OK,one problem. I cant seem to keep this thing in charge mode for very long. Not sure if mine is defective, or they are all like this.
I just got the Power Bank 2200mAh battery pack/case off ebay. Here is a review of this case:
First impressions are that it is too slippery. I was hoping it was a little more grippy, but it's not.
I like the way the top slides up to allow the phone to be placed in then slid down, ensuring there is no pressure put on the phone port.
Fit and finish are pretty good in my opinion. Phone looks nice in it.
Protection is good on the bottom and sides/corners but almost no protection from falling on the face.
I don't think it is too bulky, since I think the phone is too small anyways!
I put the cover on in the morning and left it on all day at work. Battery temp runs around 85 degrees normally. the highest I saw was 111 degrees. I just dug this widget up that displays battery temp, so I have not measured actual temps of the battery before (without the case) but I can say it gets really hot. I really think that it runs the same temp with or without the case.
I ran the battery down to 10% and turned on the battery. First thing I noticed was that the case would begin charging, but shut off often. I dont know if there was a particular reason for it shutting off like a notification or something, but it is frustrating. Despite that I was able to charge the battery only up to 40% from the case. Part of the problem is that it has a button instead of a switch to actuate the case.
So far I like it for its intended purpose which is extending the operational capability of the phone at work. Is it perfect: no.
I can honestly say that ive been looking forward to your review all day haha! So bottom lie do you feel as if it was worth the purchase? I mean personally my phone last through out the entire day but I guess something that would give it a little boost time to time would be nice.
I think it will fit my needs fine, which are a little extra power without having to plug it in. Honestly I haven't figured out if I am going to keep it on, or just have it at the ready for when I need it.
I keep the phone in my breast pocket at work, so I like to have minimal weight and size for that reason, but I can slip this on when my battery is low. Or if I am not at work, I can just leave it on the whole time and switch over when needed.
So basically I think it was a good purchase, as long as I can figure out why it wont stay charging the battery. Dont understand that. It still has plenty of power, so I dont know why it is kicking off. Part of the problem is that it is button operated and the button might be getting pressed and shutting it off. I think a switch would be better.
Maybe you should keep searching for one with a switch instead of this mechanism.
OH, and the piece that is supposed to be a leg is basically useless...
Added so info to the first post. Basically I cant keep this thing in charge mode for long. Dont know whats going on.
Ill be using mine only when needed for sure but it does the jobb

I got the receiver door a few days ago and I absolutely love this product! It was kind of a pain in the ass to get on, but now that I have it situated there are no issues at all with it.
I wish i could use one of these things, but i do a lot of plugging in and out and it doesn't look like i could shave off the inside to support the extended battery.
I got one, and it is going back. It does fit with the extended battery, but I can't find a case to fit it. My main complaint is that I leave it on my nightstand to charge while I sleep, but once it hits 100% it stops charging. So when I wake up my battery has already began to drain since it stopped charging in the middle of the night. I don't like waking up to a battery that say 80-90.

makes sense. i would not want it then either. i was looking to get one but i need a case to fit it too.
mine just does not want to charge my phone. the indicator lights signify that a connection has been made but the dx does not show that it is charging. I was reading on another thread about this and they said it had to do with the connectors gettin worn out, but ive only used mine twice so hopefully they will send me a new one. I dont suggest getting one right now, they are new and still faulty.

I've had to return 3 of them. I originally bought for my wife so she could just place it on the mat and charge her X and we've had nothing but issues with them. They're just to temperamental from even the most basic use.
I'd stay away and put the money on a docking station.

happened to me too it powermat really sux dont buy it
I love this thing, but a lot of people damage the back door when they first install it.
It's easy to fix though, on the back side of the chargeback where the flex connection go's in you see 4 little pins if you take a small screw ; driver like the eye glass kind and press them down it will fix the connection and the phone will get charged.
man i really love the idea of a powermat but glad that you all pointed out that the idea is there just not the execution...thanks all for the great heads up on staying away from them

