This is a project that aims for that good 'ol speed and stability our Hero had when it was struttin' his a&% on an android version older than my grandmother. This rom contains Android 2.1 with, according to Wikipedia - Original Sense!
General Info: Sense UI is based on the UI for Windows mobile called Touch FLO 3D which made his debut back in 2008 on a HTC Touch Diamond.
Please keep in mind that some of the applications may not work *correctly* (facebook for sense, peep etc.) hence they are too old and the API-s have changed in the meantime.
The beauty of sense (talking about this particular sense version) nowadays is fading away. The status bar header (where your carrier name is written) is too big, the colors are too faded etc. But I'm aiming for speed and stability. The visual look was not forgotten. I personally don't like the stock Sense UI as it was back in 2009/2010 and I've decided to include this theme right here. Thanks to L0cke for that!
The version of the android 2.1 is - 3.32.405.1 - which is in my opinion the smoothest and fastest. Tried playing with 3.36.xxx version - it was a no go for me.

you made partition on your sdcard and its not working? you can check this if you install titanium backup.

now that i got an sdcard for my old hero (i was swapping the old one between one v and hero lol) i can go fully retarded!
oh, can you point me in the right direction for desire c? what's the codename for it? because desire C doesn't ring a bell for xda's searchbox.

Hi, thank you for this ROM - it has a great speed! Only thing that can be reworked (or explained better) is how to use App2SD? Do I need a special version of EXT (EXT2/3/4), special partitin place (on the biggining of partition table etc.)? I'm asking because my current installation doesn't have App2SD working (and it worked with other ROM's). Thanks again.

I have stated into the OP that App2sd needs special attention from you guys because I hadn't tested it yet. But ofc, when the OP is very long, no one reads it and jumps right at the download link.
It will be fixed as soon as possible(few hours to 1 day). I didn't expected that it will work.

The idea behind this ROM was to get as much free space as possible, while keeping HTC enhancements to android, like dialer, calendar, contacts etc.
To achieve that, besides many enhancements and optimizations, the HTC Launcher (Rosie.apk) and ALL HTC Widgets have been removed.
This ROM is partly RE-odexed and loads parts of the framework into the RAM, for better performance and more free space.

Good to know:
Everything is working.
170MB free space on SECOND boot (194MB with UseLast24Nand!). Why on second boot? Because the part of dalvik cache, which is loaded to the RAM isn't cleared at first boot, but on second boot and all following.
ROM is running on a 230MB system partition. If you don't know how to set it up yourself, use this
Framework partly loaded into RAM. This method is the same as imilka uses. Thanks to imilka for pointing out how to use it.
Re-odexed system/apps. You are still able to use UOT-Kitchen; framework deodexed.
No app2sd+; No data2ext.
Zipaligned and rooted. Not squashfs-ed!
Multilanguage; w/o Arabic.
Coffee accepted ;-)

no, sorry. I explicitly wanted a ROM without the need of any dependence on the sd card. otherwise most of the other desire hd, desire s or incredible s ROMs would have sufficed.
if you are willing to use an ext partition, there is imho actually little sense in using any light or compact ROMs, such as mine. ;-)

Advice - you can activate uselast24nand in Magldr-Service menu. It will give you another 24 Mb space Do it Before flashing CWM from computer!
Dont forget, if you will flash new version of magldr (if will ) this 24 Mb will be erased.
But still i use it on many ROMs, never was problems.
But do it on your own risk

Yeah, I need to clarify this a bit: I kept some of the smaller widgets because I wasn't sure what dependencies there are. With HTC Sense it's not always clear. For example: The HTC Keyboard depends on the HTC SetupWizard - so does the HTC Location Service and Weather etc ...
Thats why I kept the weather app too. I wanted to save the weather forecast functionality on the calendar and the location service. So I didn't remove any weather parts, as they rely on each other.
Some other smaller widgets (together less than 1MB) are kept for the same reason. Deleting all those files would bring another 1,5MB, but I just didnt want to endlessly trial and error just for the last few bytes, since 105MB isn't too bad. But of course there is always room for optimizations. ;-).

Yes, those values are correct. The cache on most of the sense builds isn't a separate partition but part of the data-partition. Still we have to flash 1MB because of CWM ...

Yes, its a neat feature. But be careful, not only does flashing magldr erase those last 24MB but just entering SPL does too (without flashing anything).

