Keychain USB sync cable - Galaxy S III Accessories

I am wondering if anyone has experience with these charger and sync cables that are small enough to carry on your keychain. I found a few different ones online, but I'm not sure how they perform in syncing data and wear/tear from being attached with keys. I want this cable on my everyday carry so I can use the external microsd card on my phone as a UMS for videos and music, instead of a usb thumb drive.
I can't post any outside links but the kinds of strap/keychain cables I'm currently looking at is from DracoDesignUSA, Scosche, and OrientEX

I have zero experience with these..sorry but I am in the market for one too. I was thinking something rigid without cables.
I found more of them here..flip through a few pages: http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?SearchText=micro+usb+keychain&IndexArea=product_en&fsb=y

Those look good, but I'm worried about their syncing abilities. I have some cables that can only charge my device and do not sync when connected to a computer or media player.

I decided to buy the iGo Keyjuice charger for micro and mini usb http://www.amazon.com/iGo-PS00291-0001-KeyJuice-Charger-Micro/dp/B004NEULF8 for $7.88 with free Amazon Prime shipping, which I got the next day. I keep this on a detachable clip with my keys, so it's pretty nice having a usb cable whenever I go out with my phone. Perfect for my everyday carry.
Review: This cable is exactly what I was looking for and I did a lot of research in other portable cables and straps. The iGo keyjuice can charge my phone and sync data with no problems.

The micro and mini usb adapter folds in easily and snaps together to keep the whole thing secure.
The micro usb cable is about 2.5 inches long, a little short but works well.

I was worried it was going to be hard for me to take the pieces apart, as some reviews stated, but I'm not experiencing any problems with taking the pieces apart and putting them back together. The only negative I have is the way the usb adapter is L-shaped, making it capable of blocking other ports on my laptop or not fitting because other things are in the way.
I haven't tested transfer speeds or charging times with this cable yet, but this thing is great so far.

It would have to be a powered USB hub. Besides that, it could work. Although, you're not likely to get much computing power out of it... meaning not much word processing or any heavy tasks, really. I'd guess that HD video would probably be out of the question. IMO you'd be better off getting a low end netbook.
Thanks! Yeah just looking to be able to go home and be able to write text with a keyboard and watch youtube videos and such. Maybe even build a docking station with a wooden box or something to hold all the wires. My biggest dilemma is the HDMI cable going through the USB hub.

Yeah, you might sacrifice a bit of resolution like that. I'm not sure you can carry 1080p through USB.
But for the basics, email, surfing, texting and youtube...I think it'd work
on the side of that mhl adaptor it looks like there is a micro usb port and a search on ebay had similar, so plug the mhl directly into the phone and then hdmi to tv/monitor and the micro usb on the side of the mhl to the usb hub.
if the above is not the case then
i would elimnate that gender adaptor coming from the hub out to the female usb to female micro usb, just get a male usb to female micro usb.
the last time i check usb hosting was not supported? pls tell me im wrong tho

Are you sure the device supports simultaneous multiple BT connections?
Also, there are more comfortable BT keyboards out there. I've got the HP, it's got the same spacing/layout as my 15" laptop.
I have simultaneous connections to my Moto S9 headset (music playing), keyboard and mouse. No problems. The music skips once when you connect another device but then everything works perfect.
A bigger keyboard would be nice but this one was cheap.
The mouse is great with android. Right mouse button goes back. Middle mouse is menu. Scroll wheel works great.

Excellent. I didn't mean to sound accusative, I just wasn't sure the multiple device support was there.
Then yeah, @the OP, I'd definitely use BT, too!!
The HP kb rocks, and I got mine (an open box display) for around $20.
This is what I want to do as well. Has anyone been able to get host mode to work with external storage on a non-ICS ROM?

Review of Inateck 4-port USB3.0 hub + OTG w/lots of pics!!!

