What keyboard does everyone use?

Swift key

SwiftKey 3 Paid Version.
It's starting to have bugs.
Swype is too slow.

SwiftKey is hands down the best.

Bugs????
What Bugs????

If your a pecker then, yeah, swiftkey it popular. I didn't like it because it took up too much screen real estate. I use AnySoftKeyboard. It's decent, free, and supports non-english keyboards.

Swift key is disgusting~ lately it can't sync to FB.
Personally hate it

I actually use Thumb Keyboard.. on both my tablet AND my S3... I found that in landscape mode I can type extremely fast with it... it has a great little 'user defined keystroke' setting (where I can hit one button and my email address populates, or home mailing address, etc.. whatever we want). The prediction is actually pretty decent too.
Of course there's no fancy 'slide to type' , but I find that more of a gimmick , I type much faster using my thumbs

Swype beta here. Love it

Go keyboard with neon theme = AWESOME i love the editing tools as well

I use swift keyboard and the jellybean keyboard love them both

I'm a SwiftKey 3 paid user. Haven't found anything better for me.

Swype's temporary substitute

SlideIT keyboard, this might not be as good as Swype, at least to me Swype is better, but SlideIT is now $0.10, won't hurt to try it out I guess
Just a heads up for you guys.
thats what ive been using as well... does the job, but not as well as swype. might just take some getting used to though
I've been using the demo and it does not work for me at all. Have to swipe so slowly for it to recognise the right word that I can type much faster on a traditional keyboard. Shame.

Hey All, just saw this on the swype site, it says that it supports HD res screens. However I tried installing it and it gave me an error.

Thanks.. this is not bad for a temporary fix. It reminds me of some of the first versions of swype.

SlideIT works great for me. I've never tried swype but it looks like everyne is waiting for it. What is so much better about swype when compared to SlideIT?
I was hoping I'd like this as much as Swype... I like the ability to skin it, but I don't think it's as accurate as Swype.
Swype is almost better in every aspect. More accurate predictions, smarter auto-capitalization, better error tolerance....etc Except you don't have the ability to theme.
It truly is disappointing with their support though, SlideIT works immediately with ICS on the first day, while Swype still suffering resolution problem which I think is rather stupid, they should know Android's fragmentation by now, it might be a good idea to re-write the entire app for future proof's sake.
I highly doubt they will fix it like that since Swype makes money by licensing to OEM to use on their phones rather than selling it to users on app stores. Don't really have to worry about making them futureproof since they just have to make separate builds for each phone. The version we are using is the free beta after all so they don't have any obligation to update it.
Makes me wonder if they really do make more money doing licensing deals than they would selling them to users. Oh well.

I have missed using Swype, but in the meantime I've been using FlexT9 by Nuance, the people who make Dragon speech recognition software. It has a Swype-like feature which works almost as nicely as Swype, but lacks a couple of things that you get in Swype, like navigation arrows, cut and paste buttons, and the ability to swype words in password fields. The speech recognition on FlexT9 is simply phenomenal and worth the app price for that feature alone. Most speech recognition apps don't seem to like UK voices, but this one works even better than the speech recognition on my PC.
It's worth knowing that Nuance have just acquired the company that makes Swype, and indeed this is one of the reasons given by the Swype team for the delayed update for the GN. I really hope that we'll end up seeing the best features of Swype intergrated into the FlexT9 app, or vice-versa. For me, it would be a dream come true.

I know!!!! In a rush, 2 things at a time, and didn't realise the predictive text had kicked in. Wasnt even 'swyping' at the time!

Auto correct in keyboard

My wife misses the auto correct of the iPhone. Does Android have something as comparable, besides the predictive text? The predictive text was just totally messing up her sentences. It doesn't seem to work as good as iPhone. So I assume I'm missing something.
The default keyboard with predictive text is pretty bad. Download SwiftKey 3 Keyboard from the Google Play Store. It will cost you, but trust me, it's worth it.

Agree with above. SwiftKey is a must.
Are you guys talking about the Samsung keyboard?
That is terrible, but the jellybean keyboard is really good in predicting your words, so I'd recommend trying to get that.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Another recommendation for SwiftKey. You can type a whole book without ever using the space bar. they let you try it before you buy. 30 day trial I think. Good stuff.
Redundant by now, but yeah, go SwiftKey. You could literally mess up every letter of every word and you would never know lol.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I downloaded SwiftKey for the auto correction feature but still run into issues where (even) SwiftKey knows I spelled a word wrong but will not auto append it to the correct word its predicting. Is there a setting that I am not seeing somewhere as I've been through all the menu's (both native and 3rd party input settings)?
Thanks, she was immediately impressed with the new one.

