[TWEAK] To improve performance - HTC Wildfire S

Hey,
While grazing through the web, i found some tweaks to improve the performance of our phone. I flashed it and found my phone noticeably faster. It may be placebo effect but why dont you guys try it out and let me know!! :good:

Hi,
What kind of performance did you notice? And can you provide some examples? With benchmarks if is possible?

The general speed of scrolling has improved. The whole UI seems much smoother.. I didnt run any benchmarks yet, but will do so shortly..

The original thread about that tweak is dead. No update anymore. probably some script doesn't effect with a new ROMs.

I think it had more to do with the OP's account being disabled rather than the tweak not working on new roms...

This is the score i got. Max freq:600 Mhz Min freq: 200 Mhz. Governor: smartass v2. And i must say i have a crappy class 2 sd card..

nice result. What ROM are you using? You can set the 806Mhz processor and check the result?
it's not work for me, i have the same result without thi mod..

what were the initial score ?? without this patch i mean ???

Agree, it would be useful to give before and after results and info n which Rom
Sent from my HTC Desire C

it is not work. I have with and without this mod the same score - something like 1966 in atuntu.

Wihout the tweaks:
787 MHz max - 245 Mhz min Governer= Scary
32GB class 10
SD Booster - 2048
BEATSenseless rom (android 2.3.5)
With de Tweaks:
787 MHz max - 245 Mhz min Governer= Scary
32GB class 10
SD Booster = 2048
BEATSenseless rom (android 2.3.5)
For me is works, but for how long....i hope for a while...
we shall see
Thanks for the tweaks

I think we can all agree that there's no development in this thread. You should probably report this and have it moved.
Edit: also, I this gives a 50 point boost in antutu. But you just can't feel ll it

I see.. nothing ! but without higher score ...buts ~ same

Hey,
build.prop tweaks aren't exactly meant to improve your performance scores, rather than to improve the general usability. These tweaks dont necessarily boost your benchmarks. If you see an increase in benchmarks, then great! But the effect it has, has to be felt rather than seen!!

Yes, i think it is.

And we are likely to get higher scores in GB than in ICS, because GB is fully optimised for our devices, while ICS is sort of modded to work.. (no offence to the great devs who made porting ICS possible in the first place!)

I belive thse are just bunch of init.d tweaks so any rom that supports init.d should work. In terms of scores you wont see any significant changes. This doesnt iprove your ram work or your gpu and cpu speed. You will however see overall improvement on stock roms and not neceserly on moded ROMs as they alrady have their own tweaks.

It worked !!!!

I wouldnt say that there was a huge difference in the performance but yeah, the scrolling speed, a small glitch in the graphic interface sometimes when some heavy was in background etc did reduce to nill.......

[Q] Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC2, tweak?

Hi!
I updated my HTC desire GSM from 7.1 stable to 7.2 RC2. It works fine, fast, no more WiFi bug, but I have a few questions.
-Should I use stock kernel?
-My friend has a wildfire S, he told me tha the had been able to put an update for the Adreno graphics, and got like a 200-300 benchmark point increase. Is there something like this available for the HTC Desire?
-I would like to know what you guys use as tweak, like CPU performance profil (ondemande, min/max).
Thanks
Can anyone explain to me why benchmark scores matter so much? I've never been a fan of benchmark scores. If its fast for you, then it IS fast for you. Some get high benchmark scores but the rom lags like hell. Would the benchmark score make you believe it IS a fast rom although it lags?
The only tweak I do with CM is use ManU kernel. No overclocking and all that bull. Default governor.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Benchmarking is not something I need, having the highest. I just like to optimise to the maximum
What difference have you seen between the stock kernel and ManU kernel?
Thanks
the new adreno-libs are more important on ICS (e.g CM9) because the UI of ICS is gpu-accelereated. On CM7.2 there is know real advantage, the UI won't run any smoother or faster. Maybe Angry Birds is running faster, but who cares

The maximum benchmark scores doesn't equate to an optimum device.
Check the kernel out. The thread for the kernel is on the Development Section. Just to a search. I get better battery life with it than the stock kernel on CM7.
Thanks guys! I'll search on it !
By the way, is there a way to backup the original kernel? or I need to reflash the 7.2 RC2 over to get it back?