This is a review of Inateck HB4004G 4-port USB3.0 hub with OTG. http://www.inateck.com/inateck-hb4004g-4-port-usb-3-0-hub-otg/ - finally available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJUDTBK/
I always look at my Note 2 as a compact portable computer. It can do almost everything my laptop can, and it fits in my pocket. But on some occasions when I need to access my work email and do quite a bit of typing, virtual keyboard and touch screen navigation might not be convenient. I'm sure a lot of you might feel the same, especially when you try to convert your tablet into a "laptop". Though you have an option of bluetooth wireless keyboard, often those are too compact for comfortable typing. If your phone or tablet supports OTG, you can get OTG usb cable and attach the keyboard. What about mouse? And how about external usb flash drive for file storage? Or maybe a fast USB3.0 external hard drive for a faster file transfer? Different solutions are available, but not as compact as the one I just had a chance to review. Here is what I found.
Straight from Germany, finally I'm starting to see Inateck offering their products on Amazon US as well as other worldwide places. The product arrived in a compact package with a clear description of the features and specifications. Out of the box, its a very lightweight and compact hub, about 4.3" x 1.3" - easy to pack while you are traveling or just on the go. Yes, this little hub is perfect for "on the go" because in addition to USB cable, it comes with a detachable OTG usb to micro-usb adapter. If you want to connect it to your laptop, detach the adapter (it's actually attached to a cable with a cord so you don't loose it) and plug in the main USB cable connector. Otherwise, attach OTG adapter and connect it to your smartphone or tablet. The available 4 ports are partitioned with 3 at the top, spaced generously to accommodate different usb connectors, and one port on the side to attach any device without connector space limitation.
My Note 2 recognized the device right away, and as I was adding a mouse, a keyboard, and usb flash drive - I got correct notifications for each attached peripheral device. There just one drawback, the OTG adapter was too wide to be attached to my Note 2 with a case, so I had to take my case off. For someone with a tablet, that typically won't be a problem. Also, I noticed that adapter itself is made out of rubbery material which I'm sure can be trimmed to give you a few extra mils of clearance in order to use it with a case. I didn't do it with this adapter, but I have done similar trimming in the past with some of my external battery chargers that had attached micro-USB connector. Another thing to keep in mind, this USB hub will be powered by your host, so you can't exceed USB3.0 max 5V/900mA rating. I saw no issue connecting keyboard/mouse/flash drive, but if you are planning to attach external hard drive make sure it's powered up externally.
Overall, I was very impressed considering this is 4-port high speed USB3.0 hub, very compact, and with included OTG attachment. Though adapter didn't quite worked with my phone case, I will do a little DIY later to trim it. Currently being offered for $16.99, I also think it's a pretty good value for USB3.0 hub.
Here are the pictures.

Choetech mini dual USB car charger – Review

Choetech is known for their wide range of smartphone accessories. Here I have the new mini dual USB car charger in for review. Not all car chargers are the same and the Choetech mini car charger is one to stand out from the crowd.
Specs:
Auto Detected Charging Port: 5V/2.4A Max
Quick Charge & Auto Detected Charging Port: 5V 2.1A/ 9V 2A/ 12V 1.5A
Dimensions:1.1 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches
Weight:20g
The packaging was nice as most companies are going for the recyclable packaging, with the cardboard box and cover sleeve. In the box was the mini dual USB car charging device and they also included a flat style 2ft USB to micro USB cable which is always a bonus when it comes to mobile accessories like battery packs and chargers. My initial impression of the products was that it was very small in fact it is smaller than my old USB car charger which had a coiled micro USB cable build in.
As for design and hardware, it has a smooth glossy black plastic body (it comes it white as well). Even though you won’t be taking this in and out of the car, it isn’t much of a fingerprint magnet which is a good thing, as I really can’t stand fingerprints! The best thing about this product is its size, as it is smaller than most of the other car chargers on the market and is lightweight and portable. This means that you can easily fit it into your pocket, and or transfer it from one car to the other on the fly with no hassle.
One of the best features of the mini charger is having dual USB ports instead of the one, this can be handy when traveling. In addition to this, when charging my phone it has a dedicated port for quick charging as only my Nexus 6 supports it. But also when it comes to charging my dad’s, sisters or moms phone, I like the fact that it has this ‘Auto Detect’ feature this means that the car charger will automatically detect the type of charge (voltage/power) that goes into your device(s) which are plugged in. This is very important because it helps to prevent overheating and overcharging that could potentially damage your device.
The USB cable which comes in the box is a flat cable which means that it doesn’t get tangled easily, saying that it is shorter than a standard 3ft cable so this helps with it being tangle free. As there is nothing more annoying than tangled cables. When you are done using it you can easily stow it away safely as it takes up very little space. Overall, you can’t go wrong with this charger. Not only is it small so it is basically hidden, it also blends into central units in most cars. If you have a smartphone and you have trouble keeping it alive throughout the day, I would definitely recommend this product.
At the time of this post it is only $15.99 on Amazon. Product Link

