Terrible Data Speeds - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone else getting speeds like these?
Or anyone been able to fix this problem?
Attached are my APN settings. I've read the whole APN thread but got no definite answers. I also called AT&T and they said one of my towers might be down. I doubt that every tower on my commute for 60 miles is down though.

Make sure they have you on the 4g smartphone plan and then Google Atrix 4g APN settings and input those. If everything is set up right you will get better speeds.

Results after new APN. Also called AT&T and they confirmed I am on the 4G plan.
Also after new APN I can't send or receive MMS.

You should have 4 apns if you used the Atrix 4g apns. One for HSDPA one for tether one for MMS and one for the regular WAP.Cingular. I use them and I get a constant 5 meg down and 1 up.

Do I need to do anything specific after inputting the settings? I find it weird that I have data but even slower now and no MMS.

Select the radio button for HSDPA and then reboot your phone.

3G 4G LTE

Does anyone know how I can change the network? Most of the jelly bean roms don't have 4G I'm on 3G with the dragon rom. Anyway where would I go to change this? In the build prop? I know some say change modem but that has nothing to do with it. Any help would be great.

You would think it could be changed in the build. I have been looking through the build prop but just not sure if that's the right place to start or not. Has to be a way to re write it.

Change the network? It's determined by the Access Point Names and the Network Mode. If you're accessing an LTE-capable APN then as long as you're Network Mode is set to LTE/GSM/WCDMA (and your in an LTE area and have LTE provisioning on your plan of course) you're phone will access it if it's the strongest signal for you.
1 bar of LTE is way faster than HSPA+ btw

Do you have 3G or Hspa+ because on the stock roms it says you have 4G but it really isnt , it is Hspa+.

Have you actually ran a speedtest to determine your actual network speed?
I did a speed test and u get like 23mb download but that's included with my build.prop tweaks

You can Change the apn right then add z few modification to build.prop then you should have better faster network speeds in theory

So how do I set my Network Mode? My S1 (I9000) has a 'network mode' setting under 'mobile network settings'. It lets me choose between GSM, WCDMA, or both (auto). My S3 has no such setting or option. By the way, the I9000 always worked better in WCDMA Only mode.
I am on a Straight talk plan and have no access to 4G network.

4g settings???

Am I missing something where are 4g settings? Lol

More settings> mobile networks> network mode

It's not working on my either and the LTE option was already chosen.
I believe they screwed up on this, they'll probably fix this with an update.
They're setting us up. They're not gonna give it to us until the 4g lte price hike.

Funny I get 4g like no body's business. I stay connected even more so than my daughter's evo lte.
Try set to home only (sprint) under roaming. Notice my data is a whole lot stable compare to automatic.
Yeah it works...i get 4g. It connects automatically

Hi I have a tmobile s3 and im using it for simple mobile and data doesnt work. Messaging and calling works but internt doesnt work . I updated my 4g plan

Are you running stock? Any mods?
Check the imei number, make sure its not zero.
Also, where did you get the phone?
When did you upgrade your plan? Maybe its an account issue and you either need to wait a while or call the carrier and reset the account.

Tmobile S3 question

I have a sprint S3, my buddy just got a s3 and is on Tmobile while showing him some stuff on his phone I noticed they have a setting for wifi calling in there settings.. It allows him to use his data connection to receive and make calls when he has low cellular signal. I can't find this anywhere on the sprint version. This would be extremely helpful at work when I have no signal.

That is only natively available on T-mobile phones. I wish it was available for us too, that would be cool.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Would it be possible to port it? Or is there an app that would do the same thing?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I've never done it, but there's a way to do it with a combination of Google Voice and a VOIP app.
As far as porting it, I'm not a device so I wouldn't know. I think it has more to do with how t-mobile handles it rather than something that's actually on the phone.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I actually do have Google voice integrated what voip app would I need?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Any ideas?

Only app I know of that would be useful here is groove ip. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.snrblabs.grooveip&hl=en
Ok if i have the sprint integration of Google voice on my phone? and i download Groove i should be able to use my cell number over wifi?
*on a side note what is the advantages of google voice with sprint integration?
I feel like I saw that feature on ICS and then it went away in JB.

Slow speeds? Poor reception?

Recently came from the lg optimus g to this. When I had the G it consistently ran on 4g lte speeds of 15-18 , even saw 21 mbps download ....now on this its rarely above 3/5 bars and hd on youtube takes ages to load...normally id think att docked my speed because im over 5gbs but ive only had this device since sunday and todays the 5th .
Whats going on?
Edit: my galaxy is 100% stock
Stock rom, not rooted, everything stock
