Need help with Rooting - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So I used the Odin one touch root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835033&highlight=fh13+root
And it all seems to work fine, and I even got the PASS in the program, but when it rebooted, I got the Android System Recovery.
I hit reboot device in the Android System Recovery and it turned out that my device was not rooted, didn't even get the Super User app...thing.
So any help is appreciated with my situation. I did make sure I have ICS and FH13.

Did you use the rooted one? I think it's in post 2?

As far as I can tell by examining the install script, this is not a permanent install.
Everytime you reboot, it will go back to the original CWM and you will have to run the install again to get this recovery.

You are right. It works perfectly. Does backups and installs but won't stick. How can we make it stick sfhub? By packing it into a stock kernel?

Yes, pack it into a stock kernel and flash/install the resulting kernel.
Curious, have you tried flashing the modem?

Clark44, the dev of the ROM, said that he might update. It all depends on his time, he's a full time student.
You can flash the update from Freeza over the ROM, but you also need to flash "Revert to LF9 Universal Search" found in the OP to have the full google search. Read the thread and see what has been reported...

Is there any way to root galaxy s 3 for t mobile running 4.1.1 without a computer?

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
As of right now, the only way to get root is with the use of the computer as of yet.
Being that seems to work pretty well I doubt there will be development to a root method without a computer.
Hmm, thanks for your feedback

Doubt it. I think you still need pc

Mobile odin requires root. So it can't be used to gain root.
Chainfire release a rooting method. I haven't tried it but have heard it works well. You still need Odin on a pc for any root procedure that I'm aware of.

Unrooting

I'm trying to unroot my device back to stock since I'm pretty pleased with Touchwiz and want the next 4.1.2 update. I used triangle away to reset the flash counter and then used Odin to install a stock 4.1.1 firmware. However, when I look at device status it still says modified. Can I still get the OTA updates with this and is there any way to fix this and have it say normal?
What count does it say? Does it say count as "no"?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
If you still have SuperSU installed in the settings there's and option to do full unroot, that's how unrooted my last gs3 before I returned it. Anyone more experienced please feel free to correct me, as obviously I am still a noob.

It sure is my phone, I don't have a need for it to be anything but stock at the moment so that's how I want it to be.
I have also tried doing the process over again but using the 4.0.4 firmware. Still nothing.
EDIT: Flashed 4.1.1 over 4.0.4 did the trick. Not sure why.

I just think it's inconvenient for people who want to flash tars that are not rooted. I do think the app is absolutely amazing though.

MobileODIN wouldn't work if it wasn't Root. Functional, not stupid.
Back on topic, on other devices that I have had, you can flash a custom recovery via the stock recovery but naming the file 'update.zip' and placing it in the root of the ext_sd. Not sure about the T999 series, I haven't looked into or tried it.
What about cf autoroot by chain fire?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
CF auto root requires Odin on a pc.
I really do not think there.is a way to do this. Sorry man.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Suggestion: Find an internet cafe (if you can find one that allows downloading exes)
Pay for the time you think you might need.
Download Odin
Download the files you need
You know the rest!
Or you must have a friend who would be willing to give you a go.
It takes about 15 mins to do it if you know what you are doing.
I hope that helps, cheers!
Thanks guys. Mods can close this topic now.
