1. First of all, you need Drivers For your symphony W25 (Smphony.W25/Karbonn.A7/Mobistar.S01/Ktouch.W650 All are the same phone)

Install them while connecting your phone on "USB debugging mode", and going to "device manager > other devices" on your pc. After installation disconnect the phone.
(I believe some of you are having problems installing the drivers. I recommend you install the drivers on a freshly installed winXP pc. I faced a lot of trouble doing it on my Win8 pc)
2. Download Android software development kit (SDK) from Here and install in pc. Default installation Directory should be C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk
3. Android SDK may need Java development kit (JDK) installed in pc. If you need jdk, go here or go to their Website to download
3. Download Fastboot From Android Central and keep it inside
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder
4. Download Clockwork Mod Recovery for w25 from Link #1 or Link #2, unzip and copy to the same folder. replace duplicate (if prompted).
5 hook your phone up with pc in USB debugging mode and go to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder, Press Shift+right click inside that folder and select "open cmd window here". It opens a cmd window for that folder.
In the cmd window, type

If the driver installations are correct, you'll see your device connected as w650 (as symphony is re-branded from k-touch w650)
6. Disconnect phone from pc and reboot it into the bootloader, by turning it off and holding [vol-up]+[power]
Till screen turns green and says fastboot:recovery ?, Like below
7. Plug your phone into your computer. On cmd window, type:

Reply should be "???????????? fastboot" Meanng fastboot detected the device.
8. In the cmd line, type

fastboot boot recovery-english.img
And that's it. You'll have booted into the custom recovery (cwmr), and from there you can do a full backup, or restore a backup, or wipe the phone. Use vol up/down to navigate through screen and Power to select an item.
9. Use CWMr to backup your ROM. (It will be saved in: "SD card/clockwork mod/backup" on phone.) and reboot. Copy the backup into pc for further use.
Step 8 was to make sure cwmr works on the phone. It's a temporary port of cwmr on your device.
if problem occurs (less likely to occur), let us know in a comment and don't proceed further.
Otherwise, Proceed below for permanent port..
10. Repeat step 6 and 7. Go to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder and click on recovery.bat file. Click on it and in the next window, Press any key
Permanent port will be completed
reboot phone if not rebooted automatically.
11. To check cwmr, Repeat step 6 but keep pressing the two buttons even if the screen turns green (fastboot). Continue until.....
screen is red (recovery). after that you'll see Clockwork mod recovery page.
You'll need it to restore your original rom if you mess up anything.
12 In CWMr,
a)]Go to Advanced
b) Choose "Wipe dalvik-cache"
c) Now go to "Mounts & Storage"
d) Choose "Format /cache"
e) Shutdown your phone
13. Download and unzip bootrepack from this post (by jason_cheng). Copy the "boot.img" file from "rootrepack" folder and paste to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder
14. Repeat steps 6 & 7 (green screen)
15. In cmd window type

fastboot flash boot boot.img
and

fastboot reboot
see image below if you have any confusion.
16. After the phone is restarted, type in cmd window:

adb shell id
which should result "uid=0(root) gid=0(root)"
Rooting is now Unofficially completed
17. To verify, Type each line in cmd window, and press enter

echo "1" > /system/pwned

cat /system/pwned
If the Reply to the last line is "1", Congrats ! you have root access to your phone!!
Now remove that test file you created just now. Type:

rm /system/pwned
What now?
18. Install "Superuser" from Play store
It does not come with su binary. For that, Go to this post and download only the attachment. Unzip it and put the files in C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools folder.
19. Now open cmd window, type each line and enter.

adb push su /system/xbin/su

adb shell

chmod 4755 /system/xbin/su
now open superuser and check for su binary. I don't recommend su update.
20. Install "Busybox free" from Play store (optional)
Rooting Officially Complete.​

Maybe is needed to extract the "boot.img" to remove the restrictions on it, and make it rootable... Have you tried with generic "rooters"?

Change partition size on A7/W25

That file contains the partition tables, remember this tutorial is about editing the partition tables not extending your physical memory.
So, lets get cracking. Open HxD from programs and open the appsboot.mbn file, now press F3 and search for ' cache ' and press F3 until you see something like this

there are a few repetitions of ' F0 F0 F0 F0 xx ' multiple times, you are concerned with only the first two /system and /cache partitions respectively.
Remember, you don't need to specify the partition size for /data as it is done automatically when you flash the baseband.
Now back to the hex editing part, once you've decided how much space(in MBs only) you wanna allocate to /system and /cache use this link to Convert hex/dec and select the two digits after the F0 F0 F0 F0 like in this pic
and type the hex number for example in the screenshot B4 in hex equals 180 in decimal, which means /system is allocated 180 MB of space and do the same with Cache, I would recommend allocating 10 MB to it as you hardly ever use it. Then flash the baseband like you normally do through Fastboot.

Your phone is the same with mobiistar s01 and karbonn a7, maybe the developer of symphony keep the original cpu clock(1ghz) and s01, a7 was underclocked to 800 to save battery. Now if you want to root.you must install fastboot driver and install cwm recovery for a7 first.then backup your current rom... when done, install rooted rom for s01 and you will have root, but your cpu will be underclocked to 800ghz.
And can you send me the link to download your backup rom??? I need the 1ghz kernel to mod my rom... thanks.

These phones aren't - or shouldn't be - that difficult to root. I have just rooted an Xplorer W10 from W7 x64 (and reproduced on Linux), and it went without a hitch. Just a number of gotchas to watch out for (from here on I actually refer to W10 and all other models since they are of the same series):
1. Uninstall any kind of driver you have installed. Symphony does not provide drivers for their Android phones, as far as the website is concerned. You get what you pay for, and this is a relatively remote brand, so don't expect much. In fact, don't expect anything at all.
2. Download and run SuperOneClick. Click on the other tab and choose to check for drivers. You should be prompted to install a driver. Do it.
3. Unplug and replug the USB. Go into the ADB folder and shift-right-click, open a command prompt here. Type 'adb devices' and press ENTER. There should be at least one device listed (in the form of an alphanumeric serial).
4. If there is no device listed by ADB, use Linux to root. There is no need to install any driver on Linux, and SuperOneClick is multi-platform. You will need the mono package on Linux instead of .NET.
5. The phone is actually partially rooted. Whether by intention or by mistake, I am not sure. SuperOneClick will warn of this, so just choose to continue with the rooting process.
6. You should now be rooted.
Background:
There is no exotic bootloader locking going on with these phones, as far as I can tell. The manufacturers/vendors are really just trying to capture a certain segment of the market, so I doubt they'd go through extensive efforts to lock you in. Just find any exploit (right now psneuter and zergRush), put them on the phone along with the su and busybox binaries, execute the exploit, and you'll be good to go with the Superuser app.

