Anyone using Buff screen protector? - Galaxy S III Accessories

Just saw these online. Was wondering anyone has used or is using one of these.
Any reviews?
Thanks!

They look pretty sweet.....
Just wondering how it looks on a screen and is it too thick or ruin the view of the screen.....
Think I am going to order one, but wanted to see if anyone else already had one.

I wonder if it has a glass feel or a sticky rubber feel. Someone who has it please do tell

They are a Korean company, so Ive only got a link for a Korean shopping website.....

That being said, I would be willing to help some people out if they wanted to order.
Just found North American website
http://www.buffarmor.com/

The shock absorb demonstration video had me in tears, god that is awesome and hilarious at the same time LOL

Wish I could see one on the galaxy s3.

Seems interesting. Is this whole body protection or just the screen? 30 bucks for just the screen seems a bit much. For that price I'd be more likely to get a glass screen protector.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

It is only for the screen.
It is about 20 bucks here, and I live in Korea so I am getting free shipping
I ordered one yesterday, so should get here on Monday. Ill post some picks. No videos though, I could never even think about doing that to my phone!

Well, finally got er on.
Pros
-protects the screen very well
-covers most of the screen, leaving only the speak and above, and the camera hole not covered. (and the button I suppose).
-feels smooth
Cons
-gets marked up very easily (just using the applicator left marks on it.....the plastic thingy)
-feels kind of rubbery to the touch (although it is smooth).
-still has a bit of a rainbow effect......a bunch of little rainbow pixels that I have been trying to get rid of.
I don't know what I want to do....there are marks on the screen already, but this thing really protects and covers the whole screen.
Just looking at it again, and it seems to be peeling up the sides like all the other ones.
Im going to leave it until morning and see what I wake up to.....

Hmm... are you using a case as well? Maybe I should have waited before I ordered mine

Any further information on those Buff covers? They look tempting imho... but testers should report .P

Sorry, to update....
It is a very sweet protector!
The sides settled down after a day or two and no problems at all.
Screen is clear and finger prints are not a problem.
Recommended for anyone that wants some extra protection.
One small problem....if you have a case that comes up and over the edges of the screen, you may have some problems. My gel case would cause the sides to peel up, do I'm using a slim case now

Got a different case because my diztronic was not having this protector at all.. works great.
Problem with mine is, I didn't align perfectly, so sides are a little off. But I spent too damn long applying it and had many dust problems, so I said screw it.(Also botched my first one -_-)

How is the screen clarity compared to not having the screen protector? I've tried the Zagg stuff and although nice protection, orange peel look and feel of plastic really got to me after a while.

I find it's somewhat similar to a ZAGG, not as orangy, but definitely not as smooth as naked either. You notice it the first time, but I just glide now that I got used to it. This obviously isn't the answer you were looking for, but it's the best I could do @[email protected]

Actually it does help, looking closely at your pictures, I can see where the buff protector starts comparing it to the white of the phone, there is a slight tint, so your right it is not as orange but still there. But I might sacrifice the smoothness since the buff protection from shocks is amazing, and from the number of cracked screens I have been hearing about with this phone, I think I may need it.

Glad I could help bro, I didn't apply the screen protector too well also. It seems to be more on the right side of the phone, but yeah.. I just got too tired man. I iced my first one, and the second one took equally as long and painful due to dust cleaning. Sometimes I just can't win! I'm happy with it though. Now I know my phone can take a brick at it, kinda.

Warning about ATT's new screen protector for captivate...it SUCKS!!

So when I bought my captivate I bought the ATT screen protector and it was very nice.
If I were to leave a mark due to hitting with my nail on the screen, the mark will slowly disappear back to normal. It was also full size all the way to the home button etc.
After many months I decided to replace it as it was coming off on the sides but the quality was still great.
Well, first red flag was that the new version is no longer full size. Only covers to the lower part of the actual display area but I was assured that it was the same material...
Yeah, same material my A$$! That thing sucks...it became a mess of horrible screen patterns like I was looking at some Nasa Mars photos or something.
I took it back and the bastards wanted to charge me $5 bucks to replace it again!
I express my deepest feeling in some not very forum appropiate wording and left.
Bought an invisi shield even though opinions are mixed about it and so far I love it.
Screen looks perfect with non of the horrible patterns I was getting with the ATT ****.
Just a warning.
Regards
Yeah, I'm using a invisishield
Had one since day one of phone purchase. No complaints.
Love my otterbox too
that sucks I was thinking of getting one, thanks for the heads up.

