nothing against rooting your phone - the best thing you could do in fact - but to let it become responsive again: did you try an old fashioned factory reset? I don't remember exactly how that worked with a stock ROM but it should be somewhere in the forums. Even better someone who recalls that procedure should tell (if you're missing a user guide) - ah wait, perhaps this one might be of some help How to hard reset the HTC Wildfire - Know Your Cell
--- EDIT --- but don't miss the essential stuff: all your personal data will be deleted (you should at least backup your whole sdcard)

already factory reset i can access reccovery and hboot .. after factory reset still same issue..

do you have lots of apps on SD? Did you try to boot without sdcard?

All resources that you may need are here:

Boot Loops, forever.

So, I don't really post on forums because I'm pretty tech-savvy, but I have a big problem that I can't fix, and I can usually fix everything (thanks to you guys!)
This morning, my incredible acted up as I was checking an e-mail and it froze, so I decided to battery pull because restarting my phone didn't work. (Note, my incredible has been running VERY solidly on a CM7.1 nightly). As I tried to boot up the phone again, it would stay on the white HTC Incredible screen. When I rebooted into recovery thru HBOOT, i realized that there was an error mounting something, like recovery_log, or something like that (i didn't mind this because I thought I knew what I was doing), but I tried restoring my old nandroid backup that was working well, but it didn't work. It said it couldn't format /data or something... It ended up staying on the white HTC incredible screen. So, I wiped data/cache like 10 times, and dalvik cache as well and tried re-flashing a clean install of cm7.1 stable, but didn't work again - led me straight to the white Incredible screen. So, installing a fresh rom AND restoring a solid backup didn't work... so...
I found the RUU 2.3 stock rom on the development forums, and tried to install that like I do with the radios (PB31IMG.zip) through HBOOT, but no cigar. It did go PASSED the white screen, but boot loops at the Droid eye.
So, I thought I'd find a different stock img, and found the 2.2 official OTA .zip and installed it the same way, but got the exact same result (boot loops, forever).
Any suggestions? I can't think of anything else.... I feel like my phone is bricked, but I didn't do anything to make that happen.
I feel like something happened that made me not able to format the /data, and stuff. I even formatted my SDcard in case it was the problem.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Load the RUU onto a different fat32 sd card and see if you are able to boot.

i'll try that and give an update. thanks for the reply!
*update* no luck. same thing happens. i tried on three different sdcards formatted fat32...
Can you factory reset and flash a ROM from a different sd than the one you were using? Description sounds like bad sd, and AOSP roms interact with the sd on boot. If original (CM 7) sd is toast, it'll never boot, hence different sd card and prefably RUU
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I had this happen once where no matter what rom i flashed all i got was bootloops. I had to get the stock froyo ruu.exe that you run from your pc and install it that way. Then once installed boot up and go to settings/sd & phone storage and do a factory reset from there. This factory reset is a true reset as it wipes out vzw programing also. After reset folow on screen steps to reactivate your phone, you can skip the rest of the setup. Once thats done your good to go just flash clockwork or amon ra recovery and then flash what ever rom you want. No guarantees but it worked for me.
NOTE: This assumes you are s-off, if your not after flashing the ruu you will have to use unrevoked to regain root and s-off again.
You can also try wiping /system and /boot.
*token post to get my post count high enough to ask for help in the hacking section, dumb rule btw. FAIL*
Mine is now stuck in a continuous boot as well. It's not rooted and have no idea how to fix it.
I see instructions in this thread but they mean nothing to someone who doesn't know what the abbreviations stand for or how to go about the commands required.

if you are non root. you will need to download the RUU.exe for 2.2 and install if from you pc.
http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-...mplest-instructions-ever-windows-xp-only.html
follow that and your phone will be back to the day you got it out of the box.
All the recommendations prior to Synisterwolf's post require root.
Some of the "abbreviations" are detailed in the Droid Incredible Development section. If you head over there you can read up on a beginners guide to root terms and helpful links in one of the top four threads namely:
If You're New to Modding/Rooting, Read This First! (Updated 08/05/10)
I will say though:
CM7.1 = CyanogenMod 7.1 (this is a rom)
OTA = Over The Air
2.2 = Froyo (Android software version 2.2)
RUU = basically refers to a file that people use to revert back to the Droid Incredible's pre-root status. Although there are additional steps as well.

