MTB-mounted Galaxy W? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Anyone using the wonder as offroad navigator on a mountain bike or for cross-country-trips mounted on the handlebar?
It doesnt need to be waterproof (would be nice of course) but should be solid and should not "loose" the phone on trails.
Any sugestions?

How about something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KIT-BICYC...0596?pt=UK_Holders_Mounts&hash=item1c27642c14
Looks pretty secure, and is water resistant too.

I found that case to be a bit oversized, but actually it seems to be the best way to keep the phone somehow safe...
I'm gonn atry that out....

Yes it does look a little bit bulky and maybe not the most fashionable item - but I think looks are a sacrifice worth making if it means that your SGW stays safe and doesn't have any nasty accidents out on the trails.

Waterproof Case

i dont think i need to say anything about this.... well maybe... wtf???

Not a bad idea if you're in a boat a lot (specifically a speed boat or other boat where you get a lot of spray). That said, it has very limited practical uses. These "cases" have been around for quite a while, though, with the various phones.
I didn't know this. They just seem cheaply made. Like a zip lock bag..

They are much thicker than a zippy. REI sells them as well as other outdoor retailers. To market this for any specific phone and mark it up is a **** move.

look into pelican cases. those things are solid. water proof and crush proof. i think you would have to take your phone out of the case to use it, but other than that, the cases work great.

you... THINK? XD
I bought one of these a while back. It works great except for if you leave your phone in it for a while, the case will ad hear itself to the screen protector if you have one and pull it off when you take it out of the case. Other then that I think it's a good investment if you're out on the water a lot. I can use my phone in the case as well.

Simply because our device is too new and there is too little of a user base. If somebody wanted to make them in small numbers at a small production cost, it might be difficult (especially on how to make sure it snaps to the device without hurting it), and then marketing them at a price point people would buy would be even more difficult.
It is sort of a mass point problem. We haven't hit critical mass, and thanks to this being a fairly niche phone, we probably won't get that kind of notoriety.
That would look awkward.
* Accidentally double posted.
Damn that is ugly... Why you would want to attach it to that monstrosity is beyond me

Looks? Who cares about the looks? This adds grip. Not eye candy.
and I doubt you'd be bring this with you while on the go, so why not?
May as well connect your PS3 controller if you are going to this trouble.

I agree, something chunky to sit in the palm of my hand is what the play pad is missing. It's too thin IMO.
Look folks, I grew up playing games on ergonomically awkward controllers. Original NES was Square, SNES was slightly less square. N64 was the first console controller I used that actually pretended to care about cramping hands.
Tough it out a little. You'll grow to love the pain.
LOL you are only a real man when you have wrist and finger problems

The Dreamcast controller was a pleasure to use, except for the DPad.
This would only be cool if it had extended batterys in the grip can you say 24 hours of gaming?

Have to disagree.
The Dreamcast pad 'handles' always felt like it was digging into my palms...and having the wire at the bottom was annoying.
Loved the console though at the time.
I would love a snap on grip. My hands hurt from contorting to hold the little thing.

i dont know but my hands are fine when using the phone.. i have huge hands by the way
I don't mind holding the phone when gaming, except if I'm clenching it hard.
Has anyone tried hothousing the PSP GO handgrip to an Xperia Play case?

Just tried, XPP won't fit. PSP GO is bigger and larger.
Digging a dead xbox controller with dremel work could work though.

Lanyard

This may seem like a stupid question but, is there not a loop for a lanyard strap on the Galaxy W? Have I just missed it? Seems hard to believe they didn't include it.
Nope, our phone doesn't have an eyelet for even a charm to dangle from.

Not a good idea, the back cover comes off pretty easily. If you assume that it is sturdy, you will be disappointed by seeing your phone fall.

I was actually considering this one, but same as THE-E's comments, I was afraid the back cover would fall off, or the grills would actually break.

I wouldn't try it, although I do think it was a funny suggestion lol.
Use a dremel!

Waterproof case that allows camera use

Hi All,
I'm going on holiday soon to a sunny island and will be out at sea...
Was wondering if there's a case on the market with a see through back that would allow me to use the S3 under water? If so could you please post me a link to where I could buy one?

You can only use it once though and i think you can have it underwater for around 30 min.
I have this on my watch list. hard to know if you can really trust it tho

Ive never heard of that company "Protector F" the one from amazon ive seen several videos on people actually test it so if it were me i would go with something i trust if my phones going under water.
Easy old trick is a sandwich bag and a little silicone. I know fishermen friends who did that with the Motorola bricks back in the day. But your real issue is the capacitive touch screen. It'll probably not pick up your fingers. Ever tried to use your phone with a drop on the screen? Tends to throw it off.

This one looks promising. I like the idea of the vacuum seal, I will probably be ordering at some point. You can find them cheaper if you look around.

Geez, $40? IMO, for that kind of price, I think it would be beneficial cost wise to use the sandwich bag gimmick as stated above but find someone with one of those airtight bag sealers to protect the device furthermore. That's pretty much what that dry case is anyway, just in a more easy to use, continual usage, professional looking wrap.

You're just attaching an additional battery on to the back of your phone right? I don't get it.
Are you away from a plug socket/outlet for more than 12hrs at a time?

agreed.
you are nowhere near a point where you should be showing off. get at least some semblance of a finished product, then come back.
doing a mod that allows you to keep a stylistic part (the draco) by making the device look like something scrounged from junk, is silly. and that is where it is as of now.

I think it is modelling parts: sheets of modelling plastic, glued together with modelling putty.. and then not bothered to be sanded down, or anything.

3D printers. Must have.
Yeah I didn't finish it. I'm using the plastic welding method. Once I sand it down it'll have a rounded edge and it'll be buttery smooth

I'm not showing off. If you go through these threads just to bash on people, its not appreciated. If you actually read it. I wrote "WORK IN PROGRESS" and im pretty sure once i finish dremeling it and sanding it with rounded edges it'll look decent enough.
I just finished sanding. Can anybody give me any suggestions on how to make the corners cleaner? Is silicone a good option? I can't sand it down anymore or I would go through the plastic since I used a thin one to use NFC

Only option to make it look nicer that comes to mind is using a red vinyl decal. Ill try it if all else fails...
Sorry, but I don't get why you're doing this.
As per my previous post, are you away from mains power for more than 12 hours at a time?
Hey dude, get some automotive body filler. Should clean it up nicely. Model car putty should work too but i think the automotive filler will hold up better to getting hit. . Tape off the area you dont want to get the stuff on, Lay it on, than sand it, than id suggest spray painting the stuff to protect it, than it will look good.
Do a search on model car putty to get an idea of what it does.

Thanks, hopefully this works out because i was thinking about silicone and this looks like a better option.
spraying it with white truck bed liner would probably be decent too, figure it would add some durability to it
This us what you need the seidio back for a extended battery.
