Any colored screen protectors besides Mercury ? - Galaxy S III Accessories

In my quest to turn my pebble blue phone black without adding any bulk I ordered a black colored screen protector from Mercury. I don't have any complaints about the coverage or quality of the protector, but the black isn't truly black. It has little white sparkles all over it that makes it look glittery. Does anyone know where I can get a truly black colored screen protector ?

Oh that's nice. I already have a carbon fiber skin on the back so that front and button sticker would be nice to match it.

yes, but the quality isn't as good as the mercury, it doesn't cover the edge, and the top and bottm of the home key and speaker are not covered.

sounds like a common plan. the advantage of the CF vinyl is that it doesn't have to EXACTLY match anything, due to the texture. now that i have a red draco bumper, i am considering going that route too.

They are nice, but they dont cover the entire screen. They just cover the bezel around the visible screen realestate.
If your fine with that, you might want to check out decalgirl aswell. Many different styles aswell as plain color options available in a gloss or matte finish. You can also contact to design your own custom print.

[Review] Mercury Screen Protector: Changing Black to White

Not many of us have the white SGS2, whilst not absolutely fond of it when I got my SGS2, the white is growing on me...
I saw the Mercury Screen Protector which would change the front face of the phone to white, I just had to get it...
I got it locally for about 10NZD (about $7USD), quite surprised for the price it also came with an extra all clear screen protector and cleaning cloth. On the package, it did not mention it was matte finish except it mentions being "fingerprint prevention"...
Overall, the quality is actually very good, the cut is very precise and accurate the front camera, ear piece and home buttons are cut correctly...
Things that I dont like is a small Mercury logo on the top right of the screen protector...It is not as thick as the similar SGP protector but doesnt have the touch sensitivity issue...as it is basically a coloured screen protector and that it does not come with white sticker to go over the home button, hence still black where as the SGP one does come with a sticker to go over the home...
Highly recommended to all looking to do some colour changing...I belive they also come in different colours...Some photos below...with the white Mercury Screen Protector and silver SGP Neo Hybrid...
Care to share where exactly you got this beauty from? I know naming the links would be an offence but "clues" ?

this is the link which I purchased mine off but I dont think the seller does international postage. Have a search for it on Ebay...lol
just a heads up, when applying these the backlights from the back and menu button become invisible/blocked - unlike the sgp glas which is clear over the buttons (and light is visible).
and yeah get em off ebay, search mercury galaxy i9100 and should find...usually you can win one with a bid of around $7aud

I have it. Mine is also in white. The anti finger print film is really nice however, I it comes at the cost of giving your screen protector a different smooth matte finish/look. So what that means is that if you are the type of fellow that keeps his nexus at minimal brightness, and don't bother with this protector. The matte finish will make your screen seem not as dark.
Also, for some reason the protector doesn't cover the whole front. It intentionally leaves a black ring of glass around the protector.. It makes it look really nice at the expense of a not fully protected screen. I like mine cus it fits well with my white housing .
Oh right finally on my version (idk if they have another white version) the white portion is has a white flowers texture aka its not completely smooth
Hope this helps

Pictures would be of mighty help, I'd love to pick up something like this and I'm a guy who prefers it the screen to be..brighter rather than dark would that be an issue? how about outdoor readability? and does it create a crappy rainbow effect like cheaper anti glare/ fingerprint protectors?
I went ahead and bought a white 1. I will post pic when it come...I also have the white housing and original button and back cover. Might spray paint those to make my entire phone pure white....99%

[Q] Black Vs Silver Scratching

I've been debating between getting the black vs silver version and I just thought of something this morning. Would scratches be more visible on the black version? I prefer the black version but if after a few months it has a bunch of visible white scratches then I would def prefer to get the silver. What do you guys think?
I want the black version too and now you made me paranoid haha hopefully it isn't silver with black coating
I imagine if the black one gets scratches, it will be silver underneath. If the silver one scratches, it will still be silvery underneath.

I agree, which makes me question black as my intended purchase, but I really think the black is the better look and will just have to try and keep it looking good.
It's stainless steel, not anodized aluminum. It'll take a hell of a lot to scratch it, but I don't know what process they used on the black.