I've used SuperOneClick before. In both 7 and XP machines. It gets stuck at "step 7".

Drivers install this time. and cmd>adb shell shows attached device, just like you said. but nothing happens after step7: waiting for device

Unfortunately, CWMR needs to be built for your hardware in order for it to work. I think CWMR for the Karbonn should work without modification if it has the same hardware, so see if you can find info on getting CWMR onto the Karbonn. If the bootloader is really locked then you'll have to find some way to unlock first.
Backup the recovery partition [1] before doing anything, although I cannot verify whether it's the same partition across all phones. If anything goes wrong you will lose the ability to boot into recovery mode, but your phone will work. With a backup of the partition you can just bit-copy and rewrite the partition exactly as it was.
Because you already have the drivers installed using SuperOneClick, you may like to see now if Unlock Root works [2]. Else, go ahead and root the phone using the manual method. First, run the exploit [3]. Tell us how this goes, then we'll continue (basically upload the su binary and optionally the Superuser app). Otherwise we need to see what other exploit works.

Thanks. I suspect the W25 does not have the Karbonn A7 hardware. If the Karbonn is a rebranded Mobilstar S01 then it has a Qualcomm ARMv7 processor. The Symphony phones (hypothesis based on the only one phone I have, that is a W10) are rebranded Tinno [1] phones, with MediaTek processors.
My W10 is ARMv6, so it depends on whether the W25 has an SoC based on the latest MTK proc (which is ARMv7) [2]. That is highly unlikely because it (the proc) would be too powerful for the model number. As you may or may not know, binaries are not portable across ARM cores.
The phones do indeed have the same chassis and general specs, but any attempt to port and/or copy files/ROMs must be taken with great care and precautionary steps. There is, of course, no rule that each model must depend on the same manufacturer, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Well, popular devices have more people tinkering with them and hence more results I suppose for budget devices we are on our own. After all, I believe these phones are pretty value for money and the effort to tinker is worth it.
Anyway, my suspicions are wrong. Symphony (or whoever they rely on) hand-pick reference models and do not depend on any particular vendor. The W25 is ARMv7 from Qualcomm, rebranded from K-Touch W650 [1] with modest hardware upgrades, almost similar to the Mobiistar and Karbonn:
Mobiistar Touch S01: Qualcomm MSM7225A
Symphony Xplorer W25: MSM7627A or MSM7625a (but because of 1GHz clock more likely the former) [2]
Either way the differences are minor I presume. Clock speeds are different and on-chip options vary slightly depending on what the manufacturer opts for. So with a bit of work someone could port existing recoveries and ROMs from similar devices. See [2] for a list of such devices in the respective row for MSM7627A.
You can worry about this when you come to recovery. The first hurdle to get through is root, so have you proceeded to run an exploit?
Also, if you haven't done anything, I would suggest doing a factory reset and then backing up the entire ROM simply with the cat command [3]. The homemade unsigned backup may come in handy later as there is no official ROM update.

Not sure how to use these commands. It says that the phone needs to be rooted to use these.
I'm trying to install clockworkmod.

Sorry, yes, that needs root. You must do everything you can to get root on the phone, because whatever you do you must have a backup. For CWMR, you must back up your recovery partition, else if your CWMR image does not happen to be compatible with your device you risk losing recovery mode.
For MTK devices like the W10, there is a method for non-rooted phones to carry out the backup [1], but I'm not sure about Qualcomm. So in the end, root is unavoidable.
1. Just get zergrush binary from the SuperOneClick archive (it is in another folder along with psneuter).
2. Copy the zergrush binary to the ADB folder.
3. Open a cmd window in the ADB folder just as you would normally type adb commands, then:

i evem tried to use update.zip method but it says sd storage not found
how do i know if my bootloder is unlocked or locked
tried unlock root with driver installed it says failed to aquire root access\
in adb shell it shows $ sign and if i try to get root acess it says acess denied

Oh boy, it looks like the vulnerability has been patched in your version of Android. Either that, or there is some hardware peculiarity (buffer size being reported wrongly - that's also when this zergrush error comes up) which I do not yet know how to deal with. There is another exploit called 'tacoroot' but I do not prefer going that route as it's not as foolproof/universal as zergrush.
Update zips need to be signed. When your recovery tries to verify the signature it fails, as it is not the signature of the manufacturer that made the update.zip.
Have you guys tried ALL the rooting methods posted in the A5/A7 thread? In the meantime I'll take a look at how Qualcomm ROMs can be dumped.
edit: I'm pretty sure your device has a fastboot mode. If so, you can "hot" boot any cwmr image without flashing it using "fastboot boot theimage.img" as far as I can recall. Having fastboot is a blessing (which the MTK devices do not have) so follow the first few pages of the A7 thread.

Sorry, the W10 is my first ever experience with Android (I was looking for a cheap way to find out how the stuff works), and as it does not even have a bootloader mode I have no idea about fastboot. I have only been with this phone/Android for about a month, so there's still a lot more to learn.
But as far as I can tell "AP Fastboot" already implies that you are in fastboot mode. You need the fastboot drivers installed on your PC, and then when you are at the green screen the phone will accept fastboot commands. [1]
If you guys manage to do this, what I would suggest is hot-loading a Karbonn A7, Mobiistar S01 or any other potential compatible CWMR image, then immediately making a full ROM backup. You can then upload recovery.img and I'll see if I can port it, and after that boot.img so we can at least get you root adb shell if by then rooting is still a problem.
And btw, if it was not clear in my previous post, rooting using current "standard" methods is not going to work as the latest gingerbread vulnerability (which zergrush exploits and many of the tools use zergrush) has been patched since December 2011. Unfortunately, it looks like the build of 2.3.6 that the W25 has is from a period after that, so zergrush on the W25 is a no-go. If you want to try, just follow the adb steps above which was posted for ahmed.zunaid.

What is recovery​You can boot to recovery menu by holding volume- while booting your device. From recovery meny you can calibrate your touchscreen, wipe data and do this kind of stuff. Installing SDE creates new entry to recovery menu, called Special Developers Edition. There you can remove android kernel, flash new, export hdd and data. In recovery move up and down with volume + and -. Select by pressing power button
What is SDE and how to install it​SDE is shortened word from Special Developers Edition. After SDE is installed, your tablet is able to boot to official rom, recovery, and SDE rom. Most of the roms advice you to use "Remove android kernel" from SDE before you install kernel. When you remove your android kernel from there and install kernel from custom rom, your archos boots directly to custom rom. If you don't delete it, your device boots to official, but keeping volume - while booting gives you change to boot to SDE.
There are 3 guides how to install SDE. Official SDE watermarks your device for archos (there is no watermark on screen ), so they can detect you have installed SDE in some point. It stays even if you remove SDE. Official way is more safe. Also, it removes "only" software warranty. If your devices powerbutton, Usb-port or etc brokes, you can still send it to warranty. Then there is unofficial, a bit more dangerous method. It doesn't watermark your device, but is more complicated. Guide tells that it's outdated, but it worked for me. I used official 4.0.4 version while installing. Link to the guide. Big thanks to Shano56.

