Can someone (in New Delhi) help me with repairing my Defy.? - Defy General

Is there someone who can help me repair my Defy+ (In New Delhi).?
Well, lemme share my problem with all of you first, M a new android user. I switched from Symbian to Android a few months ago (on 9th april 2012 to be precise), bought a new Motorola Defy+. Tested the water resistance many a times. Worked like a charm. Took it to shower with me. After a few days of purchase, i dropped the phone, by mistake, on the road. Picked it up immediately. Noticed a few scratches here & there, on the edges of the body only, none on the screen, ofcourse i had a screen guard on it too, so the screen was completely safe.
After a few days of that incident, i started noticing dust under my screen. & it increased day by day. One day i decided to wash it cuz it was getting dirty, & noticed water getting inside the screen. After a few minutes, noticed a lot of water inside the screen. Then i let the phone dry for a whole day & all the water disappeared (but the dust inside the screen still remained).
Then after about a month of usage with all that dust inside the screen, i decided to visit motorola service centers. Well, there are no official moto service centers in my city (New Delhi, India) where i can get my device serviced. I visited one service center, it was kind of a shared service center. They said to leave the phone with them for a week, & the motorola engineers will visit that service center & will tell them what parts need repairing, the cost, etc etc (ofcourse my device is still in warranty). I wasn't ready to leave my phone in such shady hands, as i didn't trust those people. So i came back home. A few days later, had my Defy+ opened by a local engineer. Cost me a fortune. But he opened it & properly cleaned the screen. I was happy.
The next morning, there was dust inside the screen again.
It increased day by day again. I just decided to let it be & lived with it. I got my defy+ to that same engineer again. He again opened the phone (costing the same fortune) & again cleaned it. This time, i got it laminated too, from the sides, & didn't leave any opening (since i thought the dust was going from the sides). The next morning, i noticed that engineer had left some fingerprints & dust inside the screen & all my efforts had been in vain.
So now, m tired of it all, i had the WORST experience with Motorola Defy+. Well, right now m not really worried of my warranty. Just wanna make my Device neat & clean. So is here any one here who can help me.? Do we have any indian user here, living in Delhi, who can repair my device.? I don't need any expert with the defy's hardware. I just need someone who can open it & who knows what he is doing (since m too damn scared to break my first droid)
Also, if there's any other solution to my problem, please, feel free to share it with me.

how much you paid to clean?
you must always give back to motorola service center.... dont beleive they dont have service center in delhi??

Umm. There are no MOTOROLA exclusive service centers like Samsung, Nokia, etc. There are some offices type service centers. They're like shared centers for BB, HTC, Moto, etc. & i was really uncomfortable leaving my phone with them for a week. So i couldn't do it. :\
& i paid 400 INR per cleaning. :\
Laminating charges extra.

you should have given it to the shared guys... they would have given you a receipt...
but in india... even company service centers are not reliable

I live in East Delhi (Dilshad Garden), but i can bring my device to saket if you can really help me out. I wanna get it cleaned & solve the problem permanently. So that more dust doesn't go inside the screen.

First day on vacation an I drop my Desire

"Luckily" only the camera doesn't work anymore, I get a black screen when the camera app is started everything else seems fine.
Will have to count in HTC's excellent customer service again when I get home, my 3rd HTC, I dropped each one they got fixed for free let's see what happens with this one...

Are you honest when you send them for repair? Or is it a case of "this just stopped working Mr HTC!"?
Be useful to know when I suffer butterfingers...
How high did you drop it from?!
ive dropped mine twice now, once was from only my hand when i was pissed, and the second as i came out of my house and it flew out of its pouch and flipped along the drive it some speed, and it still works perfectly albeit with some nasty dints in the casing.
Dropped mine tonight on bedroom floor from about 5 feet and all is fine

6 feet drop onto smooth concrete... one pokemark on one corner and a line on one side.
still works great~
haha
I'm completely honest, with my Touch HD I dropped it in the shower, they first said it would be €75 but when I got it back there was a €0 invoice with it.
I dropped my desire from my hand, I dropped it before on wood floors but this was on the pavement, I'm gonna ask for a replacement backside too as the camera lens is all scratched up.

