Any reviews on Socblue? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

Has anyone tried using Socblue in the note?

Socblue user
Hi, how are all of you out there?
Yeh, i am a socblue user. It is working fine well almost fine, it does not work via BT on my car sadly. There is an application to download an then you pair the device after loading the battery and inserting the 2 sims.
Really, it is a peace of cake when you read the instructions well. I did not the first time and could not pair the device. Standby time is a couple
of days now. (Bought it about 4 days ago) I think i am on 50 %. Stupid they made an apple plug only. i am using it one android an iphone.

that's wonderful news. so the android application works fine on our note. how about the battery of your note? since it must be connected all the time to socblue via bluetooth, how long does your galaxy note typically last in a day, with bluetooth on and always connected to socblue?

Where did you find the app ?
Can't fnd it in the market place.

the socblue app is not on marketplace. try searching google for the manual of socblue and you will see in the manual where it is supposed to be downloaded.
i have not yet purchased socblue, as i am still waiting for a review as to typical battery life of both the note and socblue, where socblue is connected to the phone continuously.

That sounds fishy, it's no problem for us to install whatever but this is retail product (and not a cheap one). Marketplace is the ueberstandard for installing and upgrading apps.

well not really. i believe marketplace imposes a charge (US$25 i think) for uploading an application, even if its free.
anyway, it's not really for me to say because i have not even purchased one yet.

:good:

i just downloaded the android app for socblue android here.
http://apt.fise.com.cn/android
i'm also planning to purchase one for myself to be used for my Note 10.1

Hi,
So sorry for my late response.
I now use the N7100. I sold my Note 1.
Sadly it won't function on my Note 2. I have been hours away trying to connect. I have mailed the sellers but no result.
Sad sad. So i took another step and bought a h7100. A chinese copy of the note 2 with dual sim. Briljant!!
Good luck, gues, with your socblue!!

do you think because N7100 is already running JB?
have to hold off my purchase then. is gmate+ better?
*update
just got myself a gmate+ instead of the socblue. paired it perfectly with the Note 10.1
unless you really need 2 extra sims, i would recommend gmate+.
btw, im not connected with the gmate company, just one happy customer.
=)

Hello yesterday I bought this one amazon.com/Quad-Standby-Adapter-Android-Phones/dp/B009EN28MM
I have a htc rezound with the latest OTA.I download socblue and I can pair my phone with i-partner through bluetooth and I can see the second sim from i-partner.But when I try to make a call or send sms then the bluetooth close and nothing happened...Anybody have any idea??Thank you all

GPS Software Ideas - T-Mobile Dash
Im in desperate need to find a good GPS program that works with the Dash. My bluetooth GPS receiver came in today but I need to find a GPS program.
I have searched this site, and well the Search sucks and returned about 2 or 3 things pertaining to GPS Software.
Anyone got some ideas?

Fixed... No wonder no one had replied. Thanks
I won't lie, I've been trying to install several pirated version of it today. And it just doesn't seem to work. The closest of my attempts has been when TomTom opened up then asked for configurations then told me TomTom is not compatible with this device. Sigh. Gladly I didn't go out a buy it before trying it.
And what makes you think that a paid product will not work, just for trying it's pirated version???
I'm no saint, also tried out several pirated GPS software, AFTER I bought R66.
R66 always performed to the standarts, while all the others gave some kind of problem. I succed to make some work, but it's just too much trouble... for me, anyway.
I would advice to question the software development houses, regarding compatibity issues with your device, just to be on the safe, but I don't see why a comercial, legal version would not work correctly.

I can assure you that TT 6 works just fine on Excalibur. Retail product I mean. Certain cracked version also works, but I advice against it since developers deserve to be rewarded for their hard work.

I agree, but you can bet your ass im not shelling out that much to find out it doesn't work. I've tried several TT6 and TT5, and for some reason it says not compatible for this device. I will take your word on it though and take TT6 into consideration with Route 66 Mobile 7.
Vmiguel, do you have R66 Mobile 7 on a Dash? I've been looking at buying this. Also If you do, I read that it comes with MiniSD/SD but the Dash uses Micro SD. Are you able to install from the DVD to micro sd?
Im particularly looking for a good GPS Software that I can download online and pay for. But if I have to I can order it.
TomTom 6
I've been trying to locate TomTom6; however, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Amazon says "Coming Soon" -- as does the tomtom.com website. Is this product available in the U.S. yet (European version seems to be shipping, though...)
Also, does the bluetooth receiver included in the package need an external power source, or is it battery powered?
The online materials don't mention compatibility with the T-Mobile Dash specifically...
Thanks!