Now you have Rot version installed !

Install like Cyanogenmod and AOKP and others, but rename initramfs.cpio.gz to initramfs.cpio.lzo
How to install official rom​Download official 4.0.7 rom from here.
Now boot to recovery (hold volume- while booting) and choose update firmware.
Now there should be noew drive in your pc. Drop the downloaded firmware_archos_it4.aos to there and press ok in recovery. Keep usb plugged in while installing. It should take around 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Now choose ok again. your tablet should now reboot to stock rom.
4.0.24 Official is owrking on some devices, but because it won't work on all, i won't cover it here(yet)
How to multiboot android 4.0 based roms​Install modified initfram from this topic. Use the zimage from the rom you want to multiboot. AFAIK you can multiboot with following combos:
[email protected], Ubuntu (download newer kernel from later pages.), Root 4.0.7
and
AOKP, CyanogenMod 9.
You cant use [email protected] and AOKP because they do not use same kind of data. That means that after you have run first rom, the second will bootloop. That is also why it requires wiping data when changing from stock to aokp and vise versa.
Detailed:
Download dmenu-0.3a.zip, and extract initframfs to desktop. Then download [email protected] and stock 4.0.7 rooted. Extract Image files and zimage from either one of the roms. Now just instal like described in earlier section, while using initframfs from multiboot and kernel from other rom.

Trevd made a package to add 3G stick and extra Huawei modems work for AOKP and generally all ICS ROMs. This guy is awesome because he also made some Huawei modems work.

So what's missing? you may ask as this pretty much is everything that is needed by the Archos 3G Stick.
Standard Archos Roms use the UsbKeyManager.apk system service to start the switch_ms_to_3g and ril-daemon service's. I replace that with my own ueventd handling native service and add an additional to configuration file keep everything clean

Change symlinks/binds​Trevd wrote guide to let people know how to change binds. That way you can move large folders, like Gameloft games and navigator files to ExternalSD, saving InternalSD space.

The other, perhaps more straight forward method uses the bind argument on the mount to command to "mount an already visible filesystem elsewhere" .
In the example I'll bind the external sdcard to a directory in the internal storage
use the terminal emulator or adb once again to execute the following commands

mount --bind /mnt/sdcard /storage/sdcard
To make this more parmanent, I would probably create a wrapper shell script for the sdcard service to make sure it all gets started together, that's just my preference, As we say in trade ( or maybe it's a saying i've just made up :silly: ) ; "there's more than one way to mount a file system!"
In Summary: I would go with method 2 as this effectively achieves the desired effect off "symlinking" an external directory in the /storage

Installing ADB​ADB comes from word android development bridge, and it allows you to debug, move files and get shell access to your tablet.

Running adb from anywhere

Installing Supercharger​Supercharger is a multiscript which makes the tablet work much better. Its created by Zeppelinrox, and its official topic is here. We are using also script manager in this guide. That way we can make MinFrees and OOM apply.
In this guide we'll use Apex launcher which is moved to /system/app for our default launcher.
We are also using adb to configure and run Supercharger.
Because stock launcher is odexed and i am not writing how to deodex, we are not using it.
First make sure apex is your default launcher. This can be tested by pressing home button in homescreen.
If it show mini previews of your homescreens, apex is your default launcher.
Now lets begin:
go to here and download newest file. At
the time of writing, it is Update 9_RC11_test6. Move it to your adb folder.
Then open commandline. This can be opened with windowskey + R and writing cmd. Navigate
to adb folder using cd command. I have made adb to run from anywhere, so i just navigate to the downloaded file.
Now use command "adb push v6* /mnt/sdcard" then use command "adb shell". Now you should have
shell access to your tablet. Now do following
su
cd /mnt/sdcard
sh V6* /remember capital V)
Supercharger script should open now. After presentation, script should print after telling your busybox version
"com.anddoes.launcher is the home launcher!" Now continue install. Supercharger will tell you everything you need to know.
So just follow the instructions. After choosing kernel tweak, you get bunch of permission denieds.
We can't help them, so lets just continue.I recommend on using all the tweaks that you can,
but it is your choise do you want to use or not. After all the selections are selected and your in
driver panel, choose number 32. It'll reboot your tablet and wipe dalvik. When the tablet has booted, lets run supercharger script again.
So write these again:
su
cd /mnt/sdcard
sh V6_Super*
After getting to drivers panel, you notice that minfrees are not in effect, and neither is OOM Grouping Fix BUT if they are, you can ignore this step..
Install script manager from market and open it. Give it root permissions and navigate to /system/etc/init.d
press SS99SuperCharger to open its settings. Now press the Su button and then Boot button.
Now press save, and then click it's name which appers to right. Then press back button and reboot.
Now Minfrees should work, and OOM too.
Now you can run 22 if you want to try it. Supercharger is now fully working.

It is very useful for running gameloft games and other games too. I recommend buying it. There are some plugin for it, but i'm not going to tell you about it now.Play store link.
After downloading it, open it and choose "Chainfire3D Driver" and from there "install". Then confirm it and tablet should reboot. Now reopen it and choose "Default opengl setting". From there you can tweak 3D performance if some games lag. Also, if you install plugin, there you can apply them. I personally use "reduce texture quality".
But why?​
This section is to point few reason why to follow these guides. Lets begin:
SDE
Well, you should install this if you want to customize your tablet. If your happy with your tablet running stock, you don't need this, or any other guides.
Custom roms/kernels
Custom roms allow you to use root, they make your tablet faster and add extra functionality. This "functionality" includes: Overclock, run init.d scripts, enable both cores with all governors, root and themes. The benefits are not limited to these, but I could name this quickly. If you wan't to try something which is close to stock, but still has root and some custom functionalities, i would recommend deodexed 4.0.7, or [email protected]
Install official roms
These roms do not require SDE, but will not include root or anything fun . Updating your official rom has many benefits. They include fixes and boost your tablets performance.
Multiboot
Multibooting allows you to have 2 or more roms, which you can choose which to boot on startup. I would recommend this if you want to test functions with root, but still have "backup plan" if testing rom renders unbootable.
3G support
Basicly this allowes some extra huawei 3G sticks to work. There is no list of working stick, you just have to try and hope.
Change symlinks/binds
These allow you to "move" eg. gameloft games to external sd, and allow you to acces your externalsd via internalsd folder.. That way your gamedata does not eat the valuable internalsd space.
ADB
You need this to transfer rom to your tablet. It is also required when you sent logcat reports to help remove bugs.
SuperCharger
This makes your tablet work more fluid. I personally install supercharger to all my android devices. It removes need for task killer, and makes the device work better. Everyone has different results, and it costs only time to install, so i would recommend installing it.
Chainfire3D
This tool allows you to play games made for other GPUs and it can tweak application graphics. You can make the game look worse, but run better or adjust the grphics for a bit higher, so the game looks nicer.

