the only other possibilities for the EVO 4G would be the EVO 3D or the EVO shift which has a slide out keyboard and stock sense 2.1 which is for landscape mode when the keyboard slides out
BTW, love your inverted Gapps for the SGS3, use them all the time. thanks for fixing the mail.apk!!!

Cyanogen mod 7...

Been searching around the forums and can't seem to find any info.just wondering if there is a CM7 build for our phone. I figure 7 would be more stable and complete than 9 at this point considering it is still in alpha. Even cyanogen mods main site doesn't really acknowledge our variant on the galaxy s2.
Seems all GB roms are on 2.3.4, are there any on 2.3.7? I know there isn't much difference. My old backflip had this version and I was curious how it would run on E4GT.
And yes I have used the search button.

I actually only use cm7 for the recovery. Which is probably why he is looking for it in the first place.

You don't need cm7 rom to get safe recovery. All you need is the stock el26 center kernel

Let me know how that runs if you do manage to install it, I'm not very anxious to run CM9, AOSP, AOKP, or anything ICS untill we have source and can be built from the ground up rather than borrow from here and there. That CM7 is a really small file, just seems like it should run great on the phone. Thanks.

I was really asking about kernels in general. Seems like every ROM wants you to go back to 26 before doing anything. Just was wondering why not 29? What issues would arise from using 29 as a base vs. 26?

Boost rom data error's

This discussion is only for user's who have had their E4GT flashed to Boost.
I have tried almost all the roms. Including the Samsung Boost leaks. When I'm on all the ICS roms I get a data error then update profile and it's gone for a while but comes back often. I have been running Calk's 3.0 GB and never have a data error.
Of course, that is why my daily is the aforementioned Calk 3.0.
Anyone have any similar experiences?

And how about 4G any to loose it when flash a sprint rom???
bumping this up because I have the same wondering mind as acrown.
Contract is up with sprint, would like to move to boost, but the Sprint S2 is cheaper than Boost's
Wondering if I could tinker with a Sprint version on a Boost ROM.
Guess no one has gotten that creative yet? Too soon?

I've used both paranoid Rom 2.2 (which I'm currently using) and the stock ff18 Rom and have never had the 3g stop or anything related to that and I'm on boost. I also wrote an updated guide on how to COMPLETELY flash that can be found somewhere in the older flash to boost thread in this section.

In order to have working 4g you need to clone or change your 4g mac address to a working active sprint address or a clear mac. Reference this thread for more info.

Your will not lose 4g once you have done this by just changing roms since this setting sticks.

Have tried both the Boost leaks and many of the Sprint roms. Currently I use Calk's gb 3.0 since it doesn't give me any data error's. Since I don't know anyone who has gotten a E4GT from Boost I have no way of knowing what if any the difference is. I created this thread because I wanted to know if Boost user's were getting data error's on ics. Still haven't gotten any feedback on that.

More specifically since both replies relate.... Boost has this with 4G now...I mean same network essentially right? I would THINK in my tiny little mind that the need for a full BOOST flash plus additional 4G mac tinkering may not be completely necessary outside changing some minor things? ...I guess that's more where I was headed with that question, but it will end up rooted and flashed anyway...
Rigel, I'll move my wandering mind to a new thread if you prefer.

Lol. Both leaked Boost roms are full Boost roms. I do know that unlike hacked Sprint phones flashed to Boost the 4g option will start at 55 and shrink from there.

There are many options for the at&t branded s3's. Just check out the Android development and original android development forums. Roms range from touchwiz based to more custom source code based. Know what you're doing before you flash and make sure to only flash a rom for your device (not i9300, etc)

Shouldn't have too many issues as you would just need have the straight talk APN to use.
Really take your pick and look around and see what you like
Thanks for the input. I'm familiar with flashing roms. I've been using a rooted inspire 4g for 4 years now. The touch wiz. Is all new to me though because I love sense Roms.
The reason I asked about two roms is because I saw a mod in the forums with an aroma installer that would make quick work of themeing my gf's phone all pink.
She gets a kick out of me rendering my phone useless after a vigourus bout of themeing but I don't think she would find it that funny if it was her phone out of cammition while I restored a back up

If it were to get KK, it would be in an unofficial capacity and would not be fully-functional, since neither WiMax or the FFC would have working drivers.

I would dare say the EVO is legendary in its own right. It was the first 4G phone on Sprint, and was pretty revolutionary for its time and the first EVO in a line of good handsets to carry that name. The phone had a ton of development for it, and it still has support to this day. The biggest problem is the lack of driver support for both WiMax and the FFC, as I've already mentioned.

I am purchasing a new LCD and digitizer for my evo 4G (supersonic) since the screen got destroyed right before I bought my Evo 4G LTE (jewel). I wanted to see if there were any plans for a kitkat ROM for the evo 4G because I recently installed android 4.4.2 on my roomate's kindle fire and it runs amazing! I heard Google was trying to make kitkat run better on older devices. I think 4.4.2 could be great for the Evo 4G. I have high hopes that when I fix this phone someday there might be a 4.4.2 ROM available. I miss this device and the community that came along with it. Can't wait to get back into playing with this device again haha.

Biggest thing holding back kk is lack of a recovery that can properly flash it. I know of one guy who has already built kk but can't get recovery working.

I am STILL rocking a Evo 4g but running 4.1.2 Rom (for the Google NOW experience) and love it. Just got a second one and playing around with some Sense Roms that will have everything working. Some (Jellybread 1.4 for example) are very well designed with a Holo look and feel.
I don't see why it should be too hard to 'skin' a Sense theme to bring you Kit Kat goodness!!!

Is there any new updates on the CM 11 kitkat Rom unofficial? I've been itching to try this out and see the improvement on the OG EVO. I really want to see if kitkat can really run smooth on a low spec device. I've had a few JB ROMs that ran decently smooth.. with over clock at least.
I was trying to build a recovery with SELinux enabled for this, but it was too large. I read that I could probably change the compression to make the kernel smaller, but never got around to doing it, as my newer devices took precedence. I don't even remember where I left off with it, to be honest .

Ok I know this is very confusing, but you're in the wrong forum. This forum is for the Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G. You have the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch.
You want to ask/research your question in the Samsung Epic 4G Touch forum.
But to answer your question directly, you'll most likely want to install CyanogenMod. You can access that link by going to CyanogenMod.org -> Wiki -> Devices -> d710
You should be able to find any help in the Samsung Epic 4G Touch forum of XDA Developers.
If you're considering switching providers then I would suggest seriously considering moving to Ting a post-paid-per-usage Sprint MVNO. PM if you want a $25 Ting referral credit or have any further questions.
Wow lol this is the second forum I'm being told is the wrong one lol, HTC is much more simpler lol, but thanks for the explanation bro ill check it out
