[APP] Camera JB+ 1.1.1 - 720p camcorder - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

Hi all, my name is Ignacio and I'm an indie mobile developer.
My last app, "Camera JB+" has now full Nexus 7 support and also exclusive features for this device (new live fx effects on video recording: pencil, lomo & documentary).
Unfortunately only paid version (1.99$) is available, but I hope to release a free/limited version soon. Anyway, If you want to try it and after testing you are not happy with it I will refund the money (no 15 minutes limit).
Also, if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer.
Thank you very much!

Your app looks interesting. Seeing as you've developed a camera app, maybe you would be able to shed some light on the low fps in low light settings with the nexus 7. Maybe this is too low level OS wise and you wouldn't be able to answer but I'm just curious. I'm wondering if it's a software issue that caps the fps (maybe increasing the exposure to take in more light) in low light settings. I've seen videos of the nexus 7 in bright light settings and even though others knock the camera, I am competely happy with it in good lighting, but when the fps drop to single digits, it's pretty bad.

Hello,
I bought the app and I like it. Something I miss is a macro mode. Is it possible to have it? Without it didn´t make much sence for me. I make 90% near pictures with the Galaxy S 2! Thx
Edit: I search the thread by google. Now I see it is in the nexus 7 section. Why? I also can buy it (GS 2). So maybe it will be better in the global android app section?

Did you read the permission list for this app? I would not touch that with a 10 foot pole!

Hi,
I have just updated the app (version 1.1.1) to support 720p video recording without need to be root or change any profile.
About the excessive permissions required, I think you are right. The app is based on Android 4.1 open source code camera app by Google and I used the same permissions. I will check on next release all the permissions and remove all not needed. Sorry for this.
On the problem about low fps in low light conditions I think it's a hardware problem but I have to check if it could be improved modifying some parameters on software camcorder.
Regards,
Ignacio.

Man this is great!! Once the permissions get updated I'll be all over this! Thanks for your hard work!

If I recall right, under the shops options, you can remove permissions from apps.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on this. I was really hoping it's not a hardware issue. If so, could it have been intentional to allow more light in per frame? It's really a shame if this is a hardware issue.

[APP] LiveCam - Watch the image from your pda's camera in a Web browser

Hello, this is my another release (though you may not remember previous ones).
My little app is called LiveCam and it allows you to watch what your phone's (rear) camera sees. Currently still images are taken every 5 seconds, and you can only see still images in browser but in future I'ma make it able to transfer real-time video! The app is totally uncustomizable for now because I only wanted to make it work. It contains whole lot of bugs. The app consists of 2 parts joined in 1 executable:
- a camera server that takes picture every 5 second
- a small HTTP server that allows you to see the most current image.
App could be possible only thanks to Alex Mogurenko's DirectShow .NET CF
How-to:
- Copy LiveCam.exe and DirectShow.NETCF.DLL to one folder wherever on your device.
- Ensure you have at least 400kB free space on your device root folder.
- Check your device name in Start > Settings > System > About. E.g. mine is HTC52, some may be Pocket_PC or alike. You may change it for more friendly for you or easier to remember if you want but do it now.
- Connect your phone to WiFi or ActiveSync/WMDC. Wait until the connection is established.
- Run LiveCam.exe. Click "Enable Cam" button (don't worry there's still a camera disabled text, if you see picture from your camera then everything's allright). Click "Enable HTTP" button (same here, don't worry of the HTTP disabled text).
- Run your PC's web browser and point to http://your_device_name:1222/
e.g. http://HTC52:1222/ Should be working.
- If you want to use it via data connection you must first activate it, however it won't work if you don't have external IP service.
- If you want to access it from an Internet computer (not in your subnet), please redirect 1222 port on your WiFi router, check your Pocket PC's IP.
Tested only on HTC KAISER. May not work on other devices. Please report.
Note this is a pre-pre-pre-alpha-release and it has maybe 10% of the functionality I want it to have.
Known bugs/limitations:
- Only 240x320 available res (will be fixed)
- Only still images, no video (5 seconds)
- No auto-refresh in web server must refresh manually to see current image (will be fixed easily)
- No customizable HTML page (will be fixed easily)
- No customizable HTTP port (will be fixed easily)
- No way of turning Flashlight (should be fixed)
- May hang up or eat memory as I didn't try it for longer time. Please always use the Give up button to exit app so that resources are believed to be released then.
If you like the app, I will make it really usable in next version but I must know that I don't work just for myself.
.NET CF 2.0 IS REQUIRED!
It works on my Blackstone(Touch HD)
It crashes when you click on init server multiple times and it doesn't show that it's running but you can access it through the browser.
I'd really like to have a webcam app that really works because other software I tried always had bugs or didn't work at all.
wonderful idea.. and it works great! (touch hd as well)
U dont work just for yourself, keep it going bro
Edit: Touch HD - working! Qtek 9100 - not working!
TyTN Stock
Frakken Awesome!
Works on my unbranded stock Kaiser. Keep up the good work!
its great for my htc touch hd .... owesome and it would be bloody owesome if it would be motion i mean video
Awesome!