No! Archos recovery cannot read ZIP files. You must first EXTRACT, then copy the contents of the extracted folder. NOT the folder itself. If you get stuck in a boot loop because you forgot to extract archos.update.ext4 or drive.zip, you must follow the instructions below.
Help! I am stuck in a bootloop! Archos splash screen appears and keeps rebooting. I messed up when I was rooting, and now android will not boot! I accidentally formatted my device, and now I cannot boot into android.
This is a simple mistake and in 99% of cases it is easy to fix. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Download official Archos G9 firmware for ALL G9 tablets (aos file) HERE
Step 2: Boot into recovery turning your device off and then holding volume down + power at the same time
Step 3: Choose "Update Firmware"
Step 4: Connect USB cable to computer and tablet
Step 5: A removable device should appear (RAMDISK), copy the file you just download straight to that drive
Step 6: Press the power button once the file is done copying. DO NOT UNPLUG your device until it has finished updating and has booted back into android.
If you did not format your tablet or delete any personal media, your files should be uneffected.
Will I lose SDE menu if I update my tablet with official AOS or OTA update
As of the latest update (4.0.6) no official update from Archos has removed SDE menu. You should be fine, and your SDE menu should remain untouched.

You have been busy! Thanks for kind words, Just an heads up really, you might want to update your post as I deleted the usb-modem-binary-redist github repo yesterday as it was a bit too clever for it's own good and I think a bit of abuse/misuse of the concept branching! Just because you can, doesn't always mean you should LOL, with that in mind I'd probably advise against linking to my github repos as they don't stay static for very long. I generally leave the hotfile links up "forever" so link away with them.
The Information and files included in the new AOKP post about 3G Dongles should be good across all ICS roms. Thanks for the feedback.
I removed the part which had github link, and modified the AOKP section to tell it works with all ICS ROMs.
I'll included your mini guide. I might even have some use for it myself...

There is a high chance that touchscreen will not work if you have 101 G9 model in Ubuntu. You can still use USB OTG devices like mouse normally.

thank you for answered. j've already managed to install ubuntu and I had no problem touch by cons I Can not get a dual boot ubuntu and bleuv03 ics. I shall therefore understands the multi boot flash I then I put two images but in the memory of the tablet and then I flash the kernel you gave me quote above and I should be able to boot on 2 rom and bleuv03 ubuntu?

Yes, you must use adb. I assume your "untoot" means unrooted. You use cd command to navigate to your adb folder and from there to platform-tools. Also drop archos.ext4.update to there. Then use the adb command to move the file. Moving file to that location does not require root.

Hi Surdu,
I tried to update after SDE install and then accidentally dont know what happened have lost android on my tablet G9 101 HD. I cant see my hd on pc and is not booting but only can see the rom image which appears on boot without animation. How can I transfer the update archos.ext4 into Internal Storage without seeing the drive on PC win 7. I have made mistake in steps may be.
Please help.

Go to the recovery menu, choose update firmware. When it prompts you to connect tablet to pc, cobbect it, but to different usb port than last time. That should cause the pc to reinstall usb drivers for the tablet.

Thanks, for so fast reply Dear...
I did the same as you advised and a drive with name ending with "REC" with a capacity of 299 MB appeared. I tried to copy the Surdu's Deoedex update but it has more weight in MBS about 390. So it could not. I tried original Archos ROM with weight of 186 MB and it copied. Started update but returned with an error "Update failed: (221)".....
Please advise.
Note: I also tried in SDE menu to export data drive and got a drive 1.48 GB which I formated from win 7 and succeded in copying Stock and Surdu's ROMs one by one but always failed to get android and it always say failed update. Still get unanimated Archos logo on startup with no further bootup.

Okay... So you have sde installed? Good. First, let's get the official firmware working. Download the latest official ROM from archos:
http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/gen9_4.0.26/firmware_archos_it4.aos
Drop this to the 300mb partition called REC. Then press power and let it install.
Now follow the install guide o. The ROM you want to install

Thanks Julle..But Now I understand that official ROM is not installing because of unofficial kernel flash I have already installed and had flushed original one. I think if I get original kernel then I can arrive to original Android ICS which you have mentioned. Please advise if you have any address of original kernel for "firmware_archos_it4.aos".

To install the update I linked, you shouldn't need any kernel changes. Removing kernel from SDE removes the official kernel, but that does not prevent installing official update. Also installing custom kernel will not prevent installing official rom.
I just do not understand why you get the 221 error as most of the people get it when that have incorrect file there or already have newer stock ROM installed. It is possible that your windows format broke it, because windows formats it to wrong format. You should never format any other than sdcards in windows. You could try the format system in recovery and choosing reformat device. After that install the official update I linked.

1. INSTALLING GALAXY NOTE2 DRIVERS
The first thing you need to do is to install the drivers. These are needed so that you can communicate with the phone via the PC and perform the tasks that the ToolKit offers.
NOTE: If you have Kies installed then it is advisable to uninstall it first to avoid conflicts.
a. Make sure your phone is booted into Android and the USB cable is unplugged.
b. Select Option 1 in the ToolKit to install the Samsung USB Driver pack. This should install all the neccessary drivers you need.
C. While the drivers are installing make sure that USB Debugging is enabled on your phone via the Settings, Developer options Screen.
d. After the drivers have been installed connect the USB cable and the PC should detect the phone and install the correct drivers. This will also happen when you enter Download Mode and Recovery Mode for the first time.
e. If you want to check the drivers then go to your Control Panel on your PC and open the Device Manager. With the USB cable connected you should see a device listed as 'Samsung Android Phone' or something similar and a driver attached to it.
NOTE: If you are having trouble with your device being detected or the drivers installing correctly then you could try rebooting your phone, using a different usb port and making sure no other drivers are installed on your pc.