Does it give any specific error code when it says it can't connect to the phone?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to have HTC sync installed on your pc to use an ruu.exe? Do you have that installed?

I had this issue the first time i rooted my phone and attempted to put on a ROM, and i resolved it when i found this post to get back to stock. I also used this to fix a problem where my phone had a black screen with a line through it on booting to recovery or attempting to do a nandroid back up:
droidforums.net/forum/droid-incredible-hacks/95406-how-correctly-unroot-incredible.html
All i did was basically use the PB31IMG Method without turning s=on, ( i had stock radio and still have 7.28 )
1) download that PB31IMG.zip and drop it on the root of your sd card ( it has to be named ( PB31IMG.zip ) so make use you have file extensions showing on your PC.
2) boot to hboot and and let see the file and install it
3) used unrevoked ( remove sd card ) to aquire root again.
idk if this helps, but this seems to get me out of the few weird situations i had

<SOLVED> Help!!!! data connection kills my wildfire!!!

Hello all guys!
Thank you a lot for the work that are you doing, sharing to all of us how we can make our phones free...
Recently i found xda-forums and because i own a wildfire, i wanted to make it better.
I started reading and i learned how to make things better... S-off my phone, rooted, completly wipe internal memory and flash a new rom. All good.... i had GPS problems first time, but i managed to fix it... anyway... Now i have a REAL PROBLEM...
A few days ago i flashed CyanogenMod7 nightly #232, after a full wipe. All good, but now i can't use it because data connection kills it... it doesn't matter what i do, but when i try to use browser/e-mail/market or any app that uses internet the same thing happens: reboot or power down.
I restored my stock froyo nandroid wich i had, same thing... Anybody knows a way to fix it??? please help me out, tethering phone's data connection was my getaway, but now it reboots my phone...
Here are my phone specs:
Phone: HTC Buzz Wildfire
S.OFF:Revolutionary
Hboot:[6.01.1002]
Recovery: [v.5.0.2.0] ClockworkMod Recovery
ROM: [2.3.7] CyanogenMod7-NIGHTLY-buzz #232
Kernel:[2.6.35.14]-nFinity [email protected] #1
Radio: [13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10]
OC: SmartAssV2 min:[264]Mhz max:[691]Mhz
Jit=yes
VM Heap size: 32m
Help!
Edit: flashed the previous CM7 kernel (2.6.32) -> nothing happens
reflashed radio, still nothing... flashed 3.35.19.25 radio... still nothing...
Edit 2: now i see that if i connect phone to power socket, stays awake... i can use internet only with the phone. tethering still reboots my phone...
Final edit: Problem solved, i sent the phone to the sellers and after a failed attempt (where they thought that a sw update and a screen protector can make me happy), they figured out that all the phone needed is a new battery... they sent me the new one, and now all works just fine... i'm happy again, now i'm searching new tweaks for the BuzzFire... thx all who tried to help me out , special thx to 3xeno
Anyone can help? Desperate user here, guys!!! I'll pray for you... i just search for an answer but i cannot find a thread with the same issue or something close to it... Pleaseee!!!

Does it reboot when you just turn the dataconnection on? and are you using v6turbocharger or the 3gturbocharger scripts?
Some options:
1. Reflash radio file to your phone
2. Get a official release of cyanogenmod
3. Make sure you wipe data/cache/dalvik before you flash the rom
Hope this helped, if it did please press the thanks button!

