[Q] Third party charger in a brand new HTC One X box? Is that normal? - HTC One X

Title says it all.
I've purchased the device about a week ago and I noticed it just now(after searching the web about the scrolling issue, which apparently caused by using a 3rd party charger).
Did someone else encounter this? Is that normal? If not, What should I do?

No it isn't. May of been imported from China (Hong Kong) for cheap, and sold to you and many others. Just google 'eCell', the fraudulent company selling on Ebay. Anyway, as they use different plugs they either give you no charge or one like you have. Any Chinese writing anywhere?

Okay I did some more Google research apparently a lot of retailers here(Israel) put a samsung charger for some reason.

All over the box and on some of the stuff inside. I didn't think it's strange because HTC is a Chinese company after all.

If it's all over the box, i think you've been had. Call HTC customer services, give them the imei and they'll tell you where it's from. Alternatively check your cid. Is it htc__622? Get cid checker from the store.
http://play.google.com/store/search?q=pname:org.tritonsoft.cidgetter
Install and check what ro.cid is.

@Op,
In the xda hox general section everything is possible.

It's a Taiwanese company, so the Chinese writing didn't come off as weird to me.
Anyway switching the HOX chargers seems like a common practice here. The only place that sells original HTC chargers is the official importer. I think I'll just buy it from them.

So in your country it's normal, 'your own question answered'. Well done!

Hong Kong has "British socket" and electronics are not much if any cheaper here. They're cheap in Shenzhen.

If you want to purchase on ebay, I recommend rose528400, as that is where I purchased my phone from. As far as I know, the phone is near flawless. Now that I checked it, the international version has become surprisingly cheap. Not trying to advertise here, thanks.

That is wrong. The touch screen bug is caused by a dirty power connection. My house power connection would work fine and the touch screen works very well but at my work (which is a very old building) I have tons of touch screen bugs because of the dirty power connection.

afaik its not the charger that filters, should be the phone (i base this on the fact my dhd doesn't have problems with both htc chargers), whereas the hox has problems with both .
after repair (and update to 2.17), the problem went away, but since i flashed viperx and faux kernel, the bloody problem came back! it hardly does it with my original charger, but really bad with the dhd charger (both original htc ones)

[Q] Expansys Handset from Mexico?

Hello all. I don't post very often, if at all, but I had a question and was wondering if those who received their handset recently could answer. I ordered a Galaxy Nexus from Expansys (USA Store), and I received it today. I opened it up and was expecting the handset box to have that security sticker that I've seen other unboxings on YouTube to have. It didn't. I was also surprised that I have Spanish / Mexican writing in addition to English on the outside of my box. I opened my box and instead of the UK plug, I was given a Mexican (?) plug. I'm not sure, the plug said "ME" on the side. I also received warranty books in English and Spanish. Sorry, I'm not sure how to speak Spanish or Mexican so I may be mixing it up. I tried searching these forums, but I haven't seen a thread on this yet.
So, I know there are some people that received their handsets today from Expansys, and I was wondering if they received the same thing?
Sorry, if this has been covered before, but I'm just curious. Thanks.
I was about to make a post about the same thing.
My Nexus also came without a security seal, US charger, and English/Spanish manuals. Also, on the inside of my phone it does not say Made in Korea. Instead it says Korean Product.
But I did not order from Expansys.
Thanks for your response, aeox. I'm thankful I wasn't the only one that received a handset from someplace else. I'm hoping that everything else internally is the same, i.e. same sourced parts. I have flashbacks to when I was on Blackberry and people compared country of manufacture to determine problems. Lol.
I'm naive about electricity also. Would someone be able to tell me if it's safe to use the "ME" plug in US sockets? Could I use my SGSII plug to charge the Nexus? Just want to be sure and not fry my phone or my house.
Thanks again, and sorry for all the questions.
I'm kind of worried too. Since none of the labels on the box or phone itself have all "regular" labels that is seen in every video out there. Especially the sticker inside the back of the phone.
Korean Product vs. Made in Korea by Samsung.
Does any one else have different accessories or packaging?