You can just reflash the rom or just to a nandbackup via recovery before testing the kernel. Do a nandrestore if you dont like it.
Okay that sounds good. Thanks, I'll give a try
Install ADW EX launcher for replacement, and ManU kernel you will see what is smooth and fast

[GUIDE] Antutu score

UPDATE:
im just gonna tell you how to to get the best antutu benchmark score you can
what you will need:
antutu benchmark ovcourse
no-frills cpu
build.prop editor (paid version)
RAM manager PRO (need pro free will not work)
SD speed boost
1. right lets get started first off all what you wana do is OC your phone
best result i have found is min max with sio
2. then open RAM manger PRO and set ram settings to balance may be different with other roms
and change VM heap size to 48 and exit.you may get better score with other options this is just how i do it so have a play round
3.then you want to go to SD boost and set your SD cache to 2048(depending on sd card) and save
4.now you want to go to build.prop editor and add property type
"debug.gr.swapinterval" as the key and "0" as the value both without
qoutes
now simply reboot you phone and run Antutu benchmark may need to run 2 or 3 times to get consistant scores
now this is only what i have done to maximise my score feel free to try you own combinations
if you get any improvement dont forget to hit thanks :good:
And result of yours?

Guys please share your findings and what you do to get your best scores (2000 or above) so that the others can test them on their devices, that's what forums and communities are about. If you don't want to share them with the rest of us you can keep your "private" tweaks, apps, settings and other gimmicks that you do to boost your scores, it sounds like you are cheating anyways.
your exactly right mate well here you go
rom: EQDKP sense 3.5
sd cache size: 1920
ram settings: balance using ram manager pro
825 OC using ondemand/deadline
added debug.gr.swapinterval=0 to build.prop using build.prop editor
hope it helps
Thank you.
What does the line in build.prop do?
I actualy get better scores with performance governor and default samsung in ram manager than with ondemand and hard gaming.

to be honest i dont know but it increased my score by about 50 to 80 points lol and yea thats exactly why people should try there own combinations

Share, what rom and kernel are you using? Why?

I am a fairly new xda user, but not too new about flashing and using tweaks.
I created Thread to share what I use and why and might help others as well.
Beforehand, My priority in a rom and kernel is smoothness and battery life. I'm a light gamer(kairosoft lol)

hadi! I was wondering, I tried your kernel once... twice... Wasn't sure if there was too much tweaks in my phone or whatever the problem might be, when I used 1.2, my phone goes into sleep state when I locked device, and when I wake it, it took quite a few seconds for the device screen to show up... Actually I'm a mass kernel flasher so I'd really wanna try your kernel too. Is your lulzactive 245-1024MHz settings battery friendly?

ERM... Actually, no. PMR has some very very nice tweaks and mods that just reduces lag.[Not significantly but quite nice]
*[Smooth]|[Powerful]|[WONDERFUL]*
ROM: SlimBean 3.1.0 by camcory
Kernel: forfivo's v2 (smartassv2 - sio - 245MHz/1401MHz)
Tweaks/Mods: JellyBOOM V2, Seeders APK, Disable CPU Rendering, Disable Surface Dithering
For the ROM, I prefer SlimBean because of its size, with JellyBOOM, Seeders and forfivo's maybe it only takes 80-90 MB's compared to any other ROM. So for a stable, slow connection (around 20-30kB/s) it's fairly fast enough to download.

I used SlimBean once, the fluidity is actually better than Arco's CM10 by default. But I'm not sure if its my device or any other reasons, it consumes battery quite quickly when I underclock it. Nothing much to be said about forfivo's kernel. Been loving it since ICS v1.

Certain Tweaks when used together tends to clash and gives negative effect.
And if those apps you installed will run on background it tends to get laggy.
I use only Seeders and Disable CPU rendering.
I use forfivo's kernel because hadi's version have problem running on my device.
Until hadi fix the bigmem bug on external sd. I'd stick to forfivo.

Quadrant scores chart - Xperia S/SL, Acro S, Ion

Hi!
Click on the picture to see the scores:

If you click on my signature picture you will be also led to my Excel table with Quadrant scores for every ROM I tested on my Xperia S. I ran every benchmark twice for each ROM so that's why there are duplicates.
It is pretty detailed and can help recognize progress in ROMs between versions or between stock vs. custom based ROMs.
But, I don't have much time to test every individual ROM here so I would be glad if you could help me.
Post your Quadrant scores here. Screenshot would be preferable.
Also I could use following infomation:
Which phone (S, Acro S, Ion) - must have!
Which ROM
Which kernel (preloaded or custom)
CPU and I/O scheduler
Android version
Any type of overclock
I recommend running benchmarks more than once to cross out any weird scores and to get as precise results as possible.
This is NOT a competition for highest score, this is just for comparison between ROMs and performance settings just to have a clearer picture which ROM has better drivers, more tweaked kernel, better FPS for games etc.
If you have some ideas, new benchmark tools (which are consistent and as accurate as it gets) - post it and we'll see what can I do.
Don't use I/O hacks because it is very easy to spot them. Any weird score will be dismissed.
Updates are almost on daily basis with constant little tweaks to make it more detailed but as clean as possible. Everyone hates cluttered Excel tables
Explanations:
Cells with red edges have further explanations if you hover over them;
Headers have sort buttons - you can sort whatever you want!;
On the right side is link that switches between scores and charts;
You are free to download this table but please ask me if you want to modify it and redistribute further.
No ICS? By the way, on fully stock ICS (daily driver that I used for more than a year straight, more than 30 installed apps, social network crap disabled) I get around 3350. I ran it right now and got 3318 (6448,2914, 4347,1000,1881).
Looks like JB's only improvement is in I/O (and only on the stock based JellySlim), everything else is same or inferior to stock ICS.
Whelp.

