Can you give me detailed instructions? Cant seem to follow the unmount system part. Sorry for noob question. Thanks

ummm.. i THINK it should be "mount system" instead of "unmount system" in your instruction. the system is unmounted by default in cwm (CMIIW), i tried several times with no luck hahaha then i tried to mount the system then flash the zip file aaand it works
CMIIW, im not an expert
thanks in advance
btw do you know how to turn off the capacitive buttons' light?

You gave a wrong step. It should be mounted to flash it. How can you install it if the system folder hasn't mounted?

Install guide :
1. Disable any lagfix if have it installed
2. Make sure have the 2e recovery. If your rom is froyo and you don't have 2e recovery, use cf-root by chainfire
3. Make sure you have a backup of your /efs (not mandatory, but highly recommended).
4. Factory reset is NOT required, but is recommended. Wipe cache and dalvik cache if you’re not performing a factory reset.
Installation Steps:
1. Download the ROM and put Spike Speedy Edition v2.0.zip on your internal memory
2. Download clockworkmod recovery from here. You *need* Clockworkmod, this won’t work with stock recovery.
3. Rename the clockworkmod recovery file to “update.zip” and put it on your internal sdcard.
4. If you had Voodoo installed prior to installing this ROM (eclair or froyo), make sure you still have the "disable lagfix" folder inside "/sdcard/Voodoo". If you’re coming from sztupy’s kernel, make sure you have disabled all Lagfixes from CWM.
5. Shutdown phone, wait for it to power down, then boot the phone into recovery mode (press volume up, keep it pressed, then press home button, keep it pressed, then press power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
6. Select “apply sdcard:update.zip” (use volume rocker to move up and down, and home button to select). Clockworkmod recovery will boot now (you may have to do apply update.zip twice for Clockworkmod to show up).
7. Once in Clockworkmod, select “install zip from sdcard” (use volume rocker to move up and down and the back button to select).
8. Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select Spike Speedy Edition v2.0.zip. Then choose yes.
9. The update will start (will take some 5 minutes) and during the flashing you will see some strange big characters on the screen, don’t worry, that’s normal. After the process finishes, you will be dropped back into Clockworkmod recovery. From there, choose go back, and then reboot phone.
10. The first boot will take some time as the ROM will deodex
Special tnx to kalpik for install guide.

help with cwm6 needed before flashing cm9

hi all....total Android noob here...
after a lot of research and some 'should i or shouldn't i' episodes, i've successfully rooted my wonder in order to flash to cm9. along the way i've discovered that it is 'desirable' to have cwm 6 installed first.
from what i understand, there are 2(?) ways of doing this...either via stock recovery in the ADB(?) shell or via ODIN...
ODIN *seems* to be the preferred method though. but here lies my problem.....i can't get it to work...i've found several links to download odin, and several links to download cwm 6.....also several different sets of instructions as to how to actually do it.....
it would really help if i had one set of downloads for odin and cwm 6 and one set of step by step, clear, precise, tried and tested instructions....
i've also tried nandroid backup as a 'partial' alternative to cwm 6, but it's not compatible with my phone.
additional info (if needed).....
os version - gingerbread 2.3.5
carrier - 3UK
kernel version - 2.6.35.7-perf-I8150XXK18-CL604835

many thanks in advance.....

Here is the way to flash CWM6 using Odin, if you wanna flash CWM5 just use the md5&ops files for CWM5, which you may need to find them somewhere
1. Download Odin & Ancora.ops & recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ancora.tar.md5
2. Enable USB Debugging in Setting-Application- Development
3. Open Odin.
- Select the ops file, and enable one package in options
- then load the md5(recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ancora.tar.md5) file with the One Package button.
- put ur phone it into download mode, first turn off phone, then hold Volume Down + Home + Power Button for a while.
- Phone will turn on and show some screen, then you plug in usb cable (it may look for the driver through Windows Update so please enable your computer's Internet connection).
Get the files (please find Odin from somewhere else): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446593
Good luck and sorry for my bad English~
THESE STEPS NEEDS ROOT & BUSYBOX, DOESN'T NEED PC & ODIN..
FOR BEST RESULT, UPDATE YOUR SUPERUSER.APK, SU BINARY, AND BUSYBOX
-go here http://www.mediafire.com/?6wkwiko5gmqhuyr link by acro68 the author of W's CM9 and who made CWM possible to our device
-download and extract it..
-put the recovery.img in /mnt/sdcard
-download "Terminal Emulator" by Jack in market (FREE OF COURSE)
-open it then type "su" and click enter
-allow root access..
-then type "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13" then click enter <~ THAT IS "0" (ZERO) not "O" word..
-then some text will show in bottom
-exit terminal.. check the recovery by turning off the device then turn on with volume up botton, home button, and power button pressed together.. until "Galaxy W" screen shows up, release the power button only.. then you will enter CWM
-navigate with up (up) n down (down) vol button and home keys (select) and power (back) and click "reboot system now" to reboot

did you forget to add -enable the "USB Debugging" on Setting-?
if you're gonna flashing stock rom with ODIN, you're not gonna need USB Debugging setting..
but if recovery, you need it..