Can't say that I have dealt with this... but it might be safest to stick to USB charges until you find your answer.
Darthbull: Is the sticker inside your phone the same as mine?
I have said this since last week, no one really noticed/reply...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19880721&postcount=389
I order from Negri, seems like it came from spain or something...
Any chance of some pictures guys?
That thread got kind of long full of posts from all over the place. I probably missed it.
I'll try to post some pictures tonight when I get home.
aeox: Yeah, mine says "PRODUCTO COREANO / KOREAN PRODUCT"
Regarding doubts of some batches are made in Korea or not; they are all made in Korea. Even though the phone says "Producto Coreano/Product of Korea", the bottom side of the white box has a lable that says "Phone: Made in Korea, Imported Accessories individually marked" So theres no doubt the phone is manufactured in Korea and the accessories in China as labled.
I just got mine FRESH. I did not purchase it at an online retailer like negri or expansis but from a wholesale company that I have connections with. They seem to have the same batch as many of you mentioned; no security stickers and spanish and english on packaging and documentation. I saw the entire lot that they have and its the same thing. Theyre a reputable company, they wouldnt mickymouse with such a high end device, as anyone will certainly expect folks like us will put anything and everything about it under a microscope.
Sounds a little bit more reassuring. But I personally still would rather have a made in Korea by Samsung sticker with the FCC logo instead of the simple cheap looking one I have.

I completely understand but, know that this isnt a standard US/CA handset where you get a nice FCC seal etc. These phones were meant for a different region with different standards. Also, my hypothesis is that we dont get a samsung seal of quality because this isnt a fully Samsung developed developed device. This is a joint effort lead by Google and Samsung happens to be the lead manufacturer. If it was a pure Samsung device, i trust samsung would have put in their own in-house Exynos SoC instead of Texas Instrument OMAP right?
I dont know what the standards for Mexico mobile devices are either (or if these handsets were even meant for mexico in the first place), but DAMN this phone looks sexy as fcuk. I love it. And you should too, dont let a little packaging issue take away the fact that you have the next badass Google Nexus device.

[Q] HTC ONE X Taiwan VS China Manufactured

same as that.
Same here Taiwan.. zero build defects, non to mild software issues (not related to the manufacturing)
mine is from Taiwan as well, it is functioning just fine. I have had no problems yet, and I dont expect to have anything hardware related. Just software if anything.
I ordered 2 white One X's. Both are made in Taiwan. One got resizing screen issue and was sending back for replacement. Another one isn't has any issues(yet).

So it's clear that build quality of taiwan product is better. Guys please keep this in mind before buying. I am a bit dissapointed by HTC regarding the issues that are faced in such high end devices
i agree with you guys.
my experienced with my previous devices, htc hd2 (2 devices, taiwan and china), desire s (china), sensation (taiwan):
on hd2 the taiwan one works great but has dull screen colors, altough the china one has great screen colors, but distorted speaker on max volume, and already broke in less than a year (restarted in loop).
desire s, has a build quality defect, like backlight bleeding and there is a space between screen glass and the body. but works fine.
sensation, no problem at all.

Chinese model here minor issues with screen flickering and my wifi not connecting properly to my router at 40mhz (works fine on other routers and at 20mhz on my router).
China manufactured, everything's perfect apart from 1 virtually unnoticeable dead pixel.
China's manufactured here, 100% perfect, no build problems or anything. If anything, I think it's just the software.

help me my friends

I'm not new to HTC i owned my diamond for many years now but i wanted to got my new HTC ONE X
plz help me coz all the web sites sells the china version and i only trust the Taiwan version of any HTC
can any one tell me about a site that sells the Taiwanese one x?
i need a web site that somebody got his Taiwanese one x from it
HTC...... quietly brilliant
I don't think there's anywhere that will allow you to pick your phone by serial number. Get the phone and if anything is wrong with it return it for a replacement. I'd recommend Amazon as they've the best return service.
By the way, the China version seems to have less problems from what I can gather on the forums.
I had the diamond, the early days of sense, glad it has improved.

