questions on the note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

2.where can i buy the note 2?i cant find an online recommend store

There is a big Preorder thread in general that answers those questions.
The size of the screen shouldn't affect speed - it should be the total resolution. It's the same resolution as the s3 but with a faster processor and jelly bead so it should be a fair bit faster

The note 2 is not the flagship because there is still a large percentge of people who thinks the screen of the note is too big for daily use and thus not considered as a mainstream phone. It is considered as a mixed of a tablet amd phone rather than a phone.
No set date for the release yet, but likely to be mid october

and its gonna cost like the note 1?530$ on amazon?because the price of the pre order is pretty expensive.
plus isnt it too big?(the note 1 that u have)can you put the note 1 in your pocket?is it comfortable in your pocket?the note 2 is bigger so i guess i would have only note 2 in one of my pockets

So far, the Note 2 release price has been roughly the same price as the note 1's release price.
That being: about $750 US (does not include VAT). perhaps, a year later, the Note 2 will be $530.
The note 1 fits in all my pockets, but I have some friends whose pockets it doesn't fit in.
If you aren't sure, make a mockup out of cardboard and see for yourself. That's what I did.

it will cost 750$?! i always thought that iphone is the most expensive phone...so are u saying that the price of the note 1 of 530$ is because the note 2?i thought that this is the full price of the device and after the note 2 will release the note 1 will be cheaper and the note 2 will cost 530$.
well i dont have this kind of money so i guess i will go for the sgs 3...

The GSIII can be just as fast if you overclock it and install JB. They both have pretty much run the same hardware.

my note two is best

I have a note 2, and my girlfriend has an S3. My note 2 has more apps installed and still performs better and faster than the S3. I've heard that the S4 is no good. Go for an S5, or wait until October for the note 4

Big problem!!

I have a big problem. I'm in the market for a new phone. I want the galaxy note 2, however on black friday Sam's club is having 96 cent deal on Galaxy s 3. I'm still leaning toward the note 2, however, How do I not pass up the 96 cent Galaxy S 3? I hate my life.
really?
you hate your life because .... you have the option of a cheap S3 or a note2?? wow talk about first world problems ...
Buy the galaxy s3, then sell it (before using it) add some money and buy the note 2
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
96 cents for a phone is crazy... id say go for that. its barely a buck... and yeah ure a moron at the same time .
There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting the galaxy S3. The Note 2 is basically a the Galaxy S3 on steroids. If your getting the S3 through a US carrier, your getting a toned down version of the Quad, International S3.
Heres some factors you might want to consider:
1) Financial: If you have an extra $200 to spend, then by all means spend it on a Note 2 (better build quality and performance). If money is tight, get the S3, which is still a beast and no slouch by any means. That extra $200 can be used to get a great case, pay the cell bill, etc
2) Size: Do you prefer a more "portable" devices such as the S3, which is easier to use for 1-Handed Operations and doesn't bulge out of your pants/jeans as much. If size is of no concern, then get the Note 2 which is not as 1-Handed friendly and takes up 1 whole side of your pocket in your jeans/pants.
3) Battery Life: The Note 2 will probably get you through the day with moderate to heavy use without dying on you. The S3 might need a charge before the day is over. The Note 2's battery is just a juggernaut.
Basically, it's like getting a helicopter (S3) or getting a apache helicopter (Note 2).

Go for the S3 and sell it toward a Note 2
Get the american S3 and you can run CM10 flawlessy on it as opposed to the international S3 and Gnote1 and 2 which will never run it well.
Everyone should have a Note II
First world problems?
Man I can say about monetary issues, but note 2 is a clear winner, if ur ok with size, its a beast the best thing to happen to smartphones after the hd2

note 2 Owners: does the galaxy s4 intrigue you enough to consider switching?

I think 5" screen would be perfect not to mention the other upgrades across the board. I love my note 2 to death but I do find it to be ever so slightly too large for my hands that 5" might be perfect.
Nope... not in the least
Development is going great.. theming is moving forward.. This phone has too much going on to just switch now.
Until I have a use for a 8/16 core phone... I'll keep making this one better and better
Mac
I'll think about it when it's a Note 3

I love every thing of NOTE 2
I will buy.....but not switch. ...more like, idk play?