2. USING MSKIPS' SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE2 TOOLKIT
a. Download the Samsung Galaxy Note2 ToolKit package and run to install the ToolKit to your PC. The installation will also create a Shortcut on your desktop for easy access. You have the option to include or exclude the drivers files at installation so if you already have your drivers set up and are just updating the ToolKit then you can untick the drivers if you wish.
b. Once the ToolKit is installed make sure your phone is booted and plugged in via USB cable and double click on the shortcut on your desktop to run it.
c. You will be asked if you want to check for an Update. If you type 'yes' this will download and check the latest version numbers against the versions in the ToolKit. If there is an update available then you will have the option to download and install it (professional feature).
d. You will now be presented with a Model Selection Screen to choose the Model/Build that you are currently on. Type the number that corresponds to your desired selection. For example type '12' for INTERNATIONAL GSM MODEL [GT-N7100] 4.1.1 [Build ALJ1-ALJ3]. If you cannot find the build your device is using then type 'h' to select the HELP option to get more info.
NOTE: If you have a new build that isnt covered by the Toolkit you can also type 'a' in the Model Selection screen to see instructions on how to pull your stock image and send it to [email protected] so support can be added.
e. The Toolkit will now locate and download the boot image pack for your chosen Model. This is a new feature so the Toolkit is not limited to how many Models can be added and it cuts down ALOT on the download size. After the zip file has finished downloading it will be extracted to the correct folders and the files checked to make sure everything is ok.
f. When you enter the Main Menu you will see 'Adb Mode' at the top. If you have installed your drivers correctly then you will see your devices serial number under the text with 'device' next to it. If you see this then your device is connected and you can carry on.
NOTE: If you haven't installed the drivers and don't see a serial number at the top then this is the FIRST thing you want to do so the Toolkit can operate properly.
g. Each option in the ToolKit has full information on what it is and how to use it.

3. FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA CWM RECOVERY
a. Download your chosen Rom, Radio or Kernel from the Development Forum, then make sure your phone is booted up as normal and connect your usb cable so it goes into MTP Mode. Copy the .zip file (DO NOT UNZIP IT FIRST) to the 'Internal Storage' part on your phone. Do not copy it to a Sub Directory as it will be harder to find when flashing it.
b. Enter CWM Recovery (shut down the phone then hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds).
c. Select 'Install zip from sdcard' and select 'choose zip from sdcard' if the file is on Internal Memory.
d. Scroll to your zip file and select. Then select 'Yes' in the list to start flashing.
e. When flashing is finished press the BACK Button to go back until you get to the Main Menu and then select 'reboot system now' to reboot your phone into Android.

4. FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA DOWNLOAD MODE USING ODIN
Odin can be used to flash image files or parts of your phone. You can flash something as simple as a boot image or a complete system. Everything is packed in a tar or tar.md5 file on your PC and flashed via Odin which is a Windows OS program.
a. Make sure you have your tar file stored on your PC.
b. Reboot your phone to Download Mode [shut down your phone, then hold down the Home + Volume DOWN Buttons and press the Power Button for about 2 seconds until a Warning screen appears. Press Volume UP to continue to Download Mode.
c. Connect your phone via usb and the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and have some text in it. If you are using Download Mode on your phone for the first time then you will notice drivers being installed to use it.
d. The site or page you downloaded the file from will usually give you instructions to set Odin but if not you want to load boot/recovery/system files to the PDA location and have 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' ticked and nothing else.
e. Click on 'Start' to start the flash. You can see what is happening in the text box in the lower left.

2. Shut down the phone.
3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.

Q. What is ADB Shell?
Adb shell is a linux command line tool (because android is based on linux) used to send commands to your android device. For S-ON devices, this is crucial for modifying files in the /system partition (where the rom sits) as you cannot modify anything in /system when the rom is running without S-OFF (e.g removing system apps).
From Google:
Android Debug Bridge (adb) is a versatile tool lets you manage the state of an emulator instance or Android-powered device. It is a client-server program that includes three components:
A client, which runs on your development machine. You can invoke a client from a shell by issuing an adb command. Other Android tools such as the ADT plugin and DDMS also create adb clients.
A server, which runs as a background process on your development machine. The server manages communication between the client and the adb daemon running on an emulator or device.
A daemon, which runs as a background process on each emulator or device instance.

Q. I flashed CWM but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on Android that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from the Market). Delete the file recovery-from-boot.p from /system. Now when you flash CWM Recovery it will NOT be overwritten after a reboot. You can also use the Toolkit to rename the files if you wish.

Q. What is the difference between Nandroid and Titanium backup?
A NANDROID will backup the whole system including boot, system, data and recovery partitions so you can restore a complete rom and all data and settings.
Essentially Titanium Backup is used to backup apps and associated user data. These could be restored AFTER a full wipe and a new Rom had been flashed on your phone.
The other option now which google added into the new adb command list is the adb backup which is in the ToolKit and can do the same job as Titanium Backup but will store the data on your PC rather than on the phone (where it takes up space and could be deleted).

Q. When would i perform a nandroid vs a titanium backup?
You would perform a nandroid backup to back up your entire system including boot image and data and system partitions so you can restore your entire system back to that particular point in the future.
You would use Titanium Backup mainly to back up your installed apps and settings so they could be reinstalled easily and quickly on any future roms. You can also choose individual apps to backup or restore on Titanium Backup whereas if you restore your boot partition via CWM Recovery you are stuck with the whole lot.

Q. When I try to open the ToolKit I get a box pop up for a split second and then it goes away. My AntiVirus program says the file may be harmful.
The exe files I compiled are not digitally signed with a Microsoft certificate (as they cost money) so certain AntiVirus programs (mainly Norton and AVG Free) will pick it up as potentially harmful when it is not. They pick up ANY file that doesnt contain a purchased Microsoft certificate in the same way. Restore the deleted file and exclude it from further scans and it will be fine.

Q. I have Windows 8 and cannot install the drivers
How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
When your computer restarts, select ‘Disable driver signature enforcement‘ from the list. You can now load your modified driver. Reboot again once the driver is installed and all will be well.

Q. I flashed the Stock Firmware Image. Odin flashes the file successfully and the phone reboots but it stays stuck on the samsung logo
If the firmware tar file does not include a userdata image (which most Samsung firmware do not) then your userdata partition will be left from your previous setup. If this is incompatible with the new firmware because of build or something else then your system will freeze on boot up.
This is easily fixable by holding the Volume UP, Home and Power buttons all at the same time for about 10 seconds until the device reboots to the Stock Recovery screen. Use the Volume Down button to scroll down to 'wipe data/factory reset' and press the Home button to select it. Go down to yes to confirm and your userdata partition will be wiped. Your device should now boot fine.

Well I keep asking for someone with adb root access to do an adb shell mount and send me the mount points so I can verify the partitions but noone is getting back to me.
If you or anyone else can send me the mount points then please do so asap. The unroot zip file will remove the su and superuser files along with busybox and cwm manager (if present) but it needs the correct system partition value to mount the system and run the script.

I am getting issues with both TWRP and CWM. With TWRP, the data partition is unable to mount, making a full wipe a no go. With CWM, data partition can mount...but the external sd can't. Anyone else having these issues, or is it something on my end?

I can use my extSD with CWM so it's something on your end. I used the toolkit for the N7100 but same stuff...

