Is the international GS3/quad core compatible with T-Mobile? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I assume the quad core gs3 is GSM? Will it work with T-Mobile 4G HSPA+? My friend is on T-Mobile and is planning to get the gs3 off contact. He wanted me to find out if T-Mobile 4G will work with the quad core version or should he just buy the T-Mobile version instead.

It will work but you will be stuck on Edge.

I'd check what frequencies it has. I'm using a T-Mobile version on at&t and get 4g data. If the international version has T-Mobile's frequencies then it should work.

Are you getting 4g lte or hspa? I don't think t-mobile s3 can do lte
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Would this work?
Tmobile uses Band (frequency): 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (AWS);UMTS: Band V (850)
Device Additional Information tab on that site says "Service 900, 1800, 1900, 850, 3g 2100"
But at the top of the page it says "Band:GSM 850/900/1800/1900"

T-Mobile UMTS/HSPA+ (3G/4G) mostly runs off 1700/2100 and the international model i9300 does not support the frequency we use. The quad band GSM/EDGE will work (and therefore voice/text and slow internets).
AT&T uses a more normal 850/1900 for everything but LTE, making them more "Normal" along with our Canadian neighbors.
T-Mobile is weird :-o.
If you've got access to any make of GSM based + unlocked iPhone, stick your T-Mobile SIM in it and see what speed you can get. An unlocked AT&T phone may work for testing also. We're supposed to be getting better coverage in this kinda frequency range for that but it will likely be a long time before we get sufficient coverage to enjoy a i9300.

Well put. It will be a long time before we see decent coverage for AT&T/UK phones.

Frequency Concern

Hi everyone,
I am planning to buy an international version of galaxy nexus (i don't know if there is another version or not) to use in America, probably Tmobile. I know that the galaxy nexus uses 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz as its working frequency. Coincidentally, the 3G and 4G networks of Tmobile also operate on the same range (1700/2100). Does that mean I can use 3G or even 4G network on Tmobile? or I still have to buy a phone from tmobile in order to use the high speed network?
Anyone is using galaxy nexus on Tmobile now?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks everyone!

The GSM version does not have an LTE radio, so 4G isn't possible.
I use the GSM from the Google store on tmo. I am in the Philly area and I get HSPA+ or 4G if you go by tmo.

HSPA+ is what tmobile calls 4g. They don't use LTE. So, the Google/International version will get 4g from tmobile.

Will Tmo S3 work on its future LTE network?

I'm about to upgrade my mytouch 4g to S3. But I'm wondering if S3 will support future LTE network. I've heard that in future 3G network will use 1900 band and lte will be implement on 1700/2100. Can S3 support LTE in future? If not, I'll probably wait for next year to upgrade my phone. THanks.
I think the only carriers version that does not is tmobile.

No, it will not support the LTE network. It is not included in the SoC of the phone.
Oh. That sounds pretty bad to me. But I thought tmo uses 1700/2100 for its lte network and MSM8960 has lte chip correct?

I saw they are planning LTE implementation in early 2013. Does anyone believe that? And where? Granted, they need to be able to compete so they've got to act relatively quickly, but in my experience HSPA+ ain't bad. I'm imagining I'll be ready to upgrade my S3 by the time LTE matters (Metro West Boston). Whatchya'll think?

Yes T-Mobile is slowly adding lte, the same band at&t uses. But like others have said, our T-Mobile version does not have the hardware to support it. If anything we need to use the at&t version, but we'll be missing the h+ bands.. so it's a clear cut from edge to lte... probably going to be spotty.. i would rather just stick with h+ or use s4

Yes. That's correct. TMO is deploying LTE on AWS 1700/2100 and use 1900(from ATT) for their H+ network. So that's why I'm a little confused here.
If let's say tmo finished upgrading, would the phone without 1900 band still be able to use the hsdpa+ network? I guess I have wait until they finish the upgrade.
I'm starting to believe Samsung are pushing these S3 phones away to release a newer S3 or something. $50 for a S3 with 2 year contract is ridiculously cheaper than any other recent phones on the market. It may be cheaper than S2. Companies usually do these type of moves when getting rid of something to present something newer (maybe the Note II) but to answer your answer, no. T999 doesn't support LTE but LTE does need AWS spectrum which T999 has.

MSM8960 chip supports LTE. can someone check.
So what qualcomm chip does this Tmo S3 have? Based off this teardown link its at:
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/cr...s-easy-open-case-difficult-to-fix-display/666
And that chip has LTE capability look at the S4 plus specs http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/s4/specs
Has anybody opened the phone to double check?
We've already had this discussion when the phone was first released. The short answer is no.

Can N7105 use Canada LTE?

Hi All,
I am using a N7105 on Bell Canada network. Seem my phone only max. on HSPA+ not LTE. Base on I am reading some information from internet. Bell is using 1700/2100/2600 Mhz for LTE. My phone only able pick up LTE 800/1800/2600 Mhz. My question is shouldn't my phone work on Bell LTE network on 2600 Mhz?? Also does anyone out there use N7105 and able to use LTE on Rogers/Bell/Telus???
Thanks
PC
wow really no one use N7105 in Canada???
It will work but generally performance would be poor inside buildings or in areas of interference, due to having only one compatible band instead of two.

This is stupid they don't follow the other country
So which model name/number is the Canadian Bell one? I'm thinking of buying one in Calgary, but I wanted to monitor ROM development before I got one, so which forum should I follow for the Canadian one? I just guessed it was an N7105, but apparently it's not!
Edit: Nevermind, found it on Wikipedia. It's SGH-i317M and seems roughly same as AT&T, I guess I'll go to that forum!
Although I don't know anyone that has a N7105 on LTE in Canada, I've seen people use LTE with a I9305 (with the same LTE bands as the N7105) in Vancouver at least, so technically your phone should work. It may be that your area doesn't have the 2600Mhz spectrum.