Just got back and contacted HTC, they're picking up the phone tomorrow.
In the mean time I upgraded to FroYo (really liking it), also did a hard reset and the camera started working again but the flash is still kaput (even through the adb shell) I also asked for a new back cover as the lens is scratched.
Will post an update when my precious is fixed
dropped mine last week when driving at ~35km/h on my bike. it fell on its screen, skidded 10 metres on asphalt...and still everything works. it now has some heavy scratches on the casing though. luckily i had a screen protection applied, so the screen is still looking flawless.

How do you go about contacting HTC? Phone or email? Do you just say, I dropped my phone and x isn't working?
How long do they take to get back to you?

I called them, just selected the language and had to stay on hold for about 2min (without music ) before speaking to someone:
http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx
And yes, just told them I dropped it and the flash is not working, the guy asked if I tried resetting and then started a repair ticket. Via my phone number he saw that I had called before and verified my address etc.
I have now received a confirmation from the courier of the address and pickup time tomorrow and a form from HTC to add to the package.
The guy said the damage was not covered by warranty (duh) but that's what they said last time too, I (my company ) doesn't mind paying.

luckily i haven't dropped my phone. my heart broke every time i dropped my G1 ><
Nice and still flawless... Loving my Desire
I may have been wrong in my opinion of HTC service, I was lucky a few times but ...
This time the pickup went wrong, the driver came 2 hours before the arranged time (he said he waited 1 hour and thought that would make it right or something, if he waited 2 hours I'd have been there!)
So that delayed things.
The day after pickup I noticed HTC's repair tracker displayed "repair complete" which seemed strange, a call to HTC was very confusing, due to a mixup my original ticket was closed, a new one was opened but I could not get it or check it, I would be getting an email with updates ...
After a few days I contacted them again and was told to contact the repair centre, they gave me a number I could check and when I saw that it had nothing about the flash or camera not working only that the housing was damaged!!! Strange 'cause I never said anything about the housing.
When I called back they didn't know anything about the camera but a price for changing the casing was on it's way VIA POST, huh? they apparently did not have my email (very bad communication for an information tech company!) but after giving my email they said they would make a new offer to fix the camera/flash and send it by email.
And that is where I am at now, did not get the email yet and more than a week has passed already, I'm using my Touch HD again, I now know why I didn't miss WiMo ...
Interesting update. I guess they would have to run some sort of a basic diagnostic test on all phones in for repair. Evebn if the repair was just a cosmetic fix like a new glass or something. Hopefully it will be fine. Let us know when you get it back and how much if any it costs and if the fix was good.
Cheers!

No, I used to but screen protectors and cases always bug me, I change phones often enough not to need them
After a few more exchanges to get the repair of the camera/flash approved (by mail and paper post) it was finally sent back to me last Friday, obviously I was not notified of a deliver today and the need to pay the repair in cash (€130) so that delivery did not take place.
The courier service apparently can only give "between 9am and 6pm" delivery time so I'll probably get my phone back on Friday, exactly 3 weeks and 2 days since it was picked up for a repair that took less than 3 hours:
Repair at repair center - Started 18-8-2010 13:39:45
Repair at repair center - Finished 18-8-2010 16:15:53
All this is not HTC's fault obviously they only make the arrangements for pickup and repair by the respective companies.
The repair was done by Dynafix and pickup and delivery is done by Dynalogics, 2 companies that are part of the same group but do not communicate well with each other.
But HTC does choose the companies that can do their repairs and I think they should take a closer look at their partners.
To their credit HTC did personally contact me because I indicated a "Very Dissatisfied" on their customer survey and assured me they'd look into my case.
Phew finally got my Desire back, time to start forgetting this sordid episode.