If you can find the original one (full lenght) you should be fine but if it is the small one run away from it. I couldnt take that more than a week.
The invisi-sheild is pretty good I had one and loved it, but I just replaced it with the ATT screen shield last week and mine comes all the way down and covers my buttons and is actually a pretty decent protector. Maybe they were out of stock and gave you one that 'works' for your phone. The rep did bring me the wrong one initially....
That's not good. I HATED my InisiSheild. The ATT screen protector was the only screen protector I've been able to stand.
Good thing I have two spares...

Agree on the Zagg. It was absolutely terrible, but it was free, so I can't really complain. Anyway, I gave up on screen protectors altogether.
Screen protector? What's that? Lol. Seriously, I've never used one and I've dropped my phone face down on both gravel and pavement. My screen still looks brand new. I think screen protectors on these phones are just a waste of money, and I hate the idea of having another layer to distort the image.

I ran without a screen protector... Right up until I picked up gash in the upper right corner of my screen.
All it takes is one grain of sand.
The old AT&T screen protectors are the best compromise I've found between the crystal clarity of running naked, and having at least some protection.

This.
I don't know how you people keep saying after months of screen protectorless use, your phone looks brand new.
I went protectorless for a couple months, and after that short a period of time I picked up a few noticeable scratches. They aren't deep enough to be seen in use, but they are there.
I'll keep my screen protectors. Can't really tell the difference anyway.
You agree with a post that is stating the opposite of what you are saying? That is cool LOL
If you want the original At&t protectors, search for the brand Real Look. One of my packs from At&t had the Real Look branding on the stuff inside the pack. I also suggested Real Look to a buddy with an iPhone 4, and when he got his, it's the same great material.
I will never use another brand of screen protector as long as Real Look makes one for my phone.

I don't know if I just got a bad batch, but the ones I got from AT&T a few months ago suck. Really rainbow...y and they have the annoying hole for the proximity and light sensor.
Had my captivate since July of last year, 3 days before release. Never used a screen protector and when I wipe it off it looks like I just peeled the DONT TXT AND DRIVE thingy off. Guess I'm just lucky.

These are the Real Look screen protectors. I find that the rainbow effect disappears when the screen is on, so that is really not an issue. Also, I don't really think the cutout for the proximity sensor is that bad, it's a really small area that is barely noticeable, and I'm sure probably is there for a reason.
To me, the Real Look screen protectors have an unbeatable finish for keeping clean, smooth, and even scratch free. If you like the natural feel of gorilla glass, give them a shot, because these really do feel like the gorilla glass when they are clean. IMHO, they have the best scratch resistance of any crystal screen protector that I have ever used on any device. In the past I used matte screen protectors because I always hated scratches in glossy ones, but these have solved that problem.
I'm not trying to flame, I just think it's a bit unfair to be that nitpicky about a great product. Did you notice any of the positive qualities of these?
I dont know what brand it is but i use the screen protector that came with my otterbox. didnt use on on my first captivate, could definitely see some marks on screen, no problems with one in place.
I have also used Realook brand protectors. I thought they worked really well. The only reason you could tell I was using one was the horrible job I did installing it. They say they are washable and reusable, but after trading in my phone for a warranty issue I decided not to even try to reuse it. I just ordered a new one. $10 for 2 of em. I almost wasn't going to use one and I read a post from someone who says that he can see a bunch of microscopic scratches on the glass from keeping it in his pocket. The way I see it, I would rather cover it and not take any chances.
Go to best buy they have a military grade polyurethane they wrap around your phone it is the best screen protector phone protector ever

I have a Skinomi brand protector on my captivate and it seems much better than the many others I have seen. Been on the phone since I got it (around release) and it doesn't have a single bubble or imperfection. Awesome stuff!

A.R.M Screen Protector SHORT review

Hey guys,
previously I saw people post a thread about the A.R.M screen protectors.
I went to their site at armstation.com to see if I could purchase one and it seemed that they havent really started their internet sales yet.
So I emailed them asking about it, and they said to leave them an address and they will ship 2 pieces for me to try out.
AND HERE THEY ARE!!!
arrived today, which is approx 2 weeks after my emails, so kinda slow, but alright.
Now, ONE THING. THE PACKING ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKS SPLENDID!!!
but....when you open it, there really isnt anything, just one little screen protector.
I gotta hand it to them though, the packiging must have been worth more than the screen protector it self.
Usage:
I haven't really gotten to put these on yet cause I just recently sent my phone in for repairs. But from the way they feel, compared to the XO Skins which I have handy. They simply do not match the craftsmanship of the XOs.
ALSO, compared to other crystal screen protectors, this one, had only one layer to take off, which really troubles me, but I guess this is one way to lower the budget.
(EDDITTTTT: There is a second layer to take off. But according to dothedyu (Thanks), you have to take it off with tape @@)
Anyways, if this thing sells for less than $5 bucks, I'd say it's worth it, but if it goes beyond 10, ehhhhhh....
This is really a brief review as I really couldnt test anything else out. Anyone who ordered these and have put them on feel free to share ur opinions.
Dont know whether they still offer samples, but you can always try.
Nough said, this really just widens our selection of screen protectors, but really, i ll stick to my XO.

