Why are youtube vids soo slow? - HTC One X

I am finding youtube videos so slow slow to start and continuously stopping to download the file, I never had issues like this with my desire HD or HD2. Although the screen is so superior on the one X it is completely spoiling the experience having to wait for 10-15 seconds to wait for the video to begin and the to have the video pausing every 5 secs. IS this an issue with the phone or the wifi connection I am using. I have unchecked the high quality on mobile in settings but to no avail. Any help appreciated

stock android 4.0.3

I have the exact same problem, latest officiall update: stock 4.0.4 with sense 4.1
Youtub constanstly keeps stopping and I have to wait for download
It is not related to my internetconnection
I had the same problem on previous SW version as well....
The phone is not rooted

Just checked, it's fine here, buffering at over double real time speed, on a hd video. 1.29.708.15.

To be honest, the phone doesnt make that much different to the speed of a loading video.
Make sure its using WiFi and not data to load the video.
Also make sure a computer/laptop doesnt do it.
If it does then your WiFi needs to be quicker

if you do do this test, do it on wifi, in the same place you would normally do it on your phone. don't cheat by plugging in the cable.

I didn't mean put your laptop by your router, and run down the road with your phone?
Haha

Stock 1.29 and YouTube works perfect when I am on 3.2mbps speed WiFi and it buffers when I am slow net. It is depends on WiFi .

I believe yours is an isolated problem. My friends' and mine are perfect; plays INSTANTLY, videos are crisp, and continue to be so all the way. This is over WiFi, and I play mostly 1080p or 720p when available.
So, check your hotspot...maybe you have a free-loader in your hood

Mine plays totally fine 8Mbps down, with ARHD 9.3.1.
Only thing i've found with it since i got my HOX, was the constant stuttering on sound. Stopped using it now as its annoying,

It depends on the video IME. Even on my hardwired desktop with a 60meg connection, youtube often pauses to buffer.

issues with flash player 11 and mplayer(Solved)

I'm using flashplayer(stock-browser) and mplayer to listen to radio streams but after 5 minutes of joy the stream drops.
How can i fix this?
Is the tablet going in suspended mode or is the screen staying on? If the screen goes off, the device will stop apps from consuming battery by continuing to run.
Also note that it doesn't go into full suspend as soon as the screen turns off; it might be a couple of minutes later.
No the screen stays on.I will try an app that doesn't put the tablet in suspend mode.
Non succesfull sometimes 3 min. or 5 then i got kicked again.
Today jwplayer on a random website was on my list to test.
Max 3 minutes then the vid stream stopped again.
Anyone else having problems with streaming audio and vids on this tablet?
Could it be a Honeycomb/Android bug ?
I have had some odd issues with the Wifi deciding to drop and reconnect. It caused stuff like you are seeing.
Im guessing the fix is going to be a patch. The work around I used that has so far eliminated the issue was just just change from DHCP to Static for that Wifi connection after connecting.
No idea if this will relate to what you are experiencing without more information. Its an easy thing to try however.

What version OS are you running? I recently updated mine to 2.007.04_com_gen1. That took care of alot of the software issues I was having. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18493425 and check out the update packages.
EDIT: Sorry, nor OS version but ROM version.
ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

[Q] Choppy Low Quality Video on Youtube in ICS

On every ICS ROM (not the 2.3.7 mod) I used on my EVO 4g, I have noticed choppy playback(I mean it was really lagging) on YouTube videos even on WiFi (20Mbps) but not on High Quality. Have anyone else noticed this problem because I haven't seen anyone complaining on this issue? Maybe its just my phone. Anyway thanks for your responses.

You might want to check to see what process' running on your phone, could be causing the lag.

But the lag is gone when I turn HQ on and comeback when its off.
there is no video acceleration on those roms yet, hence why your videos are stuttering.
I have pretty much the same problem, but when I leave youtube and re-open it, everything is fine.

