[Q]{SOLVED} SGH-I747 Mysterious loss of LTE Connection After Reboot/Power Cycle - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all,
So I have been trying to isolate this issue for 2 days now.
Basically, when coming from a fresh and clean restore of the Stock ROM (Firmware), after installing a few apps from the Play Store (Chrome, SwitchPro, Twitter and Facebook), after rebooting or powering off the phone, LTE Service stops functioning and I am stuck with HSPA+ (AT&T 4G) or less (connectivity is still automatic - e.g. calls and data still work, but LTE never returns).
I've tried several different approaches at isolating the issue, and at one point I narrowed it down to Chrome being the culprit, but then after a fresh wipe, I installed only Chrome and had no issues.
Searching around here on XDA hasn't brought me to any specifics either.
I can force LTE only via the *#2263# code, but then I lose voice capabilities.
Something is blocking LTE, obviously
At this point I have to avoid installing any of the above listed apps (particularly Chrome).
Things I've done:
Rooted
Installed CWM
Boot to Recovery and Formatted all Partitions
Entered Download Mode
Used Desktop ODIN to Restore Stock Firmware
Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues or know of a solution?
I reveted back completely from any and all root related elements to try and solve this issue but it persists
Let me know if you need more info or have any questions.
Thanks,
***UPDATE***
Issue was Resolved in Last Thread Post by me (see link below):

***UPDATE***
I conducted another test and simply after logging into my Google account on my phone and then restarting reproduced the loss of LTE.
Does anyone know how I can effectively wipe any and all device stored data from Google's servers?
I think (although I did not enable the option) my phone is pulling down corrupt device settings from the Google server.

[Moved from OP]
***CONCLUSION***
As it turned out, there appears to be a bug in the Stock ROM where even when the auto backup feature is not enable, the Auto Restore of App Data is enable and functioning regardless.
Due to an issue with a custom ROM or GApps package previously used, some incompatible Data settings somehow got associated to the Play Store app.
As well, the base version of the Play Store app in the Stock ROM is not up-to-date. So once the phone connected to the network for data, it automatically updated the Play Store and restored the bogus Data settings.
The fix involved clearing the Play Store app data and cache, and uninstalling the update as well as completely disabling all backup and restore settings in the system settings app of the phone.
Sure glad thats over now.
I hope this thread may help someone else in the future.

[Moved from OP]
***REGRESSION***
Back to square one...
Factory Reset > Boot Phone > Reboot Phone anytime during or after initial setup = No More LTE

[Moved from OP]
***POST FAILURE THOUGHTS***
At some point in time I requested the SIM Unlock Code directly from AT&T for my phone and validated unlock status with a U.S. T-Mobile SIM Card.
This is the only thing left for me to think that might have triggered these issues. That the phone (in its newer unlocked state) now defaults to HSPA+ (AT&T 4G) is what I'm thinking.
What still makes no sense to me is, why on first boot of a completely wiped and restored phone, does LTE function as expected. But, once the phone is powered off and/or rebooted, LTE disappears on boot.
Someone, anyone, help... PLEASE!!!

[Success] Issues Resolved
Yesterday evening I made my way to the local AT&T Wireless store assuming I'd get my phone replaced since the issue seemed to be specific to my phone.
While at the store it was determined that I would have to go to a warranty center (a 20 min drive from where I was) that wasn't open at the time (I would have needed to wait until tomorrow/today).
So, instead we (the associate and I) tried to troubleshoot the phone in the store.
We tested my phone with one of their SIM cards, and wouldn't you know it, LTE worked fine on my phone with their SIM card.
So the associate set me up with a new SIM card, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.
So he then looked in to the settings of the phone and went ahead and toggled the Data Roaming option.
At first we didn't think this would help since I wasn't in an area where roaming would occur, but to our surprise, LTE became available.
We ran through other tests like rebooting the phone, power cycling it and factory resting the device.
All tests passed.
I still don't know what caused the issue with my phone nor how we actullay resolved the problem, but it is now gone...

[Q] NFL 2011 App

I went to go download the NFL 2011 application from the market today but it doesn't show up. Does any one happen to know why? Just curious hopefully it starts showing up soon.
I notice the same thing, and 12 won't show up either.

