[Q] Latest flashable CWM - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I cant seem to find a flashable CWM 6.0.1.1 :crying:

As far as I know there is no CWM 6.0.1.1. Atleast not for the ATT version.
There are other Clockwork mods though, I will list them for you:
Normal Clockwork Recovery: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.5-d2att.img
Touch Clockwork Recovery: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.5-d2att.img
-- For these two clockwork mods to work they need to be installed in a special way. You must download one of the above, rename the file to recovery.img and put it on your main microSD card or internal memory.
Now, assuming you know how to use ADB,
Open up the cmd prompt and navigate to the ADB folder.
type adb shell
once in the shell type su
then type
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
And here is a link to the TWRP Recovery thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793224
I hope this helps.

There WAS touch, actualy, I have the img file still, and it's runnig on my S3, but I went to the site, and it's gone again.. Are they still working on an update to 6.x of touch also?

Please make sure your information is correct before posting. This is from the ROM manager website. I don't think it gets more official than this.
well, can't upload screenshot. Just google "ROM manager apk" and it will get you to the official page.

I don't understand where you are going with that? The site, does not have the touch version *anymore* tho it did a few weeks before when i installed it. i was asking if anyone knew of an update in the near future.

Wasn't aimed at you in particular Eatonjb. I just saw a couple conflicting posts offering less than correct info. that's all.

You can b/u to your external sd card with 5.8.4.5. I didnt see that option w/other versions.

Modpunk has a CWM 6.0.0.3 build with his CM9 builds. It works pretty well. There is a Marvel and a Marvelc version.
https://code.google.com/p/cm9-wildfire-s/downloads/list
It's as a PG76IMG that needs to be renamed... Or you can extract it and flash it yourself.
i think i'll wait for the official version for wfs.

How to flash a newer version of CWM safely

I initially rooted with http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS3ATT/rooting/GalaxyS3RootATT.zip that I got from here yesterday but feel like it has been al ittle glitcht.y http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-att-galaxy-s3-sgh-i747/
the newer version is recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.5-d2att sI don't want it to conflict with the old version of CWM or anything it leaves behind. hould I just do it through odin?
the best route would be to flash from rom manager.....and if not, grab the latest from the interwebz and run this from terminal
su
if=/sdcard/ recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
reboot recovery

what do you mean "through" rom manager. Did you flash an image through it? Could you provide the link for that image?
OR

The first option in RM is to flash a recovery. Upon pressing that you are given a list of phones. Scroll down to the Samsung GS3 and choose it. It will then flash the recovery within RM.

Hey my md5 checksum has a mismatch, but I know the files are fine. is there a terminal command to recompile the md5 for a given image?
Also I noticed the new version of CWM has teh option to backup files as TAR, wouldn't that be better since Odin flashes Tar? If you couldn't get into CWM for some reason you can just flash for Odin?
Forgive me if I'm being newb here had my phone for three days after a motorola bravo

This thread found right below my post will be of the most importance to you involving your current situation with your recovery. If you go to the CWM team website, I have linked here and browse the list of phones you'll find that the touch recovery for the AT&T variant is at 6.0.1.4. Just right click on the version number, (Don't left click as it will come up with a page full of random symbols.) and press save as and save it to the desktop. This is the bare .img file. It will have the full file name but before saving it rename it to; (without quotes) "recovery.img". After that follow the steps in the link below in order to flash it with ADB. (Since the other recommended ways aren't working for you).

ROM manager does not recognize the touch recovery since technically it is still considered experimental. Only the basic volume control recovery is recognized. This goes with saying with the free version of this app installed. I however, am not sure as to whether it recognizes it after upgrading to premium as it is a premium feature of ROM Manager.

Its alright if it isn't recognized by ROM Manager. As I said it is still considered "experimental" so it isn't supported by the app. I have had the premium version installed and it wouldn't let me flash the CWM-T through the app. Only when I used ADB did I get through. Still says nothing is installed. Just a little glitch on the developer's side if anything. Don't stress about it, once you can boot into your recovery your good.

New version just released this morning. (2.3.1) and works great. Don't use 2.3.0 as there have been issues.
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery

I loved TWRP when I was on the S3, but on the S4 it appears to be too sensitive. When I try to install a zip file and scroll down the list of folder using my finger it will enter that folder i did not pick.

Yes, there is an issue with that since the touch screen is so much more sensitive on the S4, but it will be fixed soon. Team Win is working on it.