I have 3 zips of CyanogenMod7 nightly (#202 #220 #232)... i allways perform a full wipe before i flash the rom... i reflashed all 3 radios from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 ... same result...phone get killed or rebooted...
Now after a full wipe i have restored only Boot.img and System.img from my original Froyo nandroid backup, so basically i belive that could be a fresh install of the original Sense Froyo... the kernel is the original Htc kernel... but i still have the same problem... phone get killed after enabling data connection... i don't know why phone acts like this... All this "phone dies" story started suddenly... one day i woke up and the phone started acting like this... i think it hates me
Partitioning card helps?? i'l give it a shot... i'll tell you if it works... thx in advance...
wiped dalvik cache and cache... patition - 128 mb ext - 32 swap... nothing... same prob...(((((
Partitioning an SDCard can prevent freeze ups / network issues? That is a new one!
On topic, try flashing an RUU and check for the issue when on the stock ROM. I can't find the post, but it worked for someone else who was facing similar issues,

since i am a noob... i try all the suggestions... even for me sounded strange... anyway... i choose the RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3. 35.15.31_release_130814_signed.exe, since i don't know what i had in my phone when i bought it, and i don't want to use a Froyo RUU because i'm afraid i won't be able to S-OFF and root my phone again... but another question... If i have HBoot:6.01.1002, the RUU is able to downgrade the HBoot, or i have to make it myself?... thx @3xeno... in advance... i hope this will solve my phone disease...
Edit: When i bought it, the phone had Sense 2.1 Eclair, but i made the 2.2.1 in-phone software update (dhaaaa)... i'm happy i managed to s-off it after that... and i didn't used AlpharevX (i had no idea at that time), i used "revolutionary-0.4pre4"...
You can use a Froyo RUU (WWE 2.22.405.1). The HBoot will not be touched. (You will lose Clockworkmod Recovery though, but, since you know how to use Fastboot, it shouldn't be an issue at all I am assuming). Also, your device, except the SDCard, will be formatted, so make sure you have your important stuff backed up.

I learned this things thx 2 u... i have backups... fastboot... now i have to download the RUU... i'll tell you if it works in a couple of days... i have a poor bandwidth ( +>- 5KBps)... i'll pray to all the Gods i know (i'm christian but doesn't matter, maybe my God doesn't now a shee about ANDROID) ... i'll make you know if it worked, if not, i'll apply the RUU, downgrade Hboot, and i will go in the shop where i bought the phone and ... i'll make it pieces in front of the sellers... or request for warranty... am i correct?
Yes, do that, definitely if the RUU method doesn't work as well.
Anyway, it doesn't matter my data... if the phone doesn't work as it should, i don't think data is so important... data is a thing that can be refound... a phone with unknown issue.. is a really phookin' problem... the incredible thing is the fact that the phone works quite well without data connection... rarely app FC's, smooth UI... i'm amazed... did'n tried wifi... i will... maybe will work...

sorry for stressing you with questions... assuming that i may have some little knowledge (i think) about android and wildfire... let's say that RUU does his job... but what really does an RUU?? Rom update utility... removes clockworkmod+ performs a fresh install of an original HTC rom+ sometimes upgrades or downgrades HBOOT+S-on's the phone...
this stuff we can do it via Fastboot and adb... I have my original rom... i backed it up when i thought that AOSP ROM is something that definetly phone needs ( well i can say that: yes... it needs... <3 CM7NB)
so... if i "advanced" restore my Sense nandroid (only boot+system) after a full and complete wipe( i performed the wipe via clockworkmod-->mounts and storage--> all "format" options+ yes + wipe Dalvik cache + reboot in HBOOT -clear storage= phone boots and reboots in HBOOT... cuz there's no boot or operating system)... it means i have the original stock froyo... without configurations and stuff like that... am i correct?
Yes you can do that, but with an RUU, you are practically guaranteed a clean install. It's a good way to point out where exactly an issue potentially lies.

