Im looking for a stock vodafone branded rom for the desire z, ive checked all the threads here and on shipped roms as well as a google search or ten but i still cant seem to find it anywhere, id be very grateful if someone could provide me with a link or upload
Did Vodafone brand this phone? I'm pretty sure they didn't, I've never seen a branded Desire Z, only the "white box" versions.

They did, when I got mine it was Vodafone branded, when I got it repaired through HTC, it came back with a Vodafone RUU. I'm not even on Vodafone though

I have a Desire. But I think that a goldcard is only needed for branded Desires, not unbranded ones like you get in India.
Mine is branded, I can only install Asia_India ROMs on it.
Is it branded by DoCoMo? Or did you buy it from a normal retail store?
I bought it from a normal retail store.
Although it doesn't matter, I sent it back for replacement, should be getting one by Thursday.
Hi guys. I just got a new HTC Desire that was supposed to be unbranded. There is no brand splash screen when I turn it on, but there are some O2 configurations on the phone (like o2 mail, and o2 scene).
I found out that the software version (1.20.207.3) is actually a o2 branded version. I also find out that I got a SLCD Desire, if that matters
The problem is that I didn't get any Froyo update on System Software Updates. Do you have any ideia why? And is it positive that my phone is branded even without the splash screen?

I think o2 pulled their ota again because some desire became bricked. If you want there are links to manually download the update.

so im planning to sell my htc desire and buy a nexus s instead.
im living in germany and i guess i would have to order the nexus s from an american shop. would there be any problem with the network? or is that all good?
another question:
im selling the htc desire on ebay. is it simlocked? or netlocked?
can i just sell it after flashing an original ruu?

You open the .exe installsheild on your PC and plug the phone in and run the wizard, and if you buy a US nexus s and try to used it on Vodafone or even T-Mobile EU or Orange or O2 or any other EU network it WILL ONLY GET EDGE!, but calls WILL WORK So beware of that, also, you don't need to flash the RUU, infact, some people pay MORE for a rooted phone, so they don't have to do it them self.

one more question why is there only edge with the nexus s in germany?
If you get the GSM Nexus S from the UK then it should work fine. If you get it from the US then it won't as they use different bands than Europe

on my T-Mobile branded Desire HD AND on my GFs T-Mobile branded Sensation we can only see the Dashboard when logging in to htcsense.com.
On the unbranded Desire Z of my colleague i see way more and could edit the phonbook, see the sms and so on.
HTC sais that there is no differrence in htcsense.com between branded and unbranded phones but i don't think so.
Is it right that htcsense.com is only complete when you own a unbranded phone?

HTCSense.com is broken since January, and the lazy tech crew at HTC seems to be unable to fix it. The behavior you are experiencing is not normal, but it is not rare either

I hate branding on my handsets ,got my desire HD on day of release in the UK via a t mobile contract and it had no branding and stock Rom not a sign of t mobile on it.Yet some of the vids of the pre release one x models already have att branding.Does anyone know if UK handsets with come with carrier branding

Never seen branding on a UK handset before (carrier branding)
I remember Orange putting their branding on the Desire (I also think they had a custom black colour but I'm not sure about that) but aside from that I don't remember anybody else doing it.

If this bothers you - either buy in store & see with your own eyes, or purchase a sim free model.

My HTC Desire had Orange branding on it, but my HTC Desire HD didn't, i sure hope my One X doesn't have any orange branding,
My Desire HD has branding of the Orange logo on the sim/sd card cover.