Ah so i called Bell they told me they have 2600 Mhz but you never know. Cause Bell tech. support sucks
N7105 supports 2600 mhz radio frequency, but a respective modem file need to be flashed for it to work on LTE network.
I had Note LTE i717 which supported 1700mhz lte of Rogers, and yes it worked with wind and T-mobile network using 1700 mhz frequency only after flashing tmobile modem.

Yeah me too hate .....I was in long dilemma to buy N7105 , but when I found this then i just bought it outright from Rogers.
Also to let you know that even after flashing 2600mhz to work as lte radio, you will only get lte in 2600mhz lte available areas only, bcoz lte in NA fluctuates many frequencies from 700/1700/1900/2100/2600.
Good luck and enjoy your Note2.

I just bought a N7105 international version from Hong Kong and yes it work on Rogers here in Vancouver. Make sure you get a LTE compatible SIM card. My old SIM card did not compatible with LTE so I only got H+ or 3G. Now I changed and I am on 4G.
The reception is only 2 bars most of the time though. Sometime I got 4 bars. I tried data speed using Speedtest.net and still got at max 52Mbps DOWN and 34Mbps UP even I am at 2 bars so I guess it isn't too bad.

If it says data pro 4g. Its not going to give you lte.
You need to have the imei of an att lte phone on your account then it will work.
I am sure that my data plan has LTE, I took it out my iPhone5 and I got LTE on my iPhone5. I have enabled the LTE and put the right APN. Still no data connection, I have not flashed it to a different modem. So what's wrong?
How to select the right LTE band? I have only select the "Network mode" to LTE/GSM/WCDMA(auto connect). and APN is that all?

To me, I don't think whether it supports the same bands matter. Use T-Mobile on T-Mobile, AT&T on AT&T, Sprint on Sprint, so on and so forth.

Yeah, for LTE bands, AT&T version has less bands due to their spectrum restriction: 700 MHz (Band 17), AWS, IMT, IMT-E, while the T-Mobile version have all bands: 700 MHz (Band 17), CLR, AWS, PCS, IMT, IMT-E

Incorrect-all AT&T LTE phones support Band 4 and Band 17-AT&T is predominately Band 17 and has a small Band 4 footprint. T-Mobile's entire LTE footprint is Band 4. The real issue with a TMO S4 is whether or not you can roam on AT&T LTE network when no native T-Mobile network exists-especially since T-Mobile switched many of their legacy plans with put a serious limit or outright block on data roaming.

It will "work", but I'm not sure how well. You will for sure get basic voice and text, as well as 2g data, and I think ATT and T-mobile share one LTE band, so if the LTE where you are is on that band, you should get that as well. However, I think their HSPA+ bands are different as well as their 3g bands, so you might not be able to get those. Someone may correct me though, as I'm new to T-mobile (and GSM) so I may be wrong on the 3g and HSPA+ part.
Yes, it will work. T-Mobile M8 will work on AT&T network for 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE. T-Mobile M8 and AT&T M8 are the same phone, except the T-Mobile M8 has more bands to support T-Mobile's network.
This is AFAIK, if I am incorrect, someone please correct me.

In short: 3G will work, but since AT&T’s 3G network is limited to 21 Mbps, you will only get half of the potential speed. 4G will mostly work, but the T-Mobile version does not have the radio/antenna for AT&T’s 1900 MHz network, meaning you can only get 700 MHz and AWS. 700 MHz 4G should be nationwide, though. See the deals below.

You’re close, but the T-Mobile version had fewer LTE bands. Just FYI, 4G is LTE (bad marketing not withstanding). Here are the frequencies of the T-Mobile and AT&T M8s:
2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G - WCDMA:
AT&T: 850/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps
TMUS: 850/AWS/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
4G - LTE:
AT&T: 700/850/AWS/1800/1900/2600 MHz
TMUS: 700/AWS MHz

Note that 4G on AWS and 1900 varies depending on the market, so you need to find out if they offer it on those frequencies in your area. You should get 700 MHz everywhere.

Yes LTE works and it's fast but what doesn't work is I can't send and receive pictures no matter what I try to fix it

Anyone yet know how to fix this without root? I'm not able to send and receive pictures even with the correct apn settings set.

If you're a current T-Mobile customer, I'd call their customer service and ask if they could help. I'm not sure if this helps.

Im wanting to know also. I might switch to att in november, and it would be nice to know for a fact that my tmo m8 will work, instead of buying a new phone.

Can't we just flash AT&T radio and stock ROM?
Have a TMO M8 and wondering about the same.
Should I return and bite $50 restocking fee or there is a way to make it fully functional on AT&T? Need to make this call in a day or two. Please help.

Thanks.
Will it work with AT&T stock rom?
I'm more concerned about radio as there are some differences I'm the bands that they use. Hate to find only 2G in some areas

Hi... sorry to drag this back up but looking at purchasing a T-Mobile M8 on Craigslist and using it on AT&T.
If I sim unlock the phone, install say a stock GPe ROM and the WWE radio... it should unlock all the LTE bands for use on AT&T? And the rest of the world, correct?
Just trying to confirm before I buy this.
Thanks guys!

It should work, I have an unlocked T-Mobile m8, flashed cm11 and still work on att
Works
I have a t-mobile M8 and using ATT sim card. I can send pictures.
Everything is working pretty good. At least in my area. (San Diego)
