Is there anyway better to increase my internal memory that LINK2SD APP? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
xperia arc memory is only 320 MB
and LINK2SD method is make my app start slow and not smoothly at all, so is there any way better than these ?
My arc is stock ICS rooted, stock kernel

Hi,
The only other way is to use apps2sd. Though this only moves some apps to the sd card, and you will still end up having problems with space.
Link2SD is the best option. If it's running slow, get a faster class card like a class 6 or class 10

just Flash Arc S FTF,
u Will Get 420 MB Internal Space.
Problem Solved

with titanium backup, you can move apps to the system rom, using free space that other ways gets wasted.

i think you right my SD is class 2, and the other partition system is FAT i think this system type is slow to manage files unlike EXT3,4
(i use it because its the only type witch work with sotck ICS)

Thanks,,

get a class 10 memory card..then try link2sd..your apps will open in a flash

There is a new way to increase internal memory. AD2SDX.
here is the thread for the AD2SDX: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18561098
and in that thread one person has claimed it is better than Link2SD.
I want to do it..but i am searching if anyone has tried it first.

Installing on sd?

I have made some trick with adb but it doesn't work or partially anyway. It installed one app I think on the sd and all other normally on phone memory. I have 2.2 normal android, not rooted or anything. How can I install apps on sd card without rooting my phone? I will root it eventually just don't have time for it these days.
Go Settings > Applications > pick an app > click move to SD
The app will only move to SD card if it can. Not all apps can but most of them.

Will probably do that in a week or two. Is this option available, I mean to install directly on sd card, on android 2.3?

Think its the same as now, the problem with app2sd is say you have a 20mb App and move it to SD card say 16mb was moved to SD the other 4mb will still be on phone memory. Soon enough you'll still fill it quite quick, Using data2sd it puts everythink onto the SD card and you set how big you want your internal memory MAX size 2gb.
I have 76 apps and still over 1.2gb space to install apps read more into doing this you will also need a SD card class over 2. Am using a 16gb class 4 from play.com cost me £15 great buy Pny is the manufacture.
I love A2sd+ nothing else to use!

Not all apps installs do internal memory. Some end up at the SD by default and many of those that installs to the internal can be moved to the SD.
A tiny part will be left on the internal memory but this really should not be an issue for you. You can have tons of apps.
Use the phone as u want and see where u end up at
Also "the tiny part which will be left on the ROM" will have around 1MB
i'm looking on this matter now, so i'm waiting to root my phone and clear some unused application, to clear my ROM
so how can we move apps on sd card

yes there is the option to move them to sd card but it not apply to all apps
is there any software app who can move every thing to sd card then please tell
thank for your time sharing with this post..........
It's prossible to do a 'full' apps2sd if you have a rooted phone and a specially partitioned SD card, but i havent tried it on the arc so dunno if it will actually work.
I dont know why you really need to do this though. The root method i mention above was popular before 2.2 added built in apps2sd, particularly on older phones with small amounts of internal storage, but since android 2.2 there really isnt much point. I've got *tons* of apps installed on my arc, and still have more than half the space left.
There doesnt appear to be a massive thread describing how to get full apps2sd working for a rooted arc, the reason for this is because nobody really needs it. What are you trying to do that needs this?
be careful some apps wont work when their on your sd that why you can't move them.
for example don't move your launcher app ( when using one ) and don't move apps if you use a widget from the app ( or the app is a used widget )

I had the same issue as the OP..
I had install many apps, and then there is warning that my memory is low
I already installed app2sd and moved some apps to sd, but not all apps can be moved.
Is it possible to use an EXT partition on sd as an internal memory?
This trick is common in HD2 world (when using NANDROID).
I havent tried it with my Arc because it is unrooted.
If anyone has tried it, please share it with us
Thanks and cheers ...
I place all my apps too the internal storage. It's easy and there is enough space on the phone

It hasn't worked. Same Internal Memory .
Link2SD is better.
You will need a 2nd partition on your sd-card wich is preferably made with mini-tool.
My phone is loaded with games right now and i still have 70MB left.

DevWithCookies is right i installed Link2SD and set it up so the memory is managed automatically, and it works great. The only thing i have to point out is that the phone does get a bit laggy when is turn on until Link2SD gets root access, from then on you wouldn't even know that the apps on the SD card.

still previously I used link2sd, darktremor A2SD and my phone was full of apps only 50 MB left?!?! S2E is better only thing is tht it doesnt support stock or non CM roms
If you want your sd ext read as internal memory, maybe you should try like amarullz or cronmod
in my opinion Cronmod A2SD+ is the best for CM9/CM10.never give me errors or lose data.S2E gives to much errors.maybe Link2SD is good but never tried.

Link2SD work with Factory Rom?

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting an Arc S as they are priced well atm but worried about the 1gb space.
I read about Link 2 SD letting you install all apps to the memory card after rooting the phone and formatting the SD card in EXT format.
BUT does this work with the factory ICS rom or does it have to be one from here? also whats the max space the new EXT can be?
Thanks
Tom

Link2SD should work with any ROM
Yeah but i think it also need a kernel that supports ext, so i guess no stock (and yes unlock bootloader)
I dont know how much space you can set, but im currently using 2 GB and no problem so far.

What you are asking is impossible, you can´t make bigger the space of you´re phone, using the sd card.
Allthough you can try to use some applications to move the apps to you're SD, apps like Link2Sd(You need root) or more.
Also you can root you´re mobile and use titanium backup to delete apps you don´t need and you can´t remove, normally, but attention, if you remove some apps you´re phone can stop working.
I hope i helped!
If you have unlocked bootloader, you can flash Lupus GB kernel. It have 640MB data partition. And with the help of Link2SD (to move as much apps as you can to SD) it should be enough for some time
You could also partition SD card so apps2sd or link2sd can use it expand storage but is somehow harder to setup. You might check http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning

Are you rooted? If so get titanium backup pro (it's worth the $6 or $7). There's an option for moving dalvik-cache to /cache in there. Depending on phone, you can free up 80-100 MB of space by doing this. Here is the manual method, but it may not work on a lot of devices. Lack of space on these phones was my driving force for rooting it. I'm not certain about this (maybe someone who knows can chime it), but I believe making a separate small ext3 partition for your apps (something like 1-2GB) on your SD card helps out with speed of apps stored on there using link2sd.