Actually, there's a second layer to take off that doesn't have a tab so after you take off the first layer and put it on the phone. It'll still look hazy. So use a small piece of tape on the corner and peel back and the top layer will come off revealing a clear, thin skin. It actually looks really nice!
what I want to know is how resistant to smudges and oil is it??

Has terrible rainbow effect and is way too thin. I can't really complain for free, but I'd be pretty bummed if I had paid a decent amount of money for them. The generic crystal protectors from VZW are better quality IMO. Only real advantage to these is the edge to edge coverage.

UPDATE: SGP GLAS.t Screen Protector (Video)

For those asking where i brought this, it was purchased off eBay from a Canadian SGP Authorized reseller "rand-a1thor" for $43.99USD.
***ATTENTION***
After the installation the bubbles seen at the end of the video we're indeed removed and the screen looks beautiful.
I also use the Casemate "Barely There" case with this Spigen GLAS.t and it still fits perfectly like a glove. Surprisingly the package did NOT come with any of the home button "stickers" like the iPhone does but to be quite honest the home button still feels responsive and doesn't have that sunk-in feeling.
I highly recommend this GLAS.t protector as it gives the Galaxy Note that great stock screen feeling.

I have this and I love it. It's so much better than the Note's screen, which I personally think is awful. That thing is a fingerprint magnet and difficult to clean! I haven't had any problems with screen response with it at all...even when charging. It's just like the actual screen except it feels even better. Fingerprints still happen of course but not nearly as bad and they wipe away easily.
My only gripe, and it's a small one, is that the tiny sliver right above the ear piece (about 1mm x 3/4 in) won't adhere. It's not noticeable unless you're looking for it but it still kinda bugs me a little bit. Other than that, this thing is amazing. Can't recommend it highly enough. I also love that unlike screen protectors, this won't have to be replaced...like, ever. This is definitely something I'd buy again when I eventually switch phones.

Yeah, it looked pretty bad before I took off the protection. I somehow even got dust under the top sheet and thought it was under the glass and wanted to scream. But once that top sheet is off it looks pristine and perfect.
Also, be warned that the glass will have a slightly sticky texture from whatever they used to make that top sheet stick. I was disappointed at first because I noticed a slight drag when sliding my finger across the screen. Just be sure to wipe it down really good to get rid of that residue and then it's great.
Thanks for the info. Mine comes in tomorrow. $34.99 from Amazon with free two day shipping.
The Zagg which I have on my phone now sucks. The stylus doesnt work very well. It catches on the rubbery surface.

I haven't tested it with knives but I did mistakenly put my phone in my pocket with some loose change and it didn't put any mark or scratch on the screen. Seems to be extremely durable. No effect whatsoever on the s-pen. Same as using the stock screen!
Any problems with sensitivity of the screen during charging? Especially the menu and back buttons? I was using the GLAS for my S2 previously and had to remove it because of this.

