd and navigate to the folder where zipalignedapps folder is. Run adb push zipalignedapps /sdcard/
7) Reboot phone recovery(CWM recovery only) and goto mount menu, mount sdcard and system
8) Open cmd on your computer and run commands in same sequence as following.
adb shell cp /sdcard/zipalignedapps/* /system/app/
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/*
9) unmount system and sdcard
10) goto advance menu of recovery and wipe dalvik cache
11) reboot your phone. It will take some time to reboot but will be fine.
Thanks to Jip-Jan for the zipalign application.
New battery circle mod.
download attached batterycirclemod.zip and place framework-res.apk in /system/framework/ folder and
place SystemUI.apk in /system/app/. wipe delvik cache from CWM recovery and reboot.

Ok so you can go through my thread,
there are various things which will fascinate you about this handset.
You can also contribute there.
It will be easy for all of us if we keep this together in a single thread which will make it easy for newbees to get a hold of what they look for.
As we all know , info for this handset is not that easy to find as its an OEM.

Thanks, I had already gone through your thread and its very helpful. But the point my friend is it becomes very difficult to go through all those pages to get to what exactly u were looking for. In my opinion one should post a different thread when it has different purpose. This will also help us increase the thread count for our device and get us our own section.

Video Calling in Gtalk is supported in ICS.
For video calls you need a client like Fring or Skype.
For other FM app, try Spirit FM
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=55 improves phone performance.

II . BACK-UP STOCK ROM/ ROM DUMP :
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
1) ROOT is necessary. It is recommended to put the phone in 'Airplane mode' so that it won't disturb the process and make sure you have ~500 mb space in SD card.
2) Download 'BackUpTools.rar' from Tools Box (scroll down) or attachments and extract it to your SD Card. You'll have 2 folders - 'gscript' and 'Install'.
3) Install 'GScriptLite.apk' from gscript folder.
3) After installation, open the 'GScriptLite' application -> Menu -> Add Script.
4) Tick 'Needs SU ?'
5) Click 'Load File' and select 'Back23.sh' and then select 'save'
6) Now Click on 'Back 23' and Super User will ask for Permission and allow it. Nothing more to touch. Wait for few minutes. After few mins, it will say 'Auto Close is Cancelled'. Now its safe to close.
7) Your Back-Up will be in 'backup_' folder located in your SD card's root.
It will have files named ' firmware.info, preloader.img, nvram.img, seccnfg.img, uboot.img, boot.img, recovery.img, secstatic. img, misc.img, logo.img, expdb.img, cache.img, system.img, data.img' in that folder. Copy it to your computer and keep it at a safe place. More Over if you are posting in the forums or sharing it online, don't include ' data.img, cache.img and nvram.img' as they contain your personal information.

hi, here is the modified build.prop. check it out

SS|DS|UB |SCRIPT| [CM11/KK][JB] Blazing Thunder [Speed|Performance] [Tested On CM11]

I noticed that there are a lot of great tweaks out there for android phones, but most users cant find them because they're distributed all over XDA. So here i am, with a collection of those tweaks, in an All in one flashable zip. Merged some, modified some, add a lot. Its pretty much a universal tweak, it will work on every device, except for 2 or 3 files modified to work on our Xperia M.
And if your going to add this to your ROm, please let me know and add me to the credits!
How to's-
Install:
1. Boot into CWM
2. Wipe dalvik cache
3. Flash zip
4. Reboot
Do note that the ROM will take time to boot up, so don't go on doing something crazy like removing the battery.
Thunder Features:
-Cleaned up
-MUCH better Ram usage
-Cache Cleared at every boot
-SD speed tweak
-Logger removed
-Better browser performance
-Sysctl tweaks
-Added modified Zram script
-Better battery life
-Lag? GONE
-Faster GUI
-Loopy smoothness tweak
-Apps zipaligned at every boot
-Faster Networking
-Smoother LWP animation
-Adrenaline boost
-Kernel Tweaks
-Better gaming
Supported:-
All devices with init.d support
-All GB ROMs
-All ICS ROMs
-All JB ROMs
-All KK ROMs - Found some tweaks working here, tested.

but first, I need to ask permission first to my wife coz the device isn't mine..
One question before o try this...
Instead of init.d from kernel, can i run the scripts from init.qcom.post_boot.sh?

Why try something hard when you have an easy method available. .sh method may not work or it may. I don't know anything 'bout this method. Since, I have bought this device just now few days back.
Coming from the Samsung Series, I have very less idea 'bout this phone.