No, sorry. Like stated before, there is no point in that. If you are willing to use your SD-card as an integral part of the daily use, you can as well try a full-sense build. This ROM is optimized to work without any SD-card for best batterylife and stability.
And thats really the main advantage on this ROM: Its small (for a Desire HD based ROM) and stable.
Just released an update to version 1.3. I managed to squeeze out another 22MB. This means you will have 127MB of free space on the first boot. With "UseLast24Nand" you'll even have 151MB. With those new modifications this should be the smallest Desire HD based ROM you can get.
I changed my mind and deleted Adobe Reader, YouTube and Quickoffice. You can get the first two on the market. As for quickoffice - it was bugged, so no sense in keeping it. Alternatives can be found on the market too.

Hi guys. I come here to bring you some bad news
My HD2 has finally died. The mini-USB port is broken. The phone does not charge. I contacted HTC to know what's the status of my warranty, but to send it it has to be stock, and to make it stock i need my battery charged. So, I'll buy an external charger for my battery from Ebay or elsewhere. But it will be a long time til I'm able to actually use my phone again. I can't keep working on this ROM. Why can't I?:
A. I'm going on a trip this July, so even if the phone gets fixed, I don't think it will be before the trip which is in mid-July.
B. I graduated from middle school this year, which means I'm going to high school on August. The school i chose is a boarding school, and it's a very demanding school, academically(is that even spelled right lol?). So that means I won't have time for ROMS or XDA
I just want to say thanks to all the community for the support. I also want to apologize for not finishing this ROM. Maybe someone will use it as a base and finish it.
On a side note, I was lucky. My Sensation arrived on Thursday and the HD2 died today. My mini-review is: The Sensation is the sexiest phone ever, inside out. But, it's not a worthy replacement for the HD2. One of the things that bothers me the most is that the HD2 running Sense 3 has the same amount of RAM Free that the Sensation has. Also, it's a little bit laggy, considering its processor is dual-core. It's fast, but not dual-core fast. But, you know, it's REALLY sexy'.

Working: Practically everything. Camcorder is laggy...
Bugs: Visual Glitches. (The same ones in all GB Sense Roms). Tethering not working. For Youtube to work you need WiFi turned on, you don't need to be connected but it has to be on.

* b4 flashing/patching anything else in system, make sure system partition has enough space for that...
*Disable audible touch tones on first boot for no robot voice on calls.
*Disable quiet ring on pickup, pocket mode and flip for speaker for improved battery life.

FC on HTC Location Service. (just hit wait)

Use quickboot app to shut down your phone, it's included in the rom.

These fixes are inside the rom, and they're mostly apps that weren't working correctly, and Rosie. Also, I removed the EGL fix so you could apply it yourself, because when it's inside the rom, it becomes quite unstable.

As far as I know, Wifi hotspot doesn't work on any Gingerbread Sense Rom. I have no reception at home so I can't try it out.

, If you have problem with Data/Network signal go to Dialer and press: *#*#4636#*#*
Then go to Phone infomation, select: WCDMA preferred
press Refresh than Update and Toggle DNS check (0.0.0.0 allowed)

Congrats, i've ported this Desire rom too (huge thanks to Desire xda devs) for my EU HD2, working quite nice (but it's very hard to load sense after reboot and camera is not working, and other old bugs - power menu not working, some gfx glitches) but everything other seems to be good, perfomance similar to sense 2.1 roms
Since you'll release your version to public, i think people will be glad to have much more stable sense 3.0 rom than others in this forum
pm me if you know how to fix camera or fix sense not loading after reboot (because mine loads only after 2-3 force closes, it's pretty annoying )
if somebody have android.policy.jar from clean kingdom ruu, please upload it here (maybe it will help to solve problem with power menu)
p.s. i'm not a dev, just a regular user

I may try... but I don't have a leo512 to test it, and I have a very slow internet connection right now where I'm at. So I don't think I could put out both Roms today.

