Nice finding, will try this, hope it works. Thanks

if you are on s-off device gingerbreak works like charm
(well it states that it has encountered an error it cannot specify, but it's rooted anyway.. permanently of course - just reboot)

not true, xtc clip needed though if you are on s-on (which you need anyways regarding the steps in the link)
if you have s-off however feel free to root with gingerbreak on 1.33.401.2
What's the point buying that if in couple of days/weeks we will get our unlock

Got S-off on my Wildfire S and just used Gingerbreak to root it
how are you guys getting S-Off on your Wildfire S's?
Really wanna Gingerbreak my phone but it won't let me at the moment so I am assuming I'm not S-Off....
Used the xtc clip. I got the beta version of the payg clip so just used that and unlocked the phone.
dammit....I don't have one of them.....
However I'd be willing to throw some money at someone if they could S-Off my Wildfire and flash Clockwork Mod Recovery..........*hints*
I have no credits left on my clip so I am unable to do it.
Can you not buy credits?
Yes but then I would have to charge people more than it costs to get the credits.
hi..i also have Xtc clip .i can S-OFF ur devise.. if ur from india/mumbai then mail me

how does it work bro, need to s-off my wildfire s...from india-chennai!
With Xtc clip.
I hope someone makes an xtc emulator like jaf.
XTC works through hardware not software so it's not possible.

s_off discussion thread.

To keep the development clean you can discuss here all related things concurring s off benefits and more.
Huh?
There is a huge thread that's never far from the top.
think he means that the thread is now development not development and discussion now.
Yes because that thread is cleaned a several times i do not want to risk its getting closed or the developer is getting sick of it and stops.
So please if you have something to say about soff that is not helping in anyway to get us nearer to a soff device please post out here if you want it of your back :good:
Just wondering, can we safely flash radios without S-OFF?

Yes unlike early version the radio is within the ROM. So if you flash a ROM with new base you are flashing with the new base.
What are we wanting from s-off then? If we can change the radio, remove carrier branding, change roms and sim-unlock, what else is there?

People want S-OFF so they can do stuff to their phones without having to use HTC's tool to void their warranties. I would assume that's one of the biggest ones.

The ability to flash boot.IMG from recovery is also a good perk. No need to get to a computer to flash a new kernel or ROM.

You can remove carrier branding without s-off by rooting and installing a custom rom but, for sim unlock, s-off is needed.

The LTEVO has s-off guys, go check that out, I think it would benefit one x. We technically don't need s-off tho, we can flash everything from recovery. No need to keep running to a computer

[Q] CID change at international HTC One X

Hi @ all,
are there any news about the possibility of changing the CID of the international HOX to a superCID or something equal?
The only things I could find pointed to the AT&T HOX or the HTC One S, but nothing about the international HOX
Without changing the CID we (the international users) have to wait month befor changing to JB ROMs
How can we change the CID?
Thx Nem.

no and it seems not in near future. But You can try newest leaks with trips kernel, if you want (with some bugs, but with working radio and so on)
Without S-Off there won't be a chance to change your cid if I remember right from my desire times.
Biggest difference here is the tegra chipset. That's the main issue here. But be assured, that if the deffs find a way to install jb on any device, you'll surely here about it!

Maybe "international" is the wrong word. Maybe "EU" is better.
Mine is a german HOX from T-Mobile, so my CID does not match.

Well it looks like it won't work properly without the updated hboot, so once the hboot is out for the particular CID and installed through OTA or RUU, any custom ROM based off official JB should work.

Downgrade is not possible, we can't downgrade the hboot without s-off. The only thing you can do is run a ICS rom. But the hboot will stay the same.

S-off is not available for the one x. No way to downgrade.
Don't buy the phone, you'll be disappointed. Save the money for some time and you'll be able to buy something better and more secure.
