Will the battery of Galaxy Note II fit for Galaxy Note I? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, by now i hope everyone knows the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 2. And while i was going through its features, both hardware and software, it struck me, can we use the battery of galaxy note 2 for galaxy note 1. I was unable to get any ibformation regarding this so i planned to post a thread here, so that if at all anyone knows something about it, will let us all know about it too.
I am a happy galaxy note user. Pretty hapy with usage, camera, browsing, apps etc etc...but the one thing that annoys me is battery life. Continuous usage with wifi switched on, gives me just 3 to 4 hrs of usage and while i use data plan it hardly makes to 3 hrs.
So i wondered, if we can use the galaxy note2's battery for note 1, then we would have a giant 3100 mAmp battery for us.
I saw that galaxy note 2, is almost the same size of galaxy note 1, with a slight increase of height and decrease of width, but did not see the battery in any of the videos yet.

I highly doubt you could buy a Samsung Galaxy Note II battery and fit into your original Galaxy Note, but there are plenty of larger batteries out there from companies such as Anker.

You can always use a hammer....

Thanks for replying..
I was just willing to know if at all there is any chance for the battery of Galaxy Note 2 to fit in Note 1, because the thickness of Galaxy Note2 is even less when compared to Note1. But if at all it fits, I will be the most happiest person

Very funny of you @friedje, Very funny

Before moderators close your thread I wanted to leave my mark. I hope you don't mind. Love my binary rebellious against injustice.
Now to make this post relevant to the OP. No I don't think SGN2's battery would fit in original note.

Why would this thread be closed?

I too was thinking of note 2, as 3100mah is huge,i can't say the same for its placement, bcoz though it's slim, the ergonomics have been changed, since note 2 u can remove sd card without pulling the batteries,
N why should this thread be closed

This board got spammed with a bunch of note 2 threads, and so for the time being they are not allowing new Note 2 threads.
You must just post onto the current note 2 sticky.
I am guessing that the reason the battery has 25% more capacity is because it is 25% longer, to match the increased length of the Note.
So I highly doubt Note 2 batteries will fit in the note 1. It's quite possible, however, that you can put Note 1 batteries in the Note 2 (with spacers) similar to how S2 batteries could be used in the Note 1. The battery contacts were in the same location.

Why would you even want to do that? The original 3100mAh battery will be as expensive(if not more) than a 3500mAh battery from a different brand.

People saying generally that it couldnt be possible for a battery of a different sammy phone to work on the note be advised:
the battery of the galaxy S worked for me on the note 1. with the help of cut q tips to help push the battery up cause its shorter, was a life saver!

Given the fact that no infos about the shape of the note 2 battery are available right now every answer here has to be considered a mere guess. But it's also completely irrelevant whether the note 2 battery works with the note or not since there are plenty of batteries with different capacities available. And most of them are certainly cheaper than an original note 2 battery which isn't even available yet.

I saw a photo of the Note 1 & 2 side by side with the backs off somewhere in cyberspace (no way to find it again). It was very apparent the 3100mAh battery is significantly longer than the 2500 one, no way it will fit in the space allowed by the original Note's case..

Is it?

If what you said is true, that battery of note2 bigger than note1, then, thats the end of my hope to have a genuine samsung LARGER battery for my note1 :silly:
But can anyone please let me know where can I find a battery of large capacity in Hyderabad/India that can fit in Note1 without changing the default back cover that come with the phone?

Now if we could also replace it with the Note"s II screen as well, and may be also the RAM too.
What about the CPU may be that can be changed as well.
Now come to think again do you think the Camera.....

Are you able to fit in your galaxy S2 battery into galaxy S3 ?
Should be the same answer my friend.

