GT-I9250TSRRWC vs GT-I9250TSDTLS - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
So I bought 2 different Galaxy nexuses from 2 different people and noticed a couple of differences.
1) Firstly was the different model numbers GT-I9250TSRRWC, and GT-I9250TSDTLS (the first seem to be more common or something because my brother also has that from Fido). My guess was that the second model is Telus' ??!!
2) The boxes they came in were slightly different (the second model was slightly smaller)
3) The difference in the physical of the 2 phones. (the second model seemed a bit more slimmer, and lighter in weight. The colour of it seemed more grey than the other one which was a bit yellowish compared to it. Also I noticed the battery cover was a lot easier to remove)
4) THIS IS THE BIG ONE. The screen was super different on the second model. The screen is a lot brighter, white is more white here (compared to more yellowish on the first model). Black is more greish here (compared to really black on the first model). It reminded me of the LCD on the Nexus S!! But all GNex have SAMOLED right? :S
5) The vibration intensity on the second model was lighter. (It feels like the vibration intensity on the Nexus S after the JB update)
Did anyone else have this differences? Is the second model a defective model? According to GSMARENA, the second model is Telus, which should have the same screen and everything else, and the difference is that its one less frequency in 3g. (Which I don't even know what the difference is!!)
Someone please help me.
Edit: I think this is what the purple screen issue that a lot of people had is, it was pretty purple when I turned down the brightness!

Is the colour of the HTC One X a factor in build quality?

Hi,
I am on my 5th HTC One X, in 30 days. This one is Grey, the previous 2 were white, and the 2 before that were Grey.
My 1st (Grey) return was a faulty digitizer. My 2nd (Grey) was very minor (LED not aligned). My 3rd (White) was screen flex and creaking. My 4th (White) was creaking and signal. My 5th (Grey) seems fine.
I've noticed that the grey ones seem a lot more sturdy than the white ones. They also seem to have better signal (3G, Wifi) capabilities. Now, my sample was only small, and it was in the UK, and from one supplier.
I'd like to see if there is a correlation between the colour of the HTC One X, and the build quality.
If you look at the tear down pics, the phone's internals are all a single integral unit. They get put in a body toward the end of assembly. The way they're built, any "phone" could end up in any color "body." I'm sure whatever process HTC uses to attach the antennas and other parts to a body, no matter what color it is, is the same. So it's unlikely that the color of the case has anything to do with an individual phone's performance.

That's not my experience. Hence why I asked the question. To see if my experience was unique or more widespread.
The issues with the white cases was that the screens were ill fitting, and they creaked.
It could be that the white colouring used is effecting the plastic more than the grey colour.
As I stated, in my experience the colour certainly did make a difference. Not one of the grey ones I had suffered any creaking, what-so-ever. yet both of the white ones did.
By now, after being on the market for five months, there's several hundred thousand One X's in the wild. On the forum there are pages of discussion of China vs. Taiwan builds, whether early builds are better than later builds, and whether phones sold in different regions have different levels of problems. A lot of people have also swapped from white to gray phones and vice versa. If something as obvious as "grey phones are built better" was true, it would have come up on its own. And it’s not like people on the forum aren’t examining their phones closely.
Do you think someone with a working grey device would see its performance change if they bought this off of eBay and changed the color of their phone?
By the way, a bunch of people have bought replacement covers off of eBay and put them on their phones themselves. Quite a few people have also opened up their phones to self-repair the Wi-Fi h/w issue rather than waiting on HTC. Nothing odd was reported. By all means do carry on, but it's doubtful a trend's going to arise if it hasn't already.

Your experience and assumption are based on a sample of 5 phones. The only way you can draw a definite conclusion is by using statistical analysis, which requires the sample being used to be much larger. The experience you had is not significant enough to generalize it towards all HOX phones.

[Q] Who else is getting the dingy yellowish white color problem?

So my Note 2 and some others are experiencing dull and yellowish white contrast as talked about in this POST. Also this POST shows the Note 2 being much brighter. We've tested this with both units on high brightness and dynamic mode on, with the browser brightness all the way up as well. I even did a hard reset, and the low brightness dingy whites are still there on the Note 2. I'm looking into returning the phone for a replacement through the AT&T store I bought it from. Most people don't have this problem on their Note 2's so it seems like its only affecting a few units, but we need to get this out in the open. Maybe there are two different panel types shipping out. Please check and compare your Note 2's white's brightness compared to other Note 2's and other original notes and report here.
I'm also seeing the same dirty white screen. I might go to the local AT&T store to compare it with another Note 2 if they have a demo unit. If anyone can do this and get side by side comparisons I'd like to see this. I hesitate to do a replacement because they are probably only going to offer a refurbished unit as a replacement and the chances are it's going to be another unit with the same issue.