3 bad ones in a row pretty much sum up the issue for me Was thinking about it.. not anymore lol
I have a HTC Hero, and noticed recently the cover seems to be almost popping off a little bit by the volume rocker, I thought I maybe broke a clip taking it off/putting it on a lot (I tend to do it a lot while I'm bored lol)
I noticed today however when I push it on, it comes back off. I took the cover off, and the battery seems to be almost popping out. I push it in, and it pops out a bit more. I held it in front of me and each side isn't straight, one is raised maybe a millimetre in the middle
Is this still safe to use, and is it covered by a warranty?
I would not use it. Batteries are actually fairly dangerous because of the lithium parts. They can, in rare cases, catch fire. I don't know why a battery would bulge out, but I can't imagine it being any good.
I'd try to look for warranty. If you don't have warranty (I'm not sure if it's covered) you can buy a new one from DealExtreme for a mere 5 USD, shipped free. But those batteries are fairly low quality, so using them is not actually recommended.
It might be an idea to buy a new one off eBay, or email htc about your problem.
Nothing to worry about the battery is overused/overcharged that is it won't funvction properly any more and it might cause damage to your phone...best suggetsion is to buy another battery
I had this issue with my HTC Glacier. I was swapping ROMs on my phone without having a fully charged battery and I believed that messed with the phone's abilty to detect the charge level. I ended up overcharging the battery without realizing it and it developed a bulge. I had to get a new battery because the phone would eventually crash even with a full charge and then reboot showing 0% battery.
Anyone replace their battery yet? I bought my note 10 refurbed and never felt it had the power it should. Will last 3ish hours with light gaming and web surf. I've seen some replacements on amazon, just wanted to get some input.

I bought one from zwxj on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. 20 minute install. Very easy. There a a few youtube videos you can search for that show the entire process.
I'm getting about 8 hours or more of screen on time now.

I bought one from new power 99, was getting 10% loss for every hour for the first few months but then it started to go alot faster. They have a 1 year garantee on there batteries so i just wrote them 2 days ago and explained what was happening and they sent me a replacement the day they got my email. It was a little more expensive but definitely worth it. They also told me to just keep the first battery. So i would definitely recommend them . They didn't argue or tell me I'm doing something wrong when I sent the email , they just shipped a new battery out. It comes with all the tools to take tablet apart and was very easy to do.
So my battery is fine except when playing games. It's drops insanely fast. I have a refurbished model and am thinking a new battery should do it. Anyone have that issue and a new battery take care of it?

My battery life is getting much worse, and the tablet is now 2 years old. Looks like time for a new battery here too...
Don't know if I need one yet. I know I leave it on the charger quite often and it seems to drain much faster under load than my refurbished nexus 7 2013, but standby time is much, much longer than my nexus 7. Disassembly also seems like a pain. I don't like that you have to pry on the screen

Like the rest of you, I'm experiencing severe, and rapid drain from my battery. I just bought a brand new OEM battery for my tablet. Hasn't come yet, and I will let you know about any difficulties. YouTube videos make it look like a fairly easy job, and it doesn't look like there's much pressure on the screen while you do it. By the way, just for giggles I decided to check how difficult it would be to access the battery. Take it from me-DO NOT TRY TO PRY THE SCREEN LOOSE! You might lose the power and volume switch caps. Only remove the screen if you need to replace it.
Rather, pull the S Pen from it's socket, and gently pry the back cover loose. From there, follow the directions on YouTube carefully. When you are done, gently reseat the rear cover, and make sure that it's properly seated. You'd never believe that piece of chrome coloured plastic was so important. Sheer Genius!

Get the one used in the most wellknown tutorial vid, from Newpower99. I wonder whether they ship overseas.
Any way to check to see how much power or life your battery has left? Just bought a used one and seems normal.

i got it from zwxj on Amazon. it was cheap. it was actually very easy to install. there was a small issue though. the cord that connects the battery is a little to long. and the plastic piece at the top isnt exactly correct. i was able to get it in though with minimal effort. they battery lasts forever. the only issue i have and it is a pita is it will randomly shut off when playing a game. doesnt happen all the time and there is no rhyme or reason to when it happens. i need to plug it into the wall and then it will restart with the same battery it shut off from. i could read things all day down to zero and it would never happen. wither way for the 15 bucks or so i spent on the battery it makes the tablet usable again and i love it.

I've bought one from AliExpress with the same issue in the little plastic piece on top so I guess it's from the same manufacturer. Mine constantly turns off. Even updating apps. It seems to be an issue with these batteries.
Also, I feel like it doesn't show the correct percentage. Is there something I should do after replacing the battery for it to show the correct percentage?
One last question and this goes to everyone. Using Ampere, could you please check and tell me whats the average drain in mA?

