USTB OTG on htc one x - HTC One X

THE Galaxy s3 as we already know has usb otg function and I m pretty sure that HTC one x has a decent motherboard 2 support it 2 ...we have eternity kernel but with external power source ..Is anyone trying 2 develop such kernel that runs usb devices without external power source? Please look into it as its a shame 2 have such a wonderful device nd not be able to get usb otg on it:crying:

It's coming with the JB update next month

There are people that posted screenshots with ARHD EB able to do it ... Try it out

Arhd eb3 and up have USB otg fully working I played dead trigger with my ps3 controller without sixaxis app

[Q] Does the One X have USB host mode?

I haven't ordered my One X yet, but I was wondering if it's possible to plug in a USB keyboard (with an adapter obviously)?
Thanks!
Billy
Ive tried to do this with an adapter but it doesnt pick up anything, maybe im doing it wrong or else HTC doesnt have it in the ROM
Hardware is capable but it's not coded into the kernel. Expect this feature to appear fairly quickly once kernel source is available and people start work on custom roms.

As much as I want to believe that, I'm curious what makes you so sure it'll get added to the custom features list? I ask because somebody wrote drivers for the Nexus One two years ago and it's yet to be baked into any kernals (that I know of). Honestly, I've always been surprised that more people didn't see the value in the feature.
Thanks for the reply!
Billy
Have you tried it with a powered USB hub out of curiosity (i.e. connect One X as source device to a powered USB hub, plug device you want to use like keyboard/mouse/hard drive/etc. to hub)? The One X may not supply enough power from its USB port to power all devices.

Just tried.. Doesn't seems to work (with a USB keyboard). But the one X started to recharge
There is a custom rom already with USB host:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640532
According to the comments in that thread it still doesn't work. I've tried it myself with no success using powered USB hub.
USB-OTG is still in development phase from what I've read. Give it awhile and devs would get it fixed
bump
HTC released JB 4.1 kernel sources recently..
so will it be possible to connect USB keyboard?
Sure, and mouse too.
Odp: [Q] Does the One X have USB host mode?
Thanks!
Sorry for a little OT, but is it possible to make an USB keyboard with battery than will charge my tablet/smartphone?

Don't know. I guess you can if you know how to solder. See post below.
Won't work. Though you could charge over the pogo pins.

Connecting USB Key or USB HDD to One X

Hi Guys.
Loving the ability to hook the HTC one x via MHL > HDMI to the bigscreen.
Does anyone know any news on the ability to hook either a USB key or a USB HDD to the one x.
I understand that the one x hardware supports host mode, but no softare does at this point. From reading a few other posts around the web, there was some scepticism as to whether it ever would.
I personally would love to be able to take the one X and hook up extra storage for movies etc
Any change cyanogen or miui will support this ??
Doesn't work, tried it with mine (also others confirm it doesn't presently work). Even if HTC never enable it I'm sure custom ROMs will eventually.

I could Be Wrong But Does Leedroid's One X Rom Support it in his latest update?
Might be worth a look?
Thanks

I'll get my USB OTG cable tomorrow if I'm lucky. Will report back
Try something like USB Mass Storage Watcher (market: OTG version or non-OTG (I use this on my Toshiba Thrive, which has a full size USB port ).
It does have this warning:
USB Mass Storage Watcher OTG Market Page said:
---- ATTENTION ----
This will only work on rooted devices and requires a kernel that has the ums enabled. An OTG cable is required for using usb keys. It also requires a kernel with ums enabled and modules for ntfs/hfs/hfs+ etc.

Really? It doesn't works on the unrooted stock ROM? I saw Note 2 doing it in stock ROM even with a cheap cable...

Confirmed that HOX with stock JB Rom directly connect with USB storage perfectly by any OTG USB cable.
and no one can't check it?

MHL to HDMI cable has USB for external power supply.

[Q] HTC One X USB OTG. How???

So, I preordered the HTC One X, bought an OTG adapter, an MHL cable and an Xbox 360 wired controller.
Why? So I could hook them all up and play games on my TV.
I think you can see where this is going...
There are many people here asking how to enable USB OTG, but as far as I can see, no clear solution.
Please help, I was so gutted to find it wouldn't work.
Info: Stock 1.28, Unlocked Downloader, CWM, root.
There is no USB OTG as standard though there are some kernels being developed.

The best bet will be get the source for your kernel and compile the necissary modules... At least, I think...
I saw a Kernel called Eternity mod which claimed to enable USB host mode, but after flashing it did not make any difference to whether or not it detects anything..

Hi,
I wonder is there a way to have USB OTG (like Galaxy S3) on One X ?
If so, please guide me the process.

samsung s3 works with android 4.0
one x works with android 4.0
why does one of them support OTG, one not. HOW?
same question about video calling over 3G (not via internet)
there is no usb otg as of now for htc one x, but we might get one in future.
afaik the htc one x hardware allow usb otg, but somehow htc has blocked it due to some silly reasons.
but i think so it will be enabled in kernel 3.1..

it depends on the kernel, not on android version.

Kholk's kernel 0.23 based on 3.4 distribution supports Usb Host Mode. Not perfect, needs external power for the devices, but it's a good start

MHL 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 for the HTC one m8

Does anyone know what version of MHL the m8 supports? Also any recommendations for adapters is greatly appreciated.
Test results
I successfully tested the original Samsung HDTV to HDMI Adapter EIA2UHUNBECSTD. The HTC One M8 is charging to the same time. I did not expect that.
It failed with the Cable Matters 6 Feet Micro-USB-to-HDMI MHL Adapter - the same cable worked with a Samsung Galaxy S2.
Bump
I'd like to know which one to get aswell