[Q] Music skips/chopping on HTC ONE X

HELLO EVERYONE
I'm having issue regarding the music chopping/skipping while listening from the headphones.
please help!!
Are you on .126 Rom? Because on there it was caused by some beats profiles, I would try disabling beats for a while and see.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I was also had this issue when I was on the 1.26 rom playing local stored music via the inbuilt player, but it was more a a small pause. As I was in a location where the data to the phone kept changing, EG 3G, E, H, I was able to determine the pause occurred when the phone changed it's data transfer type. I am no longer in that enviroment so I can not test the newer roms.
I M on 1.28 sense version, if you meant this ..sorry I'm new to all these terms Rom n all.
Kind of same here
Hi,
Not sure if it is the same problem, but I also have issues with the music chopping and clicking.
I noticed it is happening everytime the data connection changes indeed (loss of 3G in the sub, siwtch to wifi, etc...)
I asked HTC support about it but still no answer.
Will try tomorrow with Beats off.
I am using a european version (tegra) and the latest factory rom (1.29.401.11).
Can't wait for the, to release a correction, it is really annoying.
I'm suffering with a similar issue. Latest software.
Same issue here
I'm having the same problem, on version 1.29.161.13
Has only recently started doing it, where audio will skip/click with Beats Profile on OR with the HTC Sound Enhancer on. Switching these off resolves the issue. This happens when using stock music player or watching video. Switching to airplane mode makes no difference.
The fact it has only recently started doing it leads me to think it must be fixable... any ideas?!
Are you listening to your music over Bluetooth headphones/earphones?
i take it a reboot doesn't fix it?
Music skips/chopping on HTC ONE X
i am also having a same problem it also do the same thing in video playing also while streaming youtube video or play any HD video :crying: plzz help i came from galaxy s2 and hating this.....
When you stream from YouTube press pause wait about 10 secs, then play, the cracks and pops should be reduced. To eliminate them allow the vid to completely load before playing. I think is a flash problem, bound to be fixed in the next update.

I've been listening over the stock headphones, tried it this evening with my Pioneers and same issue.
Sometimes when I go to sound enhancer in the video player settings the list comes up blank with no options, and I wonder if that's related to the issue. It seems like the software doesn't realise that the Beats profile is on, so it keeps trying to turn it on again, which causes the clicks and skipping.
I tried turning it on and off through the notification bar, and then through the music player (which has more options than the video player) and then returning to the video player which seemed to resolve it until I exited and went back in later...

this is 99% not hardware. i'm so tempted to say 100% but then if it is hardware i'd be wrong
this is software. have you tried using an alternative app to play the music? such as poweramp?

I think it's software, but not the app itself. It's the same with Spotify, so i'd be included to think it's a driver of some sort, or something Sense is doing.
Anyone tried a custom ROM? I'm using MaXimus but haven't re-tested the audio since flashing. That's still got Sense, though, so probably not the best example.
Definitely driver. This problem crept up on ne After I flashed viper x. So everything I go into underground parking, my music starts to get choppy

HOX VERY slow after transferring music to it

I've always had about 50-100 music tracks on my HOX before, but I recently decided to transfer more music to it so the number of songs I have on it is now over 1000. Since doing this, my phone has become incredibly slow. Start up time is well over a minute compared to under 20 seconds before. There is lots of lag, the screen becomes unresponsive for short periods of time unexpectedly, animations are choppy and apps crash all the time.
I'm beginning to think the only solution is to delete all the music off the phone. I hope this isn't the answer because I think it's pretty ridiculous that a device of this class has issues with music files given that it is a major feature of the phone.
If anyone has any suggestions or solutions it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

I have had the very same problem occur to my One X on several occasions, and I've yet to find out what causes it. The lag makes the phone almost unusable. It will take up to 10 seconds for the screen to switch on after pressing the power button, it's that bad.
It seems to happen after my phone has been connected via USB to a PC and I've been transferring files to it. Judging by some of the error messages that have appeared when I've had the problem, it is like the internal storage has not been recognised, or is running incredibly slowly.
I have noticed it seems to happen when I've almost filled the storage (in my case with videos) so I've tried to keep over 3GB free, and it hasn't happened in a long while now.
If anyone else has experienced it, and found a solution, I'd be very interested, too!
It was mentioned that it could be the sync app. Or maybe it's just when using USB drive mode. If you initiate the transfers from the phone (i.e., via dropbox or something) it doesn't happen.
There are some threads about it already.