I use Battery Monitor Widget, included in the 3C Android Toolkit, and samplin battery data in sync with Android to save power. So Standby values should be too high to be representative, 0,05 to 0,2A. Idling with screen on, around 0,6A. Max Load should be over 2A or ten watts. These values should be calculated from the battery voltage instead of the Usb voltage. Attached to a power supply, the Note never seems to drain the battery, so there must be a ten watt power limit, it will simply no longer charge under full load.
Using improper plugs doesn't sound like a good idea, the contacts could get so hot, that the plastic of the plug und socket or the back cover could melt and the contacts could de-solder themselves from the main pcb.
Just ordered a OEM Samsung battery today. Will post when I getvand get it installed. Battery is totally flat on my device.

I had the exact same thing happening with mine after replacing the battery. Check your CPU clocking. If you're on a CM ROM it's probably overclocked & set to 1900MHz. If you set the governor to 1300MHz (which is the factory clocking speed, I think) it should quit shutting down like that. That's what I did and I haven't had it happen even once since. I think the CPU is just overclocked a bit much for the aftermarket battery to handle. Your tablet will run a bit cooler this way too.

I just replaced my battery as the tablet had become unusable. I found the same issue. Only happened once, I also found that I could only charge the device while off, I reseated the charging flex which seemed to correct the unable to charge while on. Now that I think about it, I was on a TW 4.4 rom rooted when it happened, I'll report back with findings.
I contacted Samsung support and they referred me to a distributor of official OEM Samsung parts. Ordered a battery last week. Unfortunately, delivery is in the 2 to 3 week timeframe, as it's coming from overseas. I will let you all know how replacement of it goes.

If you want or need directions for replacing the battery, when I did mine about a month ago I posted a step by step guide for what to do along with pictures (just ignore the part about removing the charging port if your only doing the battery). First, some context since I find that product reviews, especially mobile products generally miss the mark on framing the thoughts they're about to lay out for you.
I spend an unhealthy amount of time on my phone, not gaming, or YouTube so much but the actual phone. My job requires that I take calls that can last well over an hour, a few times a day. Additionally I travel for work, so this means I regularly start my day at 5:00 and end after 1:00. These days are especially brutal on power consumption. Emails, phone calls, podcasts, web -- I'll be down to 50% before my first flight takes off at 8AM.
A normal day in the office, I bump charge my Pixel 3 generally twice, when I travel, I'm always nervous that I won't have an outlet and/or a window of time to top up.
Naturally I travel with a few chargers and at least one battery pack (generally two). This has gotten me by, but it is undoubtedly a compromise.
The notion of a battery case that I can throw in my bag and slip on as a safety net when I'm heading out of the office, or my hotel for dinner/drinks is immensely appealing.
Enter the Zero Lemon Pixel 3 Battery Charging Case
The first thing you'll notice when you look at this case is the odd reflective matrix pattern on the back. Put bluntly, I hate it. I've spoken to their team and understand they may address it/offer an option -- and I hope they do. A flat, matte black would be such an improvement. I don't want to draw attention to my phone case. It is a utility, not a statement. Sure, this is personal preference but its a strong preference.
Moving on, the case is a single piece, made of flexible TPU material and it feels nice in the hand. Despite the obvious bulk it adds, it remains pocketable. It is thinner, lighter, and much less rigid than other battery cases I've used, all of which were two-piece.
The male USB-C port inside slips into the phone easily, and the flexible material pulls over the top of the phone without much force. Worth noting that the power and volume buttons remain clicky and easy to use.
All of that out of the way, lets talk about performance.
In short, it does exactly what I need it to do. A press of the button on the back lights up the charge indicator LEDs and starts to push power to the phone. The Pixel reports a rapid charge, though I find that to be inaccurate. With the phone down to 1% charging to 97% (which was the best I have gotten from the case) takes roughly 2.5 hours, assuming normal use continues over that period of time.
In other words, when you charge your phone you may plug it in and leave it -- the idea here is that I don't have to be without the phone while I wait for it to charge. I'm sure it would refill faster if I were to put the thing down... but that isn't the point.
The case allows power pass-through, so if you leave it on and connect a charger, it will charge both the case and phone. I will say that I woke up once with the case on, connected to a charger over night with the case battery full but my phone at 83% -- it remains unclear what happened there.
Sadly the case does not allow data transfer, but this is only a seldom and minor inconvenience.
Who should buy this? Anyone who finds themselves worried about finding the opportunity to charge your phone and would like a convenient way to refill without having to leave the phone tethered to the wall, or have a loose battery and cable hanging from, or awkwardly crammed into your pocket.
I suspect that women who carry a bag with them may have an easier time with portable battery packs and the cable required to use them but when pockets are all you have to work with, Zerolemon's solution is for you.
I will note that they supplied me with a unit to test, but at forty bucks or less, the peace of mind this thing offers is more than worth it.
In conclusion, this case will be an essential part of my travel bag... until they make one with a more professional design that is. ;]
I'll be taking it to Barcelona in a couple months for Mobile World Congress, a week that is absolute HELL on phone batteries. I plan to follow up afterward with how it impacts my experience there.