You can say the same thing about the Taiwanese models as well. It's a crapshoot as to whether or not you get a good phone from either country. We have no idea if Chinese or Taiwanese models are better because we're not privvy to HTC's returns records.
If you want one, order it from a reputable company and if it's defective, return it. It's as simple as that.

My phone is an SH23 model (Chinese) and it's been perfect so far. Hopefully yours is too.
Mine is also SH23 and it's perfect.

All good since launch day!
My Desire HD was made in Taiwan and I too wanted a taiwanese HOX. Luckily the first phone I picked up in the store (one of the reasons I didn't buy it online was to check the sn before buying) was HT24 and it's flawless. I can totally understand why the OP wants a TW phone.

Amazon UK (temporarily) stop selling White One X

Amazon UK have put a stop-sell on the white One X apparently due to quality concerns. A colleague was told he couldn't have his faulty One X replaced and they could only offer a refund at this time. He called up to ask why, and they said there had been "quality concerns".
If you go to the Amazon UK page you will see:-
Item Under Review
This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described.
We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may still find this product available from other sellers on this page.

Strangely they are still selling the grey one.
good going HTC...
Probably related to the white back not being quite as impervious as they thought. One of the reasons I got the grey one... nothing stays clean in the same house as my 1 year old.
They might not listen to us lot on xda but I bet they'll take notice when a company as large as Amazon expresses concerns and stops selling the product.

It doesn't look like Amazon are selling the grey one either. If you select grey it shows the seller as webtrader instead of directly from Amazon.
Or is this normal? I've noticed that the seller seems to change every day anyway. Sometimes direct from Amazon, other times not. Is that when they run out of stock or something?

Not sure why its not displaying for you but I just double checked and I can definitely still order a grey one from Amazon UK directly from them (not a seller). I would not be at all surprised if the grey ones are pulled as well shortly. I don't think the issue is to do with anything specific about the white casing.

I received a replacement grey from Amazon today (shipped yesterday) so they must still have some. Batch number HT241W - hopefully a good one! Not had time to test it yet.

Currently 16 sellers of the grey model on Amazon - including Amazon. I think they only direct a portion of the search results to their own product, otherwise the other retailers would never get a look in. Look at the "More Buying Choices" column on the right hand side.
I'm betting that Amazon have returned their stock of the white one, which is why they can't offer returns. I got one from them last Friday, HT23Z (and thus far problem free) so I suspect all their stock was HT23. When they start selling the white one again I reckon they'll have a later batch.
I am an Amazon prime customer so I think it is prioritising the one sold by Amazon directly for me because of the included next day service on it. Sometimes it favours the "cheapest" vendor, which is 15 pounds lower than Amazon directly.....so maybe thats why it showed that one in this case.

got my phone originally though the orange store SA, but as that's closed up, officially there is no support locally for this phone,
makes trying to find batteries locally a bit of a chore.
and why im asking if there is something else that might also work, like a generic, or compatible?
we do have a representative of STK (who brought out wileyfox) locally, but not sure if they might be able to help?
but first prize, would be a samsung or other battery that would fit perfectly.

Finding batteries anywhere in the world - even in their home UK market - is like searching for hens teeth; Wileyfox lost their way very shortly after their debut a couple of years ago (and long before their collapse and buy-out by STK). Just Google Kazam too.
WF have tried to kill-off the Swift first and foremost amongst their 1st gen range - they hate this phone especially for some reason. They promised a spare battery for general sale but an ongoing supply just never materialised. Indeed a couple of batches at most were brought to market but snapped up very quickly - and that was that. Since then WF maintain radio silence on this subject as is attested to on their Facebook page.
There are some available on eBay or aliexpress, frequently under the part numbers in the previous post. This is because the Swift is a rebadge of an Android One phone hailing from the far east.
