Navbar question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello to all,
Is it possible top hide navbar when is not needed? Just like when that thing hides itself in videos or YouTube app. I am on JB androidme rom.
Thanks.

I use LMT and disable the navbar
It is great

You can only hide it completely and use an alternate gesture launcher etc. It won't actively appear and hide unfortunately and no hack has added that exact functionality.

+1 for LMT and Full Screen Toggle...awesome to have the full screen in all my apps now.

What is LMT?

PA has an expanded desktop option, that makes it full screen at will.

Hide navigation bar/soft keys

I have read on the Internet that you need to go into values/Bools.xml and change true to false. Well phone phone is lacking the folder values in framework–res.apk
I'm on 4.0.4
Does anyone know another way to hide them on completely stock rom? Everything is stock even the recovery.
Thank you so much in advance!

Any ideas?

Are you rooted? If you are try to search for Full screen mod or something. I'm not sure it's possible if your device is locked.

I'm wanting to do the tablet mod without using cwm. I can root fine and change values on my own. I just don't have the values folder in my framework–res.apk for some reason :?

Also downloaded app from this thread to see if it also changed Bools.xml or had a values folder and it does not so now I am lost on how to hide soft keys on my own.

Hide Nav Bar
Hello everybody!
So I have been looking around the internet for about half an hour now for a solution to this. I have a Nexus 4 and I just installed LMT and really like the fullscreen thing. After running into countless unhelpful threads about hiding the softkeys, I came across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
It worked!!! It worked perfectly! (at least it worked perfectly on my Nexus 4). It hides the nav bar without hiding the notification bar!!!
You can now hide soft keys (and keep notification bar) without modifications and reboots. Just try my new app:
GMD Hide Soft Keys
It also adds Quick NavBar - soft keys that can be opened with simple swipe from bottom and then autohide when not needed :good:.

Hiding the nav bar with power menu / gestures.

Does anyone know if it's possible to hide or show the navigation bar on demand? I'm running bugless beast nightly.
I found another thread, flashed the zip, got soft bricked. Anyone know of an app or another way to do it?

AOKP if you're willing to change ROM's.
yes, aokp, slim ics, foxhound(theoretically all the roms sharing aokp settings) will do the job. they allow u to control or hide nav bar in power button menu.

Awesome. Thanks guys... I'll change up and give it a shot.

Adjust brightness with invisibright app

For anyone missing the ability to adjust brightness by sliding across the notification bar - check out invisibright.

I've tested it on my SGS3. It's working well and allows much better control than auto brightness.

Was the notification bar brightness feature removed from the new Touch Wiz?

Yes, it was indeed

And added to that autobrightness is pretty poorly implemented so your app has been a godsend.

Lux free version works really well also. After taking the time to lock screen brightness to ambient brightness, auto brightness scales exactly the way I want now.

For anyone using the paid version of invisibright (which gives homescreen shortcuts) and Go Launcher, the latest update of GL allows for a double tap on screen (in the gestures settings). So if you're like me and already have the other gestures allocated to other stuff, you can now set up the double tap to shortcut and pick invisibright touch mode (or tilt mode) . Works like a charm

Jut tried it. Even better than status bar control.

A pity sgs2 Don't have search button for activate more easily but is a very good app.

hide the nav bar on lockscreen only?

I remember one of the first ROMs i flashed on my nexus was Code Name Android, and it had the option to hide the navigation bar on the lock screen only.
is this something that can easily be implemented into JB? i noticed it was taken off of ROMs because it interfered with incoming calls when the screen was on (wasn't able to answer call) just curious if it was ever fixed or if this is a simple mod that i could do myself with some layout tweaks or something.
anyone have a clue?
I use Widgetlocker - lock screen replacement app, and it has an option to hide the navigation bar. I highly recommend it, very customizable with tons of sliders/themes to choose from and is very light on using system resources and draining battery.

you sure about that? i know it has the option to hide the navigation bar buttons, but the black bar is still there.
i want the wallpaper to go from the notification bar all the way down to the bottom of the screen.

Oh okay. If that's the case then you'll need to go a different route. Widgetlocker just blacks it out.

Here is a screen cap of what it looks like.

Its not quite as bad on the device as it blends into the bottom of the phone but still not using the complete screen.

[REQUEST] Any Nav Bar Height Mod?

can anyone mod the nav bar thinner, better with completely hide the nav bar:good:
Aokp ROM has this feature implemented into their ROM.
It seems like it has gotten bigger.

This is for 4.1.1.

Hopefully it shouldn't be too much different?
FNV also has it. I knocked mine all the way down to 0, and it's gone. I'm also using GMD gesture control instead for navigation purposes, getting the most out of my nexus 4's screen

I used to do this on the Galaxy Nexus but I used LMT launcher instead. How easy is it to use GMD? I only use it for launching my universal search app

flash the aokp rom. it lets you completely customize the nav bar. you can add buttons change buttons and edit things like height.
check it out here
What about the status bar on top. Is there a option or mod to hide it all the time til you swipe down or something. I know the hidebar app hides both the top bar and the bottom bar at all time. But you cannot swipe down or show only the status bar without showing the navbar. Anybody knows

Lots of options open up when you get the bought app. I built my gestures to make triangles and it works really well. They explain everything and make it pretty straightforward.

I use ADW Launcher EX and it allows you to do that in settings. I believe other 4.0+ launchers have it built in.