I dropped mine from the night table to the carpet, bumped the table while I was asleep and the next day I had a chipped on the top left corner. I email HTC and complained about how easily mine got chipped and scratched. This is what they said.

[Q] Unbelievable - the LCD cracked!!

Unreal, can't believe this has happened. Bottom right hand side of my phone. Glass is fine and everything works but the key component that lets you see everything.. ruined.
Of course it happened two days before im supposed to fly off on holiday
This is a nightmare, need to now get some answers/fixes whatever.
Who will repair this thing? T-mobile my network provider or HTC? Do I even have a leg to stand on with any of this? Surely my consumer rights have to come into play, all i did was put it for charge and checked it ten minutes later to find it had cracked. If the battery or something has caused it to overheat surely it's their fault?
Can i leave it for two weeks while i go on holiday?
If i leave it for a whole two weeks will someone like the companies i mentioned refuse to fix it because i left it? With all that's going on i would really prefer to leave it till i get back. It won't get worse so this would be the best option for me.
My head is all over the place at the moment - What are my next steps now that i've found the LCD has cracked?
Just to add, i got the phone in November so it hasn't been a year yet.
I would really really, really appreciate any sort of help on this, even the slightest bit!
Sorry to hear, it's an awful feeling when such things happen just at the wrong time.
From other users experience and my you send to htc, which have an awful service center.. A mate and an xda member had his phone with them for a month before they decided to send him a new one, that's after number of phone calls and a believe a letter and from my experience then sent me my phone back in the same state as it was send.
Others have better experience with the network provider. And it shouldn't be a problem at all leaving it 2 weeks, I say that I confidence.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA
Very reassuring, cheers!
So if HTC tend to give you a new phone then my next step after coming back will be to grab every last bit of data off the thing. Good thing apps are linked to your Gmail account.
I might just see what my network provider says so it gets done quicker. It would be good to have a chance of getting a new phone though, haha.
To be honest I have three ways of sorting this, get it fixed with HTC, get it fixed with t-mobile or try and get it fixed with mobiles.co.uk the place I got it from. Essentially carphone warehouse.
I always prefer going the official route i.e HTC and I may even wait a while for it. Anyway I have to call them first and see what they say.
Again, very helpful cheers.
Send it to htc. The others will forward it to them anyway. The repair centre has vastly improved recently. They changed locations a while ago which slowed everything down but it's much better now. They also send a courier to collect the device the next day (after reporting) so you could send it away now and have it repaired when you return. Hope this helps.
Sent from my Motorola Startac running Atari 2600 software!
Will they just repair it? I had a HD2 a while back and my screen cracked sent it off to HTC for repair they rang me couple days later and told me that accidental damage was not covered by warranty. I asked for it back as they were quoting silly prices. They may try to fob you off with this and try to say it your fault.
Ricey
If the repair centre CAN repair it, they definitely will (that is one of their main performance indicators, repair vs replace). Yes, send it to them direct, cut out the middle man.
If there is no obvious impact that caused the crack, ie it's not your fault, I'd recommend you research heat (?) as a contributing factor and take them down that path, so that they don't spend too much time on the diagnostics. Doesn't sound normal to me, but they may have prior experience.
My only experience of a HTC repair centre was excellent, although it was 2 years ago and for a WM Prophet . They were in front of where I was working at the time and they took 2 days to fix, not replace the phone.
Oh, and install Titanium Backup, and do a full backup to your card.
Cheers for the advice!
Will definitely get in touch with HTC before anyone else. It's got to be a heat issue but what if they refuse? Can i bring my consumer rights into it? The crack looks like someone has pushed on it from behind but there is no outside damage and i was sitting in the room while it was charging; nobody touched it. It was hot when i picked it up but it always gets hot around the back when i charge it. It's definitely a heat issue but god knows what they say.
Hope i can just explain that and they will help.
Haven't rooted my phone so cant get Titanium backup but tbh i might as well root and backup everything thenrestore it all to default.