Try Swype beta from the Swype web site. It's not available in the app market. It's predictive text is spot on most of the time and its easy to fix the mistake if it made one.

How does this compare with SwiftKey?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
it's more like swype but faster. it's already pretty good but not final yet. i like it more than swiftkey because of swiping. but maybe the next swiftkey version is even better.
Even if this isn't the final version i really like it. It works just like swype but you see the word follow you as you move your finger.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
So far like this keyboard more then swype beta and touchpal keyboards. You must unlearn certain swype gesture's for it to work correctly but very geeked for the final version and the rest of the goodies on 4.2.

You can turn off the floating following words by the way in settings.
Does anyone know how to to punctuation quickly with it like in swype? My favorite thing about this keyboard besides it's awesomeness is that it doesn't auto add every word i manually type in like swype does.

Yeah, that's my question. I hate having to manually do punctuation again, that's what I like about Swype...
For an early version this thing is fantastic.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I just figured it out. It's like Swift key. Hold down the period then your punctuation comes up.
just love it, also love the leakage community
Super accurate. I love how swiping in this keyboard leans towards common words (it, was, how, and, but. then etc.) more than Swype did. If I remember how Swype worked, it would often try to "overpredict" the words when I'm just trying to spell simple conjunction words and then I would have to go back and correct these simple words. Also, it's awesome that we don't have to do the "circle the letter" to double it like when spelling words with repeating letters. It seems like this keyboard just knows what word you want without having to do any special tricks.
I love being able to have the accurate "peck" typing keyboard while choosing to swipe if I wanted to on the same keyboard. Best of both world.

To all the people pointing out that flow doesn't work in Google Search (or similar areas) and claim it's okay, let me remind you that with the 4.2 keyboard, swiping is available everywhere, even where predictions aren't. Just because some searches are not standard (e.g. dotson817), the vast majority of my searches are with English words.
Either the API for swiping anywhere is locked, or SwiftKey dropped the ball. Seeing as to how long this beta took to drop, I'm guessing the latter.

My problem with this beta is that it appears to be draining a lot of battery. It doesn't help that Flow is full of bugs (you simply cannot write the words "its" or "it's").

I am giving it a try but I still think Swype is better. There is a big thread on the beta over here.
Sometimes I want to type a word and NOT have a space after it - so, I press backspace, then say, type a comma and it "auto corrects" to the wrong word. Even if I keep re-typing it and going back again and again, it keeps auto correcting it away from the word I wanted.
So, if a word is not in the dictionary yet and I want a comma right after it (no space) I don't know how to do that yet

Loving this so far... the initial dictionary downloads were slow this morning, I suspect they were swamped!
I switched back to Swype
They could not get even a third if my swiped words plus the keyboards extra colors look to unnatural to me
It just doesn't flow well together

Trying it now... And.. I think I like it! I'll have to give it a few days and see how it fares! I've been having a few issues with swype since jb (the failure to auto space in browser boxes... Grrr), so this could become my new input-er of choice

It's all personal preference. I, for one, prefer Swype over SwiftKey. I do like SwiftKeys auto-correct and prediction more, but I've just gotten so use to Swype that I can type a message faster even with all that stuff SwiftKey has on Swype. Flow has just begun beta.. maybe when they get all bugs worked out I'll be able to make the switch.

Yeah, it's all about personal preference. I've never liked swype and the keyboard app that comes with the phone. I've always used SwiftKey and loved it. I might just have to try the flow version of Swiftkey.
I believe that it uses the SwiftKey dictionary that was learned with the regular app.. Because it is predicting everything like normal but just with flow

Yes, it's all personal preference, but when it comes to text prediction, SwiftKey wins by a country mile.

Well ive been using this I have to say swype pisses me off with one thing only which is when you are choosing numbers there is no period at the bottom but a comma. It's annoying because I have to go back and forth between numbers and go back to put the periods. And of course the auto prediction on this thing is amazing.

I'm absolutely loving flow. To me, it's the same SwiftKey that I have always loved, but with swype added. I really like how it shows you what the outcome of your swype is going to be without having to release and see what you're result is going to be.