Yeah, I noticed you could order TomTom 5 from TomTom.com but TomTom 6 didn't have a purchase option.
I already have a bluetooth GPS receiver, so I am seriosuly thinking I might just order Route 66 Mobile 7 WMS.
If you guys know of any other compatable GPS software please post it.
Copilot Live
Has anyone tried Copilot Live? I read some reviews that seemed to recommend the product -- and it's a lot easier to find than Route 66.
Also, anyone have some thoughts in general about using a smartphone (such as our beloved Dash) for GPS navigation as opposed to just buying a dedicatd unit?
Thanks!
Another GPS Question...
Here's one more question. Can all of these packages be installed on a Micro SD card and run from there? Or does the main app have to be installed in phone memory? It seems these apps take a significant amount of space (6 Megs for Copilot Live, 16 Megs for Route66, etc.), so it would be a shame to be forced to install them in phone memory...
Thanks!
I'll get my Excalibur in couple of hours and will post some impressions and screen shots.

I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL.
TomTom does not work on Smartphone. It installs fine, but then there is no possibility to pick correct com port and keyboard pressing does not correspond properly.
OK, I just ordered Route66 online from their shop. I'll let you know how is it after it arrives - within next week or so.

You have to try iGO 2006. This is very nice and easy software. Works for me and as original is pre installed on Mini SD, so it should work on any PDA's.
Check there web: http://www.i-go.com/en/
I love it, has lot of countries and even details on Ireland.

Nice, but no North America maps...
mapopolis
I like mapopolis. It has GPS support, street-by-street driving instructions (with voice prompt), business and place-of-interest look up, etc.
So, if you're wondering in and about a different neighborhood, you can click on the businesses and it will give you their telephone number/location, etc. You can also look up driving directions via address (like mapquest) etc.
It's works great for the pocket PC -- smartphone (like the dash) i suspect is so-so. I've used it on the mx220, and without a touch screen it's just O.K.
The cons would be their web site interface. You pay $99 for unlimited downloads of individual counties in regions of the United States. Since a state like California has 58 counties, (58 separate maps) that's a lot of downloading time. They have an option to just buy an SD card with all the maps on it, but the dash doesn't use SD. (plus it costs more).
However the pros: Trial download. (I think 10 days?). Give it a shot, see if you like it, it uninstalls pretty nicely too.

it has been out for a loooong time, there is another device similar to the Beam was on July, the other one was on March
both are for Europe market
they don't seem to be very popular
they are from the 8000 family, although the spec are very close to the Galaxy S 9000 family

good idea
Just bought mine a week ago from StarHub (the official retailer for galaxy beam).
I second the subforum idea. How about starting a google group as well since the community is so small.
For those who wish to purchase the phone:
You need to place a reservation at StarHub Center before making the purchase. It takes about a week before your phone is ready for collection.
I was lucky enough to get it immediately because someone cancelled his reservation.
waiting for mine, deseperatly ....
i'll check with Admins and Sr Mods to see if they want to create a new forum for it
That's great! Thanks man.
nocomp: you may try bugging their hq at cuppage road. They might just have an extra handset lying around like mine. Haha
i ve bought it from a local shop in singapore, they were agree to send it to me to france.
still waiting for the delivery...... the singapore post tracking service, isn t much alive since 2 days......
i guess that ll be a change from my nexus, what i am pissed of, is that you can t use an app that use camera and projector in the same time
it seems that what has to be done, (part of find a way to upgrade it to froyo):
get gps working when projector is on
get projector working when camera is on
can you tell me if the galaxy beam has also the tv out like galaxy s?
best regards
herve
I have some bad news for you. Samsung has officially stopped software support for that device last month and said there's no plans for official froyo for it as there's just not enough beams out there to warrent the support as it was only sold in Singapore and very small numbers. They now have all development on tablet and galaxy s models. Google for more info. I read that last month someplace

