Would you leave the GS3 for this......? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I was wondering if anyone would consider this over the gs3 since it is coming to Sprint. I have never owned an LG phone, so I am not familiar with their build quality. Do they typically run with a UI overlay like touchwiz?
I would consider it just to try something other than Samsung, even though I love the gs3. I may pass the galaxy s3 to the wife, get this with her upgrade, and trade back if I don't like it.

Nope Samsung supports users with everything they need pretty much. Unlike LG they forgot about their first dual core which was the g2x aka Optimus 2x and never supported it. And when they released GB it was just a half assed version wiped clean. After their poor support for that phone ill never get LG again. They never support their phones. Not even flagships

Most LG phones typically suck one way or another. Their flagship phone end up having a bunch of problems specs-wise and build-quality wise. Most LG phones break within a year with normal use.
Also, I have a 2 year contract with Sprint. Even if the best phone ever comes out, I can't switch for 2 years...

i might consider that phone the galaxy series wasn't always good the first series vibrant, fascinate, epic had horrible blue screens horrible battery life and they died easily i had five replaced vibrant in a year . Samsung sent me a different model phone .

My epic was just fine. I still keep it as a backup.

Would not buy. As a previous poster mentioned, LG can make a phone that looks great but is damaged goods beneath the shining veneer.

Damn, I was hoping with these specs to hear something good about lg and that this this would be something to consider, but a lot of negative feelings towards LG phones. Maybe we will get the note 2 and that will be a better phone to try out.

My gf lg g2x was a nightmare, even rooted. I'll never buy lg again either. They justwwiped their hands of it too.

I just got rid of a POS LG Optimus T.... I will never get another LG phone unless its the old CDMA flip phones.

Buying an lg phone is like meeting a gorgeous chick at a bar, taking her home all excited and all, then taking her clothes off to realize it isn't what you've bargained for. Then, spend the next year in therapy.

My dad had the LG Optimus S and it had an internal storage glitch that forced him to factory reset the phone to use the phone.
That's an entry level phone but I think it's sad that LG didn't show any support for him (nor did Sprint, for that matter...)

Every lg phone sprint carries is crap. New optimus is full of issues, just like the kls one. Viper, joke. Lg kept saying that even though it was released with 2.3, 4.0 is around the corner. Not a single update. Sad, other than display, device was pretty solid. I also was one of the ones with g2x. Loved build quality, but antenna issues and software made me want to throw it against the wall, even rooted it had so many issues.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app

I'd buy it. My gf has a viper. Dirt cheap not tip top but the thing is rock solid and yes built well not so much as one issue.
I think LG is gonna improve and with the krait s4 I think most of the truly bad choices for chips they could throw in are off the table.

I wouldn't touch it right now based on my history of having issues with LG phones and also all of the other complaints about LG. Plus I'm happier than a pig in **** with my S3. However, if it does come as that article states, I think we can all agree that the ante has been upped bigtime with the quad core, camera, etc so that just means that HTC and Sammy will be upping their game even more so when our contracts are up there will be even bigger and better toys out there to choose from.

Verizon sending Galaxy S3

Well I received a call from a VZW supervisor asking how has my experience been with the Nexus. I stated that it has locked up a few times but the main thing that upsets me has been the update times. They apologize and say they can send me an S3 if I would like that. I gladly said yes. This is what she said " we are calling customers with the nexus that have been with VZW for more than 10 years because we have received many complaints. We value our customers and want to take care of you." What do you guys think about this

do you have to send the nexus back? if not, its awesome.
Of course they would have to send the Nexus back. They're not just going to hand you another phone for free. They are going to swap it out!
Yeah I have to send the nexus back. But I was saving up to get a GSM version. Can I use Google talk to use both phones at the same time?