That's the point... ( linked to my phone issue)... if it's not the kernel or the radio or the custom recovery... remains the hboot... in your opinion can this be the problem?? sorry if i'm stressing you again...let's make this thread useful and discuss all the aspects... for the future, in case that this can be useful for all the community of XDA... maybe is pointless... but i wanna learn, and this is a verry good subject to discuss(i think)
While i wait that RUU to download (14% of 130+MB)
I think that since my nandroid is clean...(btw... i made a factory reset before making the Stock Froyo nandroid) and i know that data connection worked before and after... it just doesn't make sense for me why the RUU can fix things...
Sorry, but I am not so technically proficient as to go in depth and explain stuff, because, I myself don't know about it. I suggested something that has been known to work for others, and, it stays just that - a suggestion. It's totally upto you what you wish to do, what you wish to experiment etc. Its your device and your wish.
Hopefully, someone with in-depth knowledge of how stuff works can explain these to you.

Thx for your time and advices man!!! God Bless you!!
RUU installed, but issue not resolved
Bad news... looks that the RUU (2.22.405.1) did remove the custom recovery, flashed new radio and flashed the stock Froyo rom... didn't touch the hboot... but my phone is not cured... still dies few seconds after i enable data... i'll try to downgrade the Hboot to 1.01.0001 S-ON to see if the problem is resolved, if not, i think it may be a hardware problem and i hope i can send it for a warranty intervention... God!!! Why are you doing this to me?!!
I had it wrong doesn't matter.

S-ON can't flash to my Desire S

Hi I'm new to this, and yes maybe I shouldn't have started messing in the first place, but that's just me I can't help myself.
I was fed up with bloatware and Google so I decided to Root my Desire S using the super one click method.I have Hboot 2.00.0002 so the revolutionary method would n't work, so it worked but I still have S-ON. Everything worked great and I was able to use TiBU to clean my phone of all the junk apps. Unfortunalely I went a bit far, but that wasn't a problem because I'd backed it all up. Not the case when I tried to reinstall apps like HTCcontacts.apk, system apps TiBU just hangs and nothing happens. At a guess Im thinking having S-ON is stopping me from writing to the system folders, although it allows me to uninstal those apps. Hmm I thought OK my phone is wiped anyway I might aswell just flash a new OTA from the HTC website, an official ROM not a custom one, that surely should work. Well to cut a long story short it didn't. It got about a third the way through then failed due to security signatures or something (it flashed up quick so I couldn't read exactly what it said).
Now my phone will only boot to HTC screen and goes no further, I've tried everything but nothings working. I can enter my Bootloader and have managed to flash the ClockworkMod Recovery and have tried to install many different official ROMS from the SD card using the ClockworkMod but it always gets a third through and stops. I've also tried installing from my PC using cmd, which was doing the same but now doesn't even recognise the device.
ITS OK ALL SORTED I WAS JUST DOING THINGS IN THE WRONG ORDER
BIG THANKS TO THIS POST --------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
So having S-ON doesn't seem to matter for flashing new ROMS as there has been some confusion over that in other forums,