Think I figured out why I don't see the app, if you go to the android market website (not the app). Then go to "My Devices" it has nothing for my carrier. Not sure why, I will stay off wifi and see if it updates.
I was able to download the app. It's actually really polished and quick for checking up on scores without having to sift through interface.
Downloaded it Friday just fine from the market on my phone

I have resolved this issue and wanted to post what was found for any one else that may have this issue. The root cause of the issue ended up being the carrier (sprint) was not identified for the device. You could see this by logging into the android market website and looking at "My Devices" under "My Account". I contacted support and they replied with the below. I performed all of the steps they gave with the exception factory reset. This corrected my issue and caused Sprint to now show up under carriers and I was able to download the application with no problem.
I know this is long but I hope it helps someone out there.
*** Steps from Google Support ****
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Try your download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
- Uninstall Market updates by visiting:
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Market" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
- Unmount and remount the SD card:
Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD card; then Remount SD card from the same menu, or restart the device if the remount option isn't available
If the above steps don't resolve the problem I recommend you perform a factory reset on your device. Please note that this will reset your device to its original state. While your media content (photos, music, etc.) will not be deleted from the SD card, applications and their related data will be uninstalled.
Before the factory reset, make sure that your contacts are synced to your Google account by logging into Gmail from a computer and verifying if your contacts appear there. If your contacts are not synced, then I recommend updating your sync settings at Settings > Accounts and Sync and choosing either AutoSync or touching the account you would like to sync and choosing "Sync Contacts."
Along with syncing contacts, please back up any important application data and/or settings by navigating to Settings > Privacy and selecting "Back up my data'"and "Automatic restore."
To perform a factory reset:
1) Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Privacy (or Phone storage; depends on the device)
2) Press "Factory data reset"
3) Press "Reset phone"
After you perform the factory reset, make sure you sign into your device with the same primary Google Account you were using before. If you have any questions or concerns before performing the reset, or if doing so does not resolve the issue, please let me know so I can continue to investigate the issue.
It didn't show up for me the first day the phone came out but I checked yesterday and it was there and downloaded it fine.

Lose your Android device, either to theft or your own forgetfulness, is certainly not fun, that's what happened to my wife last month with my Nexus 7 3G. Google has finally released its response to the loss or theft of your Androphone with Android Device Manager.
It should hit your device soon, if not already, to help you locate or wipe (factory reset) your Android device lost. Here's how to use it.
INSTALL

Click to collapse
Android Device Manager will automatically hit your device without having to do a thing. If you don't have it yet, you will soon receive. But before you can take full advantage of ADM, you will need to do some things, such as allowing factory reset on your device. Its implementation is quite simple..
First, visit google.com/android/devicemanager.
and if you want you can download the apk => com.google.android.gms-1.apk - MD5 Sum: d1884b750aff2dc3ff435f95510420cb - Size: 7.30 MB (7649893 bytes)
From there, a map will pop up with some information about your device, along with a prompt to enable the Erase Device function of ADM. You can either manually open up the green Google Settings app, which should be in your app drawer, or use the send notification link on the ADM webpage, giving you an easy way to find exactly where you need to be to enable remote factory reset.
If you don’t use the notification, just open Google Settings, and select Android Device Manager.
The option to toggle both the ability to factory reset your phone from ADM, and locate it, will be in there.
Using ADM
Click to collapse
After you’ve done that, you’re ready to set to go. At the moment, there are three main functions of Android Device Manager. You can ring a lost phone, factory reset a lost phone or locate your device on a map using your phone's GPS. You can also rename what your device appears as in ADM.
Simply you can load ADM online and will show you the location of your device, but if you’re tracking it while it’s on the move, there’s a refresh button that will recalculate your device’s location.
If your device is located somewhere simply, like in your own house, you may want to use the Ring function. As Google explains, even if your phone is on silent, using the ring function in ADM will force your phone to ring at full volume for five minutes. To turn it off, you have to press the power button on your phone.
There’s nothing on your device indicating why it’s ringing, you’d have to know how to stop the ringing or play around to figure it out.
If you believe your device has been stolen, and you have some precious information on it, then the Erase Device function will come in handy. After you click Erase Device, a pop up will tell you what it will erase (essentially everything), and what will happen after that.
Unfortunately, Google says it “may not be able to wipe the content of the SD card in your device.” Best of luck if you have anything private on there.
If your device is off when you try to factory reset it, have no fear. The moment it’s turned on, it will be erased.
You may think erasing the content of your device is the best thing to do as soon as you find it’s missing, but you may want to hold on. After you erase your device, ADM will not work anymore.

