NFC Use through Lockscreen on Nexus 7 and Operating App In Front of Lock Screen - NFC Hacking

Hey guys,
I did some searching and asked in some IRC channels, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. I heard Biwoto Cerbero can maybe do I what I want it to do, but even though I'm in New Jersey, their app keeps downloading in Spanish for me. (I emailed them, I'll update this thread if that app can do what I want)
Basically, I have a Nexus 7 I'm trying to enable as a beer pouring authenticator for the Kegbot project. NFC authentication is easy past the lockscreen, but I also want to be able to use the tablet. Seeing as how I'm in college, letting some drunk friends play with my personal gmail sounds like a bad idea.
So I have two questions. One, I haven't seen this for the Nexus 7, but I know it's possible-- how hard would it be (presumably in a custom ROM) to enable NFC to work with the lockscreen off?
Two, is it possible to implement a top lock over my pattern unlock, wherein the top lock (could be anything, but presumably just a simple swipe) would allow access to only one application (the Kegbot app that responds to authenticated NFC tags by offering to pour a beer), but still keep another lockscreen in place to prevent other apps from being used?
That would also allow me to keep an app that writes specific strings or something to the tags to allow for access control if I don't want people rewriting their own NFC cards. (Though I could always write lock those)
Thanks!

Hate to reply to myself, but I think I've found the answer.
So my googling turned up this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5iaXdvdGEuY2VyYmVybyJd
It has some localization issues they're trying to fix, but it's not hard to change the language to English if you play around with the settings.
I've been emailing back and forth with one of the developers, who has been helping me out a ton. If you have the premium version (only a dollar), you can call their lock screen (either PIN or NFC) to come up after you leave the application you are in that you want to restrict access to. So I have my face unlock, get past the Cerbero lock, then I open my app. I call an intent in the app on destruction of the launcher activity that brings up the lock again. It's not the cleanest solution, but it works for my purposes.

Did you have any luck being able to use NFC without having to unlock the screen? i've seen other device specific solutions on xdad but nothing for the Nexus 7
Thanks.

Some time ago there was a modified nfc apk wich worked in both my nexus s and galaxy nexus...and it could do that.

I belive it was on gnex themes and apps forum.

Anyone found out how to get NFC working without the screen being on?
I've tried several methods under Gnex and GS3 forums but it doesn't work.

face unlock is the best
Yeah, try Face unlock, its soooo cool. There are plenty of unlock options, just go to Settings>Lock Screen>and/or Lock Screen Options.
Yeah but,
Great ideas everyone, but none of these options are available if you have an Exchange account. Depending on your Exchange policy, the user may not even have the Settings entries described above.
Assuming you want to (Or are forced to) keep the PIN pad, is there any way to change the behavior to what the OP described?
Use a third party email client -- I use Touchdown (I have no affiliation with them, other than having paid them $$$ for the privilege to use their product). This allows you to ignore device policies for the whole phone EXCEPT the contact with the exchange server. And my solution works reasonably well.
Alternatively, you could root and then fake out your exchange server -- there is a separate thread about this floating around these forums (Note 2 forums) somewhere.
In any case, good luck.

Possible? broke lcd, unlock PIN from PC

Hey guys! My Galaxy s3 i747 from At&t has the lcd broken, I want to extract my information but since I do not have an LCD, I cannot input my pin so that the computer recognizes the device. Is there ANYTHING i can do? bypass the lockscreen from the PC to access the folders on android and recover my docs, or input the PIN from some sort of command, or screencast to succesfuly bypass this only barrier to get my pictures that are the most important part.

I will try that which helps, but the problem is that I had keepsafe app which hides pictures and documents which are really hidden folders. Which a normal backup I think would not back up, there are documents therewhich are of extreme value. That is why I am looking for a way to access the phone.
I tried screencasting but since it is not in debug mode, i guess it doesnt appear in my computer for the cast to access it.thanks
I saw a post someone saying that people don't use the search enough but a way to back up data.. The way it works from reading it was if you are rooted. I have a question. does any part of your screen work or is it just a big blob of color**. also I stopped rooting and modding my phone after getting a good one due to bugs in custom roms. Having stock allows me to call Samsung and ***** and rage and have support. Don't get me wrong the modding community is great and I respect that. But my phone is pretty much my work it has to work how it was sold to me.
I hope there is a way to allow you to fix it yourself with out sending it to Samsung. Or having to pay top dollar for your data.
also search on the internet has become to the point of hopeless, most the time you have to word it right or know the tech term to get the answer easy. I feel your pain and respect the fact you had the guts to ask for help.

Exchange email security

Hello,
I would like to know if there any way to remove security from exchange email. I really hate to put a security or pin number when I need to look at my phone''. Any help?
Thanks

Cool way = tasker+ autoloction + auto+auto input
You can make your phone enter the pin automatically when you are in specified locations ie home, at work or in car.
Other than that I don't know.

do you have a guide for this? I have tasker.
I've never had the need for a pin on my email so I couldn't tell you exactly what tasks to make.

No!!!! Well thanks anyway. I'm sure google knows the answer.
Of course there is a way... this is android
Here is a flashable zip which is a modded Mail.apk. It works on all android devices

Here is a mod which also contains an option to disable exchange security requirements. It works on atnt and tmobile galaxy s4

Motorola Skip on Other Devices

I have looked all over XDA and Google looking for an answer, so I hope I am not starting a repetitive thread.
I got my girlfriends Moto X in the mail today and she got a free Motorola Skip with it. She isn't going to use it, so I figured I would try and set it up on my HTC One. I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions, or tips? Has this been done yet?

I'm fairly sure a lot of people would. I'd like the quick notifications feature too.
Assuming you know how to NFC, can you scan it with NFC tag info and post the results?
I'll have a looksie see how it works.
(Scan tag, email to yourself then copy/paste from the email)

Thanks for posting this, was just coming online to post the same answer. Interested in the results.
If its just a standard tag - doubtful, but who knows with googorolla these days - I have an app called nfcsecure that does a similar thing. Due to limitations of the framework, I can't actually turn the screen on, but its an NFC lockscreen.

[Q] Using phone as NFC key?

Hi everyone,
i have just purchased a nexus 5 after a long wait for its release, so i am now going to have an nfc enabled phone. I go to a university where we have nfc tags instead of keys and i would like to know if it would be possible to write the information from the nfc tag to my phone so i will be able to use my phone as my key so i dont have to keep taking my key around with me.
any help with this would be much appreciated, or if its just not technically possible at least it will have put this idea to rest in my head
Thanks guys

Thanks for the reply! Just got an email from google saying my N5 has shipped cant wait to try this!
Id be a bit concerned if my campus keycard system could be cloned by anyone with nfc on their phone. If your school is on their and puts some level of encryption on their system. Then again if they are at all like my school was when it comes to tech, clone away!
endlywi distinct
unfortunately the key is encrypted but got my nexus 5 so woo!
You might be able to talk to the person who runs the keycards and get them to flash your phone but id highly doubt they'd let you do it.
