Nokia Update Today. Purple hue fixed! - Nokia Lumia 900

I'm a Rogers customer and I've had my Lumia since release.
Holy crap today I installed the new update and waddayouknow. Purple hue when set to low brightness is fixed.
Only took them 5 months.
Too bad my iPhone 5 is coming tomorrow.
I really wanted to stay with WP but after they screwed us on WP8 just 2 months after I bought the 900, I'm out..
Still love this Lumia though. Maybe iOS will piss me off enough to switch back in a month.
Love having work buying my devices...

Yea.. I got the update from Rogers yesterday (Wed), but I couldn't find that much difference from the one I 'forced' using Nokia's Care Suite a month or so ago. Apparently tho, it looks like the firmware # went from 12222 to 12224... Must be something in there somewhere...

Updated and now says the Oct 18th
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/09/18/at-to-launch-the-tilt-2-on-october-18th/
now the ATT bashing should calm down...when this release with 6.5 out of the box and only gsm with 3.5 jack then we gonna be see some envy look from tmobile and international versioin...worth the wait
It has not been confirmed whether the AT&T version has a 3.5mm jack or not. I can't believe that whoever took that spy picture didn't think of taking a picture of the bottom! This could have been cleared up a month ago!
The waiting won't be over until that device is in my grubby mitts With so many rumored dates already floating around its hard to get excited about this, even if it was posted on BGR.
Edit: Wait, the 18th? Is Sunday a typical day for device releases?
YES!!!!

You aint the only 1...I hope they launch this phone already...I mean spl is ready so I will have ATT rom on it for ole...3 minutes just enough time to flash spl and flash latest NRG Rom
My question is whether the 2-year-contract price will be closer to Verizon ($200) or TMobile ($349)...
My question is, how soon til the HTC Leo will be offered by AT&T? I've been free of my contract since this past June and have been waiting for the Tilt 2, but after seeing the HTC Leo, I wish I could get a possible release date for that to see if it would be worth the wait. I understand it doesn't have a keyboard, but with a screen like that, don't really need one. http://ai.rs/2009/09/htc-leo/ and http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/...ate-is-capacitive-pictured-from-ba/#continued

Well, judging by the TP2 (announced in Feb. 09' to launch on AT&T Oct. 09') I would say about 8-9 months after it is announced at the earliest. And that's if AT&T decides to subsidize it. Personally, I'm sticking with TP2 since I have already been waiting 8 months for it to come to AT&T.

I agree with AT&T's lack of effort to push anything that doesn't begin with the letter I and end with phone. However, the HTC Leo is further along, than the Touch Pro 2 is, when we first heard about it. There's already video of the phone being shown with WM 6.5, a gallery of pics, and detailed specs with a much better snapdragon processor. I've got to believe this phone could be available before Christmas, if not somewhere in Q1 2010. I just want to guard against purchasing the Tilt 2, which I've been waiting for the past 6 months, and all of a sudden 2 months later, this phone comes out- which clearly has much better specs all the way around.

Seeing as the HTC Leo hasn't hit the FCC yet (that we know of), it has next to 0% chance of being released this year in the US. At earliest I would guess early Spring 2010.
Who knows if AT&T will even release the Leo. Did you see how insanely fast that was? Almost nothing took longer than 1 second to open! Nearly everything was instant! After 3 years of the MSM7200, we can FINALLY have a decent processor. Windows Mobile will stop getting a bad rep due to the MSM7200 garbage 90% of the WinMo phones have been using.
I just talked to a few rep's in the Portland OR area and they are also saying mid October as a release for the "Tilt 2".
Release date same for entire US?
When ATT releases their phones, is the release date the same for the enitre US? The reason being is that I live in Hawaii and I don't know if that will affect the actual release date. I'd really like to know because when that day comes I'm going to be there first thing and I don't want to receive any blank stares.

Your best bet is to call your store once the date is official and find out what they say. My guess would be its nationwide.

Just got back to back updates on my HD7 and Pre-nodo on DVP

T-mobile, kudos. The speed difference is great, the old HD7 can finally keep up with the DVP. I'm loving the updates. Have you gotten yours?
Just updated but haven't noticed any speed difference. Nevermind, it's pre NODO. Geez!
DVP is running nodo now.
I just got the pre-nodo update...but i cant get the nodo no matter what i do. Its still version 7008...i shut down zone and restarted my phone but nothing is happening.

Hmm, I've recieved both today but I'm in texas... C&P works surprisingly well... the real fix though is the speed... it's an epic increase...
Damn, I've been checking all day for it I'm in actually right here in Austin with you (off W. Parmer). Good to see another HD7 user in Austin for sure. I wonder, I flashed the Telstra rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001019 a few weeks ago, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I'm not sure as to what needs to be identified by the phone itself in order for Zune to know what region or carrier and such you're in order for the update to be pushed. As well, I know it's staggered, so it could just not be my time yet.
Were you able to check if the pink camera issue is fixed or not? (for the HD7)
Thanks
Still pink as ever... and I think the telsra rom will slow it down...

The speed issues on the devices was never the fault of the devices or the SD cards. Microsoft had to change the memory management in WP7 to speed it up. That was the culprit.
And yea, even though I didn't get a pop-up, I just plugged my phone into my computer and Zune is telling me that I have a Feb 2011 update...
I've never had any pink tint in the camera, though (that's a problem from back with the HD2 as well... wouldn't be surprised if the camera they used is just terrible).

Did you replace the stock DVP SD Card with a higher class card. While WP7 is mostly Random Access sensitive for reliability and compatibility, higher class cards will result in higher performance because they have have better throughput in Read/Wright operations... Caching data, etc. all just work better on the faster cards (don't think OEMs should be putting anything less than class 6 in these phones, IMO).
And yea, this was Pre-NoDo. Didn't get anything after it was done updating, which only took like 4 minutes.