probably the international S3
I downgraded from an S3 to a GNexus and let me tell you, that phone is terrible. Its too big and yet it feels like cardboard ready to break at any second. The build quality was **** and the volume buttons felt like they would pop out any second. On top of that the Touchwiz that comes with is on par with low-budget LG phones. I mean the thing wouldn't stop trying to upload my photos to G+ even after i told it 50 times to stop. You can't get rid of the "Wi-Fi available" bull**** and the whole top of notification bar is ful of other retarded **** that I never used, you literally have like 1/2 of the notifications filled with useless crap. The keyboard is also modified to **** it comes with swype which has autocorrect but if you get tired of swype and go back to normal keyboard it suddenly loses its auto-correct. Overall I hated the phone and i'm glad I got the GNexus.
I feel like they may be doing this to try and get rid of nexus updates altogether by offering s3 they can just say Samsung is your problem with the nexus one it hits aosp it really shouldn't take much time to get to the end user I think Verizon is tired of supporting this phone.

Love this kind of rants I always plan to make one myself but there's too much to write...still, the touchwiz is pure ****, it looks fugly (mms app?) and breaks some cool features of ICS/JB ...but one thing I like from the samsung firmwares is the super smoothness, I don't understand why google doesn't implement those bits in aosp code

He was using an E4GT then i had a guy offer me a brand new galaxy nexus for a really good price. So i bought it. Before my son even had w chance with it i put it back in the box to sell. Not only dose my s3 blow that thing away but so dose my E4GT. The phone just seems sluggish i hate the app set up and videos on netflix just took way to long to load. Heres proof so you dont think im a s3 fanboy making up a story. Oh and the camera is horrible on the nexus also

I think your biggest problem is Sprint, not the phones you have
I would have told the CSR that I'll take a phone I can unlock and do whatever I want with over one that they locked down. Tell them to call back when they're offering the developer edition, which will likely never actually see the light of day.
Have you guys tried Jellybean? Do it and then tell me you hate the Nexus...you won't. It's buttery smooth with Franco's kernel and battery life is great. I had an Epic Touch and it was a great phone, but you can't give those things away...they made millions of them and that $99 bogo special doesn't help resale. I put $100 with mine and traded for a 4s and sold it for $400. People are having problems getting $200 for the Epic. Traded another 4s for an Evo lte then for my Nexus. Lte is a good phone but feels like its gonna break in half, plus I had a 1.15 hboot. Nexus' camera isn't the greatest, but it's a phone camera remember...I would however trade my Nexus for an S3

well if i get the option to change my nex for an S3 id go for it, and flash cm10 (i know you guys are gonna say cm10 is not the same on the nex than on any other phone) but id jus enjoy the slighly better hardware for a bit until the next nexus(es) come out in november, then id be back in the nexus line again
If this is true its not a good sign. If they decide not to carry the next nexus I will likely be moving on. Honestly I would have told them no. To me the s3 is not really much of an upgrade. The only advantage is the processor and camera.

Why do you believe that to be the case when it's nearly identical to the Nexus 4 and the bootloader has already been unlocked?
Patience is a virtue my friend, and you do have choices. I see the progress being made with the boot loader and root, as well as an AIO tool already completed, man once these roms get rolling you'll regret not having one.

I was thinking about getting the evo lte but I'm now leaning more to the optimus. Is it really that good?? I'm coming from using an evo 3d...
I really want to get it but I'm still not sure.. Thanks for the help..
As of right now my opinion is this. The phone is solid. The corners are kind of harsh. The hardware is fantastic. Surprisingly from what I have heard in the past on LG the ui is pretty good.
At the moment it has the best specs on Sprint period.
Now, when our comes to development, we will have to wait and see. It is the 4th highest selling Android oem on the 3rd largest provider. From that it is easy to say the S3 on At&t gets more attention. This will also never get the following of the Nexus. But, it does have development.
I would get it. You can also wait for the Flossy seal of approval if you like.

This phone is awesome, I've played Need for Speed Most Wanted, Dark Knight Rises,Asphalt 7, Minecraft, and Modern Combat 4, this phone flies, it gets really hot that's the only issue but that doesn't affect performance at all. Stock UI is surprisingly nice. Screen is amazing. Development hasn't been good but I have no doubt that Roms, Kernels, and Mods will come with due time.