For the moment, that’s all there is to it. As with all of Google’s products, we expect to see more features added in time and more practice

I'm sticking with cerberus for a while. But I guess ADM may become even better in a few months

I wish there was an option to set a pin on the phone remotely.
When I login to android device manager web site, how come my phone was not listed there?
Sorry If I'm asking this Question in the wrong section but whenever I locate my device, ADM send a notification to my device which seems to be quite silly as if my phone is stolen, the thief will be able to see this notification and may turn off ADM completely. Any suggestions to turn off the notifications??
I've already remove ticked from show notifications by going to Settings =.> Apps... that didn't work out

Does anyone ever have problems wiping?

Whoa! That topic title
When I go to wipe my phone, often I find, after I reinstall my factory image, the device still remembers my wifi password. Even after doing the following...
Wiping with recovery (data, cache, davlik)
Wiping with Jellybean Format All X2
Wiping with stock recovery (data and cache)
Even with all that, I still find, sometimes, my device remembers my wifi, which leads me to believe it never was fully wiped.
Any suggestions to ensure a proper wipe?
Thanks.
EDIT: I've been messing around with it a bit more, and now I don't think the problem is the password being remembered.
When I flash back to factory using Samsungs Simple Drive, typically, when you go to re-configure the phone, you're immediately prompted for a wifi password upon setting up e-mail.
I found, half the times I wasn't prompted for an e-mail pass, which led me to believe my wifi pass wasn't getting erased.
Now, I think the reason I wasn't getting prompted for my wifi pass, is because it was connecting to the cellular broadband, which must be the reason I wasn't getting prompted for a wifi password.
I just tried it, after not getting prompted for my wifi pass, and sure enough I had a real slow connection with the web browser. Then I clicked on my wifi router in settings, and was prompted for a password.
Strange thing is, I'm using Freedompop as my provider, yet getting an internet connection without their app being installed. I even tested the connection with the Speedtest app and was getting 1.3 mbps down and .58 up. I guess with Fredompop, you're connected to data even without thier app installed.
I tried making phone call without the app installed, however that did not work.
FreedomPop's app only controls messaging and phone calls, not the data connection. After a factory reset I'm guessing you allow Google to restore your settings, which includes Wi-Fi passwords. What you are doing is a proper wipe.

What I seemed to figure out, is that after a wipe, I can connect to the internet via mobile data, which is why I was probably not being prompted for my wifi password.
I confirmed this by doing a wipe, then immediately connecting to the internet via 3g. Then I confirmed I wasn't connecting via wifi, since I tried to connect to my router in settings, and was prompted for a wifi password. So, right there, I know my wifi password wasn't being stored by google, since it was prompting me for a password.
I guess when you have service with Freedompop, you can connect right to the internet straight after a wipe. I always thought you needed thier app installed first. But, like you stated, the app is only for messaging and calls.

Yeah once you update your Profile and PRL to FreedomPop you are all setup on their network. It's been a different experience for me too, they aren't like other carriers.

Sim being disabled and cell icon gone fron status bar

I have had this reoccurring issue for some time now, my SIM gets disabled and cell icon is gone from the status bar. Thing is, I still have data and can make calls. This happens randomly and cant reproduce it, sometimes it may be a few days, sometimes up to a month or more, but always happens after a reboot. Don't think it's a hardware issue, cause a clean flash of a rom clears it up, I think there is something hidden that is causing this to happen, maybe not. I have also replaced the SIM several times, but the issue comes back. Still have the correct IMEI's and "Settings > About Phone" as well as "Testing Mode" shows the SIM to be functioning properly. Anyone out there have a guess at what might be the issue?
Ok, it took only three reboots this time for this to happen. Rebooted to TWRP and wiped data, rebooted to OS and have signal back. There has to be something on the software side causing this to happen, just don't know what. If it was hardware, just wiping data wouldn't make it work again. Forgot to say which rom, I'm running LineageOS 16 official.

Flashed OOS 9.0.4 last night, rebooted the phone around lunch today and same thing happens. At least with OOS, the icon is there, well the disabled sim icon and it also shows the working tx/rx arrows next to the icon. It's just weird how the system thinks the sim is disabled, yet I still have service.
As you can see, sim is disabled in top bar and "Settings > SIM & Network", but "About Phone > Status" and Testing Mode show that it's active

Think I may have solved my problems. A while back, I tried the method of fixing IMEI with erasing modemst1/modemst2 and kept getting "FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)", even though the bootloader was unlocked. With that in mind, maybe not being able to flash those partitions was causing my sim/IMEI info from being stored and therefor loosing service and sim being disabled. So today I did the unbrick method of using the MsM download tool to completely reflash my phone. After enabling OEM unlock and fastboot unlocking phone, I can now erase modemst1/modemst2 partitions. So, I am now in the process of flashing back LineageOS and will see how things go. Will report back later on results.