Works on blackstone wm6.5 via web ^^
but config screen doesn't update to "enabled", even if server and cam are enabled. just says "disabled" but works. keep up your pretty idea. looking forward to new versions.
some feature-wishes:
- option to turn off the display during stream
- password lockable web interface, so you can only watch the camera if you have the password (htaccess)
- auto refresh in browser and choise between photo and video
- autosave video to sd
- option to switch between main and front camera
- portrait/landscape switch
- ... ^^ sry
where do I enter the address ? is it under LAN settings in IE ?
Thanks!
It works on my old Dopod 818 pro
hi, welcome back video should be possible, it is no bug that after clicking 'initialize' nothing changes, the app was written very fast and therefore not fully implemented. But if I happen to find some time, I may make it better. But no promises Thank you very much for feedback, I thought no one except me could find use for this.
This ideal is good if video streaming is included.

Hello guys,
VIO is a free Windows Mobile Application based on motion detection
How does it work ?
--------------------------------------
VIO uses the phone's camera to capture and detect any motion.
Motion will be detected by comparing the actual picture with one reference picture that will be automatically refreshed (settings allow you to specify when it must be refreshed)
Two ways of comparison are available :
- Squares
Easy way and really fast ; the picture will be cut to squares, you just need to specify square's width + squares sensibility + minimum squares needed to trigger an alert
- Edges
More accurate but slower ; the difference between actual picture and reference picture will give us some zones, these zones will be extracted one by one, if one contains the minimum pixels needed you set then it will trigger an alert.
When motion is detected VIO will :
- save picture as .jpg
- send mails containing pictures to the email address you defined.
- send sms to alert you anywhere
More descriptions (V1 infos, i didn't updated about V2 now) here :
http://vio-detection.com/index.php?page=vio
Versions
----------------------
V2
==
- Edges detection
- Dead zones
- New menu
- Play sound on motion detected
V1
==
- Detect any motion
- Automatically save pictures
- Send emails with pictures included
- Send sms alert
- Set detection sensibility
- Compatible from Windows Mobile 5.0 to 6.5
- Compatible with all screen resolutions
- Need NET Compact Framework 3.5
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There it is
I didn't give a lot of explications but it's better to try by yourselves.
Tried on HD2, but it does not capture anything. Should I be able to see the camera or?
You're the second one to tell me that it doesn't works on HD2, actually i don't have any clue.
Can you tell me what camera's resolutions are available plz ?
Plus if you find a file like "VIO-Errors.log" in your root can you plz tell me the content ?
Thanks
I will give i a try, because i will test all apps that's support the cam.
But one question i have now:
Which camera is used in this case (back or front)?
Report:
Tested on my phone (signature), but the app will not startup.
I see the cursor animation but nothing happens. Softreset was done.

I will try to run all the solutions in VIO. BUT - should I be able to SEE the camera caoture?
Yep there must be a live preview, don't waist your time by searching if any other parameters will fix it, if you already don't have any preview then it will not works.
I f i got free time maybe i will try to find what the problem is.
Thanks
Thanks for the share. VIO works as specified with no errors on HTC Touch (cdma).

Any app under development can cause problems. It's all use at your own risk otherwise you'd be buying it off an app store. Hopefully you backed up your phone extensively and can restore it.

Works perfectly on my Mogul. Awesome!
In my HTC HD2 log file, show something about cannot find Pinvoke on Native.dll
Works fine on my Diamond but only after installing it to the main mem. Doesn't like being installed to internal storage.
Thanks!!

Theoretically couldnt this app be used to emulate an accelerometre on devices that lack the hardware, or am I completely wrong?