Just bought this beast an hour ago, already rooted and transferring my stuff from my Epic 4G. I compared the LG Mach because I didn't want to give up my physical keyboard ( :crying: ) but in the end the dual-core vs. quad-core was no comparison! Plus, $99 at Best Buy was a steal (Sprint store wouldn't price match).
Like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari!
Switched from AT&T and the Motorola Atrix 4G to Sprint and the LG Optimus G and so far, I haven't regretted switching from AT&T to Sprint and from the Motorola Atrix 4G to the LG Optimus G. Can't wait for JellyBean on this phone. Decided to switch to Sprint since Sprint is the only carrier that now offers truly unlimited data.
Just nabbed the last one today @ BB for $99! Loving it so far. Was originally gonna get the Note 2 but the price won't drop. I couldn't resist this deal. Looking forward to the ROMS!
Got this phone yesterday, traded my s3 for it. Loving it so far, since I've hated the S3 as soon as I got it. Evo LTE was nice too had it for 2 months but the 1gb of RAM was killing me with Sense.
Haven't tinkered with it yet but thinking of just stock rooting just for getting rid of the Ads.

Optimus G Sells 1M Units?

Just saw this online. To be fair, this is probably 1M worldwide, but the phone has not yet been released in China or Europe, and that is still a not insignificant amount of handsets in the quarter or so since the release date. If they keep bringing premium handsets like the OG to market LG could easily knock HTC or Motorola out of their spot in the Android Ecosystem. Samsung is likely not to be moved from it's spot any time soon, but it's impressive for a company that the average consumer doesn't even consider when thinking of an Android phone. Maybe they should buy some airtime and run some commercials :silly:
I'm sure LG can make a mark on the smartphone market especially after this phone. When I first got my epic 4g, Samsung had a crap reputation in both their software and their updates. This was a time when HTC was the big player. On top of that, they now got the most active community, something else HTC had. If Samsung can rise out from the bottom like that, anyone can, they just gotta play their cards right.
Man time sure flies, I had that phone for 2 years and I chose the underdog again, lol.

I knew so many people who got the Optimus S.
It was free and a great phone. We had so much support for that little thing. I remember we even had ICS when we barely got GB from LG.
They took forever to release it and it was very buggy. So they had to release a downgrade back to Froyo.
I loved it and still working for my brother. 2+ years.
Now with the OG this phone is a beast. I almost never get a lag and games play well. I love the fact that it has 2GB ram so I could truely multitask. So if more people see why we got this phone than LG may put more support and even more people will like it, etc

Yeah the Epic development was slow at first as well. We didn't get CM7 going til slightly before CM9 due to lack of source.
I actually think by lowering the price of this phone will be good for getting more units to users hands and in turn will create more developing.
I've been watching Ebay this past weekend and it seems unreal that one could land such a great phone like our OG for around $325.
It wouldn't be long before people realize how much more of a bargain it is to just pick up this phone over anything Sprint currently has to offer.

Love this phone

I have owned literally EVERY high end android device that has been available in the US. Even some that haven't for that matter. But this is by far the best device i've ever owned. It excels in every area. The display is phenomenal, the specs are top notch, and the real world use is where it should be considering the power this thing flaunts. As far as smoothness and fluidity go it's in a league of its own. I've had the note 2, i've had the one x+, I've had the dna, and they cant even hold a candle to this device. All we need now is for some of the awesome devs we have to pump out some JB ROM's and we're golden. The dev support is there though. With all those things considered, I'm going as far as to say this is the best phone ever made IMHO. Thoughts anyone?

Severely doubt that rumor. Samsung is Android's Apple. They will bump as minimally as possible to sell the next model. Quad core, 2gb ram, 16gb storage. Book it.
This phone is the best on the market outside of the Nexus 4. If we can get past this bootimg bull**** from Sprint and LG we'll have a really fun phone. HTC Evo had a very slow takeoff as well, and before you knew it there were too many roms. We're almost there and I love it.