Worst Service EVER!!!

Guys,
Was wondering if any of you are suffering from HTC service center as i do.
Would like to let you know about my experience.
I have purchased my device about 6 months in Taiwan as in my country it wasn't available yet.
After a month of use i experienced some issues with the power button & 3G signal, and send the device to Greece service center.
After about 8 weeks that i didn't get my device back, I couldn't keep quite about the fix duration I raised a complaint via HTC site.
Surprisingly they have apologized (more then once) and sent me an "HTC Desire HD" as a compensation & my device was fix in a matter of days
Now things go terribly wrong, i got my device broken!!! and not by me, you could clearly see that in the attempt of pulling the screen out of the cover they have BROKEN it!!!
Yet again i found my self complaining about the "FIX" and the conclusion of the investigation that HTC raised was that i have broken it ???:silly:
Luckily for me i have talk with the local distributor about my case and he have changed my cover for FREE (yes, yes FREE!!!)
After all that saga i have found that the signal issue was not fix and i have send the device again to HTC Greece center.
They have signed on the delivery of the package on the 26/10/2012
UNTIL TODAY (AFTER 8 WEEKS) THEY ONLY SAY THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOME PARTS TO FIX MY DEVICE!!!
I'm MAD for the premium money i had to pay for such a service.
I'm kind of HTC freak and had 8 different devices for about 6 years,I think that it's not becoming to such a large company to have service issues.
Hopefully will get my "ONE X" soon and start to enjoy it
Have you all a nice weekend and Merry Christmas.
Dotan.
Worsrt service in greece
I just got screwed from htc greece today...
I send my phone for repair the first time for screen scratches as i bought the phone and had scratches.
And after a month of lying that they cant see the serial number of the device i got it back with a note saying that they found no problem... a month to tell me they found no problem.
Second time i send it in after 5 months of having the device for the wi fi problem and those bastards at htc greece kept my phone for 40 days and then i tryed to contact them they said that they changed the battery and the motherboard and are waiting a third part NOT TRUE i got the device nack with the repair note saying that they only changed the motherboard.
After almost 2 months i got my device with a diferent problem it looses gsm signal and i have to restart the phone to get signal.
Here is the good part i send it back and they told me they wont accept my waranty because the screen is not in perfect place and i have to pay 180 euro for the repair WTF, the way i see it they are lying to avoid the waranty since they are the ones who opened my phone 3 times.
Screw htc greece they are thiefs trying to avoid my waranty, i even told them ok lets asume that the screen somehow moved why wont you change the damn faulty motherboard you installed, and they answer "sorry since the screen is a bit missplaced we cant accept the waranty".
Htc greece = fraud now i have to press charges for fraud...
Why did i even bother to leave the samsung sceen this was my first and last htc device.
No doubt it was a great device and it still is but htc greece service is the mafia of mobile phones..
sorry to hear that my friend, hope you'll get the device soon!! i have it for 3 weeks now and its amazing, so hope they'll get it fix so you could enjoy it too!
Tell them "A yamissoo roofiyanos"
Sent from...... Who cares any way.
they insist i have to pay...i contacted my lawyer and he will press charges for fraud. Such a same for a so great device to have such a lame servise.
To kedp it short i send in my device for the wi fi issue and they send it back with a faulty motherboard that they installed tha loosed gsm signal completely and i have to restart
And they dont accept my waranty because they say the screen is a bit missplaced and they are the ones who opened my phone 3 times for repairs.