Let me explain. Stock kernel doesn't support init.d and i don't have an unlocked bootloader. I will flash the zip with Flash Gordon. To execute the scripts I will modify that file, which executes post boot obviously, to execute those scripts. Just by adding the line:
/etc/init.d/*
you get init.d support in stock kernel

Hey mate.. ive modified the file you said and added the "/etc/init.d/*" at the very bottom of the init.qcom.post_boot.sh file and flashed in flash gordon (i also dont have an unlocked bootloader).
Nothing seems to have happened though... am i missing something? Did you get this tweak to work?
Regards,
Chris.
---------- Post added at 05:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
ok so just to clarify, ive scrolled to the bottom of the init.qcom.post_boot.sh file pressed return so there is a space then added the /etc/init.d/* so it looks like this...
" ;;
esac
/etc/init.d/*"
Is this correct? first time i did it i got a bootloop :S so i just took the battery out and back in and it booted fine... the phone booted normally though - didnt take ages as suggested, not sure if its working or not :S the phone seems fluid and fast but it always has since i got it (thats why im not overly stressed that i cant unlock my bootloader and get elixer yet) and i haven't added any mods/or tweaks apart from AC!D audio mod and the x-reality engine.
Any info from the OP or you Antrikos would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
**OK i think i have it working, but i just did an Antutu benchmark and ive gone from 1163 to 10602 :S surely that cant be right?**

For confirmation of script's installation, head towards system/etc/init.d to see if the folder exists, and if there are same files as that in the zip.
And antutu benchmarks are never stable. All I want is that your phone remains lagfree and smooth regardless of the antutu or other crap.
Thanks.

Hold on a second... Elixir don't support init.d. We need to create a folder manually for that...
Don't flash with Flash Gordon. Copying and pasting the files from the zip to their respective paths is much easier imo. That's how I did it. And I edited the init.qcom.post_boot.sh manually, didn't flash it.

Right I tried copying the files to their respected folders from the zip but my phone just restarts...
ive installed the init.d apk and im reflashing using flash Gordon now ive rebooted and it says its optimising applications etc
OP if I copy the zip contents to the init.d folder do I just copy them all as they are i.e the bin folder etc folder and the the other one into the init.d folder
sorry to be a pain, im hardly a n00b to this stuff (I had an xperia ray before this modded to f**k) but ive tried running the supercharger script and EVERY time it just reboots my phone, so im trying this one and ive modified the init.qcom.post_boot.sh like antrikos said.
ive got FULL root and ive flashed using flash Gordon, but it wont let me copy the files to their respected folders using a root explorer EVEN after changing the permissions (EVERY time I copy a file to the system my phone just restarts :S) never had this problem on my ray.
Oh and btw to the person that asked I flashed the v7 acid mod using flash Gordon... worked perfectly first time... dno why you might be having problems mate sorry...
grrr I wish I just could unlock the bootloader - would make things soooo much easier.
***update right now flash Gordon is telling me that its not a flashable zip?? :S confused because before it said it was fine***

[Guide]Deodex LG Stock KitKat Rom

As the title say, follow this guide to deodex your stock or stock based(Sling,VDT etc) roms.
In case you dont know what is odex and deodex, check out this awesome thread,,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224570
Before doing any thing Always Make Nandroid Backup
Things Needed
Java(https://www.java.com/en/download/)
Rooted Device
Usb debugging enabled(for pulling files)
Downloads
http://d-h.st/pCI#.U4cLVPmSwgM (based on Kamome tool)
Guide
extract the downloaded tool
run main.bat(be sure to run as admin)
select option 1 create working folder (if this give you subdirectory already then created continue anyway)
Now Select option 2( phone should be connected to pc with usb debugging enabled and phone should also be on charge only mode)
Select option 3 (this should take some time to deodex files)
this step is optional Use option 4 to add deodexed files to zip and flash them via recovery or you can push via adb(search google)
To flash from recovery
copy zip file( you created before ) in the phone
go to recovery
flash them and reboot
enjoy!

Q.there are many tools to deodex why use this?
A. With android 4.4 google changed something, now apps are also stored in system/priv-app, other tools available to deodex are only created to deodex file stored in system/app.
Q.Tool gives me some kind of java error at the start?
A.Install Java for your respective system e.g 32bit or 64bit. Also dont continue further if you get this message other wise you will get bootloop
Q.My phone is not detected by this tool?
A. install adb drivers..
Issues
1= On sling rom, when deodexed stock keyboard FC and weather widget also wont work(dont know why)

May be you are doing something wrong, have you installed proper adb drivers and java. This method works perfect with stock or any custom firmware(I deodexed, 30b, 30c and sling rom) . I have also deodexed htc m8 stock rom with this...
Bro, connection is super sh... ty cant share deodexed rom...
Yes I've installed Java and Adb drivers , Adb is recognising my device . Apparently doing everything as per guide but don't know why it's not doing

That's because the framework is different. Changing lg framework may help you to get sms app working, but it may make other apps to FC

I suggest you update the first post.