The AT&T store said they would order me a new one. When I called customer care (611) they would only offer a refurbished phone. So stick to the exchanging it at the store. The store I bought it from doesn't have any more in stock but are willing to order me a new one.
You know what stop comparing note 2 to other screens. Every screen has different color calibration and software versions effect this.
My first phone was galaxy s1 and the screen seemed fine since I had no other phone to compare but I compared to my ipod touch 2nd gen. Sgs1 had blue tint. Then I got sgs2 and the screen was very purplish compared to my friends sgs2.
I was obsessed to get the perfect screen so I changed it 5 times. 1 for the dead pixel and 2nd for the white spot on tje screen and the last 3 for the purplish hue. 3rd phone was really purple and obviously something was wrong. And I checked all the phones that are on display in various stores they had yellowish hue. But still compared to sgs1 it had warmer whites. Now I have note 2 and I recently put all 4 of them side by side and compared.
Sgs1: cool blue tint, looks very unnatural.
Sgs2: has a red hue compared to sgs1 but still looks not as warm (red) compared to itouch.
Note2: compared to sgs1&sgs2 it has a warmer white, much much better color balance of them all. However compared to itouch I realized it has a yellow hue.
BUT!!!! I compared it to my laptop's white and 40" lcd tv's white, note 2 still as not yellow as my laptop and tv.
If I were you I would try to enjoy the phone instead of comparing it unless its an obvious defect. Each screen is different and has to be calibrated. Its just means the calibration is different then other devices.
I have to admit, when I compared note 2 to itouch I was surprised by the yellow hue but I am not gonna go and change it again. Not every 2 screen is the same.
Think that your "note2 doesnt have a yellow hue" , maybe its your old note has a blue hue?
Also if you tilt the screen and look it from different angles you will see yellow hue disappear. I had the exact same thing on sgs2. You have to live with it. I am %100 sure even if you change 5 times you will end up with the same problem.
Wow fukn bs yellow ****

warfanax is pretty right I went and exchanged it today for another note 2 and it looks the same an 4 units tested in store, all had warm whites....so that being said the OG note still has a brighter "looking"screen and brighter whites even if they are blue it gives the appearance of being brighter. Oh well, I'll live with it for the quad core and 2 gigs of ram though. Cant have everything...
I don't have the programming knowledge but don't think an app that changes screen colors is very hard to make. Some kind of color boost is already included in our phones in display section.
There was an app like that for sgs1 that let you tweak RGB colors.

Thanks for the link but that app only washed the screen out with the contrast adjustment. It washed out the black levels. I just realized that I'm running Paranoid Android on my original Note and under Settings>Display there is an option for filtering and dimness. Its set to (20) by default. If I lower the number to like 10 it then matches my note 2's screen brightness at 100%. Its as if this Paranoid Android setting makes the back light on the Note 1 put out brighter (while killing battery life I'm sure) while still keeping the black levels black. Could this setting be what is making my note look brighter than my note 2 and can settings like those be applied with a new rom or an app on the Note 2?
I exchanged out my Grey GN2 for a white version for another defect issue yesterday and the screen on this new phone is definitely whiter. I'm happy, but I agree with others that the yellowish screen was probably due to normal manufacturing tolerance variations.

I'm within my 14 day window so I'm going to go to the ATT store and compare mine to another GN2 and if mines deficient I'll have them replace it. Will post back with results in a few days.

Screen much dimmer than AT&T version?

I have the One from AT&T and picked up the One from Verizon today. I am at 50% (give or take) battery life on both, but the Verizon screen is not nearly as bright. I, of course, have auto brightness turned off and it is set to max. I did notice there is no power saver option on the VZ version. Anyone else seeing this? White backgrounds look washed out compared to the other version.
I had an AT&T One for work for a little while and I don't notice a difference from then to now.

I too have a Sprint HTC One and Verizon. I just noticed this as well. I started to look around forums and see that because either Vzn or HTC decided to bake in the power saver feature into the core ROM we do not have the manual option.
My guess is that the display is either set to perma dim or it has something to.do with not being fully charged? Either way it's kinda annoying when looking at both.

VZW quality not as good as others?
I've got a T-Mobile HTC One and I really, really like it. The only problem is T-Mobile's coverage in my area is less than acceptable. So I went and got a Verizon One the day it was released. I noticed rather quickly that the fit and trim did not fit together nearly as well as the T-Mobile One. I took it back to compare with others and it seemed the store I went to had a bad batch, they all had that issue, so I returned it.
I just bought another One via Swappa and I'm glad to say this one has the quality feel that I like so much about the T-Mobile One but the screen is noticeably dimmer and it seems to have narrower viewing angle too. So far this makes strike 2. The Verizon phone just doesn't seem to be up to the same standard as the T-Mobile (and earlier released?) versions. I don't know if this is a VZW problem or the result of cost cutting measures at HTC due to their current financial problems. Either way, it's very disappointing.
If only T-Mobile had decent service in my area...
could be Verizon wanting to "save battery life"

I actually see no physical difference between my AT&T version and the Verizon version. Only the screen being slightly dimmer. That being said, the verizon phone appears to render colors more accurately then the AT&T. My Verizon speakers are also louder and the sensor that controls the lighting of the soft keys is much improved. AT&T version required the room to be way to dark before they would come on. This one is much better. At first the dimmer screen bothered me a bit, but now not at all since the colors are more accurate.

