Gelaskins review - Galaxy S III Accessories

Review for "Gelaskins Enamored Owl Samsung Galaxy S III "
Hellur everyone, as you can see the gelaskin is pretty much a sticker that goes onto the body of your phone, be aware that with the gelaskins you dont get a screen protector so youll have to custom cut your own.
It took me at least 45 minutes to put this on, i dont have any fingernails so it was rough to apply it to the phone correctly
But all in all it smooths out easily and looks freaking awesome. Gives your phone a unique look and feeling.
I would rate this higher than any other phone skin, gelaskins customer service is also pretty reliable and awesome. Great place to get a phone or tablet skin.

I've always wondered about these. How do you view your content/screen through this? All I see is the design. Doesn't that get annoying?

The design is just a wallpaper matching the skin. Nothing is covering the display.
The skin is 3 parts:
The back skin
The front-top skin covering the earphone
The front-bottom skin covering the softkeys/home button

That's correct. Gelaskins let's you download the matching wallpaper with the phone skin. Pretty awesome, make sure you pick a design you wont get sick of.

I was always told that taking your electronics through the xray machines or whatever would kill them... guess not
That's not true, or you couldn't put them through an airport screener.
Dude get me a high res of that. I want it as a wallpaper.

Very slick. Thanks for sharing. It would make a neat background like rawsx said.
Awesome dude!
I third the background idea.
Bad. Ass.
is that with a D30 case?

Yes, it's in a D30 case. I like the case so far. The buttons are starting to get easier to press over time.

the original image is 942x528 and can be found on my blog (I think there should be a link to it in my profile). I'd post a link, but I don't have enough posts just yet.

that's true, radiation can damage electronics. it just takes a lot more radiation than is required to produce an image.
Very nice.

Let me think of a way to make it without increasing too much of file size. Thanks for the feedback

Alright. That will definetly make me buy it. I like darker backgrounds less battery drain and is easier on eyes. Thanks for taking it into consideration.

Big thanks to the guys at Gruver Concept.

For those of you who don't know who they are, they lazer etch preset or custom images on the backplate (battery door) of the Galaxy Nexus.
Not only did I receive it within a week of them having shipped it (they reside in the States, I'm from Canada), but they also sent it marked as a gift, meaning I didn't have to pay duty.
This was the end result:

Hey OP, if u don't mind, how much didbu end up paying ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
$48 with shipping, not too bad a price really for it being custom-designed and all. I'll do it again for the next nexus phone as well.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Wow that isn't bad at all. Hey phase, is there a certain pricing system u guys go by or is it random?

Killer design I love it. Only thing I am not loving though is how big those pics are! lol But regardless it looks great the etches are nice and clear so there is no issue with reading the quote as well.

My WHITE Sprint Galaxy Nexus :D

Yes, this is my white galaxy nexus. It is not painted or using a skin, it is the GSM white housing installed on a Sprint Nexus. After seeing the white version of the galaxy nexus, I just knew I needed one. Now this one is a bit of a hack job as I was just learning what would be necessary, and it took some pretty heavy modification, but as soon as I get a little more time and spare change I will be buying one more housing to do a cleaner job. Until I start the cleaner modification, I will be perfecting the fit on this one so I can have the best end result possible. As of this time I will not be doing a how-to as much of a hack job as it is, but when doing the cleaner conversion I plan to take some pictures to help some of you other daring DIY'ers out there. This post is just to share/show off my white galaxy nexus haha, and to show that it can be done! And now, a few pictures of my baby:

eww!
nice!
Looks kinda cool, but reminds me of some old iOS device or something. :/
You should get the Fantom glass screen protector in white to make the front white too. Personally I can't stand white phones with black faces. But that's just me.
Wish i could do that too, would love to have my Nexus in white...

I so totally wanna do with the my Sprint LTE Galaxy Nexus. Would have to ditch my otterbox though. Awesome work!!
I like it, but wouldn't care for the dirty factor it might take on. I prefer colors that hide blemishes and what not.
dude, I hate You.. I want Your phone now...
Would you care to elaborate on how you had to modify the housing?
Great!

Are you guys worried about the gap??

Are you guys worried about your note 4 having a gap? after hearing about the first phones over seas having a gap between the screen and the metal frame. don't know what to think of it, I wanna get the note on the 17th, but am afraid to pre order the note just because I don't want to open my brand new phone to a gap..
Nope.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm not worried at all about it. I've had at least one spot, in every phone I've owned, that had a gap in it somewhere. If this is what it takes to bond metal to glass, I'm all for it. It actually states the gap is there in the manual, so it's a design feature. Check out this video about the gap.
www.youtube.com/embed/r3mNJCNnARo
If the glass was right up against the metal, the slightest drop would cause the screen to spider crack. The plastic had a little absorption abilities but metal will transfer any vibration directly to the glass...so you should be happy it is there...it shows they were thinking.
Had a pair of note 2's in the family for a couple of years they've worked fine all this time. They both had a gap that you could barely fit a sticky note in. Not really a problem.