I guess we all have to wait to see whether we can make any adjustments to help fit the batery of Note2 in Note1, just like it was done for Galaxy S2's battery fitting in Galaxy Note. Or just to see how we cant do it

Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 Power Pack (Extended Battery)

the officially Samsung battery pack is out wander how much thickness it will add :
"An official Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 accessory that fits to your Samsung Galaxy S II and provides additional power.
Essentially an extended battery, this power pack for the Samsung Galaxy S II has a 1300mAh capacity. Add this to the 1650mAh standard battery in the device already that gives 2950mAh. "......
http://www.clove.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i9100-power-pack-extended-battery
sorry mods if this been posted before, couldn't find it no where posted
Actually sounds good to me but how is it supposed to work, I mean how do you add the extended Battery? does it switch automatically or do you have to manually switch it when normal bat runs out of juice? Well I know u cant answer as dont have it either but what do u guys think?
And is this anywhere confirmed to be official, I mean I could sell "official" Samsung pee myself xD.
From my understanding if you can't turn it off it will kill the internal battery very fast because it will be constantly charging and recharging at 100%.
Does anyone have more information???
i was going to buy one of theys, but i decided to get a newteck 5000Mah battery pack for 20 quid instead, glad i got it instead.
Where U get this one from?
To my understanding the extended battery pack is kind of like a mobile charging dock.
When you put it on the phone, the phone goes to the charging mode.
I just ordered one. I hope it works like that, that I can keep the extended case in my bag and if running out of juice I just hit it in the place like putting it on a dock.
Of course I have to make sure that the extended case is also charged first.

I agree with Newtrent guy: http://www.newtrent.com
I don't want to put such a fugly case on the phone... So an external battery (Which isn't so big, 4 inch by 4 inch by 2 inch, slips in a pocket) connected to the phone is my "on the fly recharge" solution. I got the imp1000, 11000 mAh battery, charged my HD2 5 full times before needing to be recharged.

It actually increases the size to about the Dell Streak from what I see. The Tab is a little too big! haha
external battery is much better, get one which can charge multiple devices like notebooks etc. You'd only have to bring one external battery for both phone and notebook device needs
RE: killing the battery because of charging/recharging at 100%.... is this still true? Because I thought / heard somewhere that the newest generation lithium batteries are less prone to that kind of fragility. Over maybe a year... sure... but how fast is "fast" when talking about killing a battery by charging it on full charge?

pre-ordered and still waiting it to deliver
I am actually now thinking about cancelling it and thinking about some other options to longer the batterylife in special needs.
I have dock at home and work so no worries here but then if have a long day at bar etc then I might need more juice on the road..
Hmm, any phone should shame if it wont make it a full day tho. Kinda makes me wonder why this sgs2 eats bats this fast.
Is this piece is available for purchase?
Am I the ONLY one who has one right now?
Looks good and cool!

Battery

Just wondering if the Note's 2500mah battery will fit in the SGS3! if the dimensions and the connectors are of the same type.
If it fits, it will give us more juice as than what it actually has !
If so, I think its better to go with a original Samsung note's battery than buying a OEM that has a very short life span when compared.
We may have to wait till the phone releases to compare,.
If you could read the threads that have information, you wouldn't need to ask.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25940270&postcount=11
your post states that the battery has a nfc antenna right? but if he's willing to skip nfc would the battery work, that is how i read OP's post.
for the answer i guess we have to wait and see....
hope the note will fit,but if not, Im sure samsung will release a big one, they are not like motorola, they will have a good better battery

Just found out from a reviewer from Romania that the Note's Battery has 3 connector and SGS3's Battery has 4 connectors, so the expectation is gone on ground 0.
official extended battery?
So is there any info on when Samsung will release an official extended battery for Galaxy S3 with NFC? they made 2000mah one for S2 and i believe was available about same time as galaxy s2 itself

All that I heard form Samsung Singapore reps (unofficial) are that there may be one extended battery at the time of the launch of the wireless charging kit. And it may be in september or during the next nexus release !
So yes we might have a extended battery but not so soon.

Battery for I9305 different from I9300?

Dear all,
I just bought the I9305. I was surprised that the battery size is different from the I9300! The battery in the I9305 is larger than the I9300. Does anyone have more information on the difference? For some reason, sites like GSM Arena don't reflect this difference.
how big was yours?