I can honestly say this is he best I've had so far. At first I was considering the iPhone 5, but too many people at my job had it. Did a lot of research on this phone and saw a lot of people bashing it before it even came out. When the phone was released I went to sprint to get a feel for he phone and they didn't even have it on display! No love was given to this phone at first. I took the leap and bought it at bestbuy anyway. Best decision I made as far as picking a phone. My brother got the gs3 and when I showed him my phone he liked the lgog more. Not to mention his phone is always on the charger as opposed to mine lol. Glad this phone is getting some love tho.

At my school (I'm a teenager) everyone has either iPhones or Galaxy or an older android. No one honestly has the Optimus G, as far as I can see.
And everyone is like "I LOVE YOUR PHONE!!!" I am very happy I got this phone.
At first I didn't want it with rumors being LG wasn't the greatest and....no removable backing. But I bought it and it was the best decision ever.
Only thing that would make it better is if the JB update came to my area already

This may be shallow of me but love how the phone feels in my hand-the form and solid feel of the build. Just feels very well made. How well it works is just a bonus!

Agreed. I almost didn't want to put a case on it because I like the feel of the phone. A case is a must tho.

[Galaxy s5]Talk/Rumors.

Anyone sticking around for the s5(or whatever the next s phone in the series is?) I got this phone a year late, and since everybody else is getting the s4, I was wondering if anyone is still gonna hold out for the s5.
This would be VERY cool if this is indeed a "leak." http://www.itechpost.com/articles/9801/20130527/samsung-galaxy-s5-specs-leaked-early.htm
What do you think? What will the next galaxy phone have? Will it be worth it to stick around?

Lol s5 leaks? The gs4 JUST came out like a month ago... but these seem like somewhat reasonable specs...

I'll be on the s2 for a year in September, and it'll be another year after that before I am eligible for upgrade.
By then, the s4 will probably be free, so that's probably my next phone.

Had this phone for about a year and a half. Don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. This phone has not lagged once on me and I have not seen either S3 or s4 as upgrade-worthy

Ditto here. My mom just got the S4, despite my protestations. She doesn't even know how to use half the features on her old phone. I tried to talk her into getting the S3 for 1/4 of the price, but she wouldn't listen.
My upgrade is up Oct 1 and I plan to get whatever is best at that time but nothing as large as the note 3. I think a 5" screen size is perfect for an all around device. Possibly the LG Optimus G2 or Motorola X. Still waiting for news on both.
I skipped the S3 b/c I think it wasn't a major-enough upgrade. But I got the S4 right when the preorders went live. I'll be using my upgrade for the S5 when it comes out, most likely. Kept my S2 as my backup phone and mom & wifey's still rocking the S2.
Im going to get my s4 tomorrow but im still torn between that and the note 2....

Windows phone, this android stuff is getting a little boring.
Just put girlfriend on my plan, and i got her the s3 for $30 on amazon. She keeps asking me "how do i _____" But it is one smooth phone! my upgrade is up next may, and you better believe im going to save money for the beefed up s5. (unless something else better comes out, which might be the new motorola phone. but i really enjoy sammys!)
Thank you woody for seeing the light. Because you just use android as you would an iphone. I bet you are not unlocking the full customization of the phone. Yeah for you maybe go simple. Such as iphone or microsoft. Hell even a flip phone. Goodbye now

If I ever bought a phone with a display bigger than 5 inches, please PUNCH MY FACE.

Great news on the design, but no removeable battery is pretty much a deal breaker. How does Samsung not realize what their best features are? Seriously, the removable battery and SD card slot are the core design features that separates their product from the crap Apple puts out.

I like how right after the article it has a link that says "Innovation Is Still At Apple's Core" sure it is... the only thing they've done since Jobs died is copy Android features.
Team Rejectz
my contract ends in october so if the g5 is reported to be within 6 months of that ill probably go with it, if not then ill probably get a s4 or htc one
