CM10 B13 - HTC One V

This might be one the n00biest questions ever posted. But where the hell is the enter button on the keyboard? I'm currently in the stock text messaging app, texting to a friend of mine & for the the life of me cannot find the damn enter button? ... Help? Lol

Key below Backspace/erase. Last key of the keyboard

It's there for you in the stock text messaging app? Everywhere else (like right now as I type this from my phone) I do seen the enter button below the backspace button. But only in the stock text messaging app there is no enter button under the back space button.. only a Smiley's button that let's me put a face when I tap it, but gives me the option of choosing many emoticons when I hold it.. no enter button lol

You're right, it doesn't appear on the messaging app, you have to press the arrow shaped button next to the text field to send.

home page shortcut and t9 always on.

Hi again. Is there a button I've missed that takes me to my homepage whilst using the browser, instead of pressing the menu key and having to select home. Most browsers usually have a home icon at the top of the screen but I can't see it here.
Also is there a way to set t9 to be on all the time what ever app I'm using.
Thanks
Dion.
Nobody got a fix for either one of these problems.
Thanks
Dion

CM7 keyboard

I've had this problem on every iteration of CM7 thus far where occasionally after entering my message, whether in a text message or search engine, the keyboard will stay maximized rather than disappearing as it normally would. The only way I can get rid of it is to press back and reenter my search or exit by pressing the home key and then navigate back. Anyone else encountered this?

try pressing t and then swiping down. you need to press for about half a second before swiping. also try holding the menu key.

Well at that point he'd have to press back, because long pressing the key brings up the keyboard; unless I interpreted it incorrectly.

not a long press. about half a second. then swipe your finger down to the spacebar. the keyboard will disappear on stock gb kb. or just hold the menu button. it will also disappear.

i miss my long-press search :(

i used to use chompsms quick compose ALL the time but alas no more with the horrible 3 button layout :\ i tried using the buttonremapper tool but sooner or later i end up needing one of buttons i remapped has anyone found a work-around for this dilemma? I hope the skyrocket HD comes out within 30 days because i will go and pick that ***** up
I thought long-pressing the menu button calls up the search box...

yup holding the menu button does summon the search box and in certain apps, like boat browser, it actually summons voice command.
I could be wrong, but if google search is uninstalled (frozen), long press doesn't work with any apps...
the reason i posted this was because for quick compose with chompSMS

Playing with Root and Keymapping

I was thinking since we have root and we have a Hardware Keyboard it would be nice to actually have a Hardware button for the Camera.
So I started Searching around on how to do it. I found an application that claimed to be able to do it called "buttonremapper". Unfortunately this program only sees the Menu and back button. 2 buttons I do not wish to remap.
I did find a program called Keynrtracker on XDA that allows me to see the ID's of every button pressed including the Hardware buttons.
I researched a little more and found where the Key mapping files are located:
"system/usr/keylayout"
In here, there are many files that have to do with the keyboard. I found the one to modify is the:
"STMPE_keypad.kl"
this file has all the keys and I simply wanted to change the Search button from the keypad to bring up the Camera so I did this:
key 217 CAMERA WAKE_DROPPED
where previously 217 was:
key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED
"Wake dropped" is to tell the button to wake up if asleep or not.
Make sure you backup before have root and save. Reboot to load changes.
Well it now works I have a Hardware Camera button. One thing I noticed is I have to Hard press the button and hold not just click. Anyone know why? Added benefit is once the camera app is open, it also takes pictures by pressing on that same button.

nice ^__^
It sounds like you re-mapped long press search, which normally goes to google search, which is why you may have to hold it down longer. Does a short press bring up the normal search menu?

Short press on its own does nothing. Pressing it with any other key does a normal search.

I'm assuming, you want to have it set as a 1 key touch operation instead of setting it up in quick launch configuration like Search + C.
pics can be taken using the OK button by default.

Agreed 1 touch I also like the ability of knowing I can change any key on the keyboard like that useless "www.com"button.

[Q] How to multi-task while on a call

Is there anyway to switch to another app while on a call?
On Sony Xperia, one can press "home" key to switch to the home screen and start another app while continue to talk on the phone, but on Note 2 the call screen stay on no matter which key is press. Can anyone tell me if this is normal.

Maybe a other dialer helps? I've not tested it on standard. Go Contacts EX (dialer and contacts). I can dial and press home there.

No, what I meant is when you are already in a call. How to you get to check emails, SMS message or even play games at the same time when you are speaking to someone. I can not switch out of the contact's screen as it simply locks up the screen no matter which key is pressed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
I am using the Note 2 LTE
I just tested my phone..while on call..I pressed the home button..my dialer went away and my home page appeared. I am using stock rooted rom with go launcher.

What I mean is that during a call I can just press home, then open what ever I like. It works with Go Contacts anyway. I just tried it. Opened up Gmail without issues. See the green area in the top?