Question Cannot access Google

Hello,
Just got the tablet, it was really quick. Ordered when it went for sale in Italy on Thursday and today Friday morning already received it.
Maybe I'm one of the first to receive the tablet with Global ROM, but I'm going to ask anyway:
I cannot add my Google account. The error is always "There was a problem communicating with Google servers"
Is this tablet so new that it still cannot connect to Google?! Has anyone had similar problems? I also tried to install last Google Play Services from apkmirror.
ROM is 12.5.1 Global Stable
Thanks!
EDIT: Solved. After trying to clear app data, installing apks, checking autostart permissions etc, decided to try factory reset and everything started working. Kind of crazy that before starting to use a new device had to do factory reset, if you ask me.
what is the version of your firmware? im planning to buy one
same to me. i cannot access with my google account. How do you resolved @tikkalamt? i update also google play services and restore back to factory reset but i don't resolve this issue. miui 12.5.1 global.
Same here. MIUI 12.5.2. Google Account can not be added.
same problem even after two factory reset, a solution please?
Interesting. I have a similar problem yet not the same. I wanted to use the device for my job and we use Microsoft Intune to create an enterprise profile in Android devices.
Outside of this enterprise area everything works fine. I can set up a Google account without problems. But when I open the enterprise PlayStore I see the error message "Error while retrieving information from server DF-DFERH-01".
It sounds like those two problems are in a way related to each other...
I also have MIUI 12.5.2 and up-to-date Play Services...
I had the same problem. I could solve it after factory reset and Android setup ask If you would like transfer files from other phone and vola account transferred.
It is a google server problem. It's a problem known by xiaomi. I turn off wifi, put in airplaine mode. Then wifi on and i don't know why i access with my google account.
Same thing on Second Space.
Using Global ROM in France, everything works great on First Space. Cannot ad a Google account on Second Space. It's a shame since I bought this tablet for two persons. I really hope this will get fix soon.
I tried deleting Google Apps data etc… nothing works.
Mine worked normally come with MIUI 12.5.4.0 RKXMIXM

I have the same problem with the second profile. If you completely reset the pad again, do not add a Google account during the initial setup and then first set up the second account, it should supposedly work. But I haven't tried it myself because I don't want to reset the first profile.

Same to me with Global rom in Xiaomi mi pad 5 Chinese version! Need an expert give some solutions
Same on EU version. Also receiving notifications that Google Backup is not working
Same with mi mipad 5, unable to login on google account in the second space... Works with my xiaomi smartphone.
Xiaomi support asked me to add a comment directly in the setting section of the device (services and comments section) to try to get a fix... I think other people concerned should do the same to prove xiaomi it is really mandatory to fix this.

I had the same problem, after multiple factory resets (each time I went to second space first, to check out if it is already working with google) I setup my second space first (without adding an account to my "first" space) and it is working ok since than. But unfortunately not all options are available in the second space (for example you cannot add youtube as multitasking app).
I am having similar problem. After unboximg i couldn’t Connect to google server. But after factory reset i was able to add google account.but later when i wanted to add another google account i could not. It goes to lock screen and after swiping up its shows " checkin info.." and it goes on for ever. Another problem is it doesn’t backup in google. I did clear data of playstore and play service several times but no luck. Seems like it is a problem for everyone. They should have polished their software before releasing this tab.
If it can help, after wiping google apps data to try to make this work, I was out of my account even on the first space, even after reboot (with the same error), but by going to the 3 dots "..." -> Updates in the Play Store app, I was able to see the error code "df-dferh-01" which lead me to https://www.nextpit.com/google-play-not-working#uninstall / https://theandroid.in/df-dferh-01/, which mentions uninstalling the google app updates as a solutions, which looked like the situation of @amacar (you can login after a fresh wipe) .. and it worked for me !
So here's what I did (without wipe) :
* Go to Apps, show all
* Google Play Store -> uninstall updates
* Google Play Services -> uninstall updates (after this the app list disappear)
* You can go to the Play store and login
* Repeat for the other space if necessary
Edit: this is also a solution proposed at https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7513003
"They should have polished their software before releasing this tab."
Sadly I think this is what to expect, with some issues probably to stay for a long time. I also noticed that some medias in Plex are played with very fast video but normal audio (maybe Plex' fault but I'd bet on some MIUI customization) ..
