IOTHiddenMenu (USB Settings, LTE Settings, Test Mode, Dialer codes, etc) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Most noteworthy edits include LTE only mode, LTE/CDMA mode(no 3G) and NV BACKUP/RESTORE. Nice little all-in-one shortcut for most of the hidden menus on this device.
If there is another thread on this in the Sprint Galaxy S III forums I apologize. Just going to outline this menu which is found on stock Sprint GS3 Touchwiz roms.
Getting Started
You can use Any Cut, Better Cut, Nova Launcher etc etc to make a shortcut to this menu.
1. Better Cut > New ShortCut > No > All Activities > IOTHiddenMenu(first one listed).
2. Any Cut > ?
3. Nova Launcher > Long press on home screen > Shortcuts > Activities > Scroll to IOTHiddenMenu and click it to expand > Scroll down to the first IOTHiddenMenu in that list(under GPSCLRX)
Now we can open our new shortcut and you should see the following screen...
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
USBSetting Menu
This menu switches the phone's USB mode when connected to a computer.
MTP (Media Transfer Protocol; device shows up as USB drive)
MTP + ADB (default setting; should be self-explanatory)
PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol; device shows up as camera)
PTP + ADB (should be self-explanatory)
RMNET + DM + MODEM (RMNet = USB virtual Ethernet framework; DM = Diagnostic Mode; Modem = self-explanatory)
DM + MODEM + ADB (self-explanatory) (best setting when using QPST/QXDM/etc)
LTE Mode Menu
I do not have LTE in my area yet. Could anyone detail what some of the options below do exactly? I'm sure one is for LTE only.
TestMode Menu > CDMA > COMMON > NEXT PAGE > NEXT PAGE > PREF MODE SET may be the better alternative to this.
LTE Service Forced
Enable LTE Mode
Enable GLOBAL Mode
Enable CDMA Mode (default)
TestMode Menu
1. UMTS
UMTS > COMMON > NV REBUILD (NV REBUILD, NV BACKUP, NV RESTORE)
Everything else under UMTS either doesn't work.. or isn't worth messing with.
2. CDMA
CDMA > COMMON > NEXT PAGE > NEXT PAGE > PREF MODE SET (CDMA/EVDO/LTE, GSM/WCDMA, LTE ONLY, CDMA/LTE, CDMA ONLY, EVDO ONLY)
Everything else under CDMA either doesn't work.. or isn't worth messing with.
3. LTE
Nothing of interest.. just displays LTE debug status.
4. SIM
SIM > CHECK NV (Helps identify possible incorrect settings. Displays current PREF MODE. NV should be set under RTRE Config.)
Not worth messing with anything else in here.
5. run EFS SYNC()
Doesn't do anything.
There are lots of other options in here to mess with but most are broken, not supported or just really not worth messing with. All the MSL settings for example... no matter what.. I can't seem to read/write a new MSL via Test Mode. CDMA > CONTROL > MSL Edit has broken my MSL. *Update* Fixed MSL. I also messed up my EFS playing with the wrong stuff. I was able to recover.. but BE CAREFUL!!

The ##DEBUG# Menu includes the LTE Engineering information screen, which is the only place to find the proper signal strength (RSRP) and signal quality (RSRQ) of a live LTE connection.

I was playing with that and tried Korea mode think it would put the phone in Korean
Disappointingly it didn't now I can't connect to sprint 3g
Some one help

run your NV RESTORE... TestMode > UMTS > COMMON > NV REBUILD > NV RESTORE. Make sure you hit the RESTORE setting and not Rebuild/Backup. The last thing you want to do is create a backup of bad nv settings(such as nv settings all being set for Korea mode). After you hit RESTORE the phone should reboot within a few seconds... wait it out. Your phone should now be unprovisioned... so it should try to OTA and that's that. If for some reason the "sktelecom" settings are still set... try running NV RESTORE one more time. If it STILL isn't fixed after that.. let me know. There are a few things we can do. Last night I messed my NV and EFS up pretty bad(sorta on purpose lol) but I was able to recover from everything. Even Korea mode.

