wallet question - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I signed up for google wallet and got the free $10. The sign up was super easy and I only had to choose which email address to use. That gets me to my question.
How does google know they already gave you the free $10 if you sign up with a different email?

It's per device.
E.g. I got $10 on my Galaxy Nexus and another $10 on my Nexus 7 - same email address. Balance is unique to the device, not the account as such... account+device, my Galaxy Nexus has like $14 left, Nexus 7 says $10 (still)... I've got another account on my phone which has $50 or so, but on the N7 it shows $0.00 (as i've never added cash via the N7 on that account)

Can Google Wallet be used without a network connection?

Nope

Yes it can. The communication needed for validation / confirmation of your purchase is up to the retailer's NFC terminal.

When I signed in to it today I got the $10 dollars even though my previous balance was something like 0.22 cents.

It can be used without data or wifi. Used it myself today at cvs

Google Wallet free $10.00

If you set up Google Wallet on your gnex, and I know you're gonna, right now when you set up a prepaid card with Google, you get 10 bucks just for setting it up. Pretty cool.

For those of you with the extra 5, does it show anything in your transaction history?

Guys. Don't you ever check your email?
Hello,
As you may have experienced over the last few weeks, we temporarily disabled the feature to add the Google Prepaid Card back to your wallet if you previously removed the card or reset your wallet. We temporarily disabled this feature to ensure the security of our Wallet customers. We recognize this may have been an inconvenience for you, and we did not make this decision lightly.
We are happy to announce that you can now add the Google Prepaid Card back to your wallet with the newest version of Google Wallet, and any funds that you previously had on the card should be restored, unless you contacted Money Network and asked for a refund of those funds. To add the Google Prepaid Card back, you will first need to update your Google Wallet application to the most recent version.
To compensate you for any inconvenience this may have caused, we have credited an additional $5 (five US dollars) to your Google Prepaid Card. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at 855-492-5538.
Thank you for your continued support of Google Wallet, and we look forward to launching many new and exciting features for you to enjoy in the coming months.
Sincerely,
The Google Wallet Team

Although at the top it now says unsupported device. More info says they don't support rooted and unofficial roms.

Q about $50 google wallet offer.

I successfully setup google wallet with my gmail account. I then selected google pre-paid card. I flashed over to CM9 now and Google wallet doesn't work apparently. Will i still get the 40$ left?
If the money was on the pre paid card already, yes.

Yup it should the only thing that matters is to maintain the device active on your account fro sprint a Google to credit you
Funny when you used people stares at the phone and you have to explain to them ha ha

It's hilarious when the cashier flips. I definitely can't wait until this technology goes mainstream.
Thanks guys! I went back to stock ROM to maintain working Google Wallet.. i re-added the pre-paid card option. I will be keeping my device activated on the account. The pre-paid card shows 10$ in it already. Anyway to check status if I will be getting the 40$ left?

Is it possible to make several Google accounts and just install Wallet and get $10

Each time? Technically you could have an unlimited amount of $10 or whatever they're giving because you're getting rid of the other account for a new account and install wallet and get $10, right?

I'm sure they track the IMEI.
Good luck with you fraud.
I never said I was going to do it. I was just asking if it was possible. I kind of knew they would detect the device on a hardware level too.

Wallet is tied to the hardware. Not your Google account. Example; before I had a gnex I had a nexus s. I got $10 on each phone using the same Google account.

Had a Nexus S 4G with $8, moved on to Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile and had $10. Had I not ported my number and deactivated the Nexus S 4G, I would have had $18 But spread across 2 different devices.
I had two faulty Gnexus so I ended up with $30 from google over the month. Too bad they weren't as generous as Sprint!

So I went to try out NFC today... ($10 on sprint gnex)

Okay long story short, I had a terrible allergy attack and saw my doctor today. He prescribed 2 different medicines so i went to walgreens where they have the NFC terminals. The pharmacist told me they had 1 in stock and the other was at another walgreens nearby and I had to pick it up there. Each costed $10
Went to pay for the first one and... roaming!(without data) so I paid with cash and went to the other store to try it out with the other medicine... and no signal inside but full 3g outside!. So I paid with cash again and left.
So I am still stuck with those $10 on my gnex ugh!
talk about a crappy day at least my allergy symptoms have slowed :fingers-crossed:
You know Google Wallet doesn't need a data connection to pay?
It won't give a proper statement in your "Transactions" page, but it still works.
Also get better man.
I don't think Walgreen's has activated the NFC on their terminals yet.
I could be wrong.

*cost
I didn't get my free 10 bucks when I activated the Google wallet thing should I contact them?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
You will receive the $10 on the prepay card
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah it says 0 balance on the prepaid card and this is the first time I ever sign up for Google wallet

damnit! learn something new every day I guess.
To the guy not getting his $10, is your phone new (from the store) or used? When I got my refurb Nexus it didnt show the $10 but when it gave me problems I had it swapped for a BNIB and the $10 were there. The money is not per google account, its per participating device.

I just figured that out. My original Nexus I got in a trade didn't give me the $10 on wallet. The replacement one that I have now did

No I got it in a trade from another XDA member so I guess that explains it :-\

i used it at a cvs or walgreens dont remember which one sprint gave me 40$ or i think 10 from google and 30 from sprint, not sure, anyways it didnt work the first time so the second time i tried it while using a hacked prl to roam on verizon (sprint is terrible in my area) and it worked like a charm dont know whats up with that really.
