Best news widgets for nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

So I use pulse for news but pulse widget sucks... is big and ugly and is not made for tables... I wonder which news RSS widget do you like or think is best

Give these a look.
Android Pro Widgets with APW Google Reader
Has some nice Holo themes on the Play Store as well (Light | Dark). I believe you need to buy the APW License Key to be able to use the Google Reader app.
Minimal Reader | Minimal Reader Pro

Check out the "Pure" series of widgets. They have a scrollable news widget that is pretty sweet. It has lots of nice skins available, as well.

I am searching Nexus 7 Widget and checked many forums but failed. Please may you help me to solve my issue.

I use (and love) Feedly.
I started using Feedly on PC when it was announced that Google Reader is going to be shut down, and Feedly seemed like the best alternative, and it's also available on Android, and its widget is kind of nice. Not beutiful, just a simple RSS widget, but it gets the job done.

Genie News and Weather widget.

Agenda widget??

Does anyone know what widget is being used in the attached screenshot? I saw it one of the other threads and am not sure which app is that. I know for a fact that it's not the following:
Pure calendar
Agenda widget for android
Simple calendar widget?

Nope not that either
Seems like the LauncherPro Plus Calendar Widget
EDIT: Market Link here
You'll have to purchase the unlocker though to get the widgets. There's likely to be a transparent widget theme for the Calendar widget as well. There's still some issues with the Launcher though such as the Gmail widget not displaying the feed (not sure if it's fixed as of now), etc so beware.
Thanks for the info! I knew the widget seemed very familiar. I had launcher pro on my droidx for a short period of time.
APW is a better option for all the Launcher Pro widgets. They have much more customization and are updated. LP seems like it's a dead project, even though the dev claims he is still working on the rewrite. It's been way too long for an an update and I have moved on. APW works on any launcher as well.

You are right. Last update for LP came back in May. I'll check out APW. They seem to be very nice.
My only complaint with APW is the lack of themes. Lpp had some really nice ones even before the official theme system was implemented.

Yea this looks like APW widgets with full transparency on. APW is a good widget pack. One of the best if you ask me.

HD Widgets vs. Beautiful Widgets on GNex

What would you buy? HD Widgets or Beautiful Widgets?
HD Widgets got an update today and are on sale now. Not sure if it is a good deal.
Maybe somebody tried both?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I have both. I only use HD Widgets because it's very polished. Beautiful Widgets allows you to install different themes for the widgets, which is awesome, but when I used it the selection was unappealing to me. I'm sure there are more themes now, though.
Never used HD Widgets, but Beautiful Widgets has a loooot of themes.
Here's my home screen widget just for reference. I'm using the full screen widget for the Galaxy Note (5x5).

I've had beautiful Widgets since my Droid 1, 2 years ago.
I like it, and for $3 I really got my use out of it. After getting my nexus though, the screen is so brilliant, I kind of don't want to take up half that space with a clock widget. I think I might just finally be done with clock apps, I do remember trying HD widgets way back in the day and deciding on Beautiful Widgets.
I guess for me, I say BW only because I know what I'm getting, and the themes are great. It's really easy to get away from the default HTC look.
I also have both but the new HD Widgets beta version the weather does not work.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
For my Nexus I'm using BW since it has a lot of customisation options (although I really hate how the location name disappears under the weather icon for places with long names). I have HDW as well which I use on my Transformer Prime since BW has awful scalability for large screens. I very much prefer the widget layout of HDW but I can't find a theme on it that I really like over BW.

i too have both...BW for phone, HDW for tablet
i hadn't had HDW on my phone in ages and installed the latest 'update'...it was crashing ALL day, even without an active widget i was getting a "hd widgets has crashed" popup, but worse than that for me, the widget was only displaying in farenheit even though i'd selected celsius, which makes it totally useless gibberish
i won't be updating to the new version on my tablet
I have also bought both of them. Beautiful Widgets feels like it works better for a phone interface because the 4x2 Clock/Weather widget looks like it fits better on the screen and is highly themeable (for us who flash new themes and ROMs frequently).
I use HD Widgets for my tablet as the giant clock/weather widgets fit the screen much better than Beautiful Widgets does and the transparency and light theming works on my tablet as i don't flash with it nearly as much.
Just my thoughts
As with some posters above, I am a long-time BW owner, going back to the early days of the OG Droild. I loved it back then. Now, the look of those big clocks with overly-dramatic weather icons looks so 2009 to me.
After getting the GNex, I just couldn't devote so much homescreen space and I didn't want something that looked so "tired" to me, so I bought Make Your Clock Widget Pro. I designed a minimalistic "clock" widget and it's been in service on my GNex for months now. For me, it's perfect, and it's unique - just what I want, how I want it - nothing else.
Consider escaping the BW/HD Widgets look, and just go make your own.
Here’s a screenshot…
Thanks!!!
Make your clock is totally great!
I installed a free version and one widget even works. And this is ok for me.
Not sure if weather works. But I will check that later. Clock was a priority.