Thanks man it worked perfectly
I tried updating profile and it did restore my username but not my 3g
You saved me a whole lot of time talking to sprint customer service bots

Auto
prime glad to see you have this phone. I follow your work on previous phones
I'm getting mine in a few days.
Question:
How do I backup NV? Where does it back up the items to? Internal memory?
Is it the same as backing up. NV 1192, 465, 466, and 1194?

hmm good question. to be honest im not sure where it backs up the files. pretty sure theyd still be in NV somewhere.
what you should do is connect gs3 to qxdm.. send 16-digit pass(same as epic/e4gt/etc).. then close qxdm and open up QPST EFS Explorer. All NV items will be unlocked in NVM > NUM. i think thats the folder anyway.. doing this all from memory. but ya... 1192 etc will now be viewable in EFS EXP when you send pw in QXDM first. No more "denied access" in CDMA WS

@auto
Have you figured out LTE is simply a MAC ID authentication?
Can we change LTE Macs and be connected like WIMAX?

Was going to do this as well
But the first 2 posts after the op's were my exact motivation in changing my mind. I had a feeling people would b ****n there **** up playin in it lol. Nevertheless, nice job OP, looks sharp. Well detailed too

anyone know where the settings are for MMS?
I'm trying to figure out how to send MMS on MetroPCS. on the Evo's I used a APN method, but apparently ICS doesn't allow 3rd party apps to write to APN. so I'm trying to enter the values manually. got into the DATA menu, entered a couple of the values, but a few other other values from that APN file are nowhere to be found in the DATA menu...and QPST refuses to see my phone?
any info on this would be great!

USCC
autoprime I have a USCC phone and have had no luck backing up the IMEI using the conventional QPST method. I have been searching Sprints info because some have had a similar problem.
When I try QPST it stops at 16% and says: "Roaming Lists could not be read".
Tried multiple times no luck.
I made a short cut to my hidden menus and everything looks to be the same as the OP.
My IMEI is currently fine.
That being the case is there a way to make a good backup now and restore it if things go bad? If this is possible can the backup be accessed and stored on a pc?
My goal is to find a way to back up the IMEI for myself and other USCC sg3 users. Any help would be very appreciated.

Which QPST program exactly is giving you this error? Also, random question for you... do the USCC Samsung devices have a 16 digit password that's used in QXDM? All Verizon Samsung's share the same password.. all Sprint Samsung's share the same password. You guys are kinda similar to Verizon's right.. same radio and all? so you know if 2010031619780721 works? Do you have QXDM or CDMA WS installed? Need to be able to send that password to the phone to fully unlock. then we'll work on backing up IMEI.

Are you referring to the NV RESTORE TestMode options? If so, I know of no current method to save that backup to a PC.
The TestMode NV RESTORE option should be pretty solid... if your phone boots.. you should be able to get to that menu. Same would be needed to get to QPST(booting phone).
So get back to me on which QPST app you're trying.. and what exactly is giving you the error... as well as any info on a 16 digit QXDM password.

sorry for the delay in response. i assume you got this fixed?
Post #6 on the first page of this thread has a fix if you messed with korea mode. you may need to go back to ICS for this instead of Jellybean.

ATT: NAM BLOCK;
the Mobile Object Model (MOM) can be categorized as PRL and NAM, with the NAM blocks existing as several different types. For example, the MDN NAM block holds the directory number for calling the mobile. The CDMA NAM block holds parameters used when the mobile is operating in the PCS spectrum. The Dual Mode NAM block holds parameters used by a PCS or CDMA mobile while it is being used in the CDMA/analog spectrum. The IMSI_T block holds the true IMSI of the mobile station
hope this helps.

To get to the APNs on ICS, use Titanium Backup to make the APN Backup and Restore app a system app, reboot, then in APN Backup and Restore, check the box to bypass ICS check. You should be good to go.

OMG, you have saved my sanity with this post! I've been pretty good at flashing and programming my family's phones and some for friends but most of those have been HTC units. I didn't think twice when I got a killer deal on a couple of 32GB GSIII's but trying to program these for our service has just about had me sticking my head in the oven more than once. One of the issues was that it seemed to depend on the handset's mood as to whether or not it would accept a code input via the keypad. I didn't even think of using a launcher to create a master shortcut like you have here. I'm still not quite there as far as getting these things programmed the way I want them but this post cut my irritation factor in half! Having said that, I'm still seriously considering tossing somebody a few bucks if they'd just do these for me. I love figuring things out and working on things like this as great puzzles but the hours I've put into these so far have kept me from getting actual work done. Are Samsungs always 50% hellspawns to work with?
Anyway, thanks again and thanks to everyone else who has posted great info on these phones. Part of me really wants to get a GalaxyNote II but another part of me is threatening suicide if I even think about wanting to program one!

