Recovery with locked Bootloader without changing charger,... routines - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What I want is:
Like on my home PC I would like to make an image of my phone and recover it from the PC or phone... need not be that comfortable
I checked out x-parts(cwm autoinstaller) and se extreme tweaker. They all use the charger routines to get into nice recovery menues. I dont like the changing of stock routines ... (and it does not have to be so comfortable and can work by comandline from PC,...)
Is there any methode for my rooted ARC S for GB (or ICS) without unlocking the bootloader (flashing non stock ROM) ??

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390771

As I read/interpret the .cmd files also exchange the charger routines ... so its like x-parts or the SE tweaker ... I think

This is why it's easier to unlock, if you've rooted then you might as well just take the next step.

YES I know ... BTW:
- how does ROM Manager work ? does it work like the above or need an unlocked BL ?
- Ive heard that ROM Manager is not working well with ARC ... this is why everybody points to x-parts ...

I haven't used it, as it needs to boot in to CWM anyway I just do it the old fashioned way.

Connect device in fastboot mode (blue LED).
Open Command prompt and type:
fastboot flash system system_xps_prerooted_63fw.img
This will give you root immediatly after reboot!

I know roughly what you are talking about. I know command prompt, although I never used fastboot, as I only owned X10 (until I dropped it and USB port snapped ), so never had to/wanted to unlock bootloader this way. But I want to learn, that's why I am reading all this now, and I need to ask about something I am not sure of.
Just go through the unlock bootloader process and then you will know what fastboot is
After that just type my comamnd with my file in the same directory and you will be done.
Regards
If I were you I would wait till I get ICS on the phone then unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
Quick question. It just wonders me. Sony "supports" unlocking bootloader, which is more dangerous than root. Why rooting is not supported then? Is it because we could unistall third party aplications and Sony has some sort of agreements with them and are obligated by law?

No you are getting the idea wrong
Long ago we discussed alot with SonyEricsson and together decided this is the best way of doing it.
The reason is simple:
Rooting alone does not give you access to all partitions etc. pp See X10 Forums for that. Sony is very good in hiding partitions
With a bootloader unlock we get fully workable fastboot. We are able to write all partitions and change what we want. (Root too)
Also Sony(Ericsson) is able to track who unlocks and who not AND is able to provide a check mechanism to forbid unlocking of phones which are not owned by the user (for example provider branded phones in contract, the phone is usually property of the provider).
So this is the reason. Unlocked bootloader gives us nearly full access, so no need to worry I am in this game since X10 times (like you or not ?)and we always got the phones working like we wanted.
Our work for CM9 on XPS has started now too.

See, I was not aware of that "agreement". Now everything seems to make sense. I am android user since I bought X10 back in August 2010. I was more or less following XDA since then as well, but this forum is worldwide community and is almost imposible to keep a track on everything. I would consider myself somewhere between rookie and advanced users. I know how to do certain things (root, how to use ADB, I was changing framwork_res.apk for my own purposes, etc.). My point also is, I am more hardware sort of guy, rather than software. That's why I am glad you guys are here with us.
Will this wipe the phone data or only the system partition ?

Well no. But the first step is that you need to unlock bootloader and THIS WILL wipe your data. To flash the systempartition itself will not wipe userdata.

Yes, I agree. But myself, I will wait for root for phones with locked bootloader as well. I assume I will be happy with phone speed, but when CM9 comes out, then I will consider unlockin bootloader.

So you restored with Titanium. Since Titanium is a Root app and you don't had Root before i think you are trying to restore a backup from another phone.
If you do that you have to assure that you ONLY RESTORE APPS and NOT SETTINGS! Settings from another phone will be most likely incompatible.
So this wil be your problem!

Do you have R800a model? Did you unlocked your bootloader with testpoint?
Also, try back usb port on your motherboard, not front ones
Thanks for your reply, Yes it is a R800a, i used DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su, to unlock the phone,
i have tried back usb ports too, and well my pc does detect the device even if it is in recovery, but fastboot doesnt.

ZergRush method is just for rooting, not for "unlocking phone". Rooting is just a way to grant you root user right on your phone (and you can do it on locked bootloader, wich you obviously did). To be able to install custom kernel, you must first unlock bootloader
I don't have R800a model, so i can't help you much, but you can help yourself by reading sticky threads in "general" and "Q&A" sections to inform yourself about your phone, because R800a model is little specific (it doesn't have fastboot access, kernels can be flashed only in flash mode, and only when bootloader is unlocked via testpoint method)

You don't have fastboot, but you can stll flash kernel with flashtool in flasmode connected (back button pressed while plugging i phone)
There is thread for kernels in ftf format at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350707 that korrectmethod made for guys like you.

[REQ]Dump of the preinstalled rom

With the release of the kernel sources, it seems that the 3 AndroidOne devices all share the same kernel and internals,
with only the rom branding and chassis they're in being different.
If this is the case, then the roms themselves are built by goog and thusly OTAs handled directly by them.
What it also implies is that the 3 devices might be able to share roms and kernels as they already appear to share kernel sources.
What I need:
Dump of /system
If the rom prompted for an OTA at initial setup
Dump of /oem
Bootloader version
Baseband version
I am expected to get my handset on Saturday. I will try to adb pull ASAP and post.
I want the recovery.img
Sent from my GT-I9082 using Tapatalk
I'm also interested to port it to my bq aquaris e5
You don't have any OTA updates out of the box for now- the baseband version is WR8.W1412.MD.WG.GMP.SP.W14.26.P3, 2014/08/16 11:39

[Q] Installing ROM's [Xperia S]

So after a year and half with this phone, I thought about installing a better ROM.
I experience with these kind of things from the time I had the galaxy 1 and I changed tons of ROMs on that.
But the xperia seems a bit different with ROM changing.
What are some basic things I need to know, and where can I find the stock ROM (just in case)?
If this isn't the correct to forum for this post, please notify me.
ROM changing ist not very different from Samsung...
If your bootloader is unlocked and your CWM is working, then you can install all Roms as ZIP like on the Galaxy
Always make an Backup with CWM to be save and get back in case of errors, thereforce i didn't need a the stock ROM
Just have a look here on the last pages

thanks! But what I meant is that with my sgs I didn't need to open the bootloader and install CWM since it was already there.
How do I unlock the bootloader and install CWM, should I root it first?
Just have a closer look to the link mentioned above.
I postet there a link to a Guide, how to flash a custom rom (including unlocking Bootloader)
and Mirhawk gave aditional tipps
Have you bought your sgs secondhand?
Because you have to install CWM one time on your sgs, too.
And it is a similar effort to flash sgs with odin then unlocking your bootloader on the xperia S

Install ROM's in Xperia S is not difficult.
You must have Rooted your phone and Install CWM (like the comment above)
I was like you when I decided flash ROMs.
I recommend you see if your bootloader is open or not (when you verificate it, you will see in the screen of your phone BOOTLOADER UNLOCK, and then YES or NO. bootloader is easy to open when you have YES, but when it's in not is a bit complicated)
To put the BOOTLOADER UNLOCK in YES, first: you have to have your phone free (your phone have to be available to use with others companies) in my case, for example, i dont have my phone free, but to liberate it with my company, give mea code and after that I introduce it and set free the phone. (after that you will allow to open BOOTLOADER)
Here in XDA have 2 types of ROMS, to LOCK and UNLOCK bootloader, I am using TrinityVengance RaptorXL by f(x)THaxxorX, before that I used, LeopardX 5.0 by savergigio
To flash ROMs you use ClockWorldMOd, its very easy, if you need more help tell me
