OTG cable now working? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's been a while since I've been on xda. I don't know the latest news, but are the otg cables now working for the kf? If so, what works? Can I hook up a keyboard or a Bluetooth usb?

USB otg works. No Bluetooth otg. You can use a keyboard or mouse without a hub if they are not USB 2.0. If you want to use multiple devices or USB 2.0 devices then you need a powered hub. Mice, keyboards, some flash drives, and Xbox 360 controllers are working right now.

Great! Thanks. What do I need to install for that too work. I'm in the process of choosing a ROM but I was going to wait until that reply.

USB otg works on any ROM based on hashcode's 3.x kernel. Most ROMs will mention whether or not they use hashcode's kernel in their OP.

You can use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I have a Microsoft 6000 bluetooth keyboard and a Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse. They both work fantastic on the A100. I bought a micro HDMI cable and now when I hook everything up to a big screen TV it is awesome.
Update: I'm not saying I use it this way. I'm just saying that you can and it works great. I actually bought the BT mouse and keyboard to use with my laptop.
Why on earth would you do that? If you absolutely need a keyboard for your tablet, they make a special tablet with a built in keyboard. They're called laptops.
And yeah, you can connect keyboard and mice through Bluetooth. Personally I prefer a nice clean design, over an unsightly USB port on the side, but to each their own I guess...

to connect to your computer to manage files.
A better question would be, can you use a USB OTG cable and a modded powered USB hub to connect devices? I know this is the case with my Motorola Atrix.

I bought a nokia USB OTG cable, and it is not working, at the moment
On the Atrix you have to mod a USB Hub to provide +5VDC somehow. I'm not sure of the specifics.

Double post I know, but here's the related Atrix thread. It would appear that the Atrix may have a USB Host port, this may not work on the Iconia A100 sadly...

You could buy a USB OTG controller. You plug it in to the 30 pin port on your tab and then just plug in whatever USB you want. If you buy a powered USB hub, you could plug in the hub to the tablet and then both devices into the hub. It would have to be a powered usb hub, though. As the note doesn't have the power to run it normally. Without the hub, you could get either a keyboard or a mouse in, depending what you'd like. Although, bluetooth mouses are dirt cheap on places like amazon. Same with bluetooth keyboards made for android. Just go and search about places like ebay and amazon for them. Or, the method I stated first - USB OTG and a powered USB hub. Although, it may be more costly depending on what you find.
I suggest you use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It's much comfortable and convenient to use. I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for input and OTG for usb and others.

My keyboard was from JB-HIFI in australia (my sister sent it to me). My mouse is an a4tech. You can buy it almost anywhere.

I don't understand the question? You mean like an OTG cable? If so just plug it in? I don't think anything works without a powered USB hub though. Maybe I just don't understand the question :\
type lsusb into terminal
Cheers, I have it plugged in but there's no indication on the device to if it is switched on, and yes via otg cable. Lsusb is wat I was looking for

It is bt dongle which does not have a light on it even when pugged into the computer, so was looking for a command "lsusb" which would show my usb devices so i know that they are getting read properly by the kindle. So if i had a powered hub, i would still have the same problem. lsusb works great, the reason i am asking is because im in the process of makin a micro usb powered adapter that is small, instead of using a powered hub.

I can't use OTG

I try to use this OTG with my pad but I can't mount with USB flash drives. I also use nexus importer for help but it not work. Help me please. thanks in advance.
Are you on stock LG or an AOSP rom? Only stock rom is reading OTG atm. I believe. There's also the chance that the cable isn't working ofc.
You could try stickmount from the playstore.

I'm on stock. But It said it error.
What format is stick formatted with? Try a few. Seems weird that it wouldn't work. I honestly expected that you were on a custom rom since it didn't work. I have linked a youtube vid somewhere else where a guy is using storage and hdmi out on stock rom. So it should work.
I dunno. ;/
I use an OTG cable on my stock G Pad with USB adapters and a Logitech wireless mouse dongle and everything works fine. Where are you looking for the drives after you connect them to the device ?