[TUTORIAL]How to setup SP_Flash_Tool_Linux (MTK/MediaTek Soc)

This works only on Linux 64-bit
DISCLAIMER: It is always risky to flash your mobile device. I do not and will not take any responsibility for bootloops and bricks.
Please check carefully that the ROM or recovery.img you want to flash is suitable for your specific device and for the sp_flash_tool. The firmware directory should neither contain meta-inf nor system folder, but something_with_a_scatter.txt and a system.img
Backup your phone before flashing!
Your phone's battery should be at least half charged (50 percent) before you start this.
I successfully ran these steps on my UMI Hammer with Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04. I do not have other devices or Linux derivates and do not plan to buy/install any.

Also many thanks to N2K1 for giving me some more background information!
So here we go:
Step 1:
If you haven't done so before, install the Linux generic usb-drivers package:

Download SP Flash Tool Linux (latest version): http://mtk2000.ucoz.ru/load/soft/soft_mtk/sp_flash_tool/5-1-0-14 (Password to extract currently is mtk2000v3)
or here https://androidmtk.com/smart-phone-flash-tool
In case you haven't done before, install unrar:

Extract the downloaded file -> graphic file manager (e.g. Nautilus): double-click and extract. Terminal:

(from now on: please adapt paths to your own settings)
Move the new folder „sp_flash_tool“ to a directory of your choice.

mv /home/username/Downloads/sp_flash_tool /home/username/...
You might also need to install libqtwebkit4 (it just happened to me on Linux Ubuntu 16.04):

These libraries are still required for the flash tool but have been removed from new Ubuntu versions.

Step 2:
Change into the newly created directory:

In order to avoid running the flash_tool as root user, you need to add a standard user to the usergroup "dialout" (thanks to @egalus for this bit!)

Step 3:
Now you can open the tool:

or double-click on the flash_tool icon.
You can try at this stage if the flash tool connects to your phone:
In the user interface, choose tab „Download“. Hit "scatter-loading", navigate to a directory with a valid firmware for your device and choose the scatter-file.
For testing purposes uncheck "name" and check one of the smaller files in the list below (for example "logo")
Switch off your device. Hit the "Download" button in SP_Flash_Tool and connect your phone to the computer. Some devices require you to take off the battery for about 10 seconds, with others you need to press Vol+ or Vol- while plugging the cable into the phone. Please look up device-specific threads and try out different options.
If nothing happens at all, open a second terminal, run

and look out for a MediaTek entry. If there is none → did you install libusb-dev (Step 1?)
If the answer is yes, you might need to create a persistent udev rule for the MTK Preloader:

sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/80-persistent-usb.rules
Add the following line to the file:

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ACTION=="add", ATTR{idVendor}=="0e8d", ATTR{idProduct}=="*"
Save the file and exit.
Reload the usb-rules:

sudo service udev restart
Disconnect the usb data cable from the computer and the smartphone. Close the flash tool. Switch on your phone (fastboot mode will do). Repeat the first paragraph of Step 3.
If the tool connects, within a few seconds a red progress bar will appear. Unfortunately, in my case an error message came along with it:
S_BROM_CMD_JUMP_DA_FAIL (2035)
There is a connection, but also one more obstacle to overcome...
Step 4:
Now we come to the interesting part, which cost me 2 weeks of (futile) research and frustration. Finally I found Sergio Riveros tutorial on mibqyyo. Thanks to him again and again and again for this priceless piece of information
The “modemmanager” package integrated by default within Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and later is not compatible with the MTK Flash Tool for Linux

To put it in different words: The modem manager controls port /dev/ttyACM0 and disables the Flash Tool. So we blacklist it for the two MTK vendor IDs the flash tool uses:

You insert these two lines:

Save the file, exit and restart udev:

change the download agent to MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin (screenshot #4)
There are plenty of tutorials on the web for the further steps.
Happy flashing! When a green circle with a white checkmark appears, you are done. You can close the flash tool and disconnect your phone. For a clean start with a new ROM boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset.
Kudos for the udev rules, I finally managed to root my phone and disable some vendor crap thanks to you!

I have Arch Linux, successfully ported over this tutorial, but I had no idea the modemmanager package was causing the issue. SP Flash Tool was the last frontier for using my Android devices on Linux. But I would like to suggest two corrections:
1) The mv command is unnecessary. you don't have to copy the folder to the root directory to run it as root.
2) Please also add a final step to delete the udev rules so as to re-enable the modem manager after rooting.
Though most of the people who would be reading your thread would be knowledgeable linux users, they won't need these suggestions, but anyways, it would make your guide complete.

Where did you get the scatter file? Generally this error code means that the partition table is different to the one on your device. This should only be the case - occasionally - if you flash a complete firmware.

scatter is from my stock rom. Same i used to flash.

SP_Flash_Tool_Linux_v5.1452.00.100 tested, same problem.
SP_Flash_Tool_Linux_v5.1436.00.100 also tested and same.
No older versions found
The version v5.1504.00.100 works on my 64-bit-system, too... But the error seems to be caused by something else. Have you checked the SP logfile?
Have you also tried the newest version? I just involuntarily re-flashed my UMI Hammer with it... Wanted to choose the twrp only, but too much multi-tasking leads to no good

Working method to root the LG G4S (Model H735 / "LG G4 Beat")

Root your LG G4S (Model H735)
Tested on Andriod 5.1.1.
Thanks goes to @konsolen for sharing the method to open up the port (see appendix in this post) and to @dominik-p for his guide to determine dd parameters (you won't need this to root with the method described, but you can back up your phone if you're worried). And most importantly, thanks to the author of SuperSU for his excellent script updater-binary which worked pretty much out of the box, with only a few workarounds needed (which is what the instructions below do).
First, a few general notes:
The supersu.zip included in this package is version 2.46.
SuperSU can be downloaded here: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
If you want to use a new version, just put the zip file in this directory and rename it to "supersu.zip" (delete the old one in this package first of course).
The busybox binary in this package was used successfully to unzip in the LG G4s H735 (Android 5.1.1).
Some time it should maybe be ensured that this is the newest version. Same holds for Send_Command.exe and adb.exe (and attached libraries).
This script uses the "update-binary" script of the SuperSU package to install it on your phone.
The scripts I attached prepare for it to be called (hopefully) successfully.
Instructions to root
Preparation
You MAY want to create a backup of your system beforehand, in case things go wrong.
This is optional, so if you don't want to do this, you may still rely on the .kdz file (see Appendix below) to restore your phone if things go wrong.
You need to calculate the dd parameters and then backup your system partition into a .img file.
There is an excellent guide by @dominik-p for how to determine your individual dd parameters:

your system if something goes wrong.
Enabling developer options and getting the tools
First, enable developer / debugging mode on your phone:
Navigate to Settings > About Phone > scroll to the bottom > tap Build number seven (7) times.
You'll get a short pop-up in the lower area of your display saying that you're now a developer.
Then, go back and now access the Developer options menu, check 'USB debugging' and click OK on the prompt.
Note: You have to enable USB debugging before plugging your device in to the computer. Unplug device then try to enable USB debugging.
On your computer, install Install and Use ADB (the Android Debug Bridge Utility). Also, download LG Flash Tool.
You can find out how to do both by searching google for it.
Step 1.
Connect your phone via USB (not in download mode yet, just normal).
Then, run Init_Root.bat in order to copy the essential files over to internal storage.
You may do this either by 1) double clicking the file, or 2) executing it from the windows command line.
For Option 2): Open a command line in the folder where you extracted this package. To do this, hold shift while right clicking in the folder opened in the Windows Explorer and select "Open command window here". Then, type
Init_Root.bat
Step 2.
Reboot your phone in download mode and ensure it has opened the port to send commands in download mode.
The port is open if it's displayed on the phone's screen in green letters, like
COMX
(with a number instead of X).
On my LG H735 it was necessary to use "LG Flash Tool 2014" http://lgflashtool.com/ to open the port. So if you don't have the green letters, see instruction pasted below (appendix) on how to open the port.
Step 3.
Open a command line in the folder where you extracted this package. To do this, hold shift while
right clicking in the folder opened in the Windows Explorer and select "Open command window here".
Open a command shell to your phone by typing (replace X with the number displayed on your phone) by typing:
Send_Command \\.\COMX
You should be set to root if the following works:
Typing "ls" returns a long list of file and folder names.
Typing "id" should give you someting like that:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) context=u:r:recovery:s0
The important bits are the "(root)" uid and gid.
If any of the above is not the case, it will not work, you may search for help in the forum.
Step 4.
Execute the commands below (without the numbering of course).
1. mv /data/local/tmp/busybox /sbin/busybox
2. chmod 755 /sbin/busybox
3. mkdir /tmp
4. mkdir /tmp/supersu
5. /sbin/busybox unzip /data/local/tmp/supersu.zip -d /tmp/supersu
6. mv /data/local/tmp/supersu.zip /tmp/supersu/
7. sh /tmp/supersu/META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary dummy 1 /tmp/supersu/supersu.zip
(Note: Not all commands above may be needed, but this is the conservative approach)
Recommended:
Do sanity checks to see if it's doing its job as expected.
After command 2, type the command ls -l /sbin/busybox to check for sanity.
It must return a line like this (with your own date and time):
-rwxr-xr-x shell shell 1048328 <date> <time> busybox
Command 5 must print several lines containing "inflating" messages, similar to this:
Archive:
inflating: META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
...
Command 7 prints lines like this, and other status messages afterwards:

Step 5.
Your phone should now be rooted if it all worked ok.
You may now type
LEAVE
to reboot your phone.

Troubleshooting
If it doesn't work, for example you phone may be stuck on the boot process displaying the LG logo, then you can use Flash Tool to restore your phone. Use instructions below (how to boot the phone into download mode), but don't pull the USB cable, and just let it run its course. This should restore your phone.
If for some reason this hasn't worked, you may try to "dd" back your system .img which you may have created in the preparation step.
Appendix
How to boot the phone into download mode and open the port
a) Boot the LG G4s in download mode. To do this, first switch it off completely and disconnect USB cable. Then, hold the Volume Up button, and while you keep holding it, plug in the USB cable.
b) Start the LG Flash tool and load the .kdz for your phone. We won't actually complete the flashing, you only need it to start the process, but you should use the kdz for your phone nonetheless.
You can check for your kdz on this link, pasting your IMEI instead of YOUR-IMEI in the link below.

c) Now this is very important: Watch your phone while the .kdz is being flashed by the flash tool.
(the flash tool may complain about error connecting to the update server, but you can ignore this with "ok").
As soon as the green letters show up, UNPLUG THE USB CABLE!
The percentage on your phone has to be 0% still (never mind about percentage in the flash tool, it may not even display it).
Then, kill the Flash Tool with the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+alt+delete).
When it's closed, you can plug your phone back in.
It's now in download mode with open port.

If it has done that, reboot your phone and you should be set.
If not, do the commands manually as in Option 2.

Backup problems
Hello,
Coming from a Nexus 4, I bought a G4S last month.
I want to do my first root in order to manage the storage, like jen.magnolis talked about.
In case of a problem (bootloop or brick), I need to be able to restore. I don't really mind about restoring my datas, a factory reset would be enough.
But I don't undestand how i can get the system.img without being rooted ? It seems that I can get a "backup.ab" file using adb. Will it be enough to restore in case of brick ?
I also looked about kdz files, but mine doesn't seem to be available. I have a LGH735 (buyer = FRA, suffix = AFRATS, ...). Will it work if I use the one you provided in your post ?

I just cant find my .kdz file! The phone i want to root its a G4 H735AR, im wondering if there are some compatible .kdz that i can use. Im affraid it might get bricked or something...
BTW i¨ve tried the rootworm.bat method and it didnt work. And when i try to open the COMX port, the lg flash tool always crushes and shuts down.

So, i made it! It works in the H735AR!! The problem with the flash tool was that i was trying to use it without any KDZ file!! I've used @konsolen .kdz and achieved to open ports, and then continue with the rest of the tutorial without trouble.
Thank you so much! Its a great phone, but with so little internal memory is a waste.

ya u just update thru lg bridge.. once updated it will be unroot tho so u have to root it back same method as u did before.. and if you use link2sd it dosent matter after root ur link2sd can just reboot and re-read ur partition without needing to wipe and re-partition

Galera do Brasil, consegui rootear o LG G4 Beat usando esse tutorial porém tive que baixar o arquivo kdz pro H736P pra executar o LG Flash Tool. Cuidado ao usar o LG Flash Tool, assim que aparecer a porta COM na tela do telefone, arranca o cabo USB do computador.