Nylon USB Cables

Hi,
My Samsung and apple usb chargers are absolute crap so I was looking at these new Nylon braided USB cables which are:
- at least 2x in length;
- much more durable;
- boast that they charge and sync at 2.4A which is significantly higher than the stock samsung and apple chargers.
Pretty sure you can buy reversible and micro USB cables also.
Has anyone had experience with these?
Here's an example product I found which seems great in value and holds the above specs:

my Samsung and apple usb chargers are absolute crap
I use a samsung 2 Amp charger, which has a usb socket in it – for charging my table and/or mobile phone. What do you mean crap? I haven't had one fail, and works as expected. So is this thread relating to the charger itself? Or relating to usb cables? For my charger, the charger has a usb socket – so you could put whatever kind of cable you want on it.
DO ...NOT ...BUY
I have had several ...
1. The contact is poorly molded. The micro-usb contact will soon pop out of the mold and break off.
2. The sleeve does nothing at all. It just looks cool.. the poor way the cable and contacts is molded it does not make the cable stronger.
3. Even how much the information emphasize that the cable can transfer more amperes this is not the case... All sleeve kind of usb cables I have had stalled at about 450mAh.
The best cables are the one that is not fitted with "bling bling" all around or brag about its quality.
I recommend you to instead buy a classic cable http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5458&seq=1&format=2
This has:
Ferrite Core. Most people doesn't know what this round brick around the cable does anyway..
28/24AWG ..you can bend it all you want. It won't break. Also allow for more current to pass.
Gold plated. Does nothing but looks good..it will scratch off after a month from inserting and removing.
Note: The cables from monoprice isn't something special. They are only a retailer. The cables are manufactured in china.
It is a very nice usb cable. I had it for days and still works great.

Compatible Micro USB Cables for the Swift

Hi everyone.
As you have probably realised, the USB port on the swift is slightly deeper than the standard.
I thought it would be useful to start this thread with cables that I have tried and whether they worked.
Asus Nexus 7 2012 Micro USB cable, works perfectly, this port is also a little recessed.
Anker Braided, fits fine but doesn't have the same hold on the port as the original or the N7. But better than most.
Aukey Micro USB, these are cheap and fit like the original WileyFox cable. I hadn't heard of them before, image below to help interested parties find them.

OnePlus Micro USB cable, I figured it was the same as the WileyFox cable as visually similar design, I had one from my old OnePlus One, it is not the same reach though.
In short, I think any 8mm cable will do the trick, share any others that you have found below.
I use RAVpower 5 pack. It fits perfectly and I have 5 different lengths.

Hey
When my swift cable broke I switched to a Lumia 520 USB cable. That cable has a nice hold to the swift.
The cable provided with my girlfriend's RavPower external battery is a perfect fit.
@silasnicholls , could you post a link for the 5 pack?

This is UK and very cheap.
Thank you, @silasnicholls !
my Sony USB from my last phone (Experia Miro) works fine, the one for mt Sony RX-100 is touch and go as it's a little shorter.
I've not had any issues with USB's for phones so far
from a mech eng point of view I'm not a fan of the Wiley USB as a longer male terminal means it's more likely to damage the internals if it gets a whack as it has more leverage, hence I only use the WileyWhite at home. The Miro USB gets used most, plugged into my works PC
Just an update to this; these from Amazon UK are spot on and fit perfectly; https://www.amazon.co.uk/iTALKonlin...4738&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+cable+wileyfox+swift
Anker Cables seem to fit nicely. I got mine bundled with the PowerCore 10000.
Any rubber cables I have such as the one I had for my S2 I just cut off a bit of the end and now the cable fits fine. Although my Oneplus X cable works without any modifications