hi
thxx a lot, that news has been goin on here and there fr a while, surely some ppl can adapt 2.2 to the beam model.
i finally received mine )))
bad news, impossible to install an application from android market :'(
never happend before with the nexus, i get the message "unable to download" either i am in wifi or 3g
any idea why?
herve
Hmm never had a problem with market. Have you tried replacing the stock market app with a generic one from ipmart? Perhaps it's locked down to Singapore or something.
Topic moved to General until and if a new proper forum comes into place for this device.
hi,
well i ve took sim card off n sdcard off, and then it was working over wifi.
put the simcard back again and market was working.
no idea wtf happend.
hi,
how can i know what software update is current?
my version is 2.1 update 1
I8520DXJ11
kernel 2.6.29-zeus1
can t find in the setting menu the update section
thx for your help
btw i ve found this, anybody tried it?
http://shomblingteam.blogspot.com/2010/08/samsung-i8520-galaxy-beam.html
My phone is running the same firmware version as yours. It's released on 1 Sept which is more recent than the July version on that blog.
hi,
thx for the news, so if there is an update it ll appear in the "about" section right?
do you know any trick/tweak for allow to run gps when using projector?
herve
Probably, but I doubt there will be any more updates since the beam is not getting froyo. Hopefully I'm wrong...
I'm not aware of any tricks but if you have the time and expertise try editing the source code? Haha I'm no expert either.

Dual SIM standby for the Samsung Galaxy S2

Hey guys,
I mentioned this on another thread but thought it deserved it's own...
So I have a dual sim adapter for sim switching on my galaxy s2 which im happy with but noticed a new product I'd not seen before called Gmate which seems to let you have 2 sims actually active on your phone at the same time.
I emailed the website to see if it was compatible with the Galaxy S2 and they confirmed it was...Obviously this got me excited so I've ordered one!
This is the item and company I've ordered it from...
http://www.magic-sim.com/product-details.php?Product=13
I only ordered it today so can't confirm if it does what it claims to do yet but as soon as it arrives I'll give it a whirl and report back. Hopefully it's going to be as good as it looks!

Right so this has been an unbelievable service...
Ordered yesterday and the MAGICSIM Gmate arrived this morning. Took all of 5 mins to install and it's an incredible device. So so impressed.
It's well built and easy to use and best of all I have 2 sim cards active on my galaxy s2 now.
I can confirm that both sims can receive and make calls, SMS and browse the web.
Couldn't recommend the product or the service highly enough.
Hope this info helps guys!

It is a 2nd device that enables your phone to have 2 sims active at same time?
Yea that's exactly what it is. Both sims are now active.
Yea I can take some pics later. Any specific picture requests?
preferably pictures that show the size of the device
found a youtube movie, looks awsome!
for some reason, the movie isnt showing for me, so here is the link aswell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAFBler2wWI
Yea well I'm loving it. It's light and sexy
Like I said im really chuffed with it and I'd like to give a shout out of support to www.magic-sim.com for offering such a great service.
How do you charge the device and how long does it last?
You charge it off a USB cable to your computer. Well I can't say for definate how long it lasts as I've not ran it dead yet but according to the manual it lasts around the same time as my Samsung battery.
I am also keen on ordering! However, I usually use my sgs 2 with either a Bluetooth headset or my Metawatch / Bluetooth watch.
Can you try using it simultaneously with a Bluetooth headset?

No problem... I've been on the quest for a product like this for a long time so I understand the need to make sure it's what you're after!
I've recently started to use the gmate as well; however I find that it would just suddenly disconnect from time to time. To get it reconnected I would normally have to switch off my bluetooth and than swith it back on again...
I've had mine running constantly since I got it and am yet to have any issues like that. What phone is it SGS2?
I bought a MagicSim 3g dual sim and this is my experience:
- After installation i had no problem. It worked like a charm in STK mode and in 007 mode
- With original samsung battery, there is no way to close properly the phone cover, using a battery replacement, a little bit slimmer, the cover close properly after some efforts.
- After some days (3 days) MagicSim stops working, maybe due to some battery changing. Maybe I damaged the mailard.
I will not buy it again
Cheers

I had one as acessory to my galaxy tab... Every thing worked as expected... For a while.. What happens is that android droppes the connection in sleep.. So you havto reconnect the lv all the time. This makes it useless... It died after three months... Just would not wake up any more... And i could not find the receipt, so no replacement....
However i dont know if they fixed the reconnect issue... This was six months ago...