Honestly, it does save battery life as well.
With root..
I can always change the screen dim values to the same as AT&T by diffin out the framework files and using theirs, had one wanted anyway.
I currently have a developer edition HTC One with 4.2.2 and a Sprint HTC One 4.1.2, plus this past Sunday picked up a blue Verizon HTC One from Best Buy and noticed it is dimmer, and has a different tint to it (it looks a bit warmer than the other carrier devices). I even took it into a couple carrier stores to compare it directly to see if my other devices were different or if it was my particular Verizon One. Well, the other carriers ones looked better and the other Verizon Ones looked the same.
Not only was the screen dimmer and had worse colors, but the glass at the top of the screen on my Verizon One was popped out a bit more past the aluminum bezel and the bottom was flush with it. The other two I have are equal feeling on top and bottom. I pushed on the top glass/digitizer of the screen and it went in even with the bezel, later I checked and it had popped out further again.
Then I took it back to Best Buy and asked if I could look at one or two of their One's (looked at a Blue and a Silver), and they both had the same screen brightness and color issue, and one of them had a similar screen/bezel issue.
So while it may not have bothered, or even been noticeable to the average use, myself with two other carrier Ones and somewhat picky if a device is at all feeling off...simply returned it and hope it gets fixed. Too bad too, as I really liked the blue and Verizon is my carrier of choice.
No issues with mine. I only use max brightness when outside in direct sunlight. Otherwise I'm at 33% and see everything crystal clear.
FWIW my htc one is WAY more dim than my INC4, like while rebooting, the white htc logo is almost blinding me on inc4, and much nicer dim on htc one.

Yeah, I really am ok with the dimmer screen now. I was looking at my wife's AT&T HTC One just now since I got her a Verizon version and am transferring crap. Many of the blue (something like Handcents borders) are just washed out. The VZ version is just right. This may be a version of the power saving option that HTC built in (Controllable on the ATT version but not this one), but not completely. When I turn the ATT power save on it significantly reduces the screen brightness. Much much more than the dimness of this screen. I really wonder if this screen is just calibrated a bit better since color rendition is so much more accurate when compared to the ATT model at any brightness.
Either way, battery life is hours better on this version.

I do believe Verizon does what they can for "features" to save battery life. Personally I like it DIM, easrly in the morning turning the phone on from fastboot or off, that white animations is soo bright, it's not too bad on the HTC One.

Yeah, I saw that with my S3 as well. Still, the Verizon version does do better with colors. Who knows...
Simple Solution
The HTC One has a very oddly Placed Ambient Light Sensor, so when you go into Landscape Mode, your Hand comes over it.
Thus, the Screen Dims Down.
Solution:
Either Remove your hand or Disable it Permanently

F400S vs D850 LCD Quality/Color

I currently own both models because I am a US AT&T user and was thinking about switching from a white f400S (korean variant) to the black AT&T D850 model but the lcd looks yellow compared and not as bright on the AT&T version and this is consistent with all of them, not just mine (I work in a store so I have been comparing as I sell them).
Any guesses as to why? And does anyone else notice a very small but definitely noticeable checkerboard look on these phones when looking at a blank screen or over the flat colors? the quality seems poor for a 2k display and I have been satisfied with my f400. It doesn't make sense being that LG wouldn't outsource their displays to different manufacturers.
I bought 2 Sprint g3's and they have different displays. One is more yellowish but seems to have a bit better contrast and the other is cooler or bluer looking and seems to be a little brighter. Its really odd since I bought both at the same time on launch day but one is gold and the other is black.

Why I'm returning my S20 FE 5G

I have now had my phone for a little less than 3 days, and I've been happy with the speed it' blazingly much faster than my OnePlus 7T pro. It seems that I forgot my most important task when I buy a new phone: Test the screen quality on grey backgrounds.
One the 2nd day I noticed a faint white bar going through the middle of the screen while using spotify, so this morning I tested my trusty grey backgrounds, and one of them in particular had a nice/shocking result. One the left we see my OP7T with perfect color rendition, on the right the S20 FE that shows a brownish mess with lines going all over the place. I'm sorry for the bad quality cause this was taken on an aging Nokia 7 Plus and I couldn't make the picture sharp no matter what, but it gets the point across.
I did my research. I watched all tech youtubers of note reviews/comment on this phone and I thought since this phone is largely based off of the Galaxy A51 I thought they had the production figured out. But nope.
3 years ago this wouldn't have been as much of a problem, but since I use dark mode all over the place now, I just see these lines all the time, and once you see, you cannot unsee.
Multitouch issue. I have tested another one but same problem. Finally flagship with Snapdragon for EU. But sorry the phone is not complete.
omg it's not a problem you can disenable that line .
I use dark mode and low brightness settings indoors, I've not encountered this banding. I know that if you video the screen on low brightness you can see the screen pulsing but that's not a use case I'm going to deal with.