I had a black steel watch years ago while in the military. It was my "work" watch. The black stayed black even after years of abuse. If they use then proper process to make the steel black it should wear just fine.
Thanks for your responses. I'm still not sure. The silver looks great too, so I might just get silver to just avoid the risk.
The best coating on watches is called PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and is (usually) black. If they use that coating then you won't have to worry about it scratching. I hope they use it.
I would like the black version as well, I think it looks good and especially also smaller then the silver one
however, I'm afraid it will scratch quite easily going by the latest pictures form this italian blog
in one of the pictures, imo you can see 2 scratches right next to the strap:
http://www.lucaviscardi.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140805_161039.jpg
could have come from a tool used to change the strap

Might be the lighting, but yeah it looks like scratches to me. I ordered the silver one because of this. For $250 I'm not sure what kind of blackening process we can expect, but I will wait until reviews until I buy a 2nd black one, I'd like to be able to switch between the 2.

a bit off-topic here, but the LG G Watch R seems to use that kind of coating:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrQREak8WgI&feature=player_detailpage#t=185
maybe interesting for all of you who - like myself - are disappointed by the bad inital reports regarding Moto 360's battery life
did u guys saw the gallery from the italian guy that reviewed it last month??
on his gallery it was clearly visible that scratches on the coating revealed the silver underneath
thats why i have now chosen to take the silver even tho the black one is much sexier

My exact thoughts! I have had the Pebble Steel in black and I dropped the thing when I was resizing it and fell on the carpet, and even that put a mark on the stupid band lol. Not a scratch, but the matte black was not matte in the areas where it fell. You couldn't see it straight on, but I knew it was there lol. These are the bands people are now using to replace the stock ones that can be bought at your local Best Buy.
I have a lot of other watches that are stainless/brushed steel so black, even though looks kicks ass wouldn't look so good on me. I'm constantly running into things like my 6 year old lol.
This was my exact thought and bought a silver one. Plus, I'm very used to a silver watch. It tends to go with everything. Black I am sure would too but I feel like silver metal bands are also easier to find in more variety.
I doubt the black watch was painted. Probably power coated or something which is very durable. As for scratches, it depends on how hard you hit it and on what surface. Personally, I'm waiting for tempered glass protectors for the face. I hate scratches on watch faces.
Has anyone gotten a black one yet and noticed any scratches?
If you like the black one but you are afraid of scratches, just get one of these full-body skins: http://www.amazon.com/SkinomiĀ®-TechSkin-Replacement-Definition-Anti-Bubble/dp/B00J400P98
Cheers!
I dropped my black one on tile and nothing happened, I heard the case hit too... also I just scratched at it with a razor blade and you can see little lines in the reflection but it's still black :good:

Could you post some close-up pictures of it? I'm too skeptical about buying a black one for this one reason that I read everywhere telling that the black surface if scratched will reveal the silver.. But I'm so much taken by the black, I wanna buy the black! Confused now!

That's what I would do. ?

White N5

The white N5 mockups look so good! Anyone tried using a dbrand or SlickWraps white front vinyl? Does the edge of the vinyl feel rough to the hand? And how well does it make the phone look white? Also, has anyone tried combining it with a display only screen protector? Does it make the skin and display seamless?
If someone can post any pics, that would be awesome!
TIA

Orzly with lights out

Bought the orzly black for my black /dark htc 10, fitted perfectly.. I'd asked before if there were cutouts for the buttons and was told No!
Well ...... There is and it looks a bit stupid in the light, i almost want to colour them in a bit to hide them..
If you want perfection like me, this isn't it, but. It is the only tempered screen protector that fits full screen and has 100% coverage,if you have the original layout then fair enough, just I don't
Just a shame about the buttons.
PS: I have a mod which turns off the lights and moves back to recent and vice versa, so seeing cut outs for them is a downer.
I finally got the Orzly for my 10 and have to agree with you that the cut outs are weird.
They make it look very cheap and knock off like, I am OK with it but would prefer something else (though unsure what else would be better).
Everything does line up a treat though, impressed by that.
I'm considering ordering one of these, can you post a photo of the buttons?

Yea it fits very well, possible to put something over or under them, if it's over them then it would have to be hard wearing as it'd soon rub off from pressing the buttons.
As far as I know there are no tempered glass edge to edge covers, I've looked long and hard, some have images showing their protectors as if they do, but they don't.
This is the closest. A marker may work but it'd be temporary.
Either that or embrace the lights, personally I swap back and recent which is why its such a killer for me. Guess I'll have to get used to it. Should have painted them before fitting.
Here's my mod for swapping the buttons.

It seems there are two versions and I'm not sure what's meant by cutouts - do you mean actual holes in the glass? My Orzly cover has transparent squares in the black paint over the button areas and it doesn't look that bad to me.

Yes they are what I'm referring to, they do look alright, however as I've said before I switch my buttons so back is recent and vice versa, I've also turned the lights from the buttons completely off so it looks right, these cut outs look terrible for my needs. Not the end of the world but definitely a blemish on a what is otherwise a a sleek looking cover.

My Orzly glass comes with the cutout in the tempered glass. And the oily film is visible beneath the tempered glass except when the screen is ON. But the main issue is the rainbow effect it displays allover the screen whenever we encounter a white colour in screen. I regret purchasing this tempered glass.