The irony is that i didnt want to root so i wont loose the warranty...
man..if u want premium service..buy an Iphone....and in 5 days u'll recieve one new.
i think that my htc one x got some wifi issues but after reading some of the complaint about the services, i'm kind of afraid to send it for repair now.
Thanks Guys.
I really hope to get my HTC OneX soon.
One thing for sure is that will sell it as soon as possible and will move to a better service oriented company.
"nemer12" i know you are right about the service, but iPhone????
HTC should reorganize there stuff and understand that without service they will be in the same spot as RIM today.
Will keep you posted.
from what i understand its better to solve the wi fi isue your self since you wont void the waranty.
you void the waranty if you remove the motherboard where the waranty sticker is
If you send it in for.service... then you are for a treat, they might even whant to avoid the waranty and try to make you pay like they did to me
Hi Guys,
Another week has passed, and we start week number 9.
Still no word from HTC service center about repair time frame.
I have also send a note to VP of customer care in FB :fingers-crossed: , but didn't get any reply just yet.
Really hope that my phone is not lost forever in there system.
Keep you posted in a week.
if i have to pay for the wifi fix then i will go to law ...because it's not my fault and yes...but i hope germany and there " HTC service" is not so bad like in other countries...
propably you will be fine i dont think service in germany act like in greece, in greece they try to robe you, i bet if i had a single scratch they would say that scratching my phone voids the waranty.
I actually got the best service. My bootloader was relocked, and they replaced my whole screen and fixed the wifi hardware problem in 5 days. Of course they charged for the screen. Also, when I told them from which shop I bought it from, they didnt even ask for a receipt!
In every country you have another office and different people, people don't want to face that but they should think a bit further then only there nose.
A company policy should be legal and straight forward in a contract but a company can't help it if they have some lazy dickheads working for them who are fat up of the daily routine (which I can understand as well in certain circumstance :laugh
or some moaners on a forum who like to kill because they are not satisfied with 'some service' if you know what I mean.
I personally had one issue with a phone of HTC (a few years ago) but they were so friendly on the phone when I called them, they asked me some details and picked up and returned the phone fixed in a couple of days.
Ofcourse if you buy a second hand phone on eBay with a limited or no warrentee you won't have the same service by HTC.
The phone I talk about I got as a present from someone who donated it to me from the US as a thanks because of the roms I cooked,
but HTC didn't have a problem at all repairing a US phone in the EU.
The only problem I had with this phone is that I had to pay a lot of import tax even if it was sent as a present.
You get my point? In all corners of the world you have different people and you can't just blame a company for that here on the board.
So do your moaning to the company and try to hit the dickheads, it's so wrong trying to kill a company in general, it sucks what you are doing to my opinion.
Ofcourse everyone has a different story but to my opinion it sucks if you start crying on a board like this, it's wrong and stupid.
I'm using HTC phones for years, I don't say they are perfect as 'every phone has its limits', but you will face that on any phone you think it can be good no matter which manufacturer.
Sorry about my English, it isn't perfect but I only like to make my point, and you can dig up my profile
but I never moaned about a company on the board.
You are not only trying to kill a company but also what used to be a friendly community, that's what I'm trying to explane, think further then only your nose.