Ditto....I've never been more content with a phone....EVER
Note III.
6.3 inch screen? And even more functional SPen?
No doubt the SIV will be impressive, but I don't think I could ever buy a smaller device. 5 inches is small to me now.
My piggy bank is waiting.
I agree about the screen size. I'm so used to this that going smaller just doesn't make sense to me anymore. The specs on this phone is already amazing. I still have my gs3 that just sits there. And the s4 is to be just slightly bigger in screen size then the s3. No thank you. Not for me anymore. Like somebody else said I'll wait for the note 3.

If the s4 doesn't have anything greater than a quad and no amazing software improvements like the note 2 gallery, all share, touch wiz enhancement (yes its not as bad as it used to be in fact I love it on the GN2) then ill hold outtill GN3
Besides I see the i9300 may have 4.2 update comming soon so im sure we will also

I bought my note 2 specifically for simple note taking with spen... Sold my galaxy s3 which was great for it originally from iPhones the galaxy s3 made me an android lover over ios despite 3 past early efforts of trying.
I would definitely be intrigued in a note 3 but I really don't see much to improve on right now.... Maybe external card slot usb hdmi etc without using micro usb adapter? Even then probably not. Great phone this note 2

Maybe note 3 not s4,but by the time my upgrade is due,. We'll be talking about note 4 .
I love this phone and just to think I almost didn't purchase it due to its size, now it just feels right.

Well in terms of size, I agree with you. I'm not adjusting to my Note II as well as I hoped - it's too big for me (one handed use and pocket). I'd prefer 130x70 mm phone with a 5" screen, perhaps with a pen, though I don't use it that much so far. But I'm not going to get an S4 - I'll wait for the next Nexus before considering a change. At least our phone (AT&T Note II) is rootable, but the fact that AOSP ROMs are handicapped by some hardware secrets (or so is my understanding) is too annoying to repeat a non-Nexus purchase. I hate the lack of SD card and battery too, but if I have to, I'll live with it next time (maybe in 2 years the internal storage will be large enough I won't care about the SD card).
Dara
My concern is that the GNII feels just big enough to make use of the spen, I don't feel like it would scale down to 5" size that well.
And like others I'm so 100% satisfied by this beast that I can't even imagine switching right now.

Here are the specs for the S4
Exynos 5 Octa 5410 chipset,
4.99 inches of Screen Size,
PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU,
Quad Core 1.8GHz Processor,
2GB RAM,PPI of 441
13MP Rear Camera, 2.1MP Front Facing Camera,NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi Fi ac/ b / g/ n,
Jellybean 4.2 Firmware out of the Box
Besides the smaller screen, the chipset and the 13mp camera
Not too different from the Note 2. And Im pretty sure Verizon will have thier bootloaders locked.

I'm actually holding off until the Note 3. If the GN3 is 6.3", I'll buy the S4. Otherwise, GN3 it is.
Size doesn't matter... It's how you use it! That said, I'm not at all tempted. I love my GN2.

No. I did that with my OG note and the s3. Ended up getting the note 2. Will wait for the note 3.
I love my note 2 and can not see myself with any other phone right now. I find it to be ahead of the curve and I can't think of what else they can do to improve it beside a bigger app selection "apps not games" but that's a developer issue. We need more devs to cater to us the note 2 users.

Getting an S IV would be a downgrade for most people who got the Note 2 for what it was intended to be used for. I haven't met many people who could go back to a smaller screen after owning a Note. For the people who are just spec whores and want the latest + greatest, I'm sure the S IV will be something they can't live without. But for those who want the large screen and all of the great things that come with it; the capabilities of the S Pen; and other features that won't be entirely eclipsed by the S IV... the Note 2 will continue to serve us well. I may be slightly jealous of a full-1080p HD screen and incremental hardware improvements, but other than that, I can easily wait for the Note 3 which of course will dance circles around the S IV. And what's up with the megapixels of these cameras getting insanely bigger and bigger? Just marketing hype tailored towards the ignorant. Most people equated more megapixels with better photo quality, having no idea it just means you'll be able to take insanely large pictures, for print media and displaying on large screens. Give me a great camera with DSLR-like quality. The extra megapixels can suck it!
Exynos + PowerVR = Drool
I'll be grabbing one if true

[Q] Would you trade your s4 for a note 2 +100 cash?