Oh yea, thanks for reminding, I always enabled it so I forgot to mention that
Hi,
how can I know if CWM6 is compatible with my kernel?
Thanks a lot.
Model code: GT-I8150
Android version: 2.3.6
Version base band: I8150XXKL3
Kernel version: [email protected] #3
Build version: GINGERBREAD.XXLA2
as far as I know, recovery has it's own kernel..
Hi all...installed CM9 last night...all went well....
Have noticed that there's no Task Manager or Media Player Apps....is it just that I'm looking right at them and not recognizing them for what they are, or are they not included in the build?....if they're not included, which 3rd party apps would you recommend for use instead?.....
Also, for information, I had ONE minor glitch occurrence when using the camera.....as follows...
Started camera app..
Changed from primary to secondary (self portrait) camera...
Changed the exposure setting to +2....
App force closed.....
Apart from that, no other issues to report.....
A big thanks to everybody involved for taking the Galaxy W and producing such a fantastic alternative to 'stock'.....
PS......will cm10 be ported to the W?....lol...(got the Modding bug now . )
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda app-developers app
Hi again....can confirm that the force close camera issue (as described above), is a continuing problem on all increments of exposure compensation setting. With that in mind, is there a 3rd party camera app available that has the same functionality as the installed app but without the gimmicks?......
As mentioned before, CM9 really is a welcome step up from the 'stock' OS, so if the camera issue is the only issue with CM9, it's still worth 'taking that leap'.....
Once again, many thanks for the work put in on this....Keith
Sent from my GT-I8150 with CM9 using xda app-developers app
better you post that on "CyanogenMod 9 bug report & discussion thread" by THE-E.. so then the bug will added to the list
CM9 very good right if there weren't any bugs..

Moving CWM6 backups to PC
Hi guys, I have a question here. How can I move my backups I created using CWM6 to a PC so I can free up my internal sd space? I don't think those folders on clockworkmod\backup are full backups because the blob folder is much larger.
I'm using Samsung Galaxy W I8150, CWM 6.0.1.2, CM9 Alpha7.

have already and safe.. BUT:
-make sure your USB Cable is still in good condition.. if you are not sure, DO NOT MOVE CABLE WHILE COPYING FILES..
-you had fast enough PC.. DO NOT COPY FILES WHILE LAGGING
-NO VIRUS ON YOUR PC..
-make sure NO SOFTWARE BLOCKING YOUR PHONE DRIVER..
-if you backup to external sd, BETTER USE CARD READER TO COPY THOSE FILES TO PC
-IF ZIPPING OR RARING FILES, DP NOT COMPRESS LIKE CRAZY (COMPRESS NORMAL OR JUST STORE -without compression-)
-always reject/unmount removeable drive TO PREVENT CORRUPT FILES ON YOUR SD, USB, OR ETC..
safe backup

5. Then use volume keys to navigate and power button to select option. Select install zip from sdcard, then select XT320_bootmenuV2.zip and select yes to install the zip file
6. Then reboot device by selecting reboot device now.
CWM 6 has a bug where it asks you to 'disable recovery flash' when you select reboot system now make sure you select NO or you will soft brick your device.
Changelog:
-v2 No need to mount /sdcard in CWM Recovery. Fixed TWRP installation issues.
-v2.0.1 Released an .exe version of script, to simplify installation
-v2.0.1.1 Fixed bootmenu.zip
This can install a custom recovery?
This can install a custom recovery?
Thank you
The root process worked for me. Now i can install link2sd and set up a swap partition.
I cant install TWRP and i think the reason is that the bat was having some problem to send that bootmenu.tar file to my sd card. I tried to send that file myself before starting the entire process and it didnt worked.
I took a picture of the error i'm getting . Thank you again, i was really mad about that low internal space xD
same problem... someone can fix it? please

Ok, I've made a fixed script here. The error was that the sdcard is a directory so it will refuse to push files into it.
Here's the updated script below. Just put the .bat file in the same place as the other files.
Thanks

Ty for the quickly answer.
Btw, my gsm network wasnt working after the root process. If the same thing happens to someone else, just do a master reset and it will work again.
pull command is working now
That sdcard copy part is working now. The TWRP process is still not working for me. I tried to do myself the commands using the adb interface and when i use the command to intall the tar, i got the message 'tar: no space left on device" . I hope you can help me with that and i'm sorry about all this questions xD .

Yes but it sometimes gets unstable so you should overclock to 700MHz which is the highest I got without reboots. pll2_l_val=73 gives you 700MHz.

It worked for others but in your situation the only thing I can advise is to do a data wipe and relfash SBF file. Just go to Guitwo2's there to install permanent CWM.