Sprint GS3 CDMA. (SPH-L710) running android 4.1.1 and it is rooted and has CWM installed.
better cut 3.3 can not make a shortcut to the UI screens as only apps and widgets go there now since we are ICS and JB
what app to use?
or can i access the hiddenmenu another way?
i guess we sprint users dont need the shortcut as that menu for "USB Settings" is already there
##3424# lets me see that menu and i can easily select MTP, ADB and DB and all the rest.
so this isnt a problem anymore
thanks

Some of those steps are placebo, and unnecessary. That will only get you 1x internet, and dependent on your location you may/may never get 3g to work they've been blocking off more cities from flashed phones from getting 3g..

Help - mobile network state disconnected

My phone was working fine for a week or so. I had flashed a Legacy SERO phone over to this phone. Suddenly today the 3g icon disappears and under phone status, the mobile network state is always disconnected and I no longer have 3g data or MMS. Voice and SMS work fine.
The original donor phone works fine too (3g / MMS).
I've tried:
- flashing back to stock
- trying to reprogram NVItems (HA/AAA/Mobile IP stuff) back onto Note 2 (I think they were already there and I didn't change them, but it still doesn't work)
- tried to copy the APN for the donor phone over: but I cannot find a way to program APN on the Note 2, and isn't APN for GSM anyway?
- tried to copy the PRL from the donor phone over: but I cannot find a way to program PRL (tried DFS 4.0.1.1, which cannot read nor write the PRL)
This is really frustrating without data, can anyone help?

If anyone else runs into this, here's how I fixed mine:
I believe the problem was a combination of APN settings and the phone trying to go into LTE mode (which I don't have as a SERO classic user).
I had to turn off eHRPD and manually force the correct profile to load. I did this with:
##3282# => MSL => Edit => eHRPD (turn off)
then ##3282# => MSL => Edit => Others => LTE APN Settings => 3rd option (LTE - Sprint OTA). Oddly, before this change, none of the three options was checked, that could have been the source of my trouble.
Put it on CDMA mode only.
No cdma/lte. That will not work

[Q] cannot save data programing settings on my sprint gnex (google factory img 4.2.1)

i am trying to get 1x data by modifying the "data programming" settings after flashing my sprint gnex to pageplus..for example, i can get into it via *#*#MSL#*#* -> Edit -> Data Profile -> Username and make the changes. but i click back button and go back to homescreen and reboot the phone and try to view the same setting, the value is empty. what could i be missing here? (the values do persist as long i do NOT reboot the phone)...
there is no 'save' or 'done' button.. i know that sprint diagnostics app works fine (if i put eos ROM), but trying to stay away from it for now..
i also posted this on the autoprime's via chipset programming thread, but this seems to be more of a Q and A .. hence posting it here..

