How to Re-enable stock email app? - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

I disabled the stock email app from the Application menu. It does not give the option to ENABLE like all other apps. The button where ENABLE usually is, is shaded out and shows DISABLED.
Anyone know how to enable?

This picture means the opposit. You can not disable the stock mail
And it says "Disable" not "Disabled"

But I did disable it. Can't find it anywhere in my app lists.

Can you elaborate further? I did the same thing. I'm not currently rooted and was hoping to avoid having to reset the phone to re-enable.
The "enable" button that should be there really isn't there.

I think what he is saying is go into /system/app using RootExplorer and tap on the .apk to initialize the Android Installer. Since all you did was disable it, it should still be sitting there in /system/app. Just install it again. A wipe of dalvik cache may be necessary, but I'm not sure about that.

Unfortunately that didn't work from rootexplorer. I checked logcat and it talked about classes.dex related errors while trying to load that APK. So I guess this method is a no-go.
Can't exactly clear dalvik cache since the phone isn't rooted.

process com.google.process.gapps has stopped

Need help, my wife's phone is stock srf 1.2 and it was running smoothly for awhile until now, randomly at the begining of making a phone call she is getting process google gapps or framework services stop errors. What is the best way to fix this without having her lose data from her apps?

Try going to settings, aapplications, manage, all, and clear data out of whatever is force closing.

I will try this later, what if nothing is force closing? The error just pops up and then lets me close the popup window but the phone call or text message still works. It also does when my wife unlocks the phone and I just click ok on the popup and the phone will unlock and go to the home screen.
Sounds like you need to enable journaling
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071723
You might have to reflash for this to work correctly. Also did you freeze anything in Titanium or another application?
Quickest fix I've found for that Is to just re flash the rom works like a charm....u can even use the ACS Updater app in the market downloads and does the flash for u quick easy and painless

Is gapps itself you need to clear. Do what qb suggested on the com.xxx.gapps

If it still won't work, turn ur phone off, leave it off for about 3 mins, then turn it back on and update ur prl and profile, then reboot it again, and it should work. Make sure all ur sync settings are on. When u update prl and profile, do it 2x

Have you redownloaded and reinstalled? If its a system app then you'll have to get es file manager and go into settings and make sure root browser is checked as well as system is writeable and go to the star icon then to the phone icon find the system folder and then the app folder and find the app and delete it and reinstall it.

The two Samsung Apps you reference are system app that need to be pushed to the system/apps folder... Use root explorer and paste them into that folder then reboot. Yay...

Not necessarily true... I side loaded both these apps just fine in EsFile Explorer. Try going into recovery and fixing permisions and clear cache/dalvik, bet you already have install from unknown sources checked, but double check just in case. But in the later, it would prompt for you to change it when attempting to install :/

Are you using any kind of brightness adjusting app like Lux or Screen Filter? I found that after disabling Lux, I was able to install the apk fine. Then I re-enabled Lux after.

thx man. Strage thing is that rootexplorer cant instal apkĀ“s with enabled screen filter but with es explorer works both (enablade and disabled Scr Filter). btw i have a nexus 4 with 4.2.2
Same problem with Lux and Root Browser. Had to disable Lux and kill the process with System Panel, then reenable it. Also on a Nexus 4 (this was just the thread I found with a Google serach). Is this a bug with Lux or Root Browser?

I found the bug that had been filed for this here. It's marked as resolved. But it's definitely still present for me.

I have the same problem, have tried to install any apk but the "install" button cannot be clicked. Before i installed Battery Doctor app, still able to install any apk. yes there is an option to put brigthness to auto adjust, is it the cause of problem?
another thing (OOT), my wifi always turn off for no reason, what is the suggestion?
N7000, ICS stock rom and kernel, CWM rooted
Thanks...
Yes, install button going disabled is a bug in android systems, not just Lux, or because of any other brightness reducer app!
If u have any brightness reducer app, it results in disabling the install button for installing any saved app(apps from playstore install without any problem).
Disabling this app will enable the "install" button.

[Q] missing gallery app

Can someone please help? My wifes GN2 gallery app has been deleted somehow. Her phone is stock and unrooted. From my understanding root is required to delete a system app, so I'm not sure how it happened. Does anyone have any ideas on how to recover the gallery, aside from factory reset? Maybe an apk? Thanks!
SOLVED
It's probably not deleted. Open your app draw, then click menu and select hide applications. Find gallery and uncheck it.

I've checked the app drawer, and it's not hidden. I have also looked in the application manager, it's missing from there as well.

Okay that's strange because you do need root to remove a system app. Silly question, have you scrolled to the bottom of app manager where the disabled apps are and made sure it wasn't accidently disabled?
Also, have your rebooted and seen I'd it just shows back up
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Thank you guys for the replies. I have performed a reboot, however I have not scrolled to the bottom of the app manager to see if it was disabled. I only looked for it in the alphabetical list. I'll try that when she gets home with her phone.

[Q] lack of default app persistence

Hi, ive rooted my Tab 3 8.0 using twrp/odin. It works great.
I have noticed that I am constantly being asked to select a default app for many operations and it does not stay persistent... ie next time i do the same thing it will ask me again!
I dont know where to start debugging this one!
Any help appreciated.
OMG !!!
Just touch "Always" instead of "Ask again" when asked
Sent from Gallifrey using TARDIS
Really.?? You think a member of xda with over 20 years dev experience would not think of that?
Pull your head in.
There are a number of unanswered posts on several boards from users with this issue. It *may* be a problem with Nova launcher or titanium. This happened around the time I installed those.
I had to freeze the default launcher to get Nova to function correctly. Perhaps that is the issue.
It may also be a permission issue. I've used the boot loader to reset my permissions to no avail.
Can anyone direct me to the storage where the default app register is?
Any other ideas?
Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk
So you spent 20 year of experience on XDA ?
That's great !!!
I also have any other idea. Maybe you should wipe cache and dalvik-cache in recovery or reset all settings of the app named "Default Container".
You may also reinstall your ROM.