STEPS FOR MAKING LINK2SD WORK
Thanks to @abi.z for the scripts
Steps
1. Partition your sd card to have an ext4 2nd partition. 1 gb partiton max (adviceable) (ext3,ext4 fat32 confirmed working)
2. Install Link2sd from playstore. (dont open it)
3. Copy attached install-recovery.sh to /etc/ using any file manager with root access.
4. open terminal emulator app. and type the following command without quotes
"su" (press enter)
"mkdir /data/sdext2" (press enter)
"chmod 777 /etc/install-recovery.sh" (press enter)
5.Done!! Reboot your system and check link2sd->Storage info to see the mounted partition details.
For people who want to use other partitions
Make the following changes in the mount command in case you are using a different partition/filesystem
Open your install-recovery.sh and
Replace ext4 with ext2/ext3/vfat depending on you second partition.
If using a partition other than 2nd partition, Replace either mmcblk0p2 with mmcblk0p3 OR 179:2 with 179:3 or so on depending on your partition number
then EXECUTE the script or REBOOT for the changes to take place.

Rooted but Cannot enter Recovery mode
Hi
I rooted my a 58 using FramRoot, installed gravity toolbox also.
However i try, Iam not able to get into recovery.
#Tried flashing using Mobile Uncle, it flashes and asks to reboot to recovery. But again boots into normal os.
On powering on with vol+ and power button it shows only new Bolt logo(white letters in green trapezium) and no android
I tried rebooting into recover with different tools but all same result.
# Tried running the CTRv2.1-ubifs.exe a no of times.
It detects my MT6572 SoC and asks for root rights on phone, but fails after issueing dd commands with the following message on pc screen "Error detected, cannot unpack recovery.img"
I had around 90mb free space in data partition.
#
This is what I could observe, if iam trying to get into recovery it shows bolt logo as said above, then black screen and again comes to bolt logo and continues a normal boot.
Tried vol- and power button. Took me to some chinese factory testing menu.I could test my device hardware and also could do a factory reset from that menu. But not idea how to get into recovery from there.
I have all the drivers installed and I am not a newbiew, has flashed a lot of recoveries and custom roms on diff devices.
I followed @dhinesh77 thread and the cat /proc/mtd command screenshot is attached.
I have no idea what iam missing here, If you need any details i can provide the same. Please help me

Did u install busy box in phone before proceeding. Try installing busy box. Then in ctr try manual porting option and use the stock recovery.IMG. if u did not take back up of stock.IMG I can share it with u. It will work I too had this problem... If u have any doubt ask me.
i am gonna share two roms with you u can use it.
T-09 version rom
http://www.adrive.com/public/RYVRp2.html
T-07 version rom
http://www.4shared.com/zip/wB64yz-vce/A58_T07_2_.html
extract the correct version of rom for your phone and use the recovery.img . you can see the version in about phone option or by removing the battery.

Thanks dude.
@dinesh77 s post helped me to conclude the issue.
Your post led me back on track and thanks for uploading the roms. Although i dint download because of my limited conn speed, itll be of help to someone.
Here's how i solved the issue.
I checked unpacking my existing recovery image and it was corrupted.
I was having a problem since i flashed the corrupted recovery initially, and lateron ctr porting tool was not able extract the existing recovery details for porting.
So i got twrp recovery from your the mediafire link in the first post did a porting and then everything worked fine with ctr recovery.
twrp recovery was running, but backup functionality wasnt working.
Iam not able to use advanced restore from ctr recovery.
All othr functions works from ctr..

Congratulation bro! And please share the procedure here so we can also get benefit of it. Thanks in advance.
Increase internal Memory !! Link2sd Working !! [Use Manual mount Script]
Steps
1. Partition your sd card to have an ext4 2nd partition. I used a second primary partition of 512mb (ext3,ext4 fat32 confirmed working)
2. Install Link2sd from playstore.
3. Mount /system read-write and Copy attached install-recovery.sh to /etc/ using any file manager with root access.
4. Using filemanager(root) goto /data and create directory sdext2. or mkdir /data/sdext2 using root terminal
5. Set permissions on the copied file using filemanager(root) as in screenshot or chmod 777 /etc/install-recovery.sh using root terminal.
6. Done!! Reboot your system and check link2sd->Storage info to see the mounted partition details.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incase you want to test if link2sd will work or not with your current sdcard 2nd partition, issue the commands in terminal
su
mkdir /data/sdext2
mount -t ext4-o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /data/sdext2
or
mount -t ext4 -o rw /dev/block/vold/179:2 /data/sdext2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make the following changes in the mount command in case you are using a different partition/filesystem
Open your install-recovery.sh and
Replace ext4 with ext2/ext3/vfat depending on you second partition.
If using a partition other than 2nd partition, Replace either mmcblk0p2 with mmcblk0p3 OR 179:2 with 179:3 or so on depending on your partition no.

It seems root access was denied for ctr auto port tool, hence why you failed, reinsure that you have running auto port tool under c:/ ; anyhow I will upload ctr compiled recovery too on this weekend sry or delay

@dhinesh77 Ya please upload so that others can use it.. If you want i can upload ported ctr recovery.
It was not root access causing problems,I had flahed the corrupted download to phone initially and then the recovery.img which ctr was reading from my phone was corrupted for autoporting tool to work on, and was failing while extracting the .img..
