Is there a working call recording app for the gnex? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Looked in the play store but came up with apps that don't work well with our phone. Does anyone know of a working call recording app?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
works for me, i am using 4.1.1, must root your phone first.

K...I'll try it, thanks

If you use Google voice, press 4 while in call.

That's cool. But I think it only works for inbound calls. If you place the call, I think that option gets disabled.

Skype and Samsung Galaxy S2

I just finished a video call from Colorado to Belarus, talking with a friend there. It worked great, a little lag once in awhile, but I think that was on her end, they have poor internet service, my Tmobile has faster download speeds. I thought if any one was looking for a working video call from your phone to someone that does not have a awesome phone like us, this works, Yahoo sucks, because front camera does not work with it.

Wow, that's awesome! Glad to hear it!
Samsung hercules! !
How exactly do you do video in skype, I have yet to see an option for it, on either the SGS2 or my Tablet that is supposedly supported.
You need to goto settings in Skype and activate video calling. It will say you device is not optimized yet for Skype, but for me it works fine.

Sweet, I saw it this time, but I only have one friend on and he's at work.
I did an hour long Skype video chat with a friend in Mongolia yesterday with my sgs2. It was over wifi and worked very well. The call dropped once but I think it was her crappy mongolian internet at fault.
Since i didnt already own a webcam I can add one more thing to the list of excuses for the wife of why it was OK to spend almost $300 on this beast of a phone

Can you describe the problem more clearly? Was the video icon not there? Did the video calls fail to connect? Did the video only work on one side?
Did you try rebooting or restarting Skype?

The video icon was there. If I choose video call option, it connects bu voice call only, the video won't even start.
Same if someone tries to call me.

I ran into that problem, but a restart of Skype or a reboot of the phone fixed it.

Yes, they do have a free version in the market that allows over wifi only. The paid version allows you to use over 3g/4g. I haven't tried it over 3g/4g yet but wifi works great.
I got it free on Amazon a few moons ago. The early versions were pretty meh, but the last updates work great over 3/4G and WIFI.
Perfect app.

Free calling with own number?

Hello, I am just wondering if there's a way to make free calls with your given number. I have looked in the app store but they all require another number or the other party having the same app.

Receiving calls with Google voice and groove ip

Anyone know of a way to receive calls on the n7 2 with Google voice and groove ip? I've followed the directions on both apps and I'm still not able to receive calls. Thanks

No I got out working finally. Had to make sure groove ip stayed running.

Glad to hear you got it to ring through. Yes it has to be running for this. There are also several settings within your google voice account for forwarding and such.
Has anyone used a Bluetooth head set with your GrooveIP yet? I had a problem of the app sending the audio and mic to my bluetooth head set even after it was paired with the N7 and I had tapped the bluetooth toggle on the GrooveIP dial pad screen.
Anyone able to make or receive calls using Mighty Text and a bluetooth headset? Every time I place a call, my phone dials and the call is placed from my phone instead of my tablets? I thought Mighty Text allowed calls to an from your tablet, no?

I used to use groove IP but I use talkatone now and it is a better app in my opinion. Works better too.

Ok I figured out the problem with a simple setting toggle.
In the settings > Troubleshooting> make sure you uncheck "WiFi Tablet"..it is for wifi tablets without voice processing ability.
I am using a Plantronics Discovery 975 and it works pretty well as I have it also paired with my dumb phone and going back and forth between them is very easy. But I will add, I have perfect sound quality using a wired set of earphones and no one can tell that it is a VOIP. I have the Basic Echo Canceler on.
I have not yet figured out if a headset with a mic is fully used where the mic on the N7 gets turned off and the inline one on the headphones is used. I know on the old N7 this did not work, but not sure the N7 2013 is any different. Anyone have experience there?

Now I'm back to a great working app! I was tempted to try Tapatalk.....but some said they had better luck with GrooveIP. I like the interface of the GrooveIP better though. These 2 apps are probably close in performance.

Have you tried the newest update by fongo? Works fine for me. You need to un-check low bandwidth codec

No, it initiates the call from your phone, that's all.

Visual voicemail

Howdy,
I just switched to T-Mobile today with a new G3 and ported over from Verizon.
I am having a problem getting the visual voicemail to work. when I try to use it, I get a unable to communicate with server error. This was happening on my wife's LG G3 too, I setup my regular voicemail just fine.
Anyone else having this problem? Or do you think it could be something to do with the porting process (everything seems to have ported fine)
Or any other suggestions (besides resetting my phone, I will try that last, but would like to not have to set up everything again)
Thanks!
Use Google voice way better

How are you using google voice? On my handset, I have it all set up as I should, but the "Voicemail Provider" option within call settings is greyed out, I cannot change that to google voice.

Keyword there is "showing."
It's Google Voice. Call your phone from a different phone to confirm and you should hear your Google Voice greeting.

You can also call T-Mobile and have them do the following:
--Disable Voicemail on your line
--Setup the forwarding number to be your Google Voice number
You can also setup the forwarding yourself the be the Google Voice number. After doing this, even if I don't install GV after a flash, the calls still go to GV voicemail and whatnot.