Guide
1) If still on old version of magldr flash the new version v1.13 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
2)Download CWM v1.3 150mb partition here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
3) Once the phone boots go to usb flasher, and it will say "usb waiting"
4)Connect the phone to the pc and unzip the 150mb partition. Run DAF.exe as administrator(if on win 7/vista) or double click for xp.
5)Click next and it should reach a screen with progress bar. There should be some errors popup on xp but ignore.(Due to files not found by xp)
6)Place the rom on the sdcard, remember to have 1gb ext2/3/4 partition on sdcard.
7)Phone should reboot after flashing, once at menu screen, select AD Recovery
8)Congrats you have cwm now! To flash the rom, select "install zip from sdcard" and find the rom.
9) Wait 10min+ and the rom should complete. Then reboot the phone and the rom will boot for the first time. (1st time usually takes longer

Um I did the wallpapers manually by hand using picsaypro on market.
Its also the default wallpaper for HTC wallpaper 1

BUT, the Bluetooth doesn't work : it can be activated but it won't get connected to my car. It's the only thing that bothers me but it's really important and it can't be for daily use without bluetooth.
Many many please, fix this bluetooth problem and it will be perfect.

Bluetooth now working in v1.2.
The rom is not at its fastest cause I forgot to set correct permissions for script. Its now blazing fast for v1.2, especially without graphics fix.
Uploading v1.2 EU now.
You made me want the 1.2 so bad that I'm killing my keyboard (at least F5) right now (it's 10:32pm in France and I want to install it tonight)

Edit : I really like to have a battery % (without circle if possible), you put it out in the 1.2, I didn't have any problem with it (only problems with 1.1 : Bluetooth and FC on HTC Live Weather wallpaper). I hope someone can help you with that.

PROLOGUE
I decided to to go back in future and revisit this "old" ROM, because I got fed up of those new fancy-dancy GB/froyo ROMs which couldn't wake me up, make me miss calls, couldn't make photos or I have to wait 5 min before I can start using google maps.
The base of this ROM is default stock Sense 2.1 WWE from latest OTA update. I kept this build as close as possible to the original including odex files. Mixed with OC kernel and compcache this ROM features very high free data storage great multitasking and extreme performance. Few changes have been done to visual looking, but the rest is basically unchanged.
ROM is great for those who need a fast and stable phone for daily use and also decided to keep all downloaded apps on phone storage. But to unleash the best performance it is highly recommended to have microSD card class6+ formatted with ext4/swap partitions.

TIPS & TRICKS:
CPU. To change CPU speed edit file /system/etc/init.d/05cpuspeed and chose between available speeds. No need for 3rd party apps.
What is Compcache? I don't recommend to use with class4 or slower sd cards as it can reduce overall speed. But hey, you tell me. To disable compcache delete file /system/etc/init.d/08compcache or change file rights to 644. More theory crafting read here...
Battery. It might be good idea to re-calibrate battery after ROM flash. Just charge to full, boot into recovery and wipe battery settings.
Notifications/Alarms/Ringtones. You can easily add your own pack of soundtracks. For that create on sdcard folder named media. In that folder create sub-folders alarms, notifications and ringtones and copy your sounds into appropriate folders. Done. Supported formats are .mp3 and .ogg.
What Is Odex And Deodex In Android
Get older Waze here. Apparently it's more stable.

Original HTC Lockscreen (v2). When unlocks it pulls down whole lockscreen image.
Heroine++ de-odexed pack. It includes de-odexed version off app and framework folders. It is not a ROM or update.zip. It is for those who want to mess arround with ROM theming or other customization. To use it you must boot into recovery, do full wipe, delete app and framework folders and push these to /system. Change recursively both folder rights to 644 and folder itself to 755 and you are ready to boot with de-odexed ROM version.
Nice are you really recommending swap? Haven't tried it personally, but everyone says It's a bad idea..

Finally I seem to have found a ROM I can use every day.
I've tried all the ROMs on this XDA front page and all have problems one way or another. Very frustrating !
This just seems to work and at a nice speed.
I have been on Froydvillain for a while now but that started getting back it's gps restart bug. This has been fine so far with Co-Pilot (touch wood !)
It even tries and plays flash on the stock browser but the Hero just hasn't got the grunt.
The only thing I miss from the CM7 based ROMs is the 2g/3g direct toggle. Pity there isn't one for sense but a few more key presses versus a stable ROM is a no brainer.

