almost stock white gnex - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

got the white housing for the gnex and decide to buy the white matte screen protector
http://www.chinagadgetland.com/middle-cover-for-samsung-galaxy-nexus-i9250-white-p-10006362.html
housing from chinabudgetland.com cost $29.50. Everything was great and was easy to install. Only con is that it doesn't come with white button. But i manage to get a huge discount from the owner and ended up paying only $17.50 for the housing and shipping with tracking number. Came in every nice packing and lots of bubble wrap.

the Gnex color screen protector cost $8.88 with free shipping took only 8 day to ship from south korea. Seller sold 35 so i taught it was a trusted seller. Everything was great except the fact that it abit smaller that the screen. But it look pretty nice.

lolwut? of course Jelly Bean has LED notification, I'm using it.
If only there was a way of making sure that the LED shines through the screen protector I'd buy it.

Mine jb doesn't have notification light. I got the paid lightflow app and it doesn't turn on when there a notification. Just holepunch it

Yeah I figured he was just posting without knowing for sure. I dont think they will ever make a white digitizer as the next model is just around the corner and since its so difficult to replace just the digitizer without ruining the lcd.

The amoled is fused to the glass so its impossible to replace the glass without also replacing the amoled, which is why there are no third party digitizers.
No I really wish they made a white digitizer. I would make a full white gnex if they did.
Also, a white digitizer for the dinc would be nice

Thanks for the pics but I dont think there ever will be a white digitizer. The market is so small for that plus it would have to come with a very expensive lcd screen that just isnt cost feasable. I cant find any surveys but a $250 digitizer is just crazy when a brand new phone costs 350+tax, with the costs surely to drop as time passes. Stickers are our only hope until Fantom decides to release a white glass screen protector which I dont think is very likely. Istyles and skinit are 2 other websites that sell custom vinyl stickers and attached a couple of pics that I found from other threads. A black front on top of an all white body isnt too bad though and have thought about ordering vinyl stickers but am sure I will just rip them off after a day or two of having it on.

Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
for our specific phone the screen and the digitizer are fused into one which makes it much more difficult/risky to try to change separately. plus u wont find only the screen without the digitizer. I recently replaced my screen too so i can say i have experience.
refer to this if u havent:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Epic-4G-Touch-Teardown/6481/1
look on ebay for cheaper offers, otherwise they end up costing about $150+. i got mine for $65 shipped and it was in pristine condition
use this as a start (make sure its our phone of course):
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...gitizer&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
dont forget to be gentle! i screwed up my original screen bc i was too rough and glass shards got btwn the screen and the digitizer, but i was also trying to separate the screen from the digitizer, which was stupid
good luck!
I have a complete housing I could sell you. Its the black one, like new condition. I am currently using the white housing on my phone, and have two black ones.

Custom colored faceplate for SGS3

Wouldn't it be awesome? To buy a gold faceplate off eBay and install it yourself and end up having a shiney new gold phone. Beat that iSheep! But however I don't think it is possible simply because of the way the the phone was designed - and that was thinness first. Samsung has fused all those layers of glass (glass, touch screen, and digitizer[?]) together so we get a thinner product, but harder physical customisations/repairs. I might be wrong though, has anyone here replaced the faceplate/screen of their SGS3? Would it be possible to spray paint even the faceplate without getting the screen too?
What is your guys opinion on the way this phone was designed? (In relation to thinnest VS hard repairs, not how god damn ugly Apple made Samsung design the phone) Also, if you could, what color(s) would you paint your SGS3?

I've seen the aluminum cases and they look nice. I'm curious as to if they have a negative impact on the signal strength/ reception. If they don't, I'd be tempted to get one myself!
Yea the housing looks nice. I guess the goal for us all is to have a different colored S3, but preferably without adding bulk to it. The Mercury screen protectors are nice actually, as well as the replacement back cover/housing. So I guess there were more options available that i didnt know about when i started this thread.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm still looking at the mercury protectors but it seems that there are 2 versions. a flat one that leaves a 2mm gap from the edge and a curved one that fits perfectly.
I'm still trying to figure out if there's a way to get the curved one. but that is an option for you.
EDIT: and the housing.. you can always buy the housing and spraypaint it yourself.. or even handpaint it if you have the artistic skills.
I have a bezel and home button with infused "diamonds". No stickers etc. Looks nice with the Pebble Blue screen and battery cover.

[Q] cracked screen

so i was sitting down on a patio chair in my backyard. the S3 in all its sleek sexiness, slips out of my pockets, falls a mere 4 inches. i pick it up, praying that it does not have a crack. god just wasn't listening this day. it just wasn't in the cards. :crying:
i don't have a warranty and sprint said they cant do anything for me. i just figured i can do it myself. im not a novice when taking apart phones and fixing them. as sick as it sounds, i actually love doing it.
my big question is; are there any black front glass panels with the Samsung logo on them. im going to change the back battery cover as well and have a totally unique S3. this makes me happy.
so do you guys know of any reputable sites to where i can get a quality front panel with glass, in black?
thanks a bunch
or really any other color than red, cobalt and while
So nothing huh?

Painted white Verizon GN!

Here is my attempt at painting my galaxy nexus. I did 4 coats of vinyl & fabric paint from auto zone. I used 400 sandpaper on both the battery cover and frame. This is in no way perfect, it was my first time and I plan on redoing it again. With a clear coat.
I learned: MASKING IS KEY!
and for my results:
I will re paint it when it starts fading or I get chips. I will most likely keep the back cover white and do the frame red and buttons white or black. But for not its fine. If anyone has any question I will do my best to help =]

i'm usually not a fan of white phones, but crikey, that is beautifully done. excellent work.
Nicely Done.
Looks pretty good. I did mine metallic blue like a few people did on here. I only did one coat for starters because I wanted to see how long one coat would last with a layer of lacquer before it started to chip a bit, only took three weeks and now I have two nicks. Gonna pick up some bright blue rustoleum at Advance Auto today and probably repaint on friday with two or three coats. That last picture does make the battery cover seem buldgy though, is it actually like that or just a bad angle?
You need to use a softer sandpaper, and when you spray primer (if you sprayed it)brush it with a soft 1000 sandpaper under water, and use much much less paint. Car painter here

(Q) Replacement Screen

Technically it will work. If you're fine with having a gray screen and a white back cover, go ahead and do it! Will the screen replacement come with a home button? You have to replace that too if you're coming from a white phone.
Replacing the screen is no easy task. If you're replacing the entire assembly, including the LCD, it's much simpler; but just the lens? It's laminated to the digitizer layer, the touch layer, and the LCD itself. You've very little chance of doing a quality replacement.
I broke my screen a couple of weeks ago. Very upset over it so I've looked into exactly what you're doing. I've settled for just putting a film protector over it and living with it for now.
Thank you both for replying and it is the whole lcd unit I will be replacing, and was unsure incase the white lcd was different to the gray and I can only get gray from a shop nearby.
And sorry to hear you have broken yours too, mine is very noticeable, but I use a flip cover so I don't have to look at it all the time