Random Reboots Problem - please help

I simply have done all i can - and it seems that i cant do it right. Please consider to help me, because im noob.
Before i state my problem i should say that i have googled an crossed xda forum for 4 days and without any improvement.
Problem I have is that, my phone randomly reboots at no particular time or place - but here come the details:
First, for purpose of unlocking phone from SIM lock from carrier, it was S-OFFed and rooted by someone else (previous owner).
Rom was installed - Oxygen 2.3.2. and it worked for few months without bugs.
Then, one day it restarted and stuck in bootloops, but it came up for few seconds, or some time (but not for long), and then again restarted and so on. Eventually it held enough to do a factory reset which generally helped, but with one strange thing - clock couldnt sync and loosed about an hour for 5-6 hours (really strange).
Then i decided to try some other ROM hoping to resolve clock issue.
When I go into HBOOt it says:
--- AlphaRev ---
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010 17:52:10
Then i went here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...p?t=1315961URL and done REALLY step by step whole procedure.
ROM was installed, along with -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1408936
It worked flawllessly for about half an hour an then started rebooting on no particular action - sometimes went up for some time few secs to 10-20 mins an then reboot and sometimes it got stuck in endless loop (only pulling the battery helped).
Since it went wrong, i tried to RESTORE previosly made BACKUP of mentioned OXYGEN ROM, but sadly, same thing happened all the time.
I was devasteted, didnt know what to do so I decided to get back to STOCK ROM via RUU. (thought it would solve the problem)
I used RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.14_Radio_32.49.00 .32U_5.11.05.27_release_224699_signed
Phone stayed S-OFF (obviosly for AlphaRev HBOOT) but have been preety stable comparing what was happening before, in terms: restarted few times for a day and allways rebooted back. Then i inserted other SIM card ant it began again with restarts as soon it went up and been up for 10-20 secs. After few reboots, it stabilised, but had different problem: couldnt add new account, and couldnt remove one I set up at the beginning (message said that i should do FACTORY reset if i want account removed). So I did factory reset - and NOTHING HAPPENED - evrything stayed exactly as it was - with account and everything.
Then i came across BORTAKs Guide ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632 and followed step one, although it doesnt exactly match my probs - in terms that my phone boots up most of the time, but restarts randomly...
So I did what I was supposed to do and installed CyanogenMod after following step 10 Amon Ra's Recovery (I have PVT4 device) but same thing continues to happen - reboots, apparently on trying to add account on phone...
SORRY FOR SUCH LONG POST, but Im out of ideas, and new to this so PLEASE< PLEASE HELP me if u somehow can...
Thanks in advice

Did you try to run RUU after flashing Alpharev downgrade to achieve S-ON gain, or you just ran it over Alpharev stock?
Also did you try to format sd card or to remove it from phone and than to boot it up?
It all seems like it was SIM unlocked by a "fake" code so that are the issues that can happen.
Plus: to gain SIM unlock you don't need S-off and root.

I ran it over Alpharev... Im really new to this so i ask for help.
U say that i should:
1) flash AlphaRev downgrade to achieve S-ON gain (HOW exactly? please link to some guide if exists)
2) then run RUU
I tried formatting SD card later, removed it, even change card and latest ROM (Cyanogen) is on other SD card and its all the same...
Thanks for fast reply

Yes, both steps. With that you will overwrite both hboot and radio to stock ones, that could be the things that made you problems. You will get S-on after flashing of RUU (I recomend 2.3) when your hboot is overwritten.
This is a good guide how to use ADB and fastboot (you will need fastboot for flashing of hboot):
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...fastboot-windows-updated-1st-june-2011-a.html
But reading your post I think that the problem is with unlocking (SIM). If a guy that sold you the phone said he did it with S-off and root he is laying, as I told you it can't be done with that. The problem can occur when you unlock the phone with a "fake code" that actually removes the part of phone's software used to check for carrier and not replacing critical parts (something like that).
There's a tool:

Try to run it and see what you will get.

Thanks in advance, ill try everything when i setup everything properly. Will update on progress! :good:
OK, at fisrt I have removed both SIM and SD cards and then:
1) flashed AlphaRev downgrade to achieve S-ON
2) then run RUU
Inserted only SIM card, and for now without reboots - but this was only 15 mins ago, so ill keep informing about case after testing, in hope not to get another reboot ever.
What I realised is thatr I dont have recovery?
Is this supposed to be? And how will I resolve problem If something unwanted occur?
Thanks a lot for Your help!