Okay, hello XDA Forums peoples! Ive been lurking here for like a decade. I feel bad for bothering you nice people, but now I'm at my wits end with this phone.
Okay, so, long story short:
Z Fold 3, let it run the One U.I. 4 update, bricked the whole phone, wouldnt come back on. This happens a week away from being out of warranty. So i get samsung to agree to let Asurion/uBreakiFix repair it (I almost always fix my own electronics, I hate Asurion, I've had problems dealing with them before, but its free so whatever). Well they get it working, i asked what they did and they were basically like 'uhhh idk'. I assume it was just an 'unplug the battery and plug it back in' kind of thing.
Anyways fast forward to a couple months ago. Im walking along the creek, i always keep my phone in my backpack for safety. Zipper on my backpack comes open some, phone falls out and directly into the water for about 3-5 seconds. Goes black within 15 minutes. Alright, so it seems like maybe the boys who worked on this didnt seal it back properly. Whatever.
I let it dry for about 4 or 5 days. Comes back on, everything works except the front screen's digitizer(which is cool for me, because the inside screen still works fine) and its reporting too cold to charge, so now once the battery runs out i have a new foldable brick! Yay! I check the battery temperature thats reported in settings and its completely fine. I hit it with a hair dryer for like 5 minutes to try and trip the thermometer, and nothing happens.
I tried some cheap shots in the dark, i replace the USB charging board, i replace the wireless charging coil, both of which have thermistors on other older samsung phones, so i figured it was a decent guess. Still too cold to charge.
So I find a schematic, or not exactly a schematic, but like a boardview, i guess. So at least i know where the thermistors are to check them. Theres about 10 thermistors on the main and sub boards. 5 of which are covered by metal shielding which i am just terrified of trying to remove, mainly because i havent done it before. So i check the other half.
The thermistors used in these phones are like inverse, so they have less resistance for higher temps and more resistance for lower temps. If one of them is dead, it will have like "maximum resistance", right? Which would report the coldest possible temperature, right? So that all makes sense, to me at least.
The 5 i can get to with my meter to check, they seem to work completely fine. From what research ive done they seem to be like 100k resistors when measured at ~70 degrees f, and i can watch the resistance go up and down when its cooled or heated past that temperature. Okay, perfect. That all checks out.
Because the other ones are under some metal shielding, i assume theyre most likely fine because any water would have a harder time getting in there. So i skip to the most expensive option so far: i buy two replacement batteries. The schematics do not include the battery, so i dont know where the thermistors are on my current batteries to check them, if that was the problem.
Well, batteries came yesterday, i pop them in, still too cold to charge. I've already ran the phone dead checking it, so i cant do any further diagnostics with the phone on. And now the most i get is a Yield sign with a thermometer in it when i plug it in.
Okay, so... Idk?? This problem is starting to get over my head. What do y'all think? It seems like my options are becoming more limited and expensive.
I can try and put a big blob of solder on the top of the shielding and pull it off to check the remaining thermistors, which seems to be how people remove those things. I also have have hot air at my disposal, which is always risky with tiny things because too high airspeed might blow components away on the board and then i'll probably cry.
It could just be a connector somewhere on some flex cable? Maybe? I mean like maybe what if one of them is for reporting temperature, and water corrosion is stopping it from sending a signal through???
Im fine with doing whatever, but i just want a charged battery first so i can recover my data before i do anything that drastic. I mean, back in the day they had 4 big pads on a removable battery. You could buy a universal samsung battery charger or rig a USB cable to charge it, but I have literally no idea what to do here. Does anyone know of some specialized battery charger that will connect to these flex cables?? That would be a gigantic help right now. Or if i knew where to get a Z Fold 3 just to pop it open and charge my battery with? Or maybe just sit there for 2 hours holding two wires to the positive and negative pins?!??!?? I dont know. Someone throw ideas at me, please!
Might be worth buying a bench power supply and either injecting voltage through the phone or connecting it to the cells to trickle charge them back up? Im not an expert it these just throwing ideas
