No...I dont think so....
It worked for me when I renamed it to bootanimation.zip.
Also, dont forget to change permissions to rw-r--r--.

not workin'...it appears only "ANDROID" but with a special font

I didn't think it was going to work when I booted up my phone but then I saw the best looking boot animation ever! Good work!

Check the name of the file. It should be "bootanimation.zip" and the permissions rw-r--r--.

The best boot animation, thanks :highfive:

If you want you can rename the old one "bootanimation.zip.bak" in the case you want to use it for future. Also, just put this new one (copy/paste) like it's indicate in first post.

For me also its not working, as IM using Myth Rom .

are we just supposed to copy the file to /data/local? I did that and I just got a blank screen for the boot animation
To data/local it needs some editing and symlink

haha sorry I'm a semi-newbie. Thanks a lot for you help!
Look at the modded framework thread and download "Color Stat"
open with winrar at look at the update script, there is the bootanimation
symlinked to data/local.

Im reading alot about aliases does that have anything to do with symlink?
Creat right folders,Updat Script, zip the files and sign again.
Difficult to explain for me I´m from germany.
Maybe there are other methods to do this!

If you have a file named "sanim.zip" in system/media, them you can try moving bootanimation.zip there. If you don't see the bootanimation on reboot, then you're not running a bootanimation compatible kernel. There's a few of them in the development section. I will be posting flashable zips for stock and custom kernels later this week. I'm going to be swamped for a few days.
Posted different link.

If you still have the boot animation stored in your phone, you don't have to worry. You just have to remove the bootanimation from the temporal location. Normally when an app installs a boot animation it stores the files into a semi-permanent location:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
But the stock bootanimation is stored in the permament location:
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
Check with rootexplorer or other root file manager app if you still have the stock bootanimation in the permanent location; if the files are still there, the you only have to remove the bootanimation.zip file from the semi-permanent location (/system/media/ easy fix 1). If you deleted these files, then you will have to look for stock bootanimations, and insert the files in the permanet location (/data/local/ easy fix 2). Or do a fresh stock install (time demanding fix). Either way, good luck, I hope you get your boot animation back in your device! :good:

This is not a flashable zip, just use ROM Toolbox or any other root app that inserts bootanimations, or use root explorer to manually place the files in /system/media/ and rename the file to bootanimation.zip with permissions rwxr-xr-x

Nice simple animation! Thanks.
FWIW, you do not need to flash/place this to /system/media, just placing the bootanimation.zip file in /data/local will override the default bootanimation, no need to put in /system at all.
Any chance of getting a new version of this Boot Animation for 4.4.4 ?
It fails when trying to flash it.

The flashable zip technically puts it in the wrong place anyhow, sure it works, but the proper place for bootanimation.zip for the N7 2103 is /data/local, not /system/media, so get the file from the OP, open it up and copy bootanimation.zip to /data/local set rw-r--r--, and that's it.