Sprint Phone To PagePlus 3G MVDO Programming
Software Requirements:
Cheap/Free - New QPST & QXDM Pro or DFS CDMA Tool Donor/Demo
Premium - CDMA Workshop ( FOR THIS PHONE YOU WILL NEED THE PAID VERSION --- NO OTHER OPTION WILL WORK )
ESN Change - not required for Verizon clean non-blacklisted phones
(Signed Keys Required):
To get 3G Data a Phone must obtain Verizon/PagePlus unique ID/Keys after activation that is delivered to each phone.
Each unique HAA/AA password key is tied to the account phone number.
Activation is network new number/port setup, phone to phone ESN/MEID swap, or phone number change.
QPST will write to my HTC EVO. For non-data programming once you do the above just allow the phone to self-activation. It completes but it doesn't program the 3G data.
Requirements:
1. Sprint 3G Cellphone (prefer clean ESN)
2. Either the latest QPST & QXDM Pro (recommended) , CDMA Workshop, or DFS Tool (recommended)
3. Modified Sprint PRL for Verizon Network
4. Verizon DMU Key ( THIS IS THE "10 KEY" IN EFS )
First you must program the Phone to Verizon/PagePlus.
A. Change MSL from Sprint MSL unlock,
ehow Sprint MSL or MSL Reader = marketplace download {require root}
B. Next Program Verizon format contained within documents if not porting with a preexisting phone number use [email protected] and [email protected] for phone provisioning.
C. Copy/Push the DMU Key to Phone’s DMU folder
D. Program the Verizon PRL
E. You must Disable mobile network data before you Dial *228 Activation
F. Activate the Phone with *228 which will update most data information then reboot
G. Within 10 – 15 mins of Activation do the following
H. Verify and correct your [email protected] in phone provisioning to final phone number
I. Program the phone with the following:
Program all Verizon phone passwords and HA Shared passwords to "vzw" without quotes. Click profile 0 and click edit.
Check and make sure your “NAI” is the correct one for Verizon/PagePlus network:
MCC 310 and MNC 00
NAI: [email protected]
MN HA SPI Set: Enable
MN HA SPI Value: 12C
MN AAA SPI Set: Enable
MN AAA SPI Value: 2
Reverse Tunneling: Enable
Home Address: 0.0.0.0
Primary HA Address: 255.255.255.255
Secondary HA Address: 0.0.0.0
DMU Pub Key: 10
MN Authenticator: 0
Rev Tunnel Preferred: Checked now with both passwords hit ok.
Now Profile 1 information below must retain the same data details as profile 0.
Your AAA is [email protected]
Your initial HA Shared is vzw
Rev Tunnel Preferred: Checked now with both passwords hit ok
J. The 3G DATA Sprint trick.
On Sprint a Phone without activation will have its Active Mip profile defaulted to 0. After any type of programming the default Active Profile becomes 1 but you’ll NEED it to be set to 0 for the initial data Verizon programming connection only.
Generally changing the Phone’s Active Mip Profile by ESPT Dialer or by programming software will auto reboot the Phone.
Warning, by all means necessary AVOID the Phone reboot as it will initialize your Phone’s Active Mip Profile back to 1. There is a critical reason for this!
* You’ll need a root experimental ESPT Dialer to change the Phone’s active data profile setting which will fail to reboot.
OR
* You'll need to use CDMA or DFL Tool and change the Active Mip Profile to 0 without rebooting the active Phone. {Not sure reread I}
K. After changing Mip Profile to 0 be sure to view the changed Dialer ESPT ##DATA# “Date Profile” settings at least two as this could crash. At crash view again until the ##DATA# reloads resolves any crashing.
L. After changing the profile above your Phone’s voice and data transmission will be inactive. Toggle “Airplane” mode first ON then OFF. Now your signal bar will show an active broadcast transmission again.
M. Change network to CDMA PRL or do whatever you need to do for the Phone to maintain a stable data connection.
N. Enable the mobile data network, preferably outside. Maintain data connection for at least 10 minutes
O. Before you Reboot / Power off the Phone Disable the mobile data network again.
P. Use DFS TOOL or QXDM Pro and copy all of Mip Profile 0 data to Profile 1. Clone both your HA Shared & AAA passwords then enter all information that was programmed OTA earlier and clone to profile 1.
HA Shared Secret: shouldn't be garbled characters (OTA programming has assigned your phone unique keys)
AAA Shared Secret: shouldn't be garbled characters (OTA programming has assigned your phone unique keys)
Now you’re done!
You will get:
A. Voice
B. Text
C. 3G Data Locked
MMS Setup:
Requires you change the Phone’s APN Settings:
A. Dial ##DATA or Voice Dialer speak “Open APN”
B. Change to:
Port delete {Not Set}
Proxy delete {Not Set}
MMS http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
press menu button then Save
Thanks bud!
Wow, thank you for taking the time to post all that information. It seems to be a lot more work than I thought, especially with the money I'll have to spend to get the right versions of the required software for this job. I'm seriously thinking of letting someone else just help me. Thank you again for your help!

Is there a way to unlock 5.1.1. OH1?

I already have root and have tried idones app to unlock, but for some reason, the unlock seems not to be working. The app says the phone is unlocked but when I insert a GSM sim card into the phone, it doesn't get any signal and the hands free activation loops. I was advised to go into settings -> mobile networks -> GSM, but the mobile networks setting disappears when I put in a GSM sim. It comes back if I put my Sprint sim is put back in. I also select GSM on that while my Sprint sim is in but when I take it out, that menu disappears. Is my phone unlocked or is it still locked? If its still locked, what steps can I take to unlock it given my current build and android version?
Idone should b able to help . Go to dialer, dial *#0011# ,
then in service mode press menu > back , then press menu > key input and type "Q" and press enter.
Then press menu > key input and type "0000" thats zero , 4 times .
The rest im copy n pasting from "jayfi" post iver at the us cellular forum