Sorry my friend, you totaly missed my point.
I have never tried to "KILL" HTC, there devices are my favorites and i have purchased 6 different models in the passed years.
i have tried to address the service support about my device more then enough for the last 9 weeks !!!
and always i find my self back i the same spot, that is the person in customer care say to me that they understand that it takes too long and they are sorry but they don't are a repair time frame.
And that my friend is not acceptable, i would think that HTC could send me a new device if they can't repair.
But there is no answer from HTC side and it's very disappointing, and i'm trying that someone will wake up and give the right service.
About all your other comments i would rather not address (lets keep it in an adult manner).
Have a nice day.
You don't need to apologise to me.
I didn't miss your point as I do not miss many moaners here on the board, moaners who do miss my point and keep continue coming here, stubborn people who probably never want to understand.
To my opinion you do try to KILL HTC as what else are you trying here, you think you will get a new phone with opening this thread?
Anyway you did made your point as I understand it's useless to answer people like you.
You too, have a nice day.

Help! Little Ripple/Screen Flex Different Issue

Need some help! Now as its been just more than a year using my htc one x. I called customer service centre here in New Delhi, India... that my one x's screen from some places on left (top to bottom) corner side if pressed little hard gives pixel liquid flowing called the ripple/screen flex issue, and on the right side its still perfectly hard n fine. I told them I feel the gum is just loose or something, but they are dumb for money telling me whole screen will be replaced for 7,500 Inr (123.480 USD), When there's nothing wrong with it in normal usage at all! Something less needs to be done I guess ?!?!
Should I continue this way?! As its still fine no fluid when using normally or playing games .
Suggestions, Help from everywhere are welcome please! I Love Xda!
Or Is there a way I can get repairs done from somewhere else in New Delhi(For my indian friends) ?! But should be more good at this than disgusting customer service centres here in India .
Regards .

Duo camera always not working; Fail repair service

Hi guys. I got my One M8, WWE Asia version (CID HTC__044) on April 6, a day after it was released in Singapore. Unfortunately, someone else, while admiring my phone, dropped it screen face-down and it cracked. I sent it in for repair on the 12th of June, and the customer service officer said it would take about 2-4 days for the repair to finish. I ended up getting back my phone on the 21st, with all the data in it gone. Lucky I had made a backup with Titanium Backup.
However, not only was all the data gone, they replaced the main board, and it was S-ON and locked again. Then I realised that the proximity and brightness sensors were messed up, and I had to send it in within two days of getting back my phone. Another three days without my phone.
Now, I realised that the Duo camera on my phone isn't working. I covered it and tried to take a shot, and the message 'don't cover Duo camera' didn't pop up. No Duo effects work, on photos I take now, such as UFocus. This wasn't a problem before I sent it in for repair.
This seems a lot of trouble to go to just for a cracked screen, and it isn't what I expected from HTC customer service. I even asked for a phone replacement but they refused. If I'd known that HTC customer service (at least in Singapore) was this bad, I would've gotten an iPhone.
I got the M8 because I really like HTC's phones, ever since I got my first HTC, the Sensation XE. Right now, my main question is, is there any way I can diagnose and solve this problem myself without having to send it in and then having some other problem? HTC Customer Service seems intent on not wanting to replace the phone. Neither do they seem to properly fix the phone either.
I'm really frustrated, and I'm an inch from stomping up to their office and swearing the heck out of them (even though it isn't the officers' faults, yes, I'm just being irrational). Their repair service seems really bad for a full-fledged company. I think I would've done better at some budget, road-side repair shop that costs thirty bucks. Please, help.
First of all, never ever let someone else, especially one with butter fingers, handle your expensive new phone.
Seriously, why did they feel a need to replace the motherboard too? Is the phone that you got back the same one that you sent in, or could it be that they sent back a refurb. Either way it won't matter because your phone is not working like it is supposed to even after they supposedly "fixed" it twice, probably with refurb parts that have not been thoroughly tested. If they continue to play hard ball and tell you to go pound sand, I would take it to their social media and raise a stink about it there. From my experience, that is the fastest way to get results and hopefully a resolution.
Good luck.
Thanks for the reply. I'll give them a last chance (three times the charm?), and send in my phone on Monday. If they replace it, great. If not, and they do another bang-up job, I'm going to both HTC's international and Singapore Facebook pages and copy the rant over and see what they say.
About the motherboard, according to the CS officer, it was standard procedure to replace just about anything in the phone when the screen cracks. I attribute this to the low repairability of the phone itself - refer to iFixit.
I don't really want to give bad reviews about companies that I really like (HTC is one of them; as mentioned, I feel their phones are truly the best among Androids), but this kind of horrible CS is driving me crazy; I've never had such a bad experience.
P.S. On the bright side, HTC Singapore has this pick-up and delivery service that saves me the twenty-five minute train ride with a transfer included, to their service centre. I just have to call them, and the courier is at my doorstep within a couple of hours. I've got to give credit where it's due.