You are welcome!
Nice design btw!
HD Widgets beta 3.0.1 latest play store update keeps crashing an constantly sending crash reports to google, chewing the fu#k out of my battery life with crash reports every 2 minutes even with widget removed.

I use Beautiful widgets.

[Q] Weather Widget

I am looking for a good, stable, non-spyware-including weather widget that is about half-screen and has forcasts for the upcoming days on the front screen. The "news and weather" widget included with the phone is too small. Anyone have any favorites? I would try a bunch but I don't want to junk up my phone if I don't have to.
First app I ever paid for and worth every penny. eWeather
Beautiful widgets. Have some nice clocks widgets too
Beweather pro is 99cents today. I believe it does that. Still my favorite weather app. I am going to buy that right now actually.
The only whether widget I would ever pay for is BEAUTIFUL WIDGETS on the app store. Try the free version first to check it out. It's AMAZING!

Both Beautiful Widgets and HD Widgets are really nice.
Though not a widget, RadarScope is the absolute best app as far as looking at real-time weather radars.

Transparent GMail/Reader app?

Does anyone know an app that can let me see my gmail email and/or greader stuff that you can customize like the attached... ?
Attached is Android Pro Widgets with Lucid theme
AtomaRSS is a great RSS reader that will pull from Google RSS. I highly recommend it. You will need an alternate launcher that supports scrollable Widgets. I use it with Nova Launcher which has the added bonus of giving you a horizontal home screen.

Pure messenger widget?
There is another out there that is decent, I just can't think of the name.

Android Agenda Widget my go-to widget for years now, always getting better, tons of features and you can make it look almost any way you want.
As for facebook support... Never heard of any calendar that has that. And you would not want to "sync" with Google Calendar, just use the database. Anyway, if facebook is a requirement, don't think this one does it.

WOW! so I have got my New Nexus 7 32gb and it updated to 4.2.1 as soon as i powered it up and connected it to my wireless...
I am missing the calendar widget. the only calendar widget i have is for google calendar.
I really want the default calendar that shows me the whole month that i have on my phone, and from what i am reading it was originally part of the nexus 7, just wondering if it was removed or if for some reason i am missing something obvious and dont have it.
I could download any ordinary app from the store but why do that if i should have something already for free.

Google Calendar is basically just like the stock calendar.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/ Business Calendar Free is very good.
So good that I bought it.
On one side screen I set up a 5x5 Month Calendar widget (sized to cover whole window) and on the home screen I use another widget set as Agenda.
I really like that the widgets are re-sizable.
Many options.
Great app.:good:
so i went with android pro widgets for the full screen calendar and to get it synced with facebook i used UberSync which allows me to add facebook friends birthdays to the calendar. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync
Three words: Executive Assistant Plus ^_^ Epically awesome! (Ok, so that's 5, but I was only counting before the happy face lol)
Pure calendar widget and apw (android pro widgets)
Pure is really nice and super configurable. Plenty of themes too.

Wizz widget. Free and looking great, plus has other goodies, like RSS news, facebook, twitter etc. Free version has limited customization options but it is enough for me (set font/back color/transparency)

Thanks for the heads-up. This app is good enough to pull me from Google's own calendar.
There's a reason this app is rated so highly.
I also had to buy it.
Simple Calendar Widget is pretty customizable and minimalistic for those who like that sort of look.: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anod.calendar&feature=nav_result

android pro widget + lucid theme and I never looked back
I think you will like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338410
My vote is for Jorte
Lots of widget sizes, fully customisable colours, can display your events etc. Use it on phone and tablet
Calengoo
It's a complete calendar app but the widgets are nicely done.