Hi, it's probably linked to the file "\Program Files\VIO\settings.conf", please try to delete it and start the app.
To Uppy => yep it can be done somehow but it's really hard to make something reliable for some reasons :
- how do the phone know his start position
- only slow motions can make it works because of the slow fps
- etc..
I see, still an interesting idea, even if it's not practical.
Great app, none the less
Great app with much potential, thank you.
I think this is a great app. But there is one thing I am missing why not send the email through wifi. In that case you can put your phone any where in the reach of your network. (great for spare phones)

Hi,
Thanks for the app
I just tested ... But i have not noticed any improvement than the original camera.
On your app i set the jpeg quality to ultra, nothing
For the same picture with the original app the size of the picture with your app is smaller (same condition/same object)
Jpeg quality set to Ultra is not expected to reduce the compression?
Same for the video, with your app and bitrate *2:same size
For the video bitrate when you edit the media_profiles.xml by yourself the size of the video is bigger...
Or did not understand the purpose of this application about a quality improvement?
In any case thanks for this, visually it's perfect
I keep the app pending improvements in picture quality.
The rest of the settings works well.
Rom:AOKP running android 4.0.3.
Thanks Viking37!
The quality improvement was intended to people who have not edited the media_profiles.xml file.
The app gets the media_profiles.xml for image qualities (low/medium/high). Ultra is a 100 quality.
2x bitrate doubles the media_profiles.xml values (with a max. limit to avoid overflow).
Main work in the app was to make app Honeycomb (Android 3.1) tablets compatible. Now, I can work on global improvements!
Ok,but when i tested your app my media_profiles.xml was stock (no change).
And after set the jpeg quality to Ultra and the video bitrate to *2...my media_profiles.xml has not changed value, always stock
Maybe that's what made that there is no improvement in picture quality, the media_profiles.xml is not changed with your app...
After reboot nothing is changed...
For edit the media_profiles.xml you need root access, your app does not ask for root access,or i am wrong for this?
In any case if i doesn't mount my system as r/w i can't edit the media_profiles.xml.
The app does not change or edit the media_profiles.xml. App only gets the values from this file (as stock camera does) and then uses the selected value on the "improved settings". Tell me if you have more questions or ideas to improve the app. Thanks again!
Ah ok,sorry for my mistake...
I will continue to test and see...
Thanks
Is there version without ads? Where are those ads appearing ? In applcation?

unfortunately only version with ads/banners is available right now. :-(
I hope to release a pro version with exclusive features and no ads soon.

Is that work with 3.0.1 ?
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1v but that don't work it all, when I start it, it's look like a Picasso =)
can you add
- an option to autofocus before snapping a picture
- option to use Volume button to snap a picture
these are the two most requested for the nexus camera. While autofocusing right before taking a picture doesnt make the nexus camera pic quality perfect, it greatly improves all pictures. I would definitely take that over zero-shutter lag.
Hi m3tallikris,
I think the app should work on 3.0.1, but I will check it again.
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Will test, thank you for this. A couple of things: won't download from market if you have modded screen density. Can you add widescreen? Burst shot? Turn on/off auto focus?
Edit: shooting side by side, indoor, poor light conditions, no flash. Stock image usual quality. Your app, same conditions, quality set to ultra, compression artifacts ARE GONE! This is great.

Hi all,
Thanks for the ideas to improve the app, I will try to include them!
m3tallikris I have some "good news", my acer iconia downgraded to 3.0.1 doesn't work. I will check this problem on my tablet.
cipheruin I'm not sure why the read SMS is required (I use the AOSP 4.0.3 as base). I promise that I will verify the code and remove this permission if it's not required for any feature.
Pierre118 Please, could you tell me your device model and Android version?
Oh, no prob, it is a "good" new, now we know i'm not crazy and not the only one =p
Thank you, it will be great to have this camera on Tab, i have the Galaxy Nexus and the camera is great with the effects etc etc
If you need others tests or testers, don't hesitate =)
Good job !

Themes / Apps / Mods Background tasks and tweaks to supercharge your Galaxy Fold 4

G'day all, just wanted to share some custom tasks that operate in the background to supercharge your experience.
These work in tasker and macrodroid. I use macrodroid as I prefer the layout and setup of tasks.
I won't go into too much detail because each automation app has different implementations and layouts.
Some need root, others don't. I have my Fold 4 rooted so I'm unsure what doesn't actually require it.
My favourite is dismissing the lockscreen. I don't need a lockscreen because the way I see it is, when I pick up my phone, I intend to use it, so I find it utterly pointless having a lockscreen and time wasting to swipe it away everything I use my phone. I simply pick it up, double tap the screen or hit the power button, and it unlock instantly for me.
The task is simple... the trigger is when the screen turns on. The task itself is to activate the shell/terminal and use the following command: wm dismiss-keyguard. It's that simple.