They are exactly the same size and are even interchangable between each other. I have them both in front of me. What on earth made you think they are different? Everything n the housing between I9300 and I9305 are interchangable even the Back cover. I have tried it all.
Here are 3 pictures of my I9305. The first picture shows the phone and the provided battery together. The next picture shows the S3 I9300 original Samsung battery I bought. Then you can see the comparison of the provided I9305 battery and the I9300 battery.
Unless the packaging wording for the I9300 extra battery I bought was wrong and it was not meant for S3 (which I triple checked!), there is DEFINITELY a difference.

The "i9300 original battery" is probably fake.
Mine is taller, just like the i9305.
The smaller batery has "EB-L1H2LLK" code on it, which refers (google it) to Chinese SCH-I939 Galaxy S3, not the I9300.
Does the anker sold by laptopmate on amazon work with the i9305, because it isnt in the compatible list..,

If it works for the I9300 then it works for the I9305, reason its not on the compatible is because the new S3 is not as well known yet
Well I rolled up some paper and stuffed it into the empty space when using the smaller size battery. It works.
Guess I got duped. Actually got it in Korea and it said S3 or SIII. Guess there are too many S3/SIII versions now.

That one is not for a legitimate S3, it's a clone S3 battery.
So, nope.. not "many" versions, only if you count knockoffs..

it's not a knockoffs, that battery belongs to korean version of S3, i just got a used korean S3 today, and when i try to purchase backup battery, it doesn't fit in, the i9300 battery is 5mm longer. both got the same capacity though.

I have an NTTdocomo SIII SC-03E and it also uses the shorter (but same width, thickness, capacity 2100mah) EB-L1H2LLK battery.
Definitely NOT a clone and I suppose yes, there are many SIII versions.
Btw, the SC-03E has a retractable antenna for its tv tuner. It's on the top right quite near the front camera. Maybe that is why they needed a shorter battery because of the space the tv tuner MIGHT have occupied.

Although it is not possible to maintain the same capacity with the same thickness and other dimensions AND losing length.
Or else they would opt for higher capacity overall - well I guess it's a stupid design.
I found out and with a few mods, an SII (i9100) battery will fit an SC-03E. Slice off part of the side notch guides beside the battery terminal side (no need to slice off the other side notch) and removing the black spacer beneath the battery. The width of the SII battery is about 2-3mm narrower and its capacity is only 1750mah. I can manage about 16hrs with light usage with both wifi and data switches active.

Better Battery Life !

You want a good battery life with your new ROM ?
I have a solution : New battery !
This battery it 3100mAh, so 600mAh better than the official Samsung Battery
And for finish, you want to speed up your time charge ?
The solution : New charger
With 1A output, your charging time was very very short !
(Sorry for my bad english, I'm french..)

Yes, but your 5000mah battery need an aditionnal accessorie, and your note is bigger
But I don't recommend Chinese battery.
got one external brand is Yoobao, says 5200mah,
but cannot even charge my note1 one full-charge,
less than half real capacity.
I have a 4000mAh but the same as the original capacity
so in my opinion there is nothing better than the original accessories
Not to mention all these people are local sellers who don't seem to ship overseas.
So it's useless to pretty much the majority of xda users.
Iife of my old battery is 1 year 6 month then I replace it with OEM battery

Just remember you won't have NFC capabilities, if you ever use it for anytime.
I dont use nfc. Bit how would that work anyway? The antena is on the phone itself how does the battery make nfc work?
I bought this battery to switch back and forth so if i did use nfc would it work when i put the stock battery back in?

My stock sami battery doesnt say anything about nfc....my wifes gs3 says near field communication. So i guess i never had nfc option to begin with.
Is there any way to test the mah on a battery? After 5 charge cycles ot lasts about 2 to 3 hours longer and about 30 min more screen time than my stock battery. Its kinda close to call but i dont think it is the full 4380 mah they claim. I would love to know for sure though.