Note: While I use a variety of operating systems on a regular basis everything here will be Windows 10 focused.
ADB & Fastboot
Before doing most things mentioned below you will need "adb" and "fastboot" installed. Two of your options are to install the Android SDK Tools or the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool. If you are somewhat new to this I highly recommend the second one. Go here, download the latest version (1.3.1 as of this writing), and install it. When setup is complete you should have an icon for the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool.
Note: I highly recommend you add "C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot" to your PATH variable in Windows. This way you can open a Command Prompt anywhere and use adb or fastboot.
Drivers
I recently setup a 5th gen Kindle Fire 7" tablet on my Windows 10 desktop. Because the BLU Life One X 2016 and the Kindle Fire are similar enough it just worked. To use the Amazon drivers you can find them on this page: https://developer.amazon.com/public...etting-up-your-kindle-fire-tablet-for-testing. The direct link is https://s3.amazonaws.com/android-sdk-manager/redist/kindle_fire_usb_driver.zip. Extract the zip file and then run KindleDrivers.exe.
Unlock Bootloader, Install Custom Recovery, and Install Root
Note #1: All credit for this guide goes to manos78's post for rooting the Wiko Fever!!! You can check it out here.
Note #2: I use Windows 10 on every PC I own. I assume Windows 7 and 8 should work just fine but cannot test that.
Note #3: The following assumes you have setup ADB and the proper drivers before beginning. I will try to detail that at a future time.
Note #4: Your phone will be completely erased. If there is anything you want to save do so beforehand.
1) Unlock Bootloader
Power on the phone and skip through all of the setup options
Go to Settings -> About device
Tap Build number five times to enable Developer options
Go to Settings -> Developer options
Enable OEM unlocking
Enable USB debugging
Plug the phone in to your PC and authorize it
Open a Command Prompt
Type adb reboot-bootloader
The phone should reboot and in a very tiny font at the bottom you should see => FASTBOOT mode
Type fastboot devices to verify that your PC sees it correctly
Type fastboot oem unlock
Press Volume Up to say Yes and wait for this to finish
Type fastboot getvar all and look for (bootloader) unlocked: yes
Type fastboot reboot
You should see your phone reboot a couple times as it erases the phone
2) Install Custom Recovery
Note #1: We will flash a version of CWM or TWRP that was built for a Wiko Fever as they appear to be fully compatible with the BLU Life One X 2016. Go to this thread and download the latest CWM (http://www.sendspace.com/file/4g87bj) or TWRP (http://www.sendspace.com/file/y4jel8). Extract the img file. Again, many thanks to manos78 for CWM and hanuma for TWRP!!!
Power on the phone
You can configure your phone now or just skip through all of the setup options and do that later
Go to Settings -> About device
Tap Build number five times to enable Developer options
Go to Settings -> Developer options
Enable OEM unlocking
Enable USB debugging
Plug the phone in to your PC and authorize it
Open a Command Prompt to wherever you extracted the .img file
Type adb reboot-bootloader

Note: If your phone does not reboot then just hold the power button until it turns off. Hold the power button again until it turns back on.
3) Install Root
Note: While there are newer beta versions of the SuperSU app I am not sure if they will work properly on our stock rom. You can test one of those out and report back but I would recommend you do a full backup beforehand.
Download BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip and save it to the phone's internal memory or an inserted microSD card
Plug the phone in to your PC
Open a Command Prompt
Type adb reboot recovery
You should now be in CWM. Go to Install zip, find BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip, and install it
When it finishes go to Go Back -> Reboot Phone -> No
Once the phone boots up launch SuperSU and configure it as you like
Xposed
Download the latest version of Xposed for sdk22 and arm64 from here. As of this writing it is xposed-v79-sdk22-arm64.zip. Also download XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk and xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm64.zip (just in case).
Reboot into CWM or TWRP and do a full backup
Install xposed-v79-sdk22-arm64.zip and then reboot
Cross your fingers and hopefully your phone will start properly. Mine rebooted like five times during the "Android is starting" step but finally finished.
Once your phone boots up install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
ViPER4Android
ViPER4Android adds audio effects to your Android device and is beloved by many. First we will install SELinuxModeChanger and then ViPER4Android. Special thanks to Tha Watcher for his original write-up here.
1) SELinuxModeChanger
Go to the SELinuxModeChanger page on F-Droid, download the latest version (3.2 as of this writing) or use this direct link, and save it to your Desktop
Launch Minimal ADB and Fastboot and type adb install %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\com.mrbimc.selinux_42.apk
On the phone you may see a prompt saying Installation Blocked. If so, click the little triangle and tap Install anyway (unsafe). If you see a failure just do it again and it should work.
Launch the SELinuxModeChanger app on your phone, grant it root permissions, and click Permissive
Note: If you have any issues with SELinuxModeChanger then head over to the XDA thread.
2) ViPER4Android
Download the latest version in zip format from here and extract ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk to your Desktop
Launch Minimal ADB and Fastboot and type adb install %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk
Launch the ViPER4Android app on your phone, click Yes when prompted, click Super Audio Quality, and then click OK
Grant root access when prompted
Click OK
Reboot your phone
Note: Once your phone reboots you can start configuring ViPER4Android. I cannot really help much with that but feel free to look over the official XDA thread or their Settings Explained page on the official website.

Have you tried porting the Elephone rom for the Blu? They both have a MT6753, so from what I understand from reading on XDA it might work. You might need to make changes suggested at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701283.

Did this last night on my phone. Most difficult part for myself was finding the correct drivers as this is my first mediatek device. Ended up being my fifth attempt that had the correct set.
After I had the drivers it was extremely similar to a nexus process.

I must inform you that I am still running good ol' Windows 7 so there's that.
All credit on my end comes from [Tutorial] Flash/Root/update elephone P8000 by vetkak and the first step with the link. Its not a real link, but a copy and past of the mega.co link had the proper drivers.
If you're on Windows 10 there is a separate thread out there somewhere with instructions for that.

I feel like it needs mention that after flashing the recovery (I used the TWRP flavor) that after the fastboot command you need to immediately power off the phone, instead of rebooting, then do the volume up + power button press to get to the custom recovery.

Unfortunately the guy that was bringing up the elephone p8000 has sold it and subsequently not be supporting it any longer. I'm happy enough there is custom recovery options and root. An AOSP ROM would be nice, but naturally the custom gestures would be lost.

I did but from the original Wiko Fever thread instructions. I did this a couple of weeks before he actually posted this thread and I made my own instructions that I think are clearer and more concise than the Wiko thread; however, rogersa2k's guide is pretty thorough and easy to understand besides the following correction....
The fastboot reboot after flashing the custom recovery doesn't yield the same results, because when I did that it did NOT work! I corrected it by help from a comment by member yrude (and as hottcakes mentions above) and made my own instructions with the addition of adding the installation for Viper4Android. But I hesitate to post it on XDA as I don't want to step on any toes. However, I did post it on Google+, Amazon and GSMarena. If people want this alternate guide and notify me to post it, then I will. Otherwise, I'll keep it off XDA.

Pls post yours here. I saw your Amazon comment and tried to follow it. Everything seemed to work till I run "fastboot oem unlock" then the PC just displays "Waiting for device response...." and my BLOX never showed any response on screen. I suspected that I did not have the driver for this particular type cellphone device. Thanks,

I appreciate that but the only way I'd post it in this thread is if the OP says it's fine. I do not like hijacking or taking over other people's threads.
It sounds like ADB is actually not loaded or working on your computer or otherwise you wouldn't get that message. I could be wrong, though. To test to see if it is indeed working and drivers are properly loaded, what does it respond when you type: adb devices

Not yet, but I do plan to try to start with that. It's nice that Elephone released the source code for the P8000 so that could help as well. If I ever get to this I will need lots of help.

I will add a note about that but some of us had issues so I chose the alternate method that has worked for me the first time every time.