TriboScreen screen protector

After watching that video I had to support the company that made it cause it's a pretty clever system they've come up with. I don't even care for dry install protectors but I had to try it. The fact that not only do you get 2 screen protectors with each order, you get the mold or jig specific to your device which ensures a properly installed protector every time.
I ordered mine off eBay from a seller named icapsale-istt. The product ships from S.Korea...I bought mine on the 9th, late in the evening, it arrived today. Pretty damn fast shipping if you ask me, especially since they estimated it wouldn't get to me until between 6.26.12 - 7.10.12. Obviously I can't do a product review since I don't have my device yet but rest assured I will once I get it installed.
**Update 6.30.12**
Alright fellas, got it on...installation was as straight forward as the video shows except you do have to get some bubbles out. So before you take off the top layer make sure you use the squeegee to get them all out. Unfortunately I got a spec of dust right smack dab in the middle of my screen but it's not noticeable unless the screen is off so for now it stays. First thing I noticed was the rainbow effect on the protector when the screen is off...when it's on I don't see any abnormalities. The screen feels the same as if it were naked. It doesn't cover the whole screen for obvious reasons (beveled edge around the screen) but during normal useage you don't even realize it. No banding, no rainbow effect, very clear, doesn't seem to effect the display negatively at all. Touch sensitivity is no different than without the protector on. The only thing about this is the price, it's pricey. That being said, it's not head and shoulders better than any other dry install protector i've ever used so hard to justify the price unless you're a noob and that concerned with installing one that the included jig will make you rest that much better...or if you're like me and just wanted to support the company who came out with such a setup for their ingenuity.
Overall, it's a nice protector that will ensure proper placement everytime...if only it could prevent dust as well But the price will turn most off, especially for this type of protector considering most of this type are about a quarter of the price or less. There is no rubbery feel on the display and it looks just as beautiful as it did when it was naked. I give this product an 8/10 only because of the price, would have been a 9 otherwise.
If I was not getting a otterbox defender I would get this. I hate putting screen protectors on wrong and this makes it so you can't.
yeah let us know how well they work. I am interested in seeing some close up shots of it installed as well.
I just purchased one as well!
I'm currently in S.korea and the SS3 isn't even out here yet, I wonder if I can get these here.
It's probably a lot cheaper here (just look at the prices of SGP in Korea compared to the rest of the world).
And does the screen protector cover the whole glass area?

How did it go?
Just got this in yesterday. Took off my XtremeGuard, and these screen protectors are pretty crystal clear and nice.
One problem is their cut. Unless if you have a case, they do not cover the whole phone but for good reason. The phone is a bit curved near the ends so if the hard plastic stretched all the way out it would float and not stick at all.
These are also reusable. To reinstall or reapply I suggest getting a lint remover, peeling off one of the tapes and just sticking your screen protector on it. This way it will remove any dust and you can reapply it.
It also feels great, if you have sweaty or oily hands, this screen protector will accommodate you. Application was easy, I just had a difficult time due to my dogs shedding in the summer heat... they are leaving a lot of hair around.
Summary: I would recommend it. Shipping takes forever though, like 2 to 3 weeks.
I can't find them on ebay. Can you guys post a link?

Just got this in yesterday. Took off my XtremeGuard, and these screen protectors are pretty crystal clear and nice.

how do the protectors feel on the phone? Does it feel like there's even a protector there? or is it just a smooth feeling?

Thanks given :good: Nah man, it feels good. When I first installed an XtremeGuard, as much as I like that protector, it was noticeably tackier than the naked screen. This protectors feels as if it is the naked screen. As for the rainbow thing, yep, exactly as you just said. but turn the phone on and look for the rainbows or any other display defect and you're gonna be hard pressed.

Well then im sold I was a bit nervous about ordering a protector off of ebay, but this review helps a lot. And as far as the rainbow thing, doesn't bother me if its only when the screen is off (not like there's anything to see when its off) haha

Well glad I can help you out a bit. I feel the same....although I was very worried when I seen the rainbow effect before I turned the screen on. I have 3 XtremeGuards in hand but i'm not putting them on unless this one needs to be replaced for some reason.

Thats a smart decision. Im gonna order the SGP nano protector just in case the tribo doesn't workout for some reason.
only thing im worried about is if the edges will lift up due to the screen being curved

Just ordered an otterbox defender, did i make a mistake?

I recently won a bid on ebay for a note II so naturally i want to protect it the best i can. I am the type of person who can be a bit hard on phones. I drop them, sometimes things can fall on them and so on so i need good protection. I pretty much have an otterbox on everything i own so i figured i would order one for my note II. Im wondering if i made a mistake because the reviews im reading arent very good. Can anyone comment about the case on the note II? Most things im reading is the outside stretches quickly and the plastic screen protector really diminishes the quality of the screen. If this is a bad case, can someone recommend the best solution for protecting the phone AND the screen, even if its two seperate parts.
I have the otterbox for note 2. Hasn't stretched at all. It's a chore to get it off really.
My wife's gs3 otterbox has stretched. But this one is much better.
It's great for falls, but it's not sealed as much as the evo otterbox. Not sure this case would save the note 2 from a fall in the dog water bowl like evo did.

Not any more than the evo or gs3 cases. Any time you put a screen protector on, it's not going to be quite the same.

Not trying to pick on you. But statements like this make me shake my head. Big deal the case scratches. It's better the case than the phone, right? Not that I'm ignorant, and know you don't want some case that's going to look like a cat scratching toy after a month. From what I read, usually the shinny slick cases tend to show more scratches.
As for the screen, I don't think you'll notice much if any deminished screen output from the screen protector if you've been using the Otterbox Defender on previous phones. I don't think it's that likely the screen protector is that much different from other Defenders for other phones.
My guess, I think you're psyching yourself out.
When I had my otterbox, I removed the built in "screen protector" and had a zagg on it. I dont like the built in one as sand and small particles can get inbetween screen and the "protector" and when you use it. Your mashing thos into the screen. I would advise you to remove the screen protector and install your own directly onto the phone. Other than that great case.

