My wife and I were having dinner in Chelsea last night and came across a Samsung Galaxy S3 tent on the corner of Little West 12th Street and 9th Avenue. One of the attendants called us over, informing us that we can win free GS3s and other prizes. Both my wife and I have GS3s, and the attendant asked us to pick out two blue plastic chips from a bowl designated for VIPs (current Samsung owners). The chips had NFC tags on them, which the attendant scanned with one of the GS3 demo models. Both my wife and I won $50 AMEX gift cards. Two other people won GS3s.
If any of you are in the area, take a walk over and try your luck!

No clue if the phones were unlocked or not. I was thrilled to death about winning the gift cards ($100 is a decent chunk of change), so the thought to ask about the phones didn't even cross my mind. It's always possible that the winners were given a choice of carrier.
That is pretty cool to just get a 100 bucks. It's crazy how much they have marketed this phone and also how popular the galaxy series has become.

They have a similar set-up in Madison Square Park (south side, west of the Shake Shack). I only won a $20 AMC gift card, which buys me 1.5 movie tickets in NYC

I checked one of these out here in a mall in the Dallas, Tx area. Scanned one of the tags with my S3 and won a white one!!! I thought it was a lie but now i have my original red and a brand bew white one!!!! Thanks for the heads on the info dude.

Have seen no indications so far that it's available anywhere (other than from importers like Expansys, etc.) either on pre-order or off the shelf. If VzW (or their resellers) have a surprise rollout planned for today or Monday, it's been the best-kept secret in the past 25 years.

Just a warning to the OP, guys in Broadway and Fortress are really 'tricky' they can sometimes take your pre-order deposit then when the phone is in, give it to other customers who are paying cash straight away and then keep you waiting so their cash flow is higher...
Normally deposits are 300 HKD, which I have checked with at Fortress and Wilson. I've got my preordered with Wilson.
To be honest, it's an awesome phone but 450+ GBP or 5,000 HKD+ for a mobile phone is still very painful. I could build a pretty decent PC with that money.. But anyways I sold my HTC Desire and have no phone to use at the moment, so the GN should come in stock in HK from the 14-16th.
Has anyone got any tips to help check the Galaxy Nexus for any bugs/flaws when picking my one up? Like screen deficiencies, Touch screen issues etc?

as for checking for defects; I've read that you shouyld check the physical camera module to see if its aligned up as some people have said that it wasn't on theirs and returned theirs for another.

I preordered the phone last Thursday, the day Wilson started preorders. A friend who works at 3 preordered his on the Wednesday and said he would get his on the 14th. I think you can try Sincere Centre or price.com.hk, because if you now order from Wilson or Fortress etc, you'll have to wait for at least second batch which nobody knows when that will be.

Dose anyone here know if best buy is going to have them in stock on launch day? I preordered mine there on 10/27 and the employees at my local store aren't very helpful. Ťhey said I would get first one because they didn't even know it could be preordered but I would like to know when to expect it.

I pre ordered phones there before and they had them on launch day. I even got the note 10.1 there on launch day....So, I assume it will be the same. Your note 2 will be sitting in the locked drawer just waiting for you...

My bet is the AT&T version will not be available on launch day at Best Buy. AT&T is shipping online preorders today. A group of us have been waiting for the Sprint version at Best Buy and have recently confirmed that the white version is finally arriving at the stores but they can't sell them until the 11th. Sprint stores started selling them on 10-25. This means Sprint Corporate probably had exclusivity for a couple weeks to sell the phones first and AT&T will probably do the same thing.

I just called best buy mobile and canceled my order. The Guy said they wouldn't have them for delivery until the 15th at the earliest. I'll just pick one up somewhere Friday, hopefully.

I called Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile in Greenwood Indiana. The Mobile store says they have it on the 11th and Best Buy store said they don't have a date yet. Suffice it to say I will be at the AT&T store at 9am picking up the Note 2 and cancelling my order with Best Buy Mobile.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot. Cancel NOTHING until you have one in hand, as the average employee, phone rep etc. at Best Buy OR AT&T haven't a clue when they will have or ship anything other than what they hear from the folks around them. You just have to check your options, and be ready to pounce if one turns up, LOL, but canceling orders on spec is a losing game, trust me, I have been there and done that more than once. My frustration is I only have a debit card, and any pre-order I ever place always debits the money for at least a week, and then rills the charge off if it has not delivered or shipped. It ties up my money so I can't hedge my bets with a backup plan. Fortunately i git lucky this go around and have one arriving via Fedex late delivery tomorrow.

I work for best buy mobile so I can counter-confirm your claim. We have a HARD street date for AT&T of 11/9 and sprint is 11/11. That may have been what they were referring to. Or you got a dumb employee that doesn't know how to pull up street dates. And trust me, I know more than my **** when it comes to AT&T releases for this company
I'm in NYC, 5th ave store & Union Square store confirms Sunday the 11th. But for the Sprint version. They already have them. AT&T isnt in stock yet and should arrive towards the end of the month (or 2 weeks).

Did you have the Note 2's in store as of today or are you expecting them to arrive in a truck early tomorrow?
When I called the best buy mobile number from their website, the rep claimed that they should have them in stores tomorrow according to their system. So hopefully that is the case...

Might be a good idea to post non premiere/ATT pricing here as more non early adopter people like me begin to look for the Note II deals.
I have not decided between this and the N7100 yet. But I am leaning towards the ATT version if I can save $400.
Costco has the S3 for $129 and the Note I for $99.I wonder how much the Note 2 will be.

For those who didn't pre-order; Is it impossible to buy one without the ridiculous 3rd party mark up price?
I got mine from bestbuy without a preorder at regular price.
I got mine at an AT&T store without a preorder.
I forgot to mention, I am from Canada.
From what I recall, there were quite limited numbers even in the US.
Do any of you guys know what avenues I can go through to aquire one?

Basically... yes. Go to ebay, and find somebody selling it with the proof of purchase. As long as you have that you get the concierge + one time $150 screen replacement. I paid 2200 for mine.
I bought mine on a EE (UK) contract for £50 up front (took about a week to come). Shame it's costing me £119 a month, but I do get 2 years of Amazon Video, plus 6 months of Apple Music and few other extras. I worked it out that it's only slightly more than getting an iPhone 11 Pro Max, but you are getting something far more unique with the Fold.
The Fold isn't sold in the Netherlands, so I ordered one from Samsung Germany. This had the bonus of scoring me the 5G model (F907B), too.
Got mine from the Samsung Store in the UK, they had 2 in stock at the time (9 days ago)

now i'm really considering the fold.
The Razr is nice and all that, but those specs and that battery don't cut the mustard at that price IMHO