Also, I think people with pink tinted cameras should send their phones back. Don't think any software update can fix that completely and I've never seen a pink tinted picture on my phone - I've taken about 200 pictures since I've gotten it in various lightings.
Really the pink tint won't show unless you take a picture of a white wall.
Also, no. The DVP I'm testing on is pure factory but apps and other things always loaded faster on it. Now that Nodo is out the gap is smaller but the DVP is still clearly ahead.

I don't know why his startup is so slow but as for the game I get a similar result... not huge but there.

Bell to carry more wp in 2 weeks? (chat with employee)

Just had this exchange with a Bell rep:
You: Oh wait, one more thing, do you guys know when you'll be getting more Windows Phones?
Francesca: We are not exactly sure about it, however you can get back to us later 2 weeks to get the windows phone updates.
Francesca: Is that fine for you?
You: There's an update coming in 2 weeks? Like a software update?
You: Wait, you mean an update on you carrying them.
Francesca: You got it, thank you.
Kinda neat, hope it's true, as my trusty Quantum has been having some problems, and I'd really like to get it switched out before the warranty is up.
I think you're reading too much in between the lines.

those bell chat reps seem to have very little knowledge about anything, I have serious doubts about anything they say.
although I also hope Bell would get some nice new WP7 phones.

Just a heads up. If Microsoft is going to make an announcement like that... it ain't gonna happen in Portuguese! No offense Portugal... or Brazil.
It's sad that Galaxy S3 and maybe the iPhone 5 (or whatever is called) are probably coming out the next month, and we still have no clue if Windows 8 is going to be able to run on our current devices.
I wanted to get a Lumia, but I might end getting the S3 or an iPhone.

iPhone?! So because there is some uncertainty about an OS that hasn't come out yet... you are going to get a phone that hasn't come out yet?
Why don't you just wait until either the iphone 5 or WP8 compatibility are confirmed?
The rumor mill is saying October for an iphone 5 release. If that is the case there is a pretty good chance we will have some WP8 compatibility clarity by then.
Anyway I'm on contract so I had to get a phone now. There was no way I was going to wait around 6-8 months on contract for a phone. I have to upgrade ASAP to justify the monthly bill I'm paying.

Rogers & Purple Hue Update

As some of you already know, Rogers did not receive the 12085 firmware update which addressed the purple hue issue that all North American Lumias suffered from since their launch.
I tried reaching Nokia via twitter and Rogers. Nokia never replied and Rogers said they are still waiting for the firmware to arrive from Nokia so that they test it.
I then sent am email to Nokia and was told later on that someone from the Service Recovery department will call me. They called me yesterday and pretty much did not know when the firmware will be released and told me to set the brightness to medium and wait!!! I said why do I have to do that while the AT&T customers got treated in much more timely manner. Why are Rogers customers left in the dark?! The representative had no answers and kept telling me the same things I mentioned above.
I finished with her and decided to email Nokia's CEO. YES! Stephen Elop himself. I sent him an email and told him about this and how unacceptable it is given that our US neighbours got the issue fixed a month ago. I also told him how frustrated I was with the Service Department not knowing anything nor being able to help.
Guess what?! He replied to me while ccing a couple of people in the reply email. He apologized for this and told me that someone from his team will assist me.
I received a call today in the morning from the manager/head of the service recovery department and I was offered a brand new Lumia 900 from the newest batch which does not suffer from the purple hue issue. They will ship it to me soon. Later on in the day, Mr. Elop emailed me again and told me that he checked the firmware update's status and that it is now in Rogers labs being tested and that it should be released in the coming weeks.
I thanked Mr. Elop for his assistance and told him that I will keep him informed of these bugs harming the brand and their flagship device.
So now all you Rogers customers have an update on this issue. Hopefully you will get the firmware update soon.
That's good news. And shows how the power of one can move mountains. Glad you focused your energy in the right direction.

Elop said that the firmware is now in Rogers' testing labs and Rogers tweeted me back a while ago saying they are looking for an end-of-July release so maybe this will end up true.
I am still going to corner that manager and exert pressure just to see what she'll do given that she assured me like 5 times that the phone she is sending me does not have that problem anymore and I kept telling her are you sure? And she's respond saying yes.
I really find myself making them a favour by wasting my time giving them feedback so that they can better their sales/customer satisfaction!
Called the manager today and she was very apologetic since apparently the service center in New Market (Flextronics) sent me a phone from the old batch.
They are sending me a new batch phone now from Ajax which is where Nokia Personnel are.
Will keep everyone posted.

I'm self-employed, have a company to run, and couldn't go 1 hour without my phone (let alone 1-3 weeks)... It's simply not an option... Maybe I need to write Mr. President at Nokia and see what'll happen.
Received the new batch Lumia 900 today.
To my surprise, the firmware version is unique and nowhere to be found elswhere online. The same applies for the OS.

Firmware: 2175.2301.8779.12222

International - It's an unlocked "SmarTone" phone that I understand is out of Hong Kong.
I have an International release of the Lumia 900 (an unlocked Rogers device purchased outright from Hong Kong) and I'm on 8773.
I really do hope that Rogers release the firmware very soon because the keyboard disappearance has been annoying the hell out of me lately. The kbrd either disappears or TellMe pops up without any reason (and I find myself swearing at it)!
xsever, did you ever notice on your earlier 900 pictures you took looked fine on the screen but when the picture was taken it was noticably darker? How about your new version.. how's the accuracy of the camera? (Well done getting a new device by the way).