You have recovery, but it is stock one (pretty different to custom ones ).
Now after you flashed 2.3 RUU you probably have 1.02 hboot, so go here:
revolutionary.io
Download the tool and follow the process described to achieve s-off and root again (the problem you have have nothing connected with s-off and root but probably with some parts of system software which might be recovered now). During the process you will flash Clockworkmod recovery, from which you will install Superuser.apk. After that reboot the phone and go here:
4ext.net
Download Recovery updater, install it to your phone and flash 4ext recovery. Than from recovery you can restore backup you have from your old rom, but my suggestion is to go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
and find something for you, cause I think that you have to start from scratch to have a proper software (cause you already had problems with previous one).
If you're up to Oxygen again go here:
http://download.oxygen.im/roms/
but I think that there are a few roms on previous link that are based on Oxygen, but a little bit modified with some extra options.
Well, thanks really, but for now I would like to live things as they are...
I dont mind beeng S-ON and not rooted, if phone doesnt reboot again. I just need it functioning, without advanced options.
Are U suggesting that STOCK ROM is not the way I should go?

It's the way I went for a long time until I started experimenting, mostly because a lack of space. After that I found the thread I posted (All things desire) and wanted to try some advanced roms (Sense 3.0, 3.5) even made some stuff on my own on that way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23101063#post23101063
My opinion is that stock roms are the best solution foe our device, cause it runs smoothest and I think that Sense is something that brings HTC devices above all other android devices. I've never been a fan of AOSP software but I tried it, just to see how it feels. I even used MIUI rom for some time as the first software option.
Anyway, the story with memory problem stays, but the main point for getting s-off and root again are diagnostic and flashing options cause on s-off device you can flash all crucial partitions that can cause problems (hboot and radio-see attachment) and change partition table layout to gain space (see alpharev.nl)
I hope I helped!

No problem, I'm holding you for your word!
If you have no reboots try to insert different carriers sim cards and see if it's still unlocked.
reboots again

Reboots again...
After half a day of normal usage, I tried inserting another SIM (but from same carrier) and it started again...
Not so often but from time to time it reboots.
So I guess, at the end it seems it is hardware fault.
One strange thing thou (and it makes me wonder): When I try removing account it says I should do Factory Reset if I want to change that basic acc. But afrer performing Factory Reset NOTHING happens? Account is still there, along with other settings and/or installed apps.
Any ideas?

Rebooting over and over again

Hello,
sorry if u will find this thread to be repeated, but I was searching so much, and nothing helped me. After all, I think you are my last chance.
So to the problem:
One day I rebooted my Desire Z - rooted, CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC# ( # is number can't remember which one - 2 or 3). Then I haven't paid attention to it and when I came home I noticed that phone is turned-off. So I turned it on: HTC white screen with green htc logo, CM loading screen and PIN code screen. So i entered PIN everything started loading ( i mean icons in notification bar appeared ) and then it happened: reboot. So again: logo, CM screen, PIN. I was bit slow so I didn't manage to enter PIN code and phone rebooted again. So it appears like it reboots in periods. So I start searching around the internet. I tried some things which I knew how to do, but I always found some problem. For example I can't mount USB storage while in CWM v5.0.2.7.
It appears to be boot loop, but I am not sure because I got to entering PIN code.
Help me, pls... I'm clueless.
P.S.: Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

Umm, don't do that ^^^^^
But it does look like you have some serious issues, try this, boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik, now flash cm7 on top of it
If it still is causing issues then you need to do a full wipe (even better if you super wipe or fastboot -w)
Then flash ROM of choice, cm7 is great and there are many good Roms based off of cm7 I would also recommend, elitemod or ilwt for a couple nice options

I am at work right now and I left phone at home, but I can tell you I tried wiping cache. Problem appeared when I showed log of this wiping and there was something like app2s something with partitions or something like. I already formatted my card in PC (FAT32, not quick format, non-USB card reader - normal one). Should I try different card (card is gold card CID-11111111 (i don't know how many ones ))?
And if I will try what strip419 said, could something possibly happen to my phone ( in wrong way)?