With the evo, it was so sealed I didn't want to change screen protectors. With the note 2, that may be an option. But I think that would be the case with any note 2 case

Apparently you are ignorant. I said stretches, as in the rubber stretches quickly causing it not to stay on the phone, no scratches.

I like this idea and think ill do this. Can you recommend a good screen protector that doesn't degrade the quality much?

Well, as lovely of compliment that is, either I don't know know the difference between stretch and scratch, or I wasn't paying close enough attention. Given what I wrote, the safer bet is the later. Thus, my most of drabble was not on point. But I digress....
Back to the topic at hand, As for screen protectors, I suggest checking out this thread, Screen Protector Reviews in the international GN2 subforum. It's 28 pages of this morning. I stopped reading it about a month or so ago. There was another thread, even longer, but it got removed.
Personally, I use the Just Like Glass screen protector. It's a wet application. Covers all viewable screen, but doesn't go to the edge. So cases that go over the edge won't push on it, like TPU cases with lips don't play nice with screen protectors that do go the edge. I'm not sure how the defender sits on the phone off the top of my head, so not sure if the JLG would work well or not. Since you're so rough on phones, it may be. JLG uses similar tech to hurricane glass, and claim it adds 35% shatter resistance; their numbers, not mine. It's stiff, really thin, and it feels very similar to the actual glass. I like it.
It's not perfect. It will get small scratches. I have a couple, but I rarely notice them. There is a rainbow effect that can be seen under halogen lights and the screen off. When the screen is on, you don't see it, at least I never have. It's a side effect from the UV protection the protector has. Some complain that screen protector scratches easily. I don't know how easily, but I have a few, but I don't see them when the display is on. I'm not sure if they came with one or not, but I know JLG owner was looking into getting a dry application model. Plus, unless something has changed, JLG goes give good customer service. Shoot an email to the ower, some guy named Scott, and he'll work with you as much as possible. He knows screen protector isn't for everyone.
It also works very well with the Spen. Others have had issues, from what I read, with Zagg Invisishield. The Spen sticks, unresponsive, to actaully scratching the screen protector. Some have said the Zagg's HD works well. But from what I gathered, for the Spen to work well, you'll want to get the thinner protects, which end up being less scratch resistant.
Here a picture of my GN2 shortly after I put it on:
if you click the picture, you can see a really big picture. But you can see how much of the GN2 it covers. I use a Cruzerlite TPU clear case. I'm still using the same screen protector and case, which has been close to six months.
For me, as long as the flaws are noticeable when the screen is on, it doesn't bother me. It's currently being sold for $13.50, so it's one of the more reasonable priced protectors. It only comes packaged with one protector.
Hopefully that helps.

I appreciate the reply. After doing a ton of searching, I found just about everyone who bought a SGP Ultra Oleophobic seemed to love it so I'm gonna try that. I wanted to get the just like glass but the wet application sort of scared me away. I'll report my findings when I get it and the phone.

Not really free. You have to return the original and pay for shipping. Now Otterbox's warranty is second to none. Just send it pics of damage and they will send you out a replacement completely free of charge. Now when I bought the first black Defender I had a pretty nice gap between the built in screen protector and the phone's screen. It really was annoying especially playing games or texting. I ended up giving that one to my wife and buying the grey/white one off Amazon for $35. This one has no gap and fits like its supposed to. It's been a few months and I've had no problem with dust in screen or silicone stretching. This one seems to be built correctly. Not so much for the Defender for my EvoLTE. Been a year and I'm on my 5th one.

Otterbox Warranty: they didn't even request a picture when my evo case broke. Just took down the info and sent me a new one and told me to discard the old one.
I was amazed. Shows how much they stand behind their product.

I popped out the screen protector part as dust kept getting in the stupid hole they cut in it. My phone stays in my pocket with nothing else so no scratches on the screen. If I'm going to throw my phone in my wife's bag when traveling or something like that I bring the clip to protect it. Worked for me so far..
I'm a contractor and I've put my otter box through hell, I remove it every night and have for six months and it hasn't stretched a bit. My phone is still cherry because of this case, I've dropped it 10 feet gotten concrete on it and it's coated in crap every day. Once you get used to all the iPhone kids making fun of the size it's awesome!