I'm not using HTC Sync. I'm using a Mac and HTC Sync is not available for that platform. I'm not sure the workaround will work if HTC Sync is not running.
Okay so I've just removed all the music on my phone and now I have 21GB free space, but the phone is still being extremely slow. How do I get it to perform how it used to before I put the music on?
Help!

its the built in htc sync on the phone, it cause the phone to freeze up, if you follow my solved post you will find your phone works normally even after leaving only a few mbs left on the storage
It appears I've solved the issue of my phone being slow after deleting the music files. I simply left my phone for a short while and now it runs fine. Apparently it just needed a little time to sort itself out

What version(1.29.xxx.x) are you on now? I faced this weird issue when I am on 1.29.401.7 based IC rom. I felt it was an issue of that ruu. Once I updated to 1.29.401.11, it was gone. Now on 2.05, I see no weird things till now. Try updating if you unlocked.

I'm on 1.29.401.11. I'm also unlocked but there is no further updates for me right now. I'm quite annoyed that this issue with performance exists though in such a modern handset. Hopefully a software update will fix it.
I have 2000 mp3 files and no slow downs at all. When I'm transferring files I just copy and paste folders from my hdd in to the hox. But I'm not using default music player, but power amp. Maybe this is a key.

I had this issue last month on a 2.05 based rom. I had about 21 gb of music, with a few gb to spare.
It was a pain in the ass because I transferred the music just before I went overseas without my PC, and a nandroid resulted in bootloops, meaning no phone for a week.
I deleted about 300mb of music and all of a sudden, it magically started acting responsive again.

Bluetooth A2DP stutter cuts out while streaming music

I was hoping this would be fixed in the 4.4.2 update but it appears to still be there. While listening to anything in my vehicle with bluetooth A2DP the audio seems to cutout, like a bad connection. The song continues to play and sometimes I see the information on the radio screen disappear, as if the phone lost connection.
This happens no matter where I place the phone. Normally it sits in the storage pocket just below the radio but also happens in the mount on my dashboard as well as my center console.
It seems to happen less often if I plug in the charger, and even less if I force the screen to stay awake. I have not had this issue with my Sensation 4G or my Galaxy S3.
Any help is appreciated.

I have tried every combination of different settings and the only thing that seems to help, although does not resolve altogether, is to plug in the charger and tell the screen to stay on during charging. May be something related to the sleep mode putting the CPU at too low of a minimum.
I am looking at other stereos for my vehicle as it may be an issue with the stereo just not being fully compatible with the newer bluetooth version on the Note 3. I need to test this to be sure.
I have the same issue. My screen is always on and charging but it still stutters on occasion. I used to have the HTC One and it had the same issue. I don't think there is a fix except to try a custom rom.

I have the older 300BTX. One thing that you made me realize is that on 4.3 I was running leankernel the whole time, and with KitKat I was running the stock kernel until this morning.
Going to the gym in an hour and I'll test the bluetooth today to see if switching kernels fixes the issue.
*EDIT*
Didn't skip on me at all on the way home today. This leads me to believe that your skipping problem is kernel-related. Give leankernel a try and let us know if that fixed it for you too?
I was just going to post the same as Kalm. I tried the new v2.0 of LeanKernel and no stutter. Also my Bluetooth MAP is working consistently again with my Ford Sync system. I played about 20mins of music on my Jawbone Jambox with no stutter also.
think this is something specific to a chip. I can stream pandora with pandora control and stream pandora and music over str8 bluetooth via hondalink with no issue.
I think I am going to wait and see what happens when I upgrade to the S5 in a few weeks. If the problem persists I will probably start looking at new head units for my vehicle. I am already eyeing the Pioneer AppRadio 3 LOL