I wouldn't bother with reflashing the hboot, I would try more 'non-destructive' solutions first.
Reflashing thé hboot is thé only way to format all partitions do away with any thing that could be doing this of cos you could brick your phone but if you follow rules its gonna be okay if you have adk on your pc then you could use the command tool to clear this but that could do worse damage if you are a noob so its up to you man try or keep looking for a. Solution that will end up like mine any way

You can flash recovery from fastboot or via PC10IMG.zip the same way doing a hboot reinstall would work, except in this case you don't go to such extremes to do the entire hboot over again, just the recovery and go from there. If it's an ENG hboot can use fastboot directly to flash the recovery.img, otherwise you pack it into a PC10IMG.zip and place it on the SD card.
Worse case scenario, the internal memory is fried, and attempting to do a full hboot reinstall would most likely brick it as opposed to only trying to flash a portion.
I had a repetitive reboot issue when flashing a previous ROM as well.
My noob solution was to put PC10IMG.zip back on the SD card, boot to recovery using ADB and then going through the whole process of reinstalling hboot and putting on a known ROM. Didn't brick mine and I'm new to this...
Could have done with finding this forum earlier.
all should know to be careful doing that method, if it were a stock rom and you simply flashed the pc10img.zip with radio hboot, etc in it you could get a brick easy, especially if you don't have a working rom with adb functionality.
what would happen would be (this is if you have eng s-off as most root users do) your phone would begin by flashing the bootloader, after this it would reboot and attempt to flash flash the radio, only problem is the new hboot would be ship s-on and therefore would get stuck, leving you a soft brick with a little luck it would be possible to fix this but it could be that it is unfixable depending on the exact circumstances
all this is just to say be careful what you do, noob or not, if you aren't 100% sure what you are doing when flashing firmware a brick is easy

I have a similar problem but not sure if it's the same one... When I boot up my phone it goes through all the boot images fine, but when it starts it starts sometimes with my background showing and sometimes in a blank screen but both saying Android System at the top then shortly after shut down (usually shows shutting down not just straight up turns off) I have flashed new roms, reflashed backups, even got a jelly bean rom to go through the optimizing apps screen thing then would go to a blank screen with Android System on top again, and shut down.
Any help would be amazing! I've had my G2 since it's release and would hate to think it ran out of hearts :crying:

I also have the same problem. I attempted to use superwipe g2 to no avail.
I have clockwork recovery installed, and every custom rom I try to use seems to crash 5-10 seconds after finishing to loading screen for say cm7 or cm9.
I do not have a goldcard so am wondering what the best course of action would be. I am reluctant to follow the Hboot advise as the risks mentioned seem great.
everyone having these issues should go to irc freenode #g2root (just google it) and can receive real time help there. there are too many possiblities of what is going wrong and not enough information being given to help here well.
once things are figured out and all is working post back here to explain what the problem/fix was so future people finding this thread may have an easier time

What is the hboot way? What does that do? I'll try it, my G2 is already useless now, anything that will fix it including a dangerous way tell me
well hboot (also known as bootloader or spl) is sorta like bios on a pc. but I don't suggest trying anything rash and can't help much unless I know paticulars of your situation, if you give that I can see what I can do, but like I said before if you would like some realtime help go to freenode.
if you want help here give me details, what exactly is your problem, what have you tried to do to fix it, what method specificaly did you use to obtain root, write down everything on your hboot screen (again you get there by holding volume down while powering on)

Well I bought this phone at a swapmeet last year for 40 bucks. Everything worked and it was on gingerbread last year. In a week I googled and found a way to root by using the thread here in the forum by using adb and downgrading to froyo which was a pain for a noob using adb I just add lol, I was on elitemod gb for many months, until I was playing music a few days ago it just rebooted itself and it wouldn't boot correctly. Here's how it goes, htc white screen, boot animation, then it says android system on the top left and all black under and it shuts itself off. EVERY rom I have flashed it does that, I wiped completely and use the superwipe g2+ and still no dice. I couldn't find the 4ext recovery, I need it as a flashable zip to try it.
not really you should be able to flash it via fastboot (which is my opinion the prefered way anyhow) just google search for the image.
but I still need to know what is on your hboot screen or I can't help much further