Dear Ahmed vai,
Thanks for the response. My phone is working well with Sling Rom as there are options of Selecting 2g/3G. Whn i select 2g only, the phone;s network signal is good and if i select 3g then the network bar up and downs severly...and no one reach me / i cant call to others. So, I am always select 2g. No way to find out the solution and In sling My front camera is not working.
Hope you are in Good Health. Take care Brother.
Regards,

Well, sling is not a custom ROM. It's actually a cooked firmware. If you're searching for such a cooked firmware based on stock kk for E975, nothing so far.
FM radio doesn't work on F 180 @clickanu

I do not know what the original poster meant to write but checkout apps4flip, they are a website which provides apks for 4G Flip phones.
Hope this helps.
apps for flip
Apps4flip.com is only a very limited amount of
Apps and there is no messaging apps there
Also wondering
I would also like to find the answer to this exploit. I was at apps4flip before I came here looking. At apps4flip it explicitly states in the faq that others have found this apk signature exploit and I expected that if I was going to find these 'others' this would be the place.
apk on flip
if you send the apk file via bluetooth the installing process is starting, then you get a message that u can't install from unknown sources.
if you could solve this, you could put up anything
Decompile the app.
Change the package name in androidmanifest.xml to com.android.cts.appname.
Recompile the app.
Sign the app with any generic debug certificate.
App will now install to any android based flip phone.
(CTS stands for compatibility test suite, and if you rename the package as such it will bypass the phones signature check, therefore allowing the app to install.)

Just the package name needs to be changed? Like could I just do this with APK editor -> common edit -> change package name?
i've done all of the steps in your post but i can't seem to figure out how to sign apps. with a generic debug certificate. could you explain how this is done?
It worked!

How to get Theme Store and other apps that do not come with EU phone version.(Root)

I found a way to get theme store and other apps that come with other region phone versions but you need to have root. This is for EU phone, I do not know if this work on other phones versions .Also I am on Realme ui c28 version .
The apps are installed but hidden, the apps that this give are theme store, google phone, google contacts, google messages and app market. It also unlock call recording . I bet that you can add only several of them but because I can freeze or uninstall them later I did not continue to find a way to do it. I recommend to do this to this after installing stock rom or after doing factory reset as at first I think that it did not work for me, maybe because I tried to install many versions of themes apk.
Instructions
1.You need to download any file explorer that can access system folder, I used root explorer (paid app)
2.You need to go to /system/etc/oppoRegionMarkFeatures and copy com.oppo.regionmark.EUEX.xml and com.oppo.regionmark.RU.xml to internal storage in case that you want to revert this change .
3.Delete com.oppo.regionmark.EUEX.xml on /system/etc/oppoReginMarkFatures and rename com.oppo.regionmark.RU.xml to com.oppo.regionmark.EUEX.xml .
4.You need to go to /system/etc/ and copy the blacklist folder to internal storage in case that you want to revert this change.
5.You need to go to /system/etc/ and delete the folder blacklist .
6.Reboot the phone .
7.you need to go to setting and now you see on the top under search, sign in or something similar, click on it and register an account. Then you can go to setting, then click on "home screen & lock screen magazine", scroll down and you will see "Set Theme ."
8.Now you can select any theme you want and hit apply. The themes that you see is based on the region that you set the phone to, you can select India and reboot the phone and you will see other themes, most of them cost money but if you search free, you will see a free ones . You can also find a guides of how to install a paid themes for more then 5 minutes free trial .
Will the replacement of EUEX with RU create any problems?
I tried your procedure and it worked, but I reverted it waiting for your answer.
By the way, the themes will affect only stock launcher, right? Not the system interface, or am I wrong?

I do not think that it will crate any problem, I am on c28 and all work as before, nothing is removed, only added .The EUEX (Europa) has restriction that that Russia does not, It just easier to rename the files and not need to download any other files. Also can you tell me what firmware you are ? I want to confirm if it work on any other firmware other then c28 as I think that they change some files .Here is a link to download the blacklist folder - https://mega.nz/file/EM0lhLgZ#dqHsIf8LlfJmWzvbCTAxwmBAJuoIvL1EYD86p6yuoAg
The Theme can affect the system interface, notification panel but not all do it, most do not.

Hi. I'm on C.28 downloaded from European site.
And thank you for blacklist folder. Now I'll add files again. Except for app manager I'm not interested in the other apps. And of the themes I tried none was interesting.
But your method is amazing. And I can confirm the whole morning I haven't had a single problem.

I do not mind that you translate or share this guide, just do not forgot to write that it work on c28 and this is not tested on other versions. I once tried to do it on c27 and it did not work but I edit some other files before, so maybe it cause the theme store to have problems applying themes.
Hi, this does not work on RUI 2.0 F.14. Do you have another steps to perform so i can unlock the hidden apps?