I have a s4 and a local is wanting to trade his note 2 for my s4 and hes adding 100 $
should I do it?
I know note 3 is around the corner. But what do you guys think?

Wouldnt be good enough for me. I find the S4 is so much snappier, has a much nicer display, and the size of the Note and Stylus doesn't justify the extra $100 as enough to make me trade. I also think it lacks IR and a few other things too.
Note2 lacks the features but I guess it all depends if you need the money or just want a bigger display. But I would keep my S4. But note3 might be worth it.

I did a similar transaction. I used the money from selling my Note 2 plus $100 to buy a S4. Almost 2 months later I have no regrets. The Note 2 is a great phone, but it was inconvenient for me to carry around. The N2 runs Android 4.1.2 (on T-Mobile anyway). The S4 screen is sharper. It's 0.5 inches smaller, but higher resolution (1080x1920 vs the N2's 720x1280). By the looks of your signature, you had a N2 before.

yes good sirs. I had the note 2 loved it.. dont mind going back. I suppose it will still be pretty future proof in the next few months. I trade and buy phones often so I guess its not a bad deal and not bad to gain 100 bucks while im at it.
Thanks for inputs everyone i made sure to hit your thanks buttons
YMMV but personally I think the Note 2 is too big to carry around as a phone. The S4 felt big coming from an iPhone but I grew to love the larger screen and I'm fine with the extra size. The Note 2 is also only 720p, so that coupled with an even larger screen = less dpi
So unless you need the extra money I wouldn't bother, especially with the Note 3 around the corner.

I am Glad not Buying Note 3

After watching some of the Video on YouTube of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I am Glad I did'nt sell my Note 2 there is not much of the difference compare to software wish and hardware wise little bit here n there and for some reason I like the shape of Note 2 compare to note 3. It would have been nice if they had made shape like Samsung Galaxy 4 but then again these are my personal thought for the Note 2. If anyone don't have any Note phone and coming from Note 1 to Note 3 there will be a huge huge difference and if they are thinking about buying then they should go for it & One thing I am a big fan of Samsung Personally.
Note 2 users dont "need" to upgrade. But new users of the Note series are going to get blown away. Im excited for them.
Even though there isn't a huge single upgrade for one particular spec of the note 3, it has almost every single component being tweaked to perfection. From gorilla glass 3 to a cpu that is much faster and less strain on the battery. Almost every little aspect of the phone is getting an upgrade, which in my opinion makes the phone with getting. Not to mention 1080p, even though the screen is nearly the same size. Also I can't believe no one is talking about how the loudspeaker is on the bottom bezel and not the back of the phone.

How many of you will be upgrading to the S5? How many hanging in with your note 3?

Still debating. I'm the kinda guy who likes the latest and greatest. Last year I upgraded from my note 2 to the s4, but I love my n3 so much I don't know if I will be doing the same this generation! Any thoughts?

I don't see the point in downgrading.

Exactly! S5 downgrade as far as I'm concerned. I have a strange feeling I'm going to be on Note devices for a long while. Already saving money for the N4.
Just get the Note 4 when it comes out. I thought the whole purpose was screen size?
The note series are the true flagship phones of Samsumg, dont think they knew the goldmine they were sitting on when they released it. Its an insult to get rid of a note 3 so quickly for a galaxy S device when we all know the next note is just a 4-5 months away from being revealed with far superior specs. Enjoy your note 3, galaxy s phones are 4 kehds.

No interest in the S5. The LG G Pro 2 looks pretty sweet, but I'll probably wait for the Note 4. I just hope they don't make it ridiculously big. The HTC One Max and Xperia Z Ultra are too big for my pockets.
If the leaked benchmark scores are correct, the S5 is actually slower then the Note 3. The S5 scored 35k and change where the Note 3 (at least mine on stock) scored 36,922. which isn't anything major. but who wants to buy a new phone thats slower then a phone that was released 4 months ago? I knwo the screen will be higher res, but you wont be able to see the difference anyway.
Plus, no Spen (which is 1 reason I got my Note 3) and a 1/2 inch smaller screen. I highly doubt I'll ever go smaller then the Note 3 at this point going forward. And who's to say it will come with an unlocked bootloader like the Note 3 has.