The next is maps location. The only thing I used my location for is when using maps. The task is simple... when my maps app is launched, the location/gps is automatically turned on... and when I close the app, the location/gps is automatically turned off.
Doing this saves the battery by not having the location on all the time, and adds the convenience of turning the location/gps on/off so you don't have to.
Another is silent mode. I create a task to automatically put my phone on silent at 9pm and turns it off at 7am. You can set it to whatever you like. I know this can be done with things like Do Not Disturb but I like having all background tasks in one place, as opposed to some in macrodroid, others in Modes and Routines and others in Do Not Disturb.
The Fold 4 has 12GB of RAM on my 512GB model (I think the smaller storage options has less RAM, I could be wrong).
So there's 2 mods here. They help speed up the device by preventing continual compression and decompression on areas in RAM as well as faster app usage by disabling slow storage space that gets used as RAM instead of the much faster RAM itself.
The first one is by going to Settings>Battery and Device Care>Memory and turning off "RAM Plus".
What this is used for is when you have so much running, that your device uses part of your actual device storage as RAM. Doing this is much, much slower than only using RAM. The only case you'd need this enabled is if you're running a breathtaking amount of apps at once. I can be running a VPN, torrent downloads, cloud storage uploads, call of duty and a movie at the same time, all on Samsung DeX and only get to about 8 out of the 12GB used, so I know I'll never need RAM Plus.
The second one I know requires root. I flashed a Magisk root module called zRAM Swap Manager. Theres a shell command I have set up on macrodroid to run when the device boots up: zsm -f
What this does is disable RAM using compressed spaces to run apps. It speeds up usage and multitasking (most likely unnoticeably, but I like knowing it's disabled for performance sake).
Another 2 tasks I love is for VPN use. A lot of VPNs don't automatically reconnect when a connection is lost. I use IPVanish which is one that doesn't. I've also noticed that the VPN disconnects when starting and ending Samsung DeX.
I have two tasks set up. One is a series of UI interactions to take place upon VPN disconnect. It detects the VPN status then automatically launches my VPN app, clicks the connect button, then waits for it to connect before returning to the previous app I was in. If the screen is off at the time of disconnect, the task will turn the screen on, launch the app and connect, then go to the homescreen before turning the screen back off.
The second task is set up to run the above task whenever Samsung Dex is started or ended, as well as when the device boots up.
Another task I have set up is detect when a Bluetooth device is disconnected, wait 30 seconds, then turn the Bluetooth off. I have it set up to wait 30 seconds in case of the situation where I put my earbuds in their case, then want to connect to another device. It just saves me having to turn my Bluetooth back on after putting my earbuds away and that 30 seconds gives me time to take my time getting my phone out of my pocket, turning another Bluetooth device on then going to settings and connecting to it.
Another one is intruder selfies and location. If I have a pass code on and someone tries to get into my phone, it will take a photo of them then upload it to my online cloud, then also turn the location on and continually send coordinates to my best mate and my parents.
The one thing I hate about android is not being able to choose where media is saved. Like if I download photos from Reddit, Signal or my Web browser, I want to be able to have all my downloaded photos, videos and documents organised throughout my device. Same goes for camera videos/photos and screenshots/recordings.
I have tasks set up to run when certain apps are closed. For example, when I close my camera, the task will automatically move all photos and videos (if I've taken any) from the DCIM folder to a folder called Camera in either the Videos folder or the Pictures folder (depending if it's a photo or video being moved).
Same goes for screenshots and recordings. The app used on Samsung for screenshots and recordings is called Samsung Capture... so I have a task to run when Samsung Capture is closed that moves all screenshots and recordings from the DCIM folder to a folder in Pictures called Screenshots or a folder in Videos called Screen recordings.
Hope this is all of some interest to atleast someone
Thank you for sharing your tweaks ; )
1st test was disabling lockscreen : seems not working without root (but we can disable it through stock settings and i revert back cause it's not safe ... Google send popup to risolve problem etc...
2nd test was disabling ram plus : i tested since yesterday all was fine until i received a call and it was terrible (lags and impossible to answer lol so back to zram+ (F936B 256go has also 12go ram)
I'm searching how to enable icons on status bar (NFC or netspeed indicators)... BTW i don't want to root so it will not be easy.
Thanks again forbyour tips
Hi mate, thanks for this excellent write-up. Could you let me know how to add actions within an action? For example, how did you add the App Foreground sub-action within the Location Service On action?
Edit: Figured it out. It's a Constraint and not a sub-action!
Is there any significant difference between your MacroDroid script for location based services and a Bixby routine?