Hi,
I have one from amazon.de for about €25. I have played with it for 2 or 3 weeks but then I have bored. Disconnection issue is very annoying. You can use a program for it (for $0.99) and it can fix a lot of disconnection issues but not totally. I wanted to be noticed for calls, messages with it but it haven't worked as I expect...
There are 2 or more topics here about it, you can search but it is a little disappointment for me...
Hope this helps.
Bought one a couple of months ago, played with it 20 minutes then putted it back in its box.
After reading your post, I gave another try and...it works like a charm with the soft available on the Market. Mp3 player (stock samsung) control is ok, sms, incoming calls... I do not use FB or Twitter, so don't know if it's ok with this.
I do not have issue with connection (maybe because I played just 20 minutes again)

guys any conformation whether it works with the note?
It works on my Note (running Criskelo's LPY), except for any external plug-ins. Thats seems to be an ICS problem of the SE software for Android.
You also 'need' LiveView Manager ($$) to keep it up-to-date after your Note disconnects to save energy. Remark: it polls, so it's not really 'live'.
And you're right, it's on sale and a nice gadget.
Sony has a firmware update for the little thing when you install their Update Service Software and you put it in dowload mode.
So anybody else tried this on the note and updated the software sothat it does not disconnect looks good and would be handy for my work if it worked the way they say and amazon has it for £20 if its the same thing also notice that sony has a liveview 2 coming soon dropped the Ericsson
I have the orginal smart watch and its works fine with ICS LPY (non rooted) on my note and the watch is fully up to date.
It does drop connection now and again if you dont use it for a while. Its still no perfect but it works ok for me.

In-Flight (USB/Dock) Keyboard for Note

I just realized one thing I'll miss about my Transformer is having a physically connected keyboard that I can use while travelling by plane. From what I've read Bluetooth keyboards are a no-no for in flight usage. Has anyone used a USB connected mini-keyboard using the Samsung USB adapter? I also know Samsung will be coming out (from what I've read here) with a keyboard dock but it's not available yet. I thought I also read somewhere that the Tab 10.1 dock will work with the Note 10.1.
Has anyone had any luck or a good setup for using an in-flight keyboard setup for the Note 10.1?

I'm ready to order one! Don't even care about battery and ports on the Asus one I had. Sure it was nice but I've lived without them just fine. Just need a real hardware keyboard for travel.

Ok, I know everyone will probably gag on this but...
As I was reading this thread, I went upstairs and obsconded (kids dont use it, WTH) the WII Usb KB and connected it. Works fantastic!
If you have one laying around... it may solve your want.
I picked up the official Samsung keyboard dock last week, it works nicely for that purpose!

Unfortunately, it's expensive and not available in most stores yet. Picked it up from the Samsung store in Sydney CBD.
Just so you know, Australia and USA both use the US keyboard layout (as opposed to the UK, which uses the UK layout), so maybe that could help you guys in the states source one of these? You won't have a messed up layout like you would ordering from the UK. Then again, I don't know any Australian place offering these for shipping internationally so that could be moot.

Very frustrating to not have these available for purchase in the US.
Is it possible to close it? Like the transformer or a regular laptop? Dont feel like not being able to close it..
An extra battery would be nice though incase of very long flights or train/car rides..
It doesn't hinge so you can't "fold" it closed like a regular laptop. Instead you just pull it out of the dock.
I know it has been discussed but I wanted to share my work. Not beautiful but it works. This is the dock for the Tab 10.1 modified for use with my Note 10.1

Sorry man but "not beautiful" is an understatement. Let's just say I'm glad I waited for the Note 10.1 version!
Anyone tried this one? Ordered and am waiting on shipment - which takes forever

I think someone posted a link to the same thing, but on eBay. Don't think anyone's ordered it yet.

I'll give details and feedback when I get it. The shipping sucks though. Schedule for 12-18 arrival