Performance boost mod for ANY ROM [Scary performances]

I owned an gs2 b4 and used this mod its great performance booster.
It will work almost any phone and any rom(tested on nexus4 cm11 with similar hardware as zl and gs2 cm11)
ART Compatible (tested on nexus 4 )
It is not tested on xperia zl thats why i m sharing this but most probably it should work.
Plz do the backup before flashing because
I am only sharing this work i dont own this project
So sorry to say but i will not be able to answer any queries
Flash it at your own risk but it should work
Here you go with download link!
Improved gold edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670
Reverse Mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43543566&postcount=62
Instructions:
Download the mod for your repective rom (download cm version for custom roms) from link!
1.flash it via cwm
2.wipe cache and dalvik
3.while rebooting system it will ask "disable recovery flash?" select "yes"
4.and there you go!
Note
If you select No in "disable recovery flash?" you will face problems in booting in recovery
If something messes up
Nothing to worry just do a clean wipe (data cache and system) and install your previous rom.(thats why a backup is recommended )
but most probably it will work.(recommended)
OR you can use reverse mod in the link provided

Tested on PAC Rom nightlies.
Adaway stops working after that and ads show up in several apps.
Speeds up system ui animations and everything seems to be smoother.
But no impact on benchmark scores.
Also, battery seems to drain faster.
Maybe it has a better effect on stock version..

In my case I've got 70 more points in Antutu Benchmark and no faster battery drain.
Besides that, I totally agree with you.
Edit:
Found a "fix" for AdAway not working.
or use
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/DISABLE_ADBLOCK

I found that command in here

ACTUALLY THE MOD IS MENT TO DECREASE BATTERY USAGE for me it doesnt drain
Ok tested on cm11 and well... Doesn't make much difference... Few tweaks it enables is decrease the animation speed to .5x in developer options.... And allow plurging of assets in performance
Apart from that it does apply some minfree tweaks but in neither the benchmarks nor in normal usage do I see a change...
So yea I can't say it helps much in cm based roms where we could tweak the performance settings anyway... Maybe good for stock roms
Thanks for the share anyway

From my experiences on many different phone models and OS's and different methods tried, it might be good in short terms usage, but on the long run, benchmarks boosting leads to sluggish and buggy phone...

no i have been using this in my s2 since a long time until i bought zl it worked fine and benchmark is not boosted to a very high level maximus 200 it depends on the rom and it reduces lagginess

Yup it will but not much..
And to be honest.. Don't go for benchmarks ..
its all done quite easily as these boosters basically set ur cpu to performance mode whenever a fullscreen app runs.... That's it... If you look into it ull see most oems do that as well.. So u always get better benchmarks on stock roms as compared to aosp based roms.

i agree with you actually benchmarks arent that reliable for s2 it showed 200 but for many users its significantly negligibe.actually in the shared link its mentioned to increase benchmark thats why i had written "improve benchmarks"in title.rRemoved it now nomore quarrels about benchmarks!
Flashed the golden edition now and it gives me +480 Antutu points.
The fix for AdAway also works, thanks for that !
System ui responds fast and smooth. Will test it the following days and report back.

:good:
Guys the performance boost(If you feel benchmarks only show you the performance) comes from an increase in I/O score. Can anyone check that. I used to use such scripts on my galaxy 3 which atleast to some degree made me think the lag was gone . I don't think our phone needs such scripts. Our phone is already the fastest it can be and it's the fastest any phone can get right now . It can only be improved on by having better android( like an improved kernel?). Our phone has 2 gigs of RAM and do you think we need a minfree scipt for that? lol . That's the reason no one makes "scripts" for top tier phones. And those who feel the performance has been boosted check the CPU score differences in antutu, not the overall score which includes I/O too.

We do need the scripts buddy for our phones with unstable and laggy custom roms though our phones are good they arent the BEST !THIS IS JUST A WAY TO MAKE IT BETTER.if you feel so try it on ur phone.i personally dont go and rely on benchmarks