... along with every other 2.1 sense rom for the hero and even the way the phone came stock...
ppl tend to forget that the hero was playing full flash animations and flash games, albeit somewhat slowly, almost 2 years ago thanks to HTC's flash lite.
anyhow, this is a very cool sounding rom - I'm impressed with the concepts you've chosen here whitealien!
Although I have to say that the current release of cm7 by elelinux is pretty outstanding and plenty fast, and the fastest rom around is VE6 which is much faster than even the fastest sense roms.
still I'm going ot give this a try. seems like the best two sense roms right now are aeonflux and kimera 3, with kimera 3 being a little faster but aeonflux having more cool extra features.
Your rom though claims that fast speed but also to have one of the most useful features from aeonflux (or any legend or slide port) which is friendstream. So I'm excited about this!
Compcache is surprising... major devs have long thought it was slower than not using it. cool though, if it does work with fast sd cards!
@Habarug - well, with compcache on you gain additional 25% of RAM. But like I said slow sdcard may reduce performance since system have to read and decompress stored RAM on swap partition which takes more time than reading directly from RAM. I have class10 card

I think OC CPU @710 and class6 or faster sdcard is a deal breaker, but you tell me
Personally I find it amazing be able to listen music and in the same time read news on internet, then open google maps, then open gmail and then go back to internet page where you left it without needing to reload page. And yeah, Sense always stay's in RAM.

I got FC's on pretty much everything so I reverted back to my nandroid backup. It occurs to me now though I forgot I changed my Titianium Backup datebase to a version that only works on Android 2.3+ so I might give it another try tonight.

Android 2.3 is SDK 9, this is SDK 7. Newer versions are not backward compatible with older, so it's normal to see FC's on everything.

Yeah, I realised my mistake shortly after I restored the nandroid backup. Will give this another go later.
Somehow someway, i keep getting a error message, when i try to configure gmail/market etc saying you need a reliable connection :S But my internet 3g/wifi seems to work in browser :S help?

Running this now, default settings, class 2 but fast 16gb SD card. Very quick sense Rom. Maybe fastest ever! Compcache or not, this rocks!

The rom is just awesome !! Everything I wanted in my hero since I have it. I found one bug though - facebook pictures cannot be synced with profile pictures from contacts list. Even when I link a contact to its facebook profile - the picture stays this gray one , witch is default from htc sense. Any idea why Regards - keep the good work guys.

of course I did , I did it twice - i mean - wiped , flashed , then again the same , after that I did factory resec .. witch was useless, but - the problem still exists dammit. There`s no way to attach facebook profile picture to a contact - except save it to the sd card , then use gallery to set it up. Sooooomething is wrong here
Well guys, this is my own creation of Sense 4.1 lite rom for our device. I chose the name coz I liked it very much.
I always wanted to create a rom with the ability to chose the way I want my rom to be. So I created this rom where practically you are in control of every single app you are going to install on your phone.
The idea came from Elegancia rom from desire X. I asked the permission to port it but it was denied so I created by own aroma script from scratch with the ability to make everything optional except the core files.

THEMES
Hey guys, im posting what i've modded so far, which is com.htc.resources.apk and message.apk. I tried them and both work fine for me, and ajhavery also reported that they were working for him. You will however, notice that some icons will still be unthemed, this is because more .apks need to be themed. I'll be working on them to deliver them as soon as possible.
For now, installation is through adb, i dont know how to make a flashable zip, and dont have enoguh time right now to go through the tutorials. Once i've finished with al the modding, i'll look into it.

Hey guys, Theme is finished (at least the apps i've had access to the sense 5 icons and images...)
Also, i put all the apks into a .rar so you can download them all at once. There is a read me file there if someone gets lost at installing them, but for now its still through adb...it just clarifies to which folders they should be pushed!
Also, message bubble has been returned to its stock green color

There is /system mount problem. Can't write or delete anything.

same question I have.. How much free RAM after installation? can you provide a screenshot?
because in most of sense RAM they consume much RAM and after installing my all apps free RAM < 50 MB

It is sense lite so keeping sense doesn't hogs a lot of resources and I personally don't remove sense on sense lite roms.

Free ram is ~80mb-100mb and if you enable sd swap of 256mb it is usually >100mb.
i like instalilition very much, and rom realy fast thank you man its realy good work, i just didnt like that there is not 4x1 wheaterclock. Can i add it rom myself?

Great Rom this room is officially my daily driver ! Aroma doesn't install HTC note and Twitter even if i'm sure to check it... With qriozum kernel the rom is soooo smooth but it still the battery drain problem when play music through headphones.. thank you for your project !!!

I fixed all those minor bugs in 1.4.3, try it.
Flash and remove yesterday since I can not get mount system as rw to apply some tweaks and use link2sd, but overall it is smooth but need more free RAM for applications run, I was through that Lite version will have much more free ram.
Anyway, thank you for a good rom!
